A nice restaurant to enjoy a good meal. The space was nicely decorated, and the service was good. The food was good, the lobster bisque was delicious. The other meals were good.

We found the food here to be delicious! We are very picky eaters so I always nervous to go to a new restaurant because a lot of people can't cook! We ordered the salmon which was cooked perfectly it came with delicious matched potatoes and butternut squash. They brought us out nice hot soft rolls with maple butter to start off. Our server Hannah was lovely and did a great job. Cozy atmosphere. They had great music playing the night that we went. Great experience will be going back.

I happened by on my way home and I was told the post had a good brunch so I thought I would check it out!😝The brunch offered so much I couldn’t possibly eat that much. I settled on the crispy chicken wings(10) for a reasonable $ , I’m so glad I did! They were so delicious and crispy too! The bartender Katie was super helpful,great smile also! Ask her for a recommendation she is willing to give suggestions. Cheers &Enjoy🥳

Early light dinner for 2. App Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms, they were okay. Bread and butter, rolls were sweet and the butter was off in flavor. Lobster Bisque, nothing special. Baked haddock had a lot of paprika, asparagus was cold and flavorless. Nice staff, nice customers. Unlikely to return soon.

The baked Buffalo Mac and cheese came out to be very soupy and gross. Very hot in there so bring a fan. I think the wait staff was new. They gave us a booth that was at a 60 degree angle, but we asked to switch. The regulars love to stare. They had the blue grass band in the dinning room spicing up the mood with there interesting music. Would recommend going to the place next on your list.

I was not impressed with this place. The service was good, but that was about it. I got the Chicken Parm. The sauce was overcooked, heavy, very salty, and also had some sort of sweet flavor to it - maybe barbecue? Whatever it was, it wasn't for me. The pasta was okay, but it didn't mix well with the sauce so there was a lot of plain pasta to be had. The chicken was the best part, and did a good job of masking the shortcomings of the sauce. The atmosphere was okay, and was definitely improved by the live music act that could be heard from the tavern side.

We were invited to a cookout and end up getting the wrong day. So we stopped in here and the food is unbelievable very friendly staff and amazing drinks. Northeast surfing strongly recommends.

Good food & great atmosphere at the bar. The wait staff were unfriendly, not knowledgeable about the food/menu, and served us the wrong food without comping it after we notified them.

Food was great service was awsum and the music was very entertaining we got there when the opened and stayed till closing

This was the first time we've been here. Our server was Janet who did a good job. I had a question about the chicken tzatziki (Greek yogurt sauce) .. and she brought me a sample of the tzatziki to be sure I would enjoy my meal which was very thoughtful and smart. Well I did not like it so I ordered the chicken bruschetta and he had the fried trip of scallops, fish , and shrimp platter. Both meals were just ok. The first and always a big problem when it happens is the food DID NOT arrive hot. I usually ask that my food comes to us HOT but I totally forgot. Both dishes were just ok not great. If they were nice and hot we certainly would have enjoyed them more. It was a long ride for us so we won't be going back. Btw I did mention to the server that the food was not hot and she said she would mention it to the kitchen. It wasn't really that busy so I'm not sure why it happened as they have 2 food runners. ‍‍

First time coming back in 25 years. I ordered the reuben. I don't know what happened but I had heartburn and upset stomach the whole next day. The servers were nice so perhaps I'll come back and try something different another time

I don't know what happened here. We used to love this place. Last night "not so much "! Steak tips, we're good but 1/2 the portion and same with mashed potatoes. Then order a "dinner special" not happening, swordfish, shrimp and salmon "scampi " - tasted like lemon and salt. Not to mention the swordfish way way overcooked Felt bad to complain after discussing the steak. Powered through it and paid the price later.

The Hitching Post opened early to accommodate the 30+ ladies from my golf league for our end-of-season banquet. They had us set up in a sunny back room and I thoroughly enjoyed my Famous Turkey Dinner! Others ordered BLT salads and sandwiches and such, but I went big with turkey, taters, stuffing and butternut squash at midday. Although there was only one server, she did a yeoman's job! We did have to wait a bit at the end, but that's because they gave everyone a separate bill! Unexpected, but you know how older ladies can be! ;) Great food, great service!

