Step into California’s early days at Old Town San Diego, a living history park celebrated by Condé Nast Traveler and the Michelin Green Guide. This vibrant district preserves 19th-century adobe buildings, museums, and family-run eateries serving authentic Mexican and Californio cuisine. Live music, local artisans, and historical reenactments bring the area to life. Strolling these plazas, you’ll get a genuine sense of San Diego’s multicultural roots and a chance to support independent craftspeople and chefs still shaping the neighborhood’s character.

Old Town is a great place to visit. It’s like a living museum with fantastic Mexican food all around. I’m not sure what could be better?! It’s walkable and family friendly. There’s a trolley stop next to it along with decent parking. Some of the buildings are open with static displays showing the history of San Diego. There are Park Rangers and an information office in case you have any questions.

Pretty average tourist area with some nice history plaques near each building and agood information center. Lots of touristy trinkets to purchase at tourist prices. Very easy walk through the whole town. Employees are dressed in historically correct clothing in many of the shops. Plenty of food available at several vendors on the property.

A piece of invaluable Mexican and American culture. It’s a huge city by itself with lots of Mexican restaurants and eateries around. One needs to spend at least 2hr here roaming around the entire old town. Free parking available in Parking Lot A, B, C and D around the state park for 4hrs. Restrooms, parks, picnic spots all available within the park.

Loved this place. It is a must visit for any tourist. Its huge and spreads out for many blocks with restaurants and shops. Live music and even a broken down old museum like place (doesn't have much though).

A nice state park filled with history. I had a pleasant experience walking around and seeing the historic houses and museums. The Fiesta de Reyes area had nice variety of food and shops. Parking is free, and there is no entrance fee.

If you visit San Diego, this is a must visit. Exquisitely well maintained park with museum like exhibits showcasing immersive Californian history. You will learn a lot about Californian history with live settings and guides and of course stores and restaurants. Plenty of free parking. Lots of walking trails and it’s easy to spend atleast half a day here. The restaurants have good service and plenty of seating in a historical and well maintained area. Highly recommended especially with curious kids who enjoy history.

Overall a great experience to learn more about the history of Old Town and what made this place significant. The 'placitas' are really great with artisan crafts and mercados through out. Staff were amicable and helpful for answering questions. The utility box art was a great touch as it took a bland metal box and converted to a relevant piece.

Old Town San Diego is a great place to visit to learn more about the birth place of this wonderful city. Many of the original buildings from the 1800s are still standing, and you can enter most of them. There is also many small shops where you can buy crafts, clothing, and many other items. There also a few restaurants available if you get hungry.
