14 Great Barbecue Restaurants in the Twin Cities

"Listen, the influence of Famous Dave’s on the Midwest’s barbecue scene is undeniable, and “Famous” Dave Anderson’s legacy lives on at Old Southern Barbecue, run by his son James and daughter-in-law Colleen. This is a great budget-friendly option — and if you get one thing here, make it the hefty, fall-off-the-bone ribs. All the sides here are on-point, especially the mac-and-cheese and herby potato salad." - Eater Staff

Google
The smell of BBQ led me here for the first time and it didn’t disappoint! Got a BYOBowl , Brisket was tender and flavorful! Was only a little busy due to it being Father’s Day weekend but worth the wait! Will be coming back soon to try rest of menu and sauces!

Google
This place was incredible! Being from Texas, this place reminded me of BBQ from back home! Friendly staff, cool vibes, overall this place was great! Highly recommend if you're looking for some Texas style bbq!

Google
The employee seemed great but the food seemed old. Mac was stuck in one big clump in the bowl and rib tips were jerky or fat pieces.

Google
This BBQ spot has become my go-to since my brother and I discovered it! I absolutely love their rib slab and brisket—both are packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The pickles on the side add a nice touch, but the real star for me is their mashed potatoes. They’re hands-down the best I’ve had in the Twin Cities, so good that I always upgrade to the biggest size! They also have a great variety of BBQ sauces right on the table, so you can mix and match to find the perfect flavor for your taste. The food here is consistently amazing, and it keeps me coming back. Highly recommend for any BBQ lover!

Google
So glad we found this bbq place, its amazing! For 4 people, we tried the ribs, brisket, beef tips, sausage and they gave us a sample of the chicken. All of them were tender and had great flavor. Highly recommended.

Google
The food is fantastic. I had the sampler and was very pleased. Dave's beans are my favorite and I could swear that he stole my grandmother's slaw recipe! We were first time visitors and it was a disappointment to have to stand in the busy entryway trying to read the unfamiliar wall menu and then take up the cashier's time with questions. Maybe we'll order ahead next time.

Google
Brisket portions are smaller than they appear, and the cuts of meat are fatty. Smoked wings were tasty, but dry. Prices aren’t bad, but you will likely be disappointed by the meat portions. Atmosphere is clean. Cornbread muffin tops are the best item we tried. About a 50/50 chance we will return to this BBQ joint.

Google
Small, but clean and not too loud. Food was really good. I had smoked wings 5 pc, they were nice size and tasted really good and the sauces were great!. The potato salad was a little hard, but I think that's because they were getting ready to close, but when I told them, they very apologetic and willing to swap for some very soft delicious cornbread ( probably jiffy) 😁, but it was good.

Yelp
Bbq, chicken and dill potato salad were pretty good. My husband and I were both impressed by the customer service from the moment we ordered to our check in experience while dining in. I also really like the decor here!

Yelp
Not worth it - Ate here a few times. Food isn't bad but it was nothing special. Flavor is neutral enough that it seemed safe for a crowd. Places a curbside to go order. Picked it up in a hurry, absolutely should have checked it. Most of the order was missing. The very modest portions were in huge boxes so it was easy to mistakenly think it looked about right. How embarrassing to arrive at a farewell celebration for a life-long friend with a fraction of the food in hand. I called and they were great. They were apologetic and offered to remake or refund. I thought I would be a loyal customer for life. I will choose passable food if the people/service are good every time. They said all the right things... and did nothing. I called back asking about the refund and was told they take time and to check back. A week later, apologetic promises to make it right. These amounted to nothing. A month later I called and an apologetic but un-empowered "manager" assured me I'd get a call from the GM the next day to sort it out. He said "if you don't get a call, call us back." At this point I said, "If I don't hear back I'll have to call my bank. Sorry." He said that was understandable. Two days later, I called the bank. Now I get to wait 8-10 business days for a form that I have to mail back. Then, it could take several months to get my money back... Entirely not worth the hassle. Nice words mean nothing when they're paired with in-action. BBQ is blowing up in MN, you have MANY other, better options. Avoid the hassle. I figured I'd be back, but after several calls, and now I have another task on my plate... no... not worth the trouble.