The stuffed mushrooms were fantastic and the wings were great. Come and see lily and have a good time!

WOOF. Family had a reservation for Easter and let me tell you, this was probably the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time. Our reservation was at 12. We sat down and after about 15 minutes the waitress came over and left a carafe of water which filled 4 1/2 out of our 6 small glasses. After another 15 minutes or so our drinks came out. We put our food in, which we got at about 12:55. So to summarize, about 55 minutes for food. No communication from our waitress, no apologies for the wait, no refreshed drinks, nothing. I got an elderflower wine cooler type drink which was pretty tasty, but had a whole quarter of a lemon in it. Shortly after the food comes out, the waitress walks up with dinner rolls. She said they were short on rolls (??) and that she was glad the food came out "so fast"! (????) I ordered the apricot chicken (as pictured below) which was truly inedible. I'm not joking. The veggies were not seasoned. The mashed potatoes were grey. The apricot chicken was two breaded chicken tenders with a red sauce on them. The breading color varied from a bright yellow to a brown on the bottom. You can see where I tried to cut through it - it was purely inedible. As someone who really isn't typically too picky - I put it to the side and didn't touch it. The waitress came by and began scooping up glasses, explaining that they were running out. After dinner, the fam wanted dessert. Two of them asked for the Baileys cheesecake. She stopped taking our order and went out back because she said there were only two pieces left. She came back with one piece and they fought over it (kidding - but how are you already out of dessert at 1pm on Easter)...? She took the rest of our order. I got the flourless chocolate torte which was rather unexciting - another in our party got the clearly recently defrosted tiramisu. Overall, the set up was fine. The atmosphere gave more "country kitchen" vibes then I remembered, I think it was redone. In regards to the service, when clearing the table the waitress took my full plate of barely touched food and didn't say a thing. Didn't offer anything else, didn't ask if there was an issue with it, just took it away without concern. I'm not usually one to write a negative review for a small business, but the experience was just so terrible. Before tip, the bill came to about $280 for six people for six barely edible meals, one cocktail, five sodas, and five desserts. Outrageous. Save your money. I wouldn't book a holiday here, I wouldn't book an event here, I wouldn't have lunch here.

I have lived in Hanson for 30 years and I have been coming to the hitching post on and off over the years. A new owner took over the place about 2 years ago. I have experienced the food not being good for about the last year. But it's close and convenient so I try to buy local. Tonight my wife and I came back. I have to say the food was amazing. I guess I can't quit on a small business. I hope they can keep up the good work. I know owning a restaurant is a hard job. On another note the people who own The hitching post have a deli in pembroke that is always good. Fork in the road.

Had lunch here on a Saturday. Seated quickly. Friendly service. Restaurant a little tired inside but seemed to add to the charm. I had a salad w walnuts cranberries sliced pear and apples blue cheese mixed greens, vinaigrette and grilled shrimp. There were only 4 medium size shrimp, expected more for the price however it was a great tasting salad. Husband had a burger he said was ok , a bit undercooked. Would definitely go back and try again different entrees.

Ambiance was excellent for a Saturday evening with live music that was spot on and friendly service, super personable and helped me choose my entree that was delectable. I had the fried trio and my guy had the chicken Marsala that he said he never had served with potatoes before but it worked. My recommendation from our server was great and definitely didn't miss the prime rib. Cocktail was also amazing, perfectly balanced and they have Blue Moon on tap. Definitely will be back. Though they have the live band, they are super respectful of the dining experience offering seating as close or as quietly intimate as the guest prefers.

This place is very good sat down right away very pleasent inside and cozy was not to busy for a sat nite I'd definitely go back again.

Great Mother's Day at Olde hitching. We were very lucky where we showed up without reservations. The restaurant was closing early for a private party but still took us in last minute. Despite the circumstance they served us with smiling faces and the utmost kindness. Our server was so sweet and didn't make us feel like we were keeping her there later than expected. The food was great. I split the salmon entree with my daughter it was cooked perfectly and very very good !

