Google
Hands down one of the best clam chowders I’ve ever had! The food overall was great, but the chowder stole the show—creamy, full of flavor, and just perfect. Even my 9-year-old, who’s usually picky, couldn’t get enough of it. Big shoutout to Houston for the amazing service—super friendly and on point. Definitely coming back! 👌🍲👏

Google
Worth the wait. Cod curry with bok choy was delicious. Mavericks Chicken sandwich plus chili and a Bloody Mary were also fire. Nom nom nom

Made a stop here on Mother's Day. It was busy, but there was seating in the bar, and service was good. Food was hot and very tasty. Ordered Calamari and fish tacos. Calamari was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Fish tacos were good (should have doubled the shells to keep them from falling apart so quickly). The fish was tender and hot. Well worth a stop.

Google
It's our second visit to Old Princeton Landing. What a great little live music venue! I love the addition of the bar on the back patio. It makes grabbing another beer/cocktail while out back enjoying the show much easier. The staff were friendly and the grounds are kept clean. Were looking forward to our next vosit!

Google
Had a great lunch here out on the patio. I had the Poke Bowl which was delicious & wife had the grilled chicken sandwich which was very very good as well. It was a beautiful day & We'll definitely be back ! Also they are pupper friendly & provide water bowls for them as well.

Google
Was there is see a band....it was crowded! Did not eat. Bar was packed so service was slow. To be expected on a busy event night

Google
Cashier was really nice and friendly. We got the loco moco, fish and chips and the poki appetizer. The fish and chips were good however the batter for the fish was a little bit soggy. The chips were great and well seasoned. Loco moco was a little bland. The poki was fresh however was a little too salty for my taste. Overall the food we got was below average , but still giving them a five star because taste is subjective some food might be salty for me and might not be salty for other people, and some food might be bland for me and can be flavorful for others.

Google
The 3 stars just for the excellent bar service and drinks. The restaurant experience was disappointing, the food took more than 30min when there was no line and when we ordered a side of fries the person at the cashier didn’t tell us that the plate already came with fries. We paid $20 and waited for 3 small pieces of chicken and an entire bag of frozen french fries. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yelp
Best fish tacos I've ever had!!! Service was phenomenal as well, wish I had the employees name so I could give her a shout out. Awesome local spot worth a day trip

Robert O.

Yelp
This is a regular local joint. No frills. Very friendly service. Fish tacos were excellent.

Alexis C.

Yelp
I'd give it 3.5 stars. This place is more pub/bar like rather than a restaurant. Like if I had to describe this place to someone who hasn't been here it's a bar that also serves food on the side but it is a bar not a restaurant. The food itself was pretty good, solid portion size as well. We sat outside so we didn't have a designated server we just ordered at the counter and then when our food was ready we were paged.

Amy R.

Yelp
Love this Local Gem! Just ordered apps, plenty of food to share. Wings, calamari, fries. Order next door grab a beer, is a whole vibe. Never disappoints, always a go to!

Amelia D.

Yelp
We came here on a semi-rainy day with our dog and sat in the large back yard! I was craving seafood so we got the fish tacos Baja style grilled (yum! The red cabbage was almost creamy) and the fish and chips were a bit more decadent but with a hell of a lot of fish. We also split a grilled cheese which was surprisingly delicious and came with a side of fries. We chose to get the vegetable of the day which was as Brussels sprouts. They were topped with Parmesan and were a good attempt although a little greasy for my liking. The woman at the counter was super nice and answered all my questions about the different fish options. You can even order a side of cod on a salad if you want something super healthy. I thought the backyard was nice and there was a fire pit. There was some seating with an overhang which is good for rain. You pick up the food yourself and get your own silverware. Overall, would come back.

