Great place, had the Cheesesteak, added onions, sweet peppers, and mushrooms. Amazing flavor. Chose the American cheese. Did not disapoint. Also had the cheesesteak eggrolls and the mango haberno wings. All reasonably priced, great service. They need more business.

Google
I heard this place serves authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks in NYC. They most certainly do. I’ve been to Philadelphia and it’s just as good as any cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. It’ way better than Pat’s or Geno’s. However you shouldn’t go to those places for an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks anyways. I heard the owner is actually from Philadelphia which makes sense on how good they are. The special is a cheesesteak fried and a beer or soda. Of course I got the beer lol. And it’s all for $20 how can you go wrong in?

Toni Lewis

Google
We had the authentic cheesesteak lunch-time deal with a beer and fries for $20 and it was unreal! The cheesesteak was so juicy, flavoursome and piping hot, tasted so good! Fries were seasoned really well. The Old City amber ale was great too. I highly recommend this place, me and my fiancée loved it! Svetlana made the whole experience even better her service was the best in NYC!

Google
Unbelievable!!!! This is one of best Cheesesteaks I have ever had. The roll was was perfect for the meat and cheese. I wanted the Authentic with Whiz and fried onions. It did not disappoint. I’m a foodie and I will definitely be back, when I’m a lot hungrier. Frankie my Server is top notch, made me feel welcome and made sure everything was great!! I would give 10 Stars!!!!!

Google
LOVE the broccoli sandwich special, but adding chicken steak. The combo of broccoli + chicken goes together so well. I love that the sandwich is flavorful and not greasy at all. The sub bread quality is unbelievable and helps make the sandwich - not stale, good flavor, soft but also crusty enough to hold up to the fillings. I like to order mine with a side of marinara (which I appreciate they sell on the side so the sandwich doesn’t deliver soggy).

Google
Absolute vibe here. The authentic cheesesteak was everything I hoped for and more including the fries (chefs kiss) Our Server Svetlana was so lovely, welcoming, friendly and hospitable helping with recommendations to help elevate our experience. The atmosphere was a true American bar vibe which is exactly what a tourist wants the experience and the music was top tier! Highly recommend visiting here!

Google
Absolutely delicious Philly cheese steak. Believe I know about Philly cheese steaks, to the point that my friends and family make fun of me because of it. This place is high up there. Definitely top 3 places for me personally.

Google
We came in for some food after a game, everything we got tasted great!! The bartender/ server is so nice and come to check on us so many times she is amazing! The atmosphere was low key, everyone was nice and the music was great.

Yelp
6 months later, Lisa was still perfect. Really nice experience. I enjoyed curated cocktails. First bartender (Zach) listened to me and made me a cocktail perfect for what I asked him for. Second bartender (Lisa) took over seamlessly and gave a great end of my service. Really good, really friendly team.

Yelp
A comfortable neighborhood bar - especially if you're a Philadelphia Eagles fan. We stopped in on a NFL Sunday afternoon. The bar was full with Eagles fans, as were most of the tables. The cocktails were better than we expected them to be. The Cheesesteaks were similar to what you would find at a better restaurant in Philadelphia. The service was attentive.

Yelp
I'm sorry this a review for the new upper east side location but I'm pretty sure I can blanket it. When I say these folks understand the art of cheesesteak. THEY DO! Service was phenomenal. Evan I believe the owner's name was very welcoming. I ordered the ghost cheese on my steak whew!!!!!!! It's hot for sure and worth the extra fun bucks. The fries were real great real American damn they make me not want fries from other places. One thing Philly natives know how to do is make great American cuisine. The decor is cool it's a real sports bar vibe. Make sure you pop out

Yelp
Food and Service was amazing. They were patient and answered all of our questions. They have multiple cheese selections and fries

Yelp
Wow!! Found a diamond in the rough!! Great phillly sandwich, awesome atmosphere and great service !! Highly recommend this bar/grill! We will be back...when we visit! From Austin, Texas "Hook'em"!

Yelp
This was a great sandwich. I walked miles to get there and would do it again. Next time I'm in NYC I'll be going there.

Yelp
Had dinner in here the night of a Phillies baseball game and had no idea I was in NYC. This is definitely an all thing Philadelphia sports bar. The cheesesteak was delicious and perfectly cooked. I got ghost pepper cheese and it was serious! Fries Italian style, were ok. They had great flavor but were lukewarm and that's a no from me. Great service and atmosphere.