Yelp
First things first, I ordered through doordash, and the meal came well packaged (no leaks, spills, food sticking out). My partner got a sandwich, which he liked, and I got 2 kid's meals (realized I'd get more bang for my buck). Each meal came with 1 side, a kids' size drink, and a 2pk of oreos. We also ordered cornbread, which was sweet, soft, moist, and tasty. The ribs and chicken were both good in flavor and texture. For the sauces, got the Southern Gal, which had a mild sweetness, and Chicago Fire, which was low on the spicy scale, but still good. The only con was that the mac and cheese; it was just colored noodles... no visible cheese. Overall, it was a fine experience, and I'd order again.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Easy to find and parking lot up front. We ordered one of the combinations to try and it did not disappoint. Juicy and flavorful. The potato salad was bomb! I'm usually not a potato salad fan, but I was loving these. Plus they have a variety of sauces to choose from. Service was great, ordered at the front counter and someone brings to your table. Ambiance is like a country bar with high tables and chairs.

Yelp
I/2 rack of ribs and rib tips oh my...I was going to take it home but sat down and started to feast If you are Craving meat you got to come here

Yelp
Only ever ordered takeout from here so can't comment on the actual restaurant space but our food has always been pretty decent. I have liked their brisket, pulled pork and ribs they all have a nice smoky flavor. On our last order they did forget to add the bbq sauce even though they charged us , so note to self to always check your bags for correct or missing items before leaving the parking lot! I do think it's little overpriced for portion size but again it is grilled meats and with inflation that's expected

Yelp
The inside was very nice, and reminded me of some TX smokehouses we have been to. Sadly that is where the similarities ended. We got one of the samplers that had sausage, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. The chicken 1/4 was small and very dry, and had no flavor. The brisket was by far the worst, zero smoke flavor, no smoke ring, no seasoning and dry even though it seemed like it was boiled. Honestly it was the worst brisket I have had. The ribs were good and actually had some flavor and smoke taste on them. Sausage had the most flavor and was actually a little spicy (which was good). Pulled pork was average but nothing special. Lastly we had Mac & Cheese which was actually pretty good. 2 stars because the ribs, mac, and sausage were good. If you are looking for authentic Texas BBQ this is not it and wouldn't recommend it.

Yelp
My friend bought ribs from here once and I knew I had to go get some as soon as I had a sample. Absolutely delicious ribs! I added the Chicago fire bbq sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The potatoes in my opinion needed more butter or salt because they were bland to me. Corn bread was soooo good! Definitely spendy as it is ribs however worth every penny! Service was great and loved the decor theme in the restaurant. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After a nail appointment across the street, I decided to grab some lunch and this place did not disappoint! There is a free parking lot attached but if it's busy, there is a free parking garage across the street! There is a garage door, just pull up and it will open. When I first walked in I got heavy famous Dave's vibes. This place was clean and smelled like your classic BBQ joint! The staff here was extremely friendly! I had an excellent customer service experience! I sat down and did not have to wait very long for my food. There were only a couple other people in the restaurant at the time I visited. The menu has sandwiches but also has the option to get meats on their own. Again, pretty typical for a BBQ joint. My food was very tasty' at first I was concerned about the brisket because it looked dry... but it was fork tender and paired very well with all of the BBQ sauces! The pork had a nice flavor on its own and was not overly greasy. Again, the BBQ sauces all paired very well! The Mac a cheese was definitely a star of the show! Creamy, cheesy and a perfect little garlic crunch on top with the breadcrumbs! Some of the best mac and cheese I have had from a BBQ place! The corn bread too was also delicious and was the perfect amount of sweet! It was not dry and had a nice texture! I'm surprised to see negative reviews on the place! (I hadn't looked at the reviews before stopping here) I had a lovely experience and would absolutely go back!

