Old Town Grocery

I shop here daily out of convenience. Sure the prices are high but the owners have never been anything but nice to me. Another reviewer was dishonest and said they don't allow backpacks which is a lie because I've gone into that store a million times with my bag but I also DO NOT STEAL WHEN I GO IN!! I pick what I want quickly, pay and leave. You know what it is before you walk into a store like that anyway especially in the heart of China town. I've been in there and watched people grab items and just blatantly walk out while she was ringing up my items and couldn't do anything about it. The owners are also women by the way. It's one of the ONLY near by stores in Chinatown so just be glad we have one at all and how about treating them with respect and stop stealing form them andayhe prices wouldn't be quite as bad. They get robbed by the fetty users down there everyday.

So glad this store is here. Very friendly owners who have resisted immense challenges in the neighborhood. Please support this small business in our Old Town China Town!

The woman who runs this place really seems to hate people! Expect rudeness and dishonesty (after browsing for 45-60 seconds, she'll tell you to hurry up and buy your things and get out, claiming, "I have to lock the door!" - but when customers leave, she never locks the door ... 🙄) This store refuses to take EBT and doesn't allow purses, shopping bags, or backpacks. The worst thing is the price gouging, though: $8 for PopTarts; $3 for a Coke, etc. It's the only thing open at 8:00 a.m. in Old Town and she takes full advantage of that fact! The closest place is Chinatown Convenience Store on NW 3rd. The diner is really nice and his prices are better - but lately, he doesn't open before 10:00 or 11:00 am. The closest spot that's open before 10:00 or 11:00 is Helen's Market up on Burnside.

I've been coming here almost everyday for over a year. It's a bit spendy, but the two ladies and one gentlemen that works there, as long as you don't steal or cause some tomfoolery when your high on meth, they are such pleasant and respectful people

Love this corner store. The couple that owns it are wonderful people. A few months ago the EBT was not approved for them. They had to reapply and are now accepting food stamps. Just like you have a yearly form to keep getting benefits they were having a hard time getting approved when covid shut everything down.

I love the historical buildings. Nice staff. I will definitely go back in.

This place is an amazing little hole in the wall grocery. The lady and the counter is a sweet heart!

I was wandering around one nice Sunday Morning and wondered - Where can I find an ATM around these parts? One neighbourhood bank had their ATM removed, which made me wonder about the current state of urban renewal. So after passing the local homeless shelter, I found Old Town Grocery and an ATM. The store clerk was friendly, the machine worked, and after a small snack purchase (in gratitude), I was on my way. This turned out to be a random encounter of a good kind.
