Where to Buy Boston’s Best Chocolates, From Bonbons to Truffles | Eater Boston

"Founded in the early pandemic by Betty Petrova while she was working at Uni, this venture started with Instagram pop-ups and grew into an online shop and subscription service offering eye-catching bonbons and confections; I particularly note inventive flavor combinations such as Thai basil limeade, Mandarin cookie, and Kentucky bourbon caramel, and you can also find truffles, bars, and other treats at occasional local pop-ups or via shipping and local pickup." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

If you love truffle chocolates then Old Kentucky Chocolates is for you. I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat their chocolates but my wife loves their chocolates especially their great selection of milk chocolates. I recommend going to the counter and making your own assorted truffles box. Per my wife's recommendation, their peanut butter, orange, raspberries, and blackberries chocolate truffles are superb.

These are delicious chocolates and the store has a large variety of tasty items for every type of chocolate craving! From handmade bonbons to peppermint bark, to their classic bourbon cherry chocolates, there’s so much sweet goodness for everyone. I got a custom box of bonbons and peppermint bark my fiancé. I also got some chocolate covered peanuts, bourbon chocolates and chocolate mints for the rest of my family for Christmas. Everything was heavenly! Also, the store is beautifully decorated and the staff are as sweet as the chocolate they’re serving! When I asked for a sample, one of the ladies let me try a full bonbon to make sure I got the full chocolate experience- such a lovely gesture. I highly recommend this place for chocolate gifts, especially for Christmas and Valentine’s Day!

The employee that waited on us was from another location. She was the sweetest and most helpful employee I've ever seen at one of your establishments. I feel awful for forgetting her name but she had a smile you wouldn't forget. We ended up spending almost $100 because she let us sample ones we've never tried before. She never let us feel as though we were a bother like my previous experience. I'll have to check what store she is usually at because that's where we will go in the future.

We love Old Kentucky Chocolates! After moving away from Kentucky, we finally made it back to visit and loaded up. Is it kind of expensive? Yes. But is it overpriced? Nope. You get exactly the quality you're paying for every time. From the buckeyes to the chocolate-covered bourbon cherries to the chocolate-covered fresh fruits, everything is delectable. It has a boutique feel and the staff can all answer any questions you have. The Palomar location is in an old fast food restaurant so it even has a drive-thru! They really can't be beat.

They have the best dark chocolate covered bourbon cherries!! Right now, they also have dark chocolate covered strawberries and grapes- oh so good 👍 😋

Great place to shop for quality gifts. I appreciate that they support the local schools through candy bar fundraisers. However, I find the employees here to be *consistently* unwelcoming. Please greet and serve everyone who comes into the store with equal regard! Preferences for certain groups are hard to overlook time and time again. I haven't been to the Southland location in a while ( because I've been patronizing Palomar) but I may stop in when I'm next shopping for chocolates to see if the service is any better there.

I love visiting because it always feels like Christmas! The milk chocolate pretzels are my favorite. The staff is always so warm and helpful. The displays are impeccable as well. Very neat. I don’t believe I’ve ever visited either location and found it in a mess or even a little messy. I used to believe that all sweets were basically the same. Not true. Not even close. Do yourself a favor, visit this place several times a week if you can.

Nice store to get some great chocolates. Bought some chocolate covered espresso beans, raisins, grapes and blueberries. You won’t be disappointed in eating some chocolate from them.

Yelp
I've never seen a chocolate shop with a drive-through....until now! This is an awesome concept!! This is a fairly large chocolate shop with everything from individual chocolates to buy by the pound loose, aluminum foiled chocolate, choclate covered potato chips, bourbon flavored chocolates and fresh grapes !! and fresh strawberries in chocolate. We ended up with a few different things and because we started chatting with the ladies working there, they found out we were from Chicago and let us try the chocolate grapes and chips. I loved the grapes and was sad that we weren't going to be in town long enough to eat a box, but the potato chips weren't our thing. I have to say that sometimes we buy chocolate from places and end up throwing it out because it isn't as good as it looks, NOT the case with this place. Their truffles were so good, that we ate them rather quickly. The wrapped candy were also very good. Not a fan of the rice crispie treat, which was odd, but everything else was really good. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I am glad this location in Palomar Center opened up in my neighborhood. I use the old Kentucky chocolate candy to give as gifts. I like the chocolate covered cherries and the chocolate covered potato chips. This is located where the Gold Star Chili location was previously located. The store is bright and open for easy shopping. I enjoyed visiting this location and am glad they have opened a fourth location.

Yelp
What could be better than drive-thru chocolate! Ol Kentucky Chocolates has brought another location to Lexington. Can there ever be enough chocolate? There isn't anything that I've had that isn't delish. I love almost anthing salted caramel. OKC''s Fleur de Sel Caramels are divine, dark chocolate for me. Drive up and gift yourself a bit of goodness.

Yelp
The new location is located in the former spot of Gold Star Chili and features a drive-thru. This is the fourth Lexington location. Old Kentucky Chocolates has been a solid go to if you need a simple Kentucky gift or a chocolate craving yourself! My top 3 favorites in no order would be the Kentucky Derby Chocolate Mints, Chocolate Covered Potato Chips and the Chocolate covered pretzels (the pretzels have really fun red holiday tins, I've used this as a gift dozens of times!) The staff at Old Kentucky Chocolates is always extremely friendly and helpful-- it is fun to see the Holiday decorations they have up to really get you in to the Holiday spirit. Check out the newest location in Palomar!
