Rustic-chic restaurant specializing in elevated dishes from sustainable sources & top-shelf drinks.
"This New American haunt feels almost like a hayloft, one that chef-owner Justin Brunson just happened to haul from his home state of Iowa to LoHi. This isn’t to say Old Major is downhome, exactly—more like stealth upscale. You can indulge in anything involving bacon, ham, or sausage—or, better yet, all three. Depending on the day, the salumi sampler could mortadella, coppa, duck prosciutto, and head cheese. The dynamite pork burger comes with fries cooked in (duh) pork fat. Even the Caesar salad is dressed for the occasion with bacon and a fried egg. That said, the juicy fried chicken has garnered a cult following of its own; it's served on a waffle with both white gravy and maple syrup." - Ruth Tobias
"This Highland favorite is serving a delicate pumpkin risotto this fall that is a notable departure from the restaurant’s usual focus on all things butchered. It’s made with beech mushrooms, mascarpone, and chili pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and is a rare vegetarian option on one of the most meat-centric menus in town." - Rebecca Treon
"Tucked inside Old Major, the Royal Rooster pop-up lunch operates Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. serving fried and roast bird sandwiches, juicy burgers, tacos, and more. Try the classic rooster with dill pickles, mayo, and lettuce all served on a squishy bun." - Lucy Beaugard
"If you’re looking for an evening of rest, don’t miss Old Major’s Sunday ritual: A rotating BBQ dinner, complete with wood burning smoker and a choose-your-own-adventure protein. This week’s feature will be a 12-hour smoked Carolina-style pulled pork accompanied by braised collard greens and cornbread." - Gigi Sukin
"Old Major offers Plates for Pride from 5 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13. Five local chefs, including Old Major's Nohe Weir-Villatoro and Zach Meier of The Nickel, take on four courses for $45. Proceeds will benefit One Colorado and the Gender Identity Center of Colorado." - Camila Navarrette