I've been going to the Hitching Post on and off for most of my life. I went last night with my mother the food was delicious. We started with the crab cakes, we ate them both so quick I couldn't get a picture but they were DELICIOUS! A great amount of crab and the aioli with them were perfect. Mom got the chicken saltimbocca and was able to sub gluten free pasta. It was very good and I couldn't help but steal a few bites. I had the Turkey Tetrazinni special and it was delicious. I had more than enough for dinner there and lunch the next day. I would suggest slightly less butter in the sauce, but would absolutely order it again. You have to get the crab cakes when you go!

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This restaurant is the definition of top tier service and food. Me and a friend were desperately searching for a patio to sit on and drink/enjoy a nice meal. After going to a couple local spots to find their patios were closed, I decided to call the Olde Hitching post (I had never been prior!) the woman on the phone explained to us that they were getting new patio furniture but would go to storage and get one of the old tables and chairs so we could sit on the patio! This was so above and beyond + the food was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! Highly recommend the Olde Hitching Post, and thank you to the awesome staff again for setting us up on the patio!!!!!

Pork Chop - cooked like Shake and Bake. Staff were nice. The restaurant looks tired. The food was eh!

We dined here on October 21st as part of a group of about 22. The service and the food were top notch. Everyone had a huge variety of dinners and desserts and not one complaint from anyone. We were very impressed and will definitely be back. We had the Mediterranean Salmon and the whole belly fried clams. The tiramisu we shared was yummy!

Gourmet style food served in an upscale tavern like atmosphere. Servers and bartenders are pleasant and on top of everything.

Ambiance and service were exceptional. Great, quality dishes which were reasonably priced.

First time posting and reviewing a restaurant, but I just feel the need to. My wife and I very much enjoy the food and the atmosphere at The Hitching post. we go at least 3 times a month .. the only turn-off is the blonde bartender, she is rude and has no personality. Whatsoever you can tell, she hates her Job unfortunately she takes away from a good experience!!!! Hopefully, the new owner will identify this and correct it. Honestly, she takes a 10 and brings it to a 5

New Ownership does not make you feel welcome the food is just average at a High price be careful the menu price doesn't always reflect the bill amount. Staff seemed overwhelmed and not as considerate as I would expect. I have been a longtime customer of the restaurant always a good experience under old ownership will not be returning.

I discovered the Olde Hitching Post after seeing it on an episode from Gordon Ramsey's, "Kitchen Nightmares." This is by far one of the best restaurants I have been to in Massachusetts! The service is great. The staff is very friendly, kind, attentive and truly one of a kind. The food has by far exceeding my expectations. The best comfort food you will find in all of Plymouth county. I was very impressed and so happy that I visited this restaurant. I will definitely be coming back!!

Went for dinner with my mother and aunt for a local dinner it was very good. We walked in and the two host were very friendly, waitress was nice, drinks were good food was very good !! Will def be back !

Had a terrible dinner from here tonight. The new management might want to get new cooks? I had the butternut squash ravioli and I had two bites. It was so icky sweet! We ordered takeout and I ended up being sent home without the dessert. They credited me without issue but never even apologized. Crap food and customer service. Been coming here for years but not again. Waste of $50

After getting takeout here on a whim, we decided to go back and celebrate our son graduating high school. The hostess was very nice, she sat us right away. The food was tasteful and we all enjoyed our meals. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because we were sat at a table right outside the kitchen door and could hear employees arguing. We were literally the only party there right when they opened so we could have been sat elsewhere. I had meatloaf, my husband and the kids all had sandwiches and fries. I will definitely get takeout again. The macaroni and cheese with pulled pork or brisket was so good.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner this evening. Have never been in before but boy, was I missing out. The food was fantastic. The bartender/ server Amy was great and Dan from the kitchen stopped by to see how we were doing! Can't wait to come back and try something else scrumptious!

