So, I started off with Franklin’s Hefeweizen (a brewery right down the road) and all I can say is it was the best Hefe I have EVER had in my life. This one had a bit of a sweeter taste than most Hefe’s have, and although I don’t care for sweet beers, this one really knocked my socks off ($6.50 for a pint). So much that I had to visit Franklin’s brewery a couple of nights late.
So back to the Old Maryland Grill (OMG). I also tried Franklin’s Bombshell Blonde and it was just “OK.”
I ordered the crab cakes – it consisted of two smallish crab cakes for $34. They were perfectly cooked, but they were billed as being lump crab. Instead, it was shredded, so I wasn’t sure how much filler versus crab was in them.
Even better than the crab cakes was the succotash. It consisted of lima beans, tomatoes, onions, smoked mushrooms and sweet corn. It’s a side dish for $8 and was actually large enough for two. It was cooked perfectly and had an awesome smoky taste to it. Succotash may not sound appetizing to some, but I can guarantee you that this dish was like paradise. If you make a trip out here, order it, and order it well!
They have 48 wines served by the glass and four pages of wines by the bottle – I didn’t bother to count those.