Yelp
Overpriced and poorly smoked. To call this place "Old Southern BBQ" is misleading. Horrible service and an embarrassment
google avatar

Javier M.

Yelp
Terrible bbq. Came here hoping for a halfway decent bbq meal and man was I let down. Brisket was very dry and tough knife barely cut through it. Pork wasn't great either. All in all a very mediocre meal at best. Would I return? Absolutely not!

Yelp
In general, this is a great place, but after waiting 20 minutes tonight, they tell us that they are out of ribs!! Bad form for something that was preordered 90 minutes ago.
google avatar

Jacqueline F.

Yelp
This place was delicious! Didn't expect to find a great BBQ spot in Minnesota! We got the Pittmaster's Feast which came with a whole slab of ribs, whole chicken, pulled pork, cole slaw, beans, and mashed potatoes. You also got a whole bottle of sauce to take home for free. We also ordered an additional side of mac and cheese. My favorite was the ribs. It was more of a dry rub but it was perfect! Not dry at all and whatever seasoning they used on it was perfect. There were several different types of BBQ sauces to choose from but of course my favorite was the sweet and tangy Chicago style sauce. My second favorite was the mashed potatoes. Holy cow the flavor of it was amazing! I'm not a big mashed potatoes person so for me to love theirs means a lot! The chicken was really good as well. I'm not a pulled pork person so I left that for the rest of my family. Ambiance here was pretty chill. Was a rustic feel with wooden tables, both high booth style ones and regular sized tables. We had a big group of 12 so we split up into 3 tables but all was good! Will definitely come here again and highly recommend to anyone in the area!
google avatar

Sharna F.

Yelp
Food is AMAZING, I got the full slab of ribs with original bbq, original bbq has a lil heat but not much, i recommend that sauce or the sweet sauce if you are looking for a regular bbq sauce. and then i got bbq wings with sweet and original combination. SOO good!! Price wasnt bad, mac an cheese is small for $6 but its ok. the meat is a hitter though

Yelp
I have ordered take out from here a couple of times and I am never disappointed when I do. I have gotten the party pack in the past for dinner for 3 people. The smokehouse packs provide a good variety of meats, and sides. My favorite is the ribs and pulled pork. The ribs have a nice crust and are seasoned really well. They let you pick which bbq sauce you want which is nice when ordering for a big group. The creamy coleslaw is good; it is on the sweeter side but not overpowering. The Jimmie beans are decent (I'm not a huge bean person). The last time I ordered just for myself and I got the 2 meat platter with ribs, brisket and coleslaw. I added on a side of the dill potato salad. The potato salad was awesome. Super creamy and seasoned well. Pick up is super easy and there is a parking lot with reserved pick up spots or street parking which makes it easy to get take out. Overall, highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Another Party Pack to be shared with guests. We all found the BBQ hot and flavorful. The ribs were meaty and chewy in a good way. The pulled pork was a generous portion, quite savory and soaked up the BBQ sauce well. The chicken was smoky, tender and tasted wonderfully good. For the two sides Mac & Cheese and Party Corn were chosen. The Mac & Cheese was acceptable but we all agreed was not remarkable. On the other hand the Party Corn proved to be extremely popular with everyone. I for one found it fresh and delicious. For the included bottle of sauce the Chicago Blue got the nod. I found it a traditional tomato based BBQ sauce that seemed to pair well with everything. There were three ribs, some pulled pork, 1/4 chicken and plenty of sauce leftover that made a tasty meal the next day. IMHO Old Southern serves up more than decent BBQ and I for one will be back.
google avatar

Ruki R.