Yelp
Stopped by here on my failed attempt to ale it to Maverick Beach ( for sure ya gotta get that beach early or you are walking miles ) anyway this place is right down the hill and thought give it a try Super friendly staff and lots of options on the menu from breakfast through dinner , I opted for simple bacon and eggs. This is typical of Bay Area , one slice toast and 2 bacon but the price runs the same as a full breakfast. The meal and large Diet Coke was just under 19 bucks. However it was very well cooked and very enjoyable Seating inside and out with beach vibe. TV playing some sports and a nice sunny day. For sure with the stop in Did I say how great the people are ? For sure give it a try

Yelp
After checking out Yelp advice and watching the video from sippycupadventures on youtube https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hvbuxZNtMhA We went to have a bite. I asked the cashier what fish was fresh today and we were told Cod. We very much enjoyed the Fresh Cod fish and chips. We will be back for this. There were no bussed tables inside so we sat outdoors. Pleasant but some tables outside didn't have amenities like napkins and vinegar and catsup on them. Unrelated rant: The restroom for customer use is in the bar attached next door to the restaurant and the Men's room was Out Of Order. Women's room was in service. Lucky I just wanted to wash my hands. No employees in sight to ask advice from on how to clean up here after eating deep fried fish and chips ( AKA fries). Note to bar management: Have you heard of those trendy transgender woke triangle thingies people are using these days? Four stars from us after this wash room issue is remedied. Text me please. It is an hour drive one way for us to enjoy your delicious fresh fish.

Sandy L.

Yelp
Customer service was great but the food wasn't that good. We ordered three Fish and Chips and two Clam Chowder yesterday. The fish is so small with big breading and very oily. The "Tartar" sauce is tasteless. The Clam Chowder tastes okay but is watery. :(

William H.

Yelp
Service was great at the food counter but food was very mid. They char their onions until they are black -- it's customary. My friend returned his burger and they did redo it, but gave him the wrong burger -- it was med and he wanted well done. I know I should not be getting a salad at a bar and it was decent enough lightly dressed. That said, the back patio is super nice and great to relax and listen to some music. Be aware they don't take apple pay at the food cashier-- they will take you to the bar to get that done.

James D.

Yelp
Went back again! This time ordered two orders of the best calamari I've ever ever had. Had tacos and chowder as well. The calamari seems to be breaded in a seasoned flour and panko mix. It is lite and crispy and the calamari is oh so so tender. I wish I knew how they did it. The chowder was rich and creamy with chunks of potato and clams. The tacos has grilled fish, cabbage and pico de gallo. I would order any of it again. The service is a walk up counter. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place is a dive but who cares. They have live music on various nights.

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
This place is well located off Highway 1- close to the HMB airport, along the water. Plenty of parking, across from Mezza Luna. No white tablecloths here, but you will find a tasty well cooked meal, salad, soup, main course... and friendly service. You order - get a number - pick up your food. Lots of seating- explore a bit to select your spot. Big variety of food. Come for the live music, and / or after work drink in the large bar area.

Annette M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a local bar with good food and outdoor dog-friendly seating, this is THE Place on the Coast. The food is good and reasonably priced. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and it's so great to bring the doggo with you and sit outside when the weather is nice. If you have not been here yet - go now.

Tim M.

Yelp
Stopped in just before the kitchen closed to grab a late dinner. While the bar is open later (11:00pm), the kitchen closes at 9:00pm. The staff were gracious and accommodating as we ordered the last food for the night. You order food in the kitchen, they give you a buzzer, and you find a table in the bar area. When your food is ready, you get buzzed. We were in the mood for a burger and the cook recommended we try the Markgard family grass fed burger with fries over their standard burger. And thus we did. The Markgard family grass fed burger come with tomato, lettuce and a choice of cheese. I opted for no cheese. The meat was juicy and delicious! The fries were fresh cut style and were fairly standard and seemed to lose their crispness a bit too quickly. Everything in this area seems a bit pricey, as two burgers with fries cost us about $50 (with tip). Yikes! Nonetheless, the grass fed burger was fabulous and the service was friendly, patient, and helpful. I'd recommend the place.

Daisy Z.

Yelp
Was in HMB and decided to try this place. Portions are quite large. Ordered cod Thai curry, clam chowder and chicken strips. All were delicious especially the clam chowder! Staff were friendly. This is a local hangout. Good vibes.

Chris D.

Yelp
It's been a year since we were last here and it's still incredible. The food is still great! The drinks are strong and delicious. The service matches the atmosphere perfectly. Relaxed and accommodating. The dogs loved it too!

Alex E.