Old Hitching Post Tucked away in the little town of Hanson, this family owned restaurant has been serving up casual fare since the 60's when it started as a roadside food stop according to a photo inside the front door. This is straight out good food, we usually sit in the Tavern section mostly because we enjoy the casual atmosphere. The main dining room has both comfortable booths as well as the ability to accommodate large groups at tables. We met friends at OHP on a weekday night and were pleasantly surprised to see a steady stream of diners. In fact there was barely a seat at the large bar. Our server/Bartender was very friendly, we started with some wine, beer and the house sangria. The beer list has 7 or 8 selections with everything from Hazy little thing from Sierra Nevada to Guinness Stout, Hazy little thing it was for me! Herb Crusted Haddock ---BORING. actually No!! If you like fish as I do, this was spectacular!! The Herb crusting played second fiddle to the perfectly cooked large portion of flaky Haddock. The special came with two sides, if I was dining with the guys, I'd have got the fries and the fries, but opted for Rice and butternut squash, honestly both were very good. I ate all the rice, my better half ate all the squash! Others in our party had the BLT salad and as a Bacon affectionato she was very happy with her choice, due to the size of the salad, most went home with her! Diner 2 had the Mediterranean salad with salmon which was an authentic salad with real Kalamata olives ( this is key!) and feta perfectly dressed, that plate went back empty!! They really did a great job here, this could easily be our "Goto" restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the service and food were excellent! It's worth the trip off the beaten path to check out OHP, it's unpretentious, comfortable, friendly and delicious. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but the salad looked like salad and the Fish looked like fish! I didn't want to be the guy with his phone out taking pictures!

This has been my favorite restaurant ever since moving to Hanson. I don't think I've had a dish that I didn't like yet and the owner is always so very sweet. My favorite lunch and dinner option is the honey Buffalo tenders or the pilgrim Pride sandwich. I also suggest their breakfast options, especially the French toast. The only reason this place is not getting five stars for me is because of one particular waitress we've consistently had issues with every time we've gone while she's there. She has a habit of taking your order, bringing your food and then giving you your bill without ever checking to see if anything is wrong, if you need a refill or anything else. I have complained about this in the past, unfortunately she hasn't changed her bad habits. We simply try to go when she isn't there now. Anyway, if you're looking for great food, a great atmosphere an mostly good service I highly suggest this restaurant.

Nice atmosphere. Great steak tips and good selections. Heard it's the same owner as Fork in the Road (love their sandwiches) and Somewhere Else Tavern.

Hanson doesn't have much to offer, but this place still isn't good. My family has been twice, and all our meals were boring and average. It's not terrible food, but it's like some random guy makes the food instead of a chef. Probably skip this place and go somewhere else.

I really do not understand why old ratings on a restaurant can not be outdated. It doesn't seem fair to the business. It's obvious that most of the reviews I am seeing rate this place highly and I plan on going this week. Hopefully I won't forget to post pictures.

Had a wonderful baby shower at the Olde Hitching Post. Highly recommend this restaurant. The service and food was amazing.

My husband and I have enjoyed many meals here. They have a lovely dining room and if you are looking for something a little more casual they also have a tavern area. For those who want to dine outside,they also have a deck and patio area. The staff are friendly without being overbearing. Their menu is diverse with options sure to please nearly every palate and they have daily specials featuring many seasonal and chef specialties. Tonight we ordered food to go. My husband had the chicken Marsala over mashed potatoes and I had the Aegean scallops on a bed of roasted potatoes, sautéed spinach and cherry tomatoes. Both dishes were sublime.

The food and service were outstanding. The meat was tender and juicy and seasoned well. The service was super friendly and we wished for nothing. Definitely make a reservation.

Came here for dinner because my friend had a gift certificate, So glad she did because everything was great! Our server was really nice, and helpful- everything we had was super tasty. I had the carbonara and my friend had the gnocchi. We were both raving about our meals! Most definitely coming back, and this place deserves more credit and way more starts!!

I love the live music! Old country feel, big portions, sorry, enjoyed eating, and forgot to take pics. Wait staff was great. Yes I will go again!

