Tea House Chinese Review - Deptford - London - The Infatuation

"Tea House Chinese is a spacious, dimly lit Chinese restaurant on Deptford High Street that’s equally as good for a big family meal (thanks to the deep booths), as it is for a solo midweek dinner when it’s quieter (the dumplings pair well with Netflix). The dim sum isn’t the best we’ve had, and some dishes like smashed cucumber don’t quite hit the spot. But if you’re looking for a good-value, comforting meal in the area, Tea House Chinese is a safe bet. You should know that they serve things like Shanghai stir-fried noodles, soy chicken, and hot pots. But if the prawn and chive dumplings and silky-smooth cheung fun aren’t ticked off your dim sum order sheet, you’re doing it wrong. " - Rianne Shlebak

I went here about a year and a half ago for a field study with my Chinese class, and my group stopped here after a long day of wandering around the city, and I’m so glad we did. Our waitress was very nice, and the service was excellent. When we got the tea, the leaves were arranged like a flower, and when we poured her water into the teapot, the leaves bloomed open like a flower (I wish I took pictures, but we were in a hurry). And the tea. It was the best tea I’d ever tasted. If I remember correctly, it was a tea with silver needles and jasmine. If I ever go to Shanghai again, I will go to the tea house first

The atmosphere was great. You can hear old Chinese songs and look around their small exhibition about Shanghai. Service was good and tea was good but the price was very expensive like 65 CNY for Chinese gongfu tea(?). I enjoyed staying there because I could be away from the crowd on lunar New Year holidays!

Nice place, but prohibitively expensive. 50cny for tea for one person, and if you don't order for everyone, they will actually refuse to serve you at all. Tourist trap, not worth it.

Photos here confuse two very different places. My opinion is about the place which is actually located as per Google maps and where most photos were made. It's the one over tea shop. The place is nice but expensive. The food is TASTELESS. I haven't drunk tea here, but do not eat there! Waste of money

This location is closed and bricked over. It is a very touristy area with buses and tour guides shouting .