Yelp
OPL! This place is simply the best. Amazing beer selection, delectable food and fantastic drinks. We love the Princeton Punch slushy... the combination of texture and flavor is simply perfection. This drink is probably the #1 reason we come to OPL. Attached to the bar is an amazing little kitchen cranking out wonderful fare. Personal favorites would include the Hawaiian Bucket, Classic Cobb Salad & the "I Don't Surf The Maverick" Chicken Sandwich. Everything is delicious, the produce / seafood is locally sourced and you just can't go wrong picking anything off the menu here. This little establishment is community forward and seems to care and respect the neighborhood. The setting at OPL is versatile... the perfect spot to relax after a hike or surf, bring a date, catch a concert on the patio, grab a quick lunch to-go, I even bring my parents here and they love it. Thank you Old Princeton Landing for serving our coastal community. See you soon!

Bruce R.

Yelp
Great calamari. Excellent draft beer. Attentive service w/o hovering. Clean tables & unobtrusive background music We're going back

AW L.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our time here! Lovely afternoon with live music on the front patio and $2 taco party! Friendly folks. Good drinks. Honestly, what's not to love? Thanks OPL! You guys rock!

Tony H.

Yelp
OPL was awesome. The Hawaiian Bucket with pork is where it's at. The cold macaroni salad and the hot rice and kalua pork were the perfect combination. We ate outside at the tables near the stage. The stage is really neat and its wooden design mirrors the beautiful landscape around us. Service was fast and quick, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. I wish I had something like this in CT.

Rick J.

Yelp
My wife and I have been to Old Princeton Landing Public House and Grill two times so far. It's a wonderful place to catch your favorite music acts in a smaller venue. It has surfers motif, long bar, and some table seating. The food kitchen is in the next room. They serve delicious Curry Cod, Hamburgers and other fare. I loved the Curry Cod. The sound system is top notch, well tuned to the room. It can get pretty crowded, but the opportunity to see a band this close is so worth it.

Keith B.

Yelp
Went there to see a local band play. It's a tight space but set up well for live music.

Steve L.

Yelp
Ordered fish & chips and clam chowder. The fish was horrible, very greasy and no flavor. The batter was not cooked through and there was a lot of air between the batter and fish making the pieces look bigger. The clam chowder was outstanding in flavor but just barely warm.

Bill S.

Yelp
The Mrs. and I strolled over to the Old Princeton Landing from Inn at Mavericks last night. We arrived shortly before 6 p.m. and the place was kind of quiet. We found a spot at the corner of the bar. It was a great spot to take in the atmosphere of Old Princeton Landing. Pretty much every barstool was taken. From what I could tell, everyone was a local. Within the bar area, which is a large space, there are several high top tables. There is also seating outside in the front and back of the bar. Victoria was behind the bar and she did an amazing job. Not to mention, she makes a pretty good Manhattan. Around 7 p.m. many of the locals disappeared and the younger crowd came in. I'd venture to guess they were from out of town, but you never know. Most of them just ordered tequila shots and sat at the tables. Food is offered at the Old Princeton Landing, but there is no table service. You have to order your food from the kitchen next door. We decided to take food to go. The Mrs. ordered the Hawaiian Bowl which was rice, topped with Hawaiian macaroni salad, and teriyaki chicken. Kiddo wanted the fish tacos, which she didn't like. The fish is grilled rather than fried. I ordered the Tri-tip sandwich which was really good. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The bread wasn't hard and the fries were crispy. If you're looking for a great casual spot to enjoy a drink in Half Moon Bay, check out Old Princeton Landing.

Patrick R.

Yelp
Food was amazing we got the crab empanadas they even gave us a free one super kind customer service. Everybody was very sweet. They had really good clam chowder and TVs to keep us entertained really enjoyed this place so much so that we went there twice in two days I will definitely go back anytime I go to half Moon Bay

Juan M.

Yelp
Spend the day at El Granada, originally wanted to make it down to HMB. But the beach here is really nice and free. Had the cod special which was amazing with mash potatoes and chard. My son loved the fish tacos. Cool spot we're all the locals hang out. The patio in the back is super nice. Definitely be back, reasonably priced for the area.

Elisabeth B.

Yelp
Portion size were more than expected Friendly employees Small area to eat, however the bar area was packed with patrons

Santi D.

Yelp
Terrible food, calamari was so chewey, loco moco was salty and meat taste like paper. Steak was so dry even request was medium

Amy W.

Yelp
Meh, I went there with a friend on Mother's Day, it was just one of only a few places that didn't have a wait. Well, that is probably b/c they were already out of 30% of their menu. I ordered a child's burger plate - it was fine - but the fries were (sadly) cold. And we split the grilled artichoke - which was jut fun and in season. Even though this place was not at all crowded and the kitchen was offering/preparing less menu items - it still took about 40 mins to get our food. Luckily we were not in a hurry and not too annoyed.