This has the BEST COMFORT FOOD on the entire South Shore. My Fave is the Grilled Maple Meatloaf which is so fantastic that I never try anything else! (Once I had a DELISH TURKEY Dinner with all the Trimmings - as fantastic) My review is from my Husband and me since he always switches it up. They have EVERYTHING. Meat, Chicken, Pasta, Seafood, Burgers and Vegetarian Meals. I don't cook Fish so he gets his fill from here. They serve Rolls with Cinnamon Butter ! We mostly do Take Out on a Friday or Saturday Night when no one feels like cooking. Our meal is packed very well that it's still HOT when we get home. You will never be disappointed!!

Much more enjoyable experience with the outside dinning. The food was really well prepared. My son loved the chicken parm. Honey buff wings and potato skins were great too. It is 100% better than my experience from years ago. I am really glad to see it.

Went tonight with a neighbor. 2 good meals, reasonable prices. So nice to sit in a restaurant with white tablecloths & NO TVs in the dining room. We will be back!

As the son of a greek immigrant I can not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. The owner is a poor excuse for the American dream. My family loves to support local businesses and it would be an added bonus to be able to be proud of a fellow countryman. Unfortunately this guy just cares about money. Food was spare to fare. No good and not bad. Very disappointed in the experience all together.

This now my wife's and I favorite spot. Great food and service, everything we have ordered has been more delicious then we expected. I would strongly recommend trying this restaurant.

How ignorant does a person have to be to give a wonderful comfort food experience one star because, "where is that piano player we like"? Seriously! This restaurant is so good that I make sure to stop there whenever I travel here. As a frequent flyer, finding a gem like this where I can get a taste of home cooking with gourmet flare is really appreciated. The staff is always friendly and I have to say I always feel welcome and important. If you want great food, friendly attention time service and a relaxed atmosphere, without a loud piano concert this is your place. I have confidence you will enjoy the experience as much as I do. This is also a great place for a breakfast meeting.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. I don't know what happened - I suspect another owner - but everything we loved about it is gone. The menu, although we were there for lunch, was definitely dinner prices. The menu was one laminated page of items we could get at any chain restaurant. As a matter of fact, chain restaurants have better menus. In previous years, the menu was many pages long, filled with unique dishes and seasonal delights. The waitress confessed that the cook was not ready for lunch customers - rolls were just being baked. The Sunday Brunch Buffet we loved is no longer there. The food was good, but the portions were HUGE - enough food for 4 people. I would have preferred smaller portions AND smaller prices for lunch. But the worst thing about the restaurant is the ugly decor! Evidently they just remodeled. The colors are drab gray, drab brown, drab green and white. We were seated at tables that would be boring at a diner. The walls are white painted barn board. No curtains, no color, and the ugliest "seaside" painting I've ever seen. The old Hitching Post was homey, filled with color, flowers, patterns, tablecloths and unique decor items. The place now looks ugly and sterile - I've seen better looking hospital cafeterias. Save your money and go to the 99 Restaurant - it will be much more fun.

Me and my boyfriend were looking for Damian's and stumbled upon this hidden gem. The first night we sat at the bar and ordered Moscow mules and they were so delish. We split the two fillets over Parmesan rissoto with a red glaze with mushrooms and asparagus. It was so yummy I woke up in the middle of the night to eat the left overs. We went back a week later on a Friday and were seated right away and our waitress was so friendly and understanding I wasn't eating carbs and joked about dessert just in case. We were in and out so quick our car was still warm. We live it here and I thought for a min to even post this because I'm afraid of more people finding out how good it is we won't have as much luck getting in and out next time. We will forever be regulars :)

Excellent food and service! Prices are reasonable and competitive for the area. The tavern side of the restaurant has live music and offers booth, hi-top, and bar seating options.

My husband and I had dinner early on new years eve. The service from our waitress from Linda was excellent as was our dinner. We haven't been here for awhile but the service and food has always been excellent. Thank you Linda for setting the tone for 2020. We'll be back.