Yelp
Overall, the food was decent, but a bit pricey. I did like the beans, though the portion was small. The corn muffin was good, as was the chicken, but I wouldn't mind a full-sized piece of cornbread, as opposed to this thing called a muffin top. The pickled garnish was good but also too small a portion. (The chicken is tiny, which I've noticed in other places too. I suspect the growers are harvesting them at a much younger age so they don't have to spend as much money feeding them and can get them to market quicker.) The ribs were a bit tough and, I wasn't tasting the smoke as much as I'd like. I will say, it doesn't help that my gums and teeth aren't in the best shape, so there's that. If I return, I'll stick to the chicken and try one of the other meats.
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Service was good. Very helpful. Food looked great but when it came to taste it wasn't the best. We received the food cold and dry when it came to taste the food was bland could hardly taste the "Smokey" taste they promote. Definitely better places else where. Would not come back.

Yelp
So... if you are at all familiar with my reviews you will notice that I often speak in hyperbole. You know, as in the food at a given restaurant is either the absolute best ever or so bad I'd rather lick the banister in a bus station. But BBQ is exactly that. I mean, seriously, who has ever had BBQ that was just meh...? So with that reality as the backdrop I offer this: I love smoking meats and barbecuing in my backyard. And I especially love to grill for birthdays. Last Thursday was my birthday, but I was pout of town so the family was going to celebrate on Sunday (after the Vikings game-- okay... I SO want to comment here on their performance but I dare not go down that rabbit hole... SPIKE THE DAMN BALL) ...deep breath... Because it was *MY* birthday, my wife said I can't cook on my own birthday so she ordered from Old Southern BBQ on France Ave in Minneapolis. We ordered ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket, chicken quarters, and wings with baked beans, slaw and 6 cornbread muffins (which was discovered that they forgot to give us AFTER we got home and they didn't return our call...) It was FANTASTIC! Truly! We will be back-- and I'll be demand free cornbread next time since we've prepaid for them! And for God's sake... KIRK! SPIKE THE DAMN BALL.
google avatar

Daniel P.

Yelp
Showed up with my fiancée to get some bbq and this place was empty... I went to order wings and the guy taking my order went and whispered to two other workers and came back to tell me that would take 30 minutes for wings..... How does a "Southern BBQ" place not have wings prepped?? Are the wings frozen or something? When I asked why it would take 30 minutes... he responded with "the wait for wings was an hour but now it's 30 minutes"... Let me say it again... THE PLACE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. Horrible service. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Some of the best BBQ in town, hands down. The pulled pork sandwich is absolutely amazing, it only leaves you satisfied and wanting more. The icing on the cake is the variety of BBQ sauces. I like to get a few different ones to slather on my sandwich. The mash potatoes are an excellent choice for a side, nice flavor in every bite with bits of potato skin which give a nice texture.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
Boy! This place a disappointment. Everyone was nice enough but they accident charged me twice and due to an equipment malfunction - then brought my food out cold because of the confusion- everyone was nice and they refunded me. But the food itself was less than mediocre.if you need a change from Famous Dave's it's on par with that. Sauces were not good.
google avatar

Dbest R.

Yelp
Food was the best BBQ I've had in MN this far, I have been searching high and low since I moved here from Chicago! Service was great! Ambiance was clean and modern! Definitely returning!

Tom S.

Yelp
Old Southern BBQ catered our daughter's wedding for about 250 guests. Amy and her team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect! They accommodated all of our requests without complaint. The food was amazing, we received a bunch of compliments from the guests. I highly recommend Amy, her staff and Old Southern BBQ!
google avatar

Kelly U.

Yelp
Good general southern barbecue joint in a StLP strip mall. All the staples, lots of choices, good food, fair prices, lots of choices for your taste in sauces! Southern barbecue, good service hard to beat for a great night out or as take home!