Yelp
What a great find! My BFF and I were trying to find another place, but the directions on Google had us going everywhere but. So we decided after 20 mins of walking around 2-3 city blocks to have some beer and a philly cheesesteak after a long day of travelling. I am sure other reviews will be better at raving about this place, but here are my 2 cents. -beer-there's great happy hour offerings....we got a pitcher -the cheese steaks-made me happy and was tasty...enough said -service-friendly. she didn't hover and she didn't rush us out the place. We got to sit, chat, enjoy our meal and decompress. -If you like sports, there's tons of tv monitors for you to pick Definitely will come back here next time I am in the city. Unless Google maps messes with me again. Cheers!

Yelp
Discovered this place after seeing a show. I got the garlic aioli cheesesteak and Italian fries. The fries were $8 which I felt were pretty overpriced for the amount we received. I loved my cheesesteak - glad I didn't have to travel all the way to Philly for it! (I've driven to Philly just for cheesesteaks!) It was empty being that it was a Wednesday night but our food came out quickly. The decor was Philly themed highlighting their teams. They get their bread from Philly which makes the cheesesteak taste more authentic!

Yelp
Olde City is a Philadelphia oasis in a New York desert, but it has something to offer for everyone. The Buffalo wings, in my well-informed opinion, are the best in the city. They are bigger, meatier, and juicier than you would expect. The sauce is tangy, delicious, and packs an appropriate kick, and somehow the skin is surprisingly crispy. The cheesesteaks are also verified delicious. The flavor hits like Brian Dawkins in his prime, or that time Sheldon Brown lit up Reggie Bush in the Saints' backfield. You know the one. The service is also great. Our bartender was friendly and available, even on a busy night. As to ambiance, this is an excellent, classic sports bar for anyone. But for the Philly sports diaspora, there is no better place in this city for a gameday experience.

Yelp
This place exceeded my expectations. I was in the area and wanted to try a new place for dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was a little bit surprised to see that it was a bar. But looks can be deceiving. They also have two other NYC locations, so I figured they can't be doing too bad for themselves. Even though this restaurant specializes in cheesesteaks, my heart was set on having a chicken sandwich tonight. I ordered their garlic aioli crispy chicken sandwich which comes with provolone cheese. I also added broccoli rabe to my sandwich because I was inspired by another item on their menu (the special). They were able to accommodate for an extra $2. Even though I did not have a cheesesteak, I did order a chicken one to go (they make cheesesteaks with beef OR chicken which is cool), so I will update my review once I try it. The bar wasn't a restaurant I would typically eat at. It was really dimly lit and mostly people drinking/ eating by the bar (although they did have full sized tables too). Since the restaurant caters mostly to bar-goers, I did have to flag down the waiters a few times to get their attention. Aside from that, the service was pretty good and my food came out quickly. Even though this chicken sandwich did not come with fries or other sides, it was actually very filling surprisingly. The chicken piece was hearty and crispy and the broccoli rabe was as such a nice addition. It tasted so good with the melted provolone. The garlic aioli was also delicious. I had to take a bit off though because they lay it on thick. In general I thought the prices here were reasonable for the sandwiches but a little on the high side for some other items. $18 for wings seems a bit much (though I don't know how many you get). I'm looking forward to trying the Philly cheesesteak at some point this week.

Yelp
The prices are good the sandwiches are good the staff is nice. I was expensing my Philly cheesesteak to be more tasty cause of the reviews
google avatar

Austin K.

Yelp
YUM. Philly husband-approved cheesesteaks. Bread was nice and chewy, not too thick, meat was moist and well-seasoned. Exceeded expectations. Onion rings and buffalo cauliflower bites also good. Happy hour prices on drafts and sides, quick and friendly service on a Wednesday evening. Small and dim, but clean, sports bar. Added to my favorites!

Oh A.

Yelp
The original philly and the garlic aioli are really good. Inside is a relaxed bar. I just wish they kept the egg rolls instead of the spring rolls they have now.

