I just got done playing this course, as we walked in everything was great. Staff were nice. Got our carts and everything was good so far. Got to the first tee box a little disappointed but it was no big deal. Very patchy etc. Got to putting on the green and it was all downhill from there. These greens were pathetic. I’ve seen some other reviews saying the same thing and the “owners” excuse was that a hurricane had just come through. The weather had been great for months and this course looks horrendous. The owner said you shouldn’t throw stones without fact checking but that is the dumbest statement I’ve ever heard. This course is pathetic and the website reviews were payed for. Not bashing anyone just giving constructive criticism (yes I am). I would not play at this course no matter what circumstance.

Played golf here on our recent trip to Topsail Island. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and everyone was kind and courteous. I really enjoyed the golf course! Some really great holes and found it in a lot better shape than some of the recent reviews. Stopped into the bar for a post round beer… bartender and patrons were fantastic. Give this place a shot when visiting the Island. I’ll definitely be revisiting again next year.

A lot of rain this spring in first weeks of Summer have the course fairways and greens in pretty good condition. There are some spots on greens that seem to be impacted with either a bug or just burned out. The layout of the course is good with two par 5s and two par 3s on each side. There are some tight holes and be careful with the country club layout because you might catch a house with an errant shot. The amenities are dated and you can tell when this place was knew it was upscale. The sand traps we're in very bad shape and not playable. I would play it again with $40 for 18 holes. But not much more than that.

Pros: The restaurant and bar were very impressive. The food was reasonably priced, high quality, and was a great serving size for the price. Pro-shop staff was friendly and courteous. Helped to explain the course and what to expect. The locations of the driving range and cart pickup were conveniently located. Cons: The course was in desperate need of attention. The tee boxes were overgrown to the point that sometimes it was hard to even see the markers. (Pictures attached). The greens were also in rough shape some had complete bald spots that were almost completely mud. Both issues in my opinion were not just do to rain or weather as it had been great weather but appeared more from neglect. Also, the drainage was not very good as there were some puddles on the fairway deep enough to lose a ball and had clearly been there for a while, and absolutely not intended water hazards. while some fairways had the grass-maintained others had grass high enough that it was easy to lose a ball in the fairway. To the point that I found 9 random balls that were in the grass just off the fairway (2-4 inches) just on the front nine. Conclusion: For the price it was fair, I did not feel like I had overpaid. However, had I not gotten a discounted price, I would have been more disappointed. I would return for the food, but not for the course. I feel this is a fair review, and would not recommend it.

Google
Played today, Fairways and greens were in good shape. Course layout was a pleasure to see and play. Staff was very helpful making sure getting started as this was my first visit (but not my last). There was no problem or charge for my wife who does not play to ride along. All in all a pleasant experience.

I want to give 5 stars. The staff is friendly, and the course is beautiful, however, for the price, I expect the golf carts to work. They have this special screen to show you the course, BUT, it will decide randomly that you are in a "restricted zone" and beep for you to get back onto the course. The only problem with this is, IT WILL HAPPEN WHILE ON THE CART PATH. And it will block the gas pedal from working, so you have to push the golf cart until it decides to let you use it again. It's 95°+ today, far too hot to be pushing this golf cart. I also thought maybe it was just our cart being glitchy, but I've now seen it happen to multiple other golfers. I really hope they fix this or tear this computerized catastrophe out of here. My only other complaint is the fact you have to cross a very busy road multiple times throughout the course. It just isn't safe. I know that that can't really be helped, but it's something to consider especially during busy days.