Yelp
My first try of a BBQ place in Minneapolis, Old Southern BBQ Smokehouse in Edina. No bad. Ordered the Southern Sampler with a 1/4 smoked chicken, 1/4 pulled pork, 1/4 beef brisket and a sausage link. Also ordered two sides: tangy cole slaw and sweet potatoes. Food was good. Definitely had a smokey flavor. Beef brisket just fell apart, I could cut it with a fork. Pulled pork was moist. Pork ribs were ok and meaty. Sausage link was ok too. The 1/4 chicken was small but had a nice smokey flavor. There are five bottles of different bbq sauces to try. Wish the tangy cole slaw was tangy with horseradish than sweet. I love a bite to my cole slaw. My wife liked the sweet potato side but nothing special. It would have been nice for the food to come hot or at least warm on the plate. Felt like it had been sitting around because it tasted cold. Service is basically ordering your food at the counter and sit down at one of their tables with an order number. The food is brought out to you. Good service...the people are nice. For our first BBQ try, it was a good start. I look forward to comparing it to other Minneapolis places.

Yelp
Obviously good barbecue is found in Missouri or Texas. I ordered Brisket platter which was some slices of brisket, Jimmie beans and a corn muffin top. I am a pellet grill pittmaster and my brisket actually has a smoke ring and smoky flavor. This didn't even smell up my car. The sauce I picked was good. The brisket was tender and not fatty and overcooked as 1 piece didn't even bend. I think this was made a few days ago and microwaved actually. Thankfully I didn't pay $22.99 a pound. I do feel fleeced out of $19.00 which was $17.99 platter plus tax. The Jimmie beans were OK, nothing to write home about and the corn muffin top was good. Some other customer said he liked the smoked wings. I'll put money on it mine are better. The guy working was nice. If you want good barbecue, come to my house or road trip to Kansas City. This was disappointing.

Yelp
Excellent bbq for MN. Went to temporary store in Deli of Lunds in W St. Paul. Excellent service. Delicious bbq ribs!
google avatar

Lorraine T.

Yelp
Really wanted to like it. Ordered delivery and keep in mind I don't live that far. Everything was barely warm. Like when you put leftovers in the microwave and get impatient. Ordered rib tips...again, barely warm greasy food, not good. The sauce was good but the meat was pretty tough hard to chew. Mac and cheese so so, Jimmy beans meh. The only good thing was the cornbread muffin tops. Too bad I only got one when I ordered two

Luann L.

Yelp
great food. rib tips and pulled pork!! love the sauces. definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
Though this review is based on an order placed through DoorDash, the poor review is related to Old Southern BBQ and not the DoorDash delivery person. Poor experience. Not only did the restaurant miss one of the items in our order (which meant that one person needed to wait another hour for his food to be redelivered), but there were STAPLES in my southern garden salad. I called the store and asked for a manager. Spoke with whoever I thought was the manager and they didn't seem to have much concern. Further, he then said he would tell the manager (wasn't I talking to the manager?) and they would issue a refund. Not confident we'll see a refund... but to seem so non-chalant about staples in the food is worrisome.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Old Smokehouse. Ordered a party platter with dill pickle potato salad and Mac and cheese as extra sides. Ordered online for curbside pick-up, the inside is very fun and the staff was very nice. The overall location is busy and parking lot can be somewhat difficult but the food is very tasty. The pulled pork, ribs, and chicken were delicious. Mac and cheese was good, but could have been cheesier. The coleslaw was a good surprise with the addition of pineapple. Will definitely be ordering again.
google avatar

Elijah W.

Yelp
They have a really cool setup with a bunch of good homemade sauces but there is definitely better bbq around. That being said I would still come by occasionally if I was in the area.
google avatar

Annie A.

Yelp
Very good bbq and unique sides! Great service too! We really enjoyed our dinner and would definitely go back!

Issy c.

Yelp
We ordered beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings. The wings came out black with a thick layer of char on them and had to send them back. The brisket came with pickles with bits of American cheese stuck on them. It was like they had scraped off the toppings from someone else's burger and served is. The brisket had pieces of uncooked meat. Not our best experience at this place. Server was very friendly.
google avatar

Gabriel D.