Thomas J.

Yelp
The fish and chips were cooked properly but lacked seasoning. Very bland. Also oily. The clam chowder was also bland. They need to use a lot more salt. The prices were high and they don't actually serve your food it's just a counter pickup which is fine but I'd expect them to bring the food to the table if paying so much.

Mark H.

Yelp
This review is of the restaurant only. The majority of the the food tastes like it is delivered by Sysco and then finalized by frying it. There is no service, so there is absolutely no need to tip...but they'll be a line on your receipt for one. You place your order at the counter and have to pick your food up from the counter. Think McDonald's with a bar next door. They do have a nice back patio area to sit at, but this "grill" is nothing more than mediocre. The bar looks fun though.

Sara B.

Yelp
Ambiance is great! Kind of funky and dive-ish in a good way. Self serve. Order your food at the counter, and go next door to the bar area where you order drinks at the bar. The fish sandwich was excellent. Hubs says it is the best he's ever had. Super friendly bartender and great music.

Carmina D.

Yelp
Came here on a holiday weekend for a drive around the coast. This place had great outdoor seating options to enjoy a nice sunny weekend! There were also booth seats indoors and a bar in the back. We ordered: - Ceviche - Grass Fed Burger (comes with fries) - Silver Star Burger (comes with fries) - Hawaiian Mac Salad The food overall was just ok, nothing really to crave again. Burgers came nicely cooked to Medium but I feel like it was missing that roasty taste to it. The Ceviche was also just ok, it's definitely not the best I've had but not the worst either. The seafood in the ceviche definitely tasted fresh. It tasted like fresh jalapeño without the spice which was nice but I wanted more of a kick, maybe extra limes. The Hawaiian Mac Salad was my favorite though! It was one of the best Hawaiian Mac salads I've had. It was a good portion as well. The macaroni had a bit of a bite to it (not mushy) which I loved! It's typically hard to find parking in this location specially on a nice sunny day. The outdoor seating area is a nice place to enjoy the sun. This place is not kid/baby friendly though as I didn't see any high chairs that would be available for kids. A lot of people seemed to take their food to-go which is a nice option too! Overall, I'm glad I tried this place but don't think I'll be coming back any time soon!

Luke S.

Yelp
Nice venue wear shoes ready for sand if you're coming to a concert because it's on the patio where it's all sand your standing in which is kinda awesome tho. I think they were having sound issues but i can't complain because when the performers came on stage it was perfection. The lighting was really awesome. Ha Afroman did not fail me, he actually never does the guys a great performer. The parking was great and the price was cheap . I mean cmon 30 bucks for a concert, that's awesome.

Bill R.

Yelp
Some of the best chowder on the coast, great fish and chip, poke....everything I've had to eat is really good. And the beer selections and cocktails are fantastic!!

Nick P.

Yelp
This is more of a divey bar than a restaurant. But surprisingly a nice little spot to get brunch if you're in Half Moon Bay. The food is decent for the price. We ordered the spam & eggs and the croque madame. It's really hard to mess up spam & eggs, and here was no exception. No complaints. The croque madame was ok--nothing to write home about, but the Mornay sauce was a bit too floury. The coffee is self serve and pretty decent. However, the hot water available for the tea comes from the same carafes they use for the coffee and are not cleaned thoroughly, so you'll get some coffee grounds in your tea. Overall, good eats. Definitely would come back if in the area.

Ewa U.

Yelp
Excellent little local water hole and eatery nestled along the half moon bay water; from the frozen margaritas to some of the best calamari around (yes, I'm talking great 3:1 ratio of meat to breading!) - this local gem is a perfect weekend spot for a little fun and chill Cali vibes . (no dogs allowed inside, but there's ample outdoor space )

Jo K.

Yelp
Great food, but they can't pour a beer to save their life. No head, and didn't even fill the glass.

Eric R.