Yelp
Looking for a perfect sports pub in the city paired with the best Cheesesteaks? Stop by @ loveoldcity If you're looking for sports, craft beers, wings and burgers this is the place that you must go to! Bring all your friends for sports games, parties and more. The environment was super inviting. Such cool bartenders to help with anything you need even special custom cocktails. We had the Parm Wings, Spicy Honey Tenders, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Paired With The Tasiest Pub Cheesesteak so yummy! We loved this place so much we'd go again!! Even if there isn't any sports playing, we just loved those Philly cheesesteaks

Yelp
We stumbled across this place for a weekday lunch and we are so glad we did. They have a great lunch special deal where you can get a cheesesteak, fries, and a soda or beer for a very affordable price. Because of how heavy the meal was, we split one lunch special between two people and they even offered to split it into two plates for us. The fries were so crispy and well seasoned. And the cheesesteak reminded me of my Philly days. We got iced tea since we needed to go back to work after but it was served in cute Kona cups. Our server was also so friendly and kind and really made our day. So glad we discovered this place

Yelp
Unfortunately found this place on our last night in NY. Sometime you just want food that is just casual and not too fancy. The kind of place where everybody knows your name, even though they didn't know mine. Split the cheesesteak and fries with my wife. Food was fresh and hot. We each got a couple of drinks which were cold and delicious. Great late night spot. Bartender (forgot his name) was friendly and personable. I will no doubt stop here again on my next trip. Forgot to mention, lots of TVs for sports. They are a "Philadelphia" bar but let's not hold that against them. When we where there at 1am they were showing live overseas soccer and basketball games If I was a local I would be a regular. My kinda place.
google avatar

Marlon L.

Yelp
I saw the IG video & had to check it out. I have 2 Philly spots & won't hesitate to make a detour anytime I'm on my way South. Their bread was the best I had outside of Philly. I don't eat red meat often, but had the habanero one to try it. It was good. The chicken w/ mushrooms & sweet peppers was as close to what I'm used to! The service was excellent. Cool bar & what seems like an all day HH! Too bad I'm only in the City to work. Would def take advantage of that! LOL!

O D.

Yelp
The only word I can use to describe this place is nasty. Do NOT order food from here. For one, they gave the wrong order. The "food" they gave me was extremely overpriced, and honestly just disgusting. To the point where it's like - how do you even make something as simple as a cheesesteak THAT disgusting. Anyways, if you're thinking about ever eating food from this place simply don't. Save yourself the trouble and get pretty much anything else in a 10-mile radius.
google avatar

Neleh H.

Yelp
Can't comment on the restaurant but we were glad to see they do deliveries hella late at night. After a day of travel. Philly cheesesteak delivery to hotel is bliss! Very tasty, delivered hot. I kinda prefer more onion/ veg stuff- but still satisfying. Scarfed it down immediately so no photo

Yelp
If you're a Philly sports fan in NYC, this is the place for you to watch games. Husband and I were looking for food at midnight and came across this bar. We split a cheesesteak (my half in the pic) and fries. The amount of food was perfect for the two of us. The meat was perfect and the fries were crispy which I love! The bartender working the night shift tonight was super friendly. Would come back again if we were staying longer
google avatar

Kaitlin B.

Yelp
Ordered lunch for pick up - my husband and I got the original cheesesteak with colby sharp cheese and peppers, the hot honey fried chicken sandwich, and the old bay fries with cheese sauce on the side and split everything evenly. Everything was phenomenal. Flavors were on point, fries were crispy and portions were fair. We live down the road and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I recently scheduled a meet up to watch the Playoffs games with a bunch of guys at Olde City. Since the 76ers were playing the Nets, this was a great time to be at the bar as it is an authentic Philadelphia bar. The bartenders were amazing. Beers were on tap and so was the cider I enjoy. My Philly cheese steak was amazing. It's nice to have a bar not limit you to bar food. Those Jawns hit home in a way that I needed. There were old bay fries. Also had the onion rings and one guy in our party had some sort of ghost pepper cheese and his Philly cheesesteak. We even got free Philly 76ers t-shirts in my favorite color blue from the bartenders! This is a great bar for people from Philly and those of us who are New Yorkers but are Philly adjacent. If you are looking for a Philly cheese, steak, in Hell's kitchen, this is the place to come. If you are looking for a Philly cheesesteak and you are in times square, this is the place to come. I would even walk here from 34th Street. My only regret is not taking one to go.