Yelp
I had the brisket, rib tips, smoked half chicken, mac and cheese, and the muffin top. Impressively dry. I could not believe it. The brisket would fibrously tear apart. Even the chicken leg was so charred and dry. I do not understand. Watching them work through orders was chaotic, crjstrated, and uncaring. I see why they push the sauces which all basically taste like sweet baby ray's. Everything I dying for moisture and more flavor. The mac and cheese was so bland. The muffin top was so dry. I cannot believe it. Maybe it was an off evening. But they were extremely busy so nothing should have been sitting that long to be so dry. It was around 6 30 too. If I was comped or given a free meal to try it again. Seriously it would be a maybe and only to know if it is consistently this bad.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
I literally followed my nose to this place. Dry rub ribs are excellent. I don't need all that barbecue sauce. Cornbread too!
google avatar

Yelp
Not close to the real thing unfortunately #SouthernCuisine .... Ordered Old Southern BBQ via Door Dash and ordered a 2 meat combo, half rack of ribs and chicken. Disclaimer: I've lived in south (Alabama, Florida & Texas). First sides Mac & Cheese and sweet potatoes lacked seasoning and flavor. It doesn't take much to provide a good southern flavor index. For meats, I asked for wet for my brisket as I know frequently dry brisket passes for good. The 3 piece rib from the combo and half rack was definitely different with the 3 piece being the highlight of the total $60 meal with a great flavor profile as well as being moist and tender. The half rack not so much. It did have a good bark on it. 3 piece had great bark and a suttle and light smoke ring. Cornbread was okay and coleslaw is always subjective so for that I think it was okay. Overall and unfortunately because we are a BBQ family. It will not be my recommended place. I appreciate them providing a potential BBQ spot in the Twin Cities. If you are used to southern food I would stay away but if you just want Minnesota BBQ not bad. P.S. everyone/ business has a tough day so I will try and go back one more time and hopefully update my review.

Yelp
Being from Texas good BBQ outside of Texas can be a challenge. Well we didn't find good bbq here we found Great bbq! The Que for Two was a great selection... had hot sausage link , chicken and ribs with 3 sides. We chose the sweet potatoes, creamed corn and dill potato salad. I had the pulled pork sandwich with cukes. When they say piled high they aren't kidding .. it was huge. Definitely worth a stop when your in Minneapolis

Yelp
Happened to find this great place when looking for a last minute restaurant on a Saturday night for our family. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, the place was clean, and the food was great. We ordered the meal for six, which included 12 ribs, a whole chicken worth of breasts, thighs and drumsticks, lots of pulled pork, 6 corn cakes, and 3 sides. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and smoky and delicious! The chicken was moist, and the pork was juicy. Loved the variety of sauces, and the quick pickles were just like I make then myself. Well worth the money! We will be back

Josh N.

Yelp
Been here 1000 times probably. It's been amazing 999 times. On top of seeing 4+ people, who ordered after me, get their food before me, my pulled pork sandwich looks like it was "pulled" by a child. And the waitress didn't seem to care less. Thank goodness another location opened in Arden hills

Farmer J.

