After spending some time at the Farmers Market, my boyfriend and I decided to try Old Town Tap. The menu sounded good, and it was relatively busy.
We had a terrible experience with the service and our food. The waitress took a while to acknowledge us and the first thing she asked was do you want anything to drink? She didn’t introduce herself, explain the menu or specials, she answered one question about a dish, took our order, and then walked away. She was not personable at all and didn’t recommend anything on the menu. As someone in the hospitality industry, I expect attentive service at a pricey full service restaurant.
Once we received our mushroom pizza, the waitress returned but didn’t ask how it was or if we needed anything. Additionally, we had to ask the bartender for a cup of ice since a bottle of warm water was placed on our table. Shout out to the bartender!
The pizza was oily, bland and doughy, which wasn’t particularly appetizing. I had one small slice and couldn’t eat anymore. The dough had a weird taste, and I’m not sure why. Consider adding a garnish like fresh herbs or arugula for some color… Had the waitress been more observant, she would have noticed amongst two people we only ate half of one 12 in pie. The next time we saw her as it was hard to track her down we immediately asked for the check and a box. Those should have been three obvious “red flags” regarding our experience, and perhaps that should have alerted her to have a manager touch our table.
I entered the restaurant slightly hungry and left starving.
