Old Planters Brewing Co in Beverly, MA for a handful of different pours & styles. The second brewery of this particular North Shore, Massachusetts visit I had heard some excellent things about these guys from a couple trustworthy beer friends. With a lot of competition in the area brewery, pub, bar & restaurant wise you have to be able to standout & produce quality nowadays to stay a float. These guys were established in 2014 when two friends Matt & Ben created a licensed brewery in their home cellar. The brewery was named in honor of the "Old Planters", the original settlers of Beverly, MA. With seven different varying styles & a handful of IPA's of course, there was plenty to try. There was five different IPA's, a pilsner, lager, amber & more so let's get into it. 🍻🍻🔥☘ My first pour of the visit was a pint of the FAT TUNA IPA, a excellent & hazy 6.3%ABV with a hoppy, fruity & piney taste. My second pour was a pint of the JACK-O-PLANTER Pumpkin Beer, a average yam beer that checked all the boxes you'd want from a pumpkin beer with nutmeg, cinnamon & ginger. WALK IN THE CLOUDS IPA was my third pint, it was another solid New England hazy, but I felt the previous IPA I had was just slightly better. My last pour was a taster of the HOLY SMOKES Pastry Stout, this was a delicious stout, thick & full of plenty of graham cracker, chocolate & marshmallow flavor. 🍻🍫🍺🔥☘ The place was pretty bumping when I was there with a party, but there was still some room in the taproom to sit. There is all the seating options here including tables, hightops, couches & a handful of bar seats. There was plenty of beer to go here for home or tastings with friends later. The aesthetic was simple with nothing crazy to look at, but it was bright inside which is always a plus in any drinking setting in my opinion. Really fun time & excellent beers here, I'm for sure making a return next time I'm on the North Shore. What can I say. Old Planters is absolutely awesome. The atmosphere, the bartenders and the crowds are so fabulous. Live Music, Drag Shows. fun and excitement. Celebrate your birthday and try one of their incredibly delicious beers. I loved the Trend Chaser. If you're in Beverly, seriously come and check them out.

I went here last Friday night to see a band that I like. Luckily, I read a review before I went that it was loud, so I brought my earplugs, which I needed. The music was way too loud, and I don’t know if that was the establishments’ fault, the bands, or maybe a combination of the two. But I used to manage clubs and bars, when I did, I was in charge of the volume of the music because it was my bar, I paid for the band, and I had an atmosphere I was looking for. I had hoped that Old Planters Brewing Co. would be a cool bar where I could see good music, but the music was so loud that I really couldn’t talk to my friends, or new friends, so the volume turned the place into a concert hall instead of a cool bar with good music. I won’t be going back anytime soon.

This is the best brewery in Beverly! They have a wide variety of great beers on tap so there’s always something for everyone. The staff and owners are all super friendly and welcoming. They also host a wide variety of events (live music, trivia, food trucks, run club, etc.) that are always a good time. We love OP!

A brand new hip vibrant and elegant place with nice crowd. Ten beers on tap, very tasty and fresh. Comfortable cheats and sofas, relaxed atmosphere, quick and pleasant service. I like to be here 😋👍

Old Planters will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been going for years to see my husband play in multiple bands and to simply grab a beer with family or friends. The staff are always so sweet, the service is quick and efficient, and the beer is absolutely delicious. There’s never been a visit when I did not feel welcome. I also really respect and appreciate the fact that they’re so family friendly. I don’t have any kiddos right now, but I look forward to bringing my family to see my husband play music someday. Had a great time here! Such a chill atmosphere! No food is served here just a Yummy selection of beer. It's great that you can order delivery or walk outside and grab some tacos next door. Bring your own food is allowed. The sugar Coated Honey Band's music was great and bartenders were super friendly.

Stopped here to check out a local brewery. We went right when it opened. So obviously it wasn't busy yet. After a little while folks started coming in and most sat at the bar area. It seemed like they were regulars which was good to see. They had a huge screen that was projecting Halloween movies on it since it's Halloween time. There were a couple couches plus seating all around. It was a large open room with the brewing area next door. Overall it was a great place. The beer selections were solid and we had a flight and tried a few different pints.

Canned Fat Tuna had chunks of god knows what in the bottom of the can. Avoid this place as if your life depends on it. Seriously, chunks in a beer?

This is an awesome brewery. Friendly staff, lots of open space, and of course great beer. I came by here to try the nitro cold brew coffee stout in collaboration with local cafe Crave and I was not disappointed. Stouts aren't my favorite kind of beer as they can be too bitter for my liking, but this one was smooth and flavorful. The additional selection of beers intrigued me, particularly the spruce tip IPA, as I have not seen that sold outside of Alaska. I didn't try Old Planters' version this time but I intend to next time I visit. Prices are pretty good for what you get and you can try a beer before you buy if you ask. They have growlers and cans if you want to take some beer home. FYI they only take cards for payment, although they have jars for cash tips. Street parking is abundant on Rantoul Street so even if you have to walk a bit you shouldn't have trouble finding a spot.

It was agreed that this was everyone's favorite brewery we tried in Beverly. They had the most variety and, for me, the best sours. I had the huckleberry as well as the peach, both of which made my face pucker, which is what I want in a sour.

Can't believe this brewery only has 7 reviews so far. Came on a Saturday night and luckily there was an available patio seating out doors. It's first come first serve no reservation but the turnover is pretty fast. Friendly staff and best of all awesome beer selections! IPA, hazy IPA, DIPA, sours and a few on a light side as well. I had two different variety of the Rhino IPA and they were serious quality beers that you must try! Hope to come back again soon.

Awesome place to chill! Nice open space with a few board games too! The staff was friendly and attentive. The two beers I tried were very different but in a good way! I definitely want to keep coming back here. Be sure to check it out!

Fun spot to grab a beer and some nachos from the new place next door--Nacho Taco. Big TVs--when I was there they were playing soccer. Nothing for gluten free folks at the bar unfortunately (other than a seltzer) but otherwise it's a good spot. Couches, bar, high tops, and seats by windows. The windows are garage door style and open which is nice too!

The best spot in Beverly! Such an awesome place to come hang with friends and enjoy good beer. You can bring in your own food or get it delivered. Finally don't have to worry about stores running out of this beer, come right to the source!

This is exactly the type of place that Beverly needed and the owners have delivered! Great atmosphere, great setting, and great beer. Tried 6 different beers (flight + 2 additional) and all were great based on their own style. The price was around the mid 30s and I think very fair for the quality. Although there is no food served the business does partner with local restaurants/food vendors to do frequent pop up food sales. This pop up food style is great! Of course you can also bring your own food or order take out with delivery to the location. I will return! Great place!

They don't take cash and they don't mention it anywhere until you order a round and then you're slightly embarrassed when they tell you that at the bar your cash is no good and you've got to go searching for a credit card which you may or may not have and/or may or may not want to use. Their beer is fine and good. The space is boomy loud and the bar could serve to be three times as large as it is. I do enjoy their beer and will probably just grab to go cans at a place I can pay for them in cash.

We visited Old Planters on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a couple flights. The beer was great, the atmosphere was enjoyable and service was friendly. We will definitely be back!

Understood only beer, understand must order food but then it's from a separate restaurant which didn't have the first two items I ordered off their small menu selection. Then they want your email, phone number, and to physically take your credit card but don't sanitize it before handing it back to you. Nice people though....

Awesome beer here and the location great. Really nice taproom. Rotating beers so there is always something new to try. Usually a good truck here as well.