Yelp
Really off experience today. Used to go there regularly but stopped after after a meal two years ago for my wife's birthday when they gave us a bowl that was missing half the ingredients, promised to send us a gift card and didn't. Went back today as prior to that experience, they had been fantastic, so much so in fact that I held multiple full frequent customer rewards cards (more on that later). Today the sides were in bad shape, potato salad was overcooked mushy potatoes with too much dressing or mayo. It had a "miracle whip" consistency and taste. The beans were good but super watery, the Mac and cheese was runny and the taste was off, the kids wouldn't eat it. The pulled pork bowl ended up being tough chopped pork with fat all through it, so inedible. The ribs were decent, but at $33 for a full rack, was not wow'd. The membrane was not removed so the flavor didn't penetrate. This is an amateur mistake. I had better ribs at Dickeys recently and that shouldn't be the case. Old southern set the bar high in the past! They Wouldn't let me use more than one of the $5 rewards that I earned (have 3 full punch cards from buying $225 in Food. Wouldn't let me buy famous Dave's recipe book without buying an $80 Father's Day pack when I can turn around and buy the book straight off of Amazon for under $20. Dave needs to keep better tabs on his restaurants. The quality is slipping like it did with famous Dave's. It's been so great in the past, pretty disappointing Father's Day lunch. Dave you are better than this! When you do BBQ right, it's amazing!

Yelp
I've ordered from this place 10 times and it's 10 times too many. It's always hit and miss with the ribs. I don't like ribs that fall off the bone & I love some tug and pull. Unfortunately, this place is all tug where you can't even get the 70% of meat off the bone 50% of the time. I will never order from here again and I've spoken to the manager. I'll try to find a new place......

Yelp
Top notch BBQ in Minneapolis. We order at least once a month and enjoy everything on the menu. The Southern Sampler is the absolute best along with a side of mac and cheese with bread crumbs on top. Along with great food, the people are great from the owners on down. We enjoy everything about this place! Sincerely, your neighbors in Edina :)

Yelp
Nothing remarkable at all about this bbq establishment. I ordered the Memphis combo with: Tangy Coleslaw Shredded Green and Red Cabbage in a Sweet & Tangy Vinaigrette  What I received was a cup of coleslaw mix you can buy at Wal-Mart, with an eyedropper of said vinaigrette. Oh, and a word warning - prepare for a combo of kid's meal portions (I wasn't). Maybe my order got mixed up or there's a meat shortage at the ol' smokehouse. *shrug* I'll say the cornbread was delicious and the sauces are actually very good though. But that isn't what makes a smokehouse BBQ joint "good". I should've known going to Edina for bbq wasnt the brightest idea to begin with. Lesson learned - most likely won't be coming back but at least I can say I tried.

Yelp
Amy and Old Southern BBQ was so great and easy to work with! We used them for our rehearsal dinner. The service, food, and price were all fantastic and Amy let us sit down with her to taste test prior to ordering. She was so professional and we highly recommend Old Southern BBQ for any of your catering needs.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Old Southern BBQ Smokehouse for a while because I drive by it often and it's always looked enticing. All I can say is I've been missing out! My boyfriend and I ordered food for delivery so I can't comment on the interior of the restaurant or staff at this point. I had a brisket burger with coleslaw and my boyfriend got the two meat platter with coleslaw and cornbread. We ordered Mac and cheese and quick cukes for sides. If the food was this good as takeout, it must be out of this world fresh at the restaurant! I LOVED my brisket burger. The meat was deliciously smoked, and the burger sauce and melty cheese were divine. The meat was so tender! The coleslaw was creamy and sweet, very fresh. The mac and cheese was really good as well and I loved the garlic crumble topping. I would have liked it just a tad bit cheesier, but that is a very minor thing and I still enjoyed the mac and cheese a lot. My boyfriend got brisket and ribs for his meats and they were really good too! The meat is smoked just right and very tender. The sauces we got were flavorful and paired well with the meat. The quick cukes were a fun little side. They were sweet but not overly so. Overall this was a great experience and I am really looking forward to eating there in person when I feel more comfortable doing restaurant dining again. Until then, I will definitely be coming back here for takeout!

Yelp
I was back at one of my favorite spots @oldsouthernbbq this past weekend and tried the Tacos for the first time. The flavor was amazing! Known for their delicious BBQ, the Tacos pair up perfectly with any of their dishes!

Yelp
Fantastic food. Muffin tops were excellent and a brilliant idea. The prices were good and they are generous with amount of food. Definitely will return.