Yelp
I think this is my favorite place for a cheesesteak in the city! This might be even better than those in Philly (I haven't been in a couple years but from what I remember this would be better). At 5:30pm on a Thursday before a Broadway show, the bar had 3 parties and one party was at a table. It definitely became a bit more busy as time went on but still continued to be a relaxed and chill environment. This place has has a great happy hour on weekdays from 4-7 (as well as a late night happy hour). Their paper menu notates in stars the drafts that are available for $6 during happy hour. In addition, they have well drinks for $7, a list of cocktails for $12, list of wine for $10, and 4 snacks for $5. My friend and I ordered whiskey and ginger well drinks, and Italian fries off the happy hour menu. The waitress/bartender was amazing and explained to us that while it is a smaller portion of the happy hour menu, it was still a decent sized portion (and she wasn't wrong!). Additionally, I ordered the Mango Habanero Cheesesteak (in which the waitress/bartender showed a little concern and asked if I liked spicy stuff which I appreciate) and I loved it. The mango habanero added a mild kick the to cheesesteak and was oh so good! Additionally, the hoagie was nice and crispy with a surprising amount of steak in the sandwich and it didn't fall apart as soon as you picked it up which is amazing! My friend ordered the Authentic Cheesesteak with Whiz, fried onions, and mushrooms and agreed this was the best place in the city for cheesesteaks! We will definitely be coming back and recommending more people to Olde City! One more thing, when the waitress/bartender's shift ended she went by every table and let them know which is thoughtful.
google avatar

Christopher N.

Yelp
Not gonna lie, the place smelled like a toilet when I walked in. Had passed Sticky's on the walk over and was tempted, but kept it trucking to Olde City because I wanted to try something I hadn't had before. Still not sure if that was for better or worse! Service was.. interesting. It was late and I was pretty tired and the bartender was trying to mess around with me but I just wasn't up for it and she wasn't really taking the hint. No big deal though, didn't seem like there were bad intentions. It took a little over 30 minutes for my order (2 cheesesteaks and bacon cheese fries) to be ready. The cheesesteaks were pretty good! Hit the spot and they were filling. Definitely recommend getting them with fried onions. Cheese fries were decent, probably didn't need them but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. So all in all good food but kind of an odd bar.
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
This is the worst experience of ordered food I have ever had. Tiny sandwich, burned steak and nothing like what they said. Had peppers instead of onions. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLAC
google avatar

Scot B.

Yelp
Have to try the classic cheesesteak with whiz. One of the best cheesesteaks in the city. Service was fast and the bartender was nice. Fairly priced given the location. It is a Philly bar so the TVs play the Philly games. Overall good experience.
google avatar

Renato C.

Yelp
Family owned and still serving authentic cheesesteaks. Definitely coming back for more on my next rip!

Janet D.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic. We've been here a few times pre-theater. Usually very friendly and decent to have a conversation but today at 5 PM the music was turned up so loud could not hear myself think and the person working barely talked. She seemed uninterested in anyone. More like a club than a restaurant. Next time I'll choose another. Not worth the headache for the food.
google avatar

Lamont B.

Yelp
Sauced Spicy-Honey wings and Old Bay-Fries was a good choice while we watch the Giants game. Our host was very informative with various options and recommendations from the menu and based off her expertise! I would definitely recommend this location if you're in 9th Ave neighborhood..
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Best cheesesteak I've had in years and wings were great, with good beer. Old Bay fries were a nice surprise. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Quick counter service. Enjoyed a cheesesteak and a beer while watching the game on TVs which were set up right on eye-line behind the bar. Specialty cheesesteak with BBQ and bacon was a nice change of pace.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Amazing cheesesteaks! Super tasty and huge! Loved their fries as well. Had a couple beers with the food and the staff was super friendly and quick. Really cool spot and I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Great quick affordable bite in the city! The cheesesteaks are super tasty and we loved the fries with old bay seasoning and cheese. Staff is friendly as well, will definitely be back!

Brett N.

Yelp
I don't really have anytime say ever. The best cheese steak I have EVER had! Omg if I knew it was as like my hometown bar I would've just went there and ate it on site! BTW I would never give anywhere a 5. So yes they get my highest rating.

Mike_ B.

Yelp
Right off entry the place is dimly light, very nice music (at least to my generation) which sets the vibe off right. You get seated, get handed menus and all is good. Our server, Ariz was great. He made us some great mocktails which were delicious. 10/10 recommend if you're visiting or even a tourist.
google avatar

Gigi D.

Yelp
Hate to write bad reviews but buffalo wings are not the best ones. I was expecting a great experience since the menu has so many wings options felt like they had to be good at wings. But no. Not happy with tenders . Blue cheese sauce was not good. And philly cheese steak again not good. If you are fan of these foods and looking for the original taste this place is not for you.