We could not get enough with all their delicious comfort food. Everything was so good. The staff is great and it's a really nice atmosphere.

We are long time customers of olde Hitching Post. Will never return again. Looking at most of the guest that come to the restaurant is older people.the problem is the menus . The price that is printed is not the correct price. We were not told that it is incorrect. My husband questioned the hostess who said it is printed prices are subject to change. Who would know to look for that? I am concerned about elderly people on a fixed income , who would not know that the prices are not correct.when I called to speak to the manager she seemed not to be surprised. After many attempts to get my message across she put me in contact with the owner Lorie. Well she cut me off right away making an excuse that prices are changing on them all the time. I stated that I believe that if you have it printed a price you must honor it. She told me that she will talk to her staff to change this cause she can't deal with these phone calls anymore. I guess I am not the 1st to call on this issue. She then hung up on me. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

My wife and I wanted a simple meal out. Nothing fancy. Just some good food we didn't have to cook. As we hadn't eaten at the Olde Hitching Post yet, we checked the reviews and the menu. It looked to fit what we were after. But for the first time in my life, we got up after the first bite of the main course and left. Here's why: We arrived around 7.45pm on a Friday night. The restaurant parking lot was crowded - always a good sign. Inside there were plenty of people at tables but it was by no means full (not surprising as we were eating late). We were seated next to a corridor to the bar where there was live music playing ... Competing with the piped music in the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly enough. We were left two menus on the table with no explanation. One menu looked to be printed up for dinner and was nicely presented. The other, a plastic laminated large format smorgasbord of dishes, appeared to be a more generic bar menu. We decided to order off the dinner menu figuring the food from this menu was more likely fresh. I'd settled on the Prime Rib and my wife would have the Baked Haddock With Shrimp Newburgh sauce. When the waitress returned, my wife ordered the Haddock and I the Prime Rib. The waitress told us then that there was no Prime Rib and apologized for not telling us sooner. I settled on the same as my wife and ordered the Haddock. To start we would have the stuffed mushroom appetizer. The bread roll (2) were warm and fresh. Delicious. Although I had to ask for silverware to eat them with the honey butter. The mushrooms came out in due course. They were floating in a sea of what looked like butter and broth. The mushroom stuffing was soft mushy breadcrumb with zero flavor. Frankly I spat mine out it was so bad. The waitress came by and asked how the mushrooms were. "Terrible" was our joint response. At first she thought we were joking ... "Yes, lots of people like them ... " she began before realizing we were being serious. We sent them back and waited hungrily for the main course. The Haddock arrived. My wife asked me if there was another Haddock on the other menu. Apparently this is what we had been served.. When the waitress was walking by we stopped her to ask if we had the Haddock we ordered. "oh, you wanted the special?". "We were looking at that menu, why would you assume we wanted something off the other menu?" I asked. I suggested that perhaps it was her responsibility to inquire of us which Haddock we would like if there was more than one available. She responded, "I didn't know I was supposed to interpret your pointing!" And walked away. Aghast, (after all this isn't Dicks Last Resort), I took a taste of the Haddock. It was tasteless and watery ... Most likely frozen. My wife felt the same. We got up and got our coats. On the way out I pulled the manager aside to explain why we were leaving. The manager was very apologetic and understanding. She offered to make it up in some way. We declined ... We'd had enough. We ended up with fast food. If you like bland, overcooked food you might like it here. If you like fresh food that has flavor, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

Last night my husband and I dined at The Olde Hitching Post for the first time in a while. Our server Carla was very attentive and personable. I have known Carla for over 20 years and she is one of the best! Very knowledgeable with the menu and made great recommendations! We started with the Mediterranean Salad. Delicious! Very fresh ingredients... perfectly tossed in the house dressing. My husband had the twin filets which were perfectly cooked. I had the Scallops Aegean. Delicious! Great selection of desserts delivered daily by Montilios. The entertainment, Jay Psaros was wonderful! He sounded just like James Taylor! Andrea, Spiro and staff are very warm and inviting. Great local spot. We will definitely be back!