Yelp
"Sharks are like dogs, they only bite you if you touch their private parts." - 50 First Dates Loved this spot in the touristy area of Half Moon Bay. Location is ideal where it's a stone's throw to Big Wave Mavericks and 1/4 tank petrol to the City. And for some odd reason it gave me flashbacks to 50 First Dates, but sadly without Drew Barrymore:( Old Princeton Landing Public House & Grill is a cool rustic eatery on the Pacific Coast. The customers include tourists, surfers, locals, and the retired hippies. My visit was during late Spring of '21 and still at the height of the pandemic. I was in the area headed to the iconic Mavericks to take photographs of Big Wave Surfers in the area. I found this place via Yelp after I googled "lunch" in the area. I arrive on a clear day with a crisp in the air. Café tables scattered just outside. On my visit customers were prohibited from dining inside, however I believe it's now open seating since California mandates are not as stringent as before. The menu is eclectic with some being Hawaiian inspired, Cali-Mex inspired and Bed & Breakfast inspired. Burgers and Salads also available. It's nice to know that Açaí bowls and Smoothies can be ordered too. I decided to order the Hawaiian Bucket which was Kalua Pork (shredded) over Steamed Rice & Mac Salad. The Kalua Pork was good but nothing extraordinary about it. On the the other hand, the Mac Salad was one of the best I've ever had! I perused the recent menu and I believe the Hawaiian Bucket added Chicken Teriyaki to the mix. Yum! In the end, I would return to this place with a hella long name lol... Old Princeton Landing Public House & Grill. A pretty cool spot overlooking some fishing boats and sea gulls. It's very dog friendly (for those with fur babies) and the service chill. They also serve local Beer and Cocktails too! Affordable, good bites, with the Pacific Ocean steps away from Capistrano... let's just hope Lucy remembers me... Peace & Love.

Meighan D.

Yelp
honestly not impressive. the only thing that was fresh and flavorful was the clam chowder. everything else lacked salt entirely, and that is the most basic step in seasoning your food. also, most of our food was literally cold when we got it.

Madeline M.

Yelp
Interesting menu items, a full bar, and friendly staff. Noisy inside, but we ate outside and caught a beautiful sunset.

Donna L.

Yelp
Great lunch spot for our bike ride. Owners were kind to let us park all 18 bikes in their back patio. Although it was overcast, Princeton was an awesome place for lunch. My husband and I really enjoyed our fish and chips. We were given 4 pieces of freshly fried cod and chips! Yummy! We'll have to come back to try the rest of the food on the menu! Thanks for accommodating all our bikes and loved your outdoor patio.

Rich L.

Yelp
GARBAGE food. HORRIBLE service.... We had to wait 15 minuets just to order and it took 45 to get the food out. Do yourself a favor and pass this place up

Jessie P.

Yelp
Even on a busy Saturday was able to have a lovely early dinner with my family. Had their burgers, bahn mi and fish and chips. I had a job tax bite of everyone's food and it was absolutely delicious.

miki p.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Good food, great service and fun times! Love that they have a stage in the back and have live music!! We've been here many times and the OPL never disappoints! The Fitz fish & sticks and their burgers are bomb

Karyn M.

Yelp
Best little dive bar ever. Great people, live music and beer on tap. We enjoyed the fish and chips and spent several hours taking to other patrons and raising a glass! Cheers

Leslie Y.

Yelp
Good ol' fish n' chips does the trick. No frill, just perfectly fried fresh catch to satisfy your taste buds. The view ain't bad either, but the patio benches and bar stools are a bit sticky. Order ahead on Yelp and you'll have your fries ready piping hot for pick up within 10 minutes.

Cid Y.

Yelp
The music scene on the Coast starts here. Breakfast waffles are great. This used to be the local dive bar watering hole but Brian Overfelt has upped the game.

Mun C.

Yelp
We loved it when Don, the Chef in Attendance, fixed the problem of our order of watery clam chowder, by bringing out another bowl of chowder, which was better made and much thicker. Our conversation was nice and warm. He redeemed OPL order for the day, and we will definitely return.

pauline t.

Yelp
I like the food.... I'll get a drink here and there, but the bar service is questionable. Had a snarky bartender recently... grumpy, and really bringing down the vibe of the place. Giving his overly opinionated opinions out there from like a New York kind of vibe. We're in Cali. We're in half Moon Bay.... I tend to bring friends into this place, but won't be for a while until they can manage to keep the vibe positive at the bar... Norcal vibes want it to be positive that's why we come to the ocean for some positivity from the negative ions. Not some negativity from the cranky bartender.