Samir K.

Yelp
It was 12:30am at 15th of February, which btw is my birthday, I met my friend at Penn station, both literally starving. Looking around for a food, found this plase nearby, seen some pictures of beautiful cheesesteak We had a luck to meet a guy, the real reason of this review, Alek! Highest possible service provided, he got us enrolled in some kind of promotion which I didn't really know about, which discounted us like 10$. By the end at the moment we were about to leave I just shared with Alek that it's my bday just now and it's first place we came to and it was great not only because of food but his service! Hearing that we got offered some drinks on house! Definitely the place I would come to every time I'm around!
google avatar

Malinda M.

Yelp
The best cheesesteak I have ever had. The chicken tenders and chicken sandwich were amazing as well. I highly recommend. It's a hole in the wall style place but the food was amazing.
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
This is not a tourist place, but it's a really cool little bar with good food. I had the chicken cheesesteak and it was phenomenal, onion rings are good as well. Great atmosphere and good service.
google avatar

Denzale B.

Yelp
Best philly cheesesteak in NYC!!! Amazing atmosphere and they have the games playing. The drinks are amazing and the service is excellent!
google avatar

Pete K.

Yelp
When you walk in, you'll quickly realize this is a bar and not a restaurant. Don't let that deter you! I sat down at the bar right around 6pm. There were several side tables also open for parties or 2 and 4. Bartender was very attentive and I ordered a draft beer from their decent selection. The menu has many Cheesesteak options, but I opted for a classic with Whiz and added the options fried onions. I passed on green peppers. I splurged on the calories and also ordered fries. Before my food arrived, it got significantly busier, with most every seat taken. A DJ finished setting up and started cranking some tunes, so it got a little louder, but not too bad. My cheesesteak arrived in a basket, cut in half. Perfectly crisp lightly batter-coated fries are a large order and in their own basket. The sandwich was large enough to split, but too tasty to do so. The soft bun was filled with the right balance of tasty meat, whiz, and onions. This was easily one of THE best cheesesteaks I have ever had. Cooked perfectly, and you can tell it's high-quality meat. I won't hesitate to eat here again.

Michael ..

Yelp
The picture says all you need to know. Awful product, barely wrapped and complete bait and switch from their menu. Ripoff
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
I've been patiently awaiting the olde city to open up in my neighborhood. I finally got to try it today and was not disappointed! I got the lunch deal which is a cheesesteak, fries, and beer for I believe $19. The cheesesteak was delicious! I love cheesesteak and I can say this is a great one! The old bay fries were yummy as well. I polished it all off with a draft goose island beer. They seemed to have a good draft selection. Not going to lie I didn't have the best morning and was really appreciative of the super nice bartender. She provided great service! I look forward to coming back here to watch sports and enjoy some great food!
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Friendly service. Asked if all was good several times. Did we need anything else. Cheesesteak was very good. And for the price they charge, a very good portion. Beer was cool, not American cold. Salad had a touch too much dressing but good. Order the dressing on the side. We suggest stopping.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and the service was amazing. Highly recommend this bar to anyone, especially if you love PA teams.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Mein erstes echtes Philly Cheese Steak in New York! Und ich würde es wieder hier essen! Eine echt saftige, männliche Portion. Unverschämt lecker und super freundliches Personal. Auch die Pommes mit Käse waren der Wahnsinn! Jederzeit gerne wieder!

Stephen D.

Yelp
There used to be a popular cheese steak place close to me that closed back in 2020. They had a few other locations, but almost none had in-restaurant dining anymore. Anyway, I was in search of a replacement and stumbled across Olde City. In a funny twist, the new restaurant was in the exact same location as the other restaurant. It turns out the owner of the old restaurant separated from that group and opened a couple new restaurants. The cheesesteaks are absolutely amazing and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I will continue to schlep my way downtown until they open an UES location. I definitely recommend it if you're jonesing for a cheese steak and don't feel like driving to Philly.
google avatar

Spencer A.

Yelp
A reasonably priced restaurant with great food and service is a thing to behold in New York City, and this hole-in-the-wall bar-restaurant fits the bill. It's low key, so it's a great lunch stop. The servings are generous and I was very happy with what I spent during my visit. The atmosphere is lively, with music and plenty of large TVs. They have happy hour M-F from 11-8, which is worth it in my opinion, especially during lunch hour.