Google
Used to love this course but it’s in such bad shape I’ll never be back. 1. The golf carts are going to get someone killed. They stall every time you hit the gas and you have to cross the road multiple times. Had to switch carts after 10. 2. Tee boxes were a cow pastures. 3. The greens look like the fairways. Sand and divots everywhere. 4. The fairways are rock solid and they’re mostly sand. 5. I’ve attached a photo of how the owner responds to frustrated customers. He’s a prick. I love supporting local businesses but after seeing the way he deals with customers, I hope someone else buys this place. Figure it out guy. Stop making excuses everywhere is better. Even ironclad is better now

Google
Played today. Very nice employee's. Carts are new, course is a little rough but it appears they are working hard to get it back in shape. It has been extremely dry in this area and that does not help the cause. My biggest issue is no course ranger. We got caught behind a group who clearly had no clue of golf course etiquette. Each player was hitting 2 or 3 balls of every tee. Just plain screwing around the whole time!

Yelp
Worst course in the area. Not a review guy but this course warrants a horrible one. Course conditions are terrible and the owner and staff are even worse. I imagine they never learned to take accountability for their course but they love blaming their customers. Will not be returning. On the bright side this course is in great shape for foot golf or cows to graze.

Yelp
Love this course, love their staff. They're always accommodating. Best course in Hampstead if you ask me.

Yelp
I live in Olde Point. My property borders the golf course. When I purchased my house two years ago, I envisioned a welcoming environment that fostered community with evening walks on the golf paths while gazing at sunsets and making friends at the restaurant while eating and sipping wine. I found the complete opposite with this club. The golf path is off limits to homeowners and should anyone get near it, they respond with ugly comments. The restaurant did not require masks all through the pandemic. Customers got sick and they're sure it was from eating there. There are too many more examples to mention here but the bottom line is - Olde Point Country Club management has the opportunity to develop goodwill and an inclusive, friendly environment. Instead, they are rude and hateful.

Yelp
Really enjoy this course layout. Excellent food in the restaurant. Generally in good shape all yesr long.

Kody H.

Yelp
One of the better layouts I have seen but the greens were so terribly bumpy and slow it kinda ruined the whole experience. The coolest part is all the Jordan Spieth memorabilia in the pro shop as his grandpa lives nearby.

Yelp
My daughter and 2 of her friends were having an end of school celebration and decided to go to the olde point pool. The rope in the pool came untied from the hook. A simple fix. The pool attendant and manager took it upon themselves as grown men to intimidate the girls to the point of tears telling them that they broke the rope and its a $250 rope. Now first the rope was not broken. Second the rope is $8 at the tractor supply down the road. Third after bringing this to the attention of the owner she promptly ignored my inquiry and told me if i am unhappy i can call the pool house and they would be glad to revoke my membership. How about you dont use lies and intimidation to scare children. Following the pool rope incident another child had an accident in the pool. Its a kid. Accidents happen. The owner thought it appropriate to blast the parent as neglectful in a very public manner. When informed how inappropriate the message sent was. The owner marzana zalik simply blamed the parents even more as if implying that a parent should be in control of their childs emergency bowel movements. The new owner is extremely unprofessional. Go anywhere other than here.

Yelp
$19 gets you 9 holes with a bonus! 14 years and under are free! Excellent course to have your children take up a fun past time. Pros: $19 comes with the golf cart and on board ball and club cleaner. Standard gas cart with sand and drink holders. Course is PGA style challenges. They could use some more grooming around the water hazards and greens. (Some greens with bar patches on the back 9 could use some new sod). This course has a driving range angles toward hole 18 (so aim right). $6 for a large bag of balls 120-160 count. Not bad and ball quality is good. Cons: The fairways, hazards and greens could use a greens keeper. Sand buckets would be nice with fertilizer to help this. Dress code signage out front is enforced (not strict but clearly stated) Missing the go cart kids to deliver drinks to players Homes are against the course so new players should check down before attempting the go ahead shots. Over all for the price and quality I will award the 5 star for the polite staff and well managed course. The play condition was of good order as the above is honestly picky when comparing to memorial tournament, US open etc. golf course of choice for me.

Yelp
Fairways were in good shape however the tee boxes and greens are in need of some TLC. One hole the flag stick was in the middle of the fairway with the grass cut extremely short. Hard to get a true roll on the greens because of the dryness and the amount of sand on each green. Tee boxes was in better shape than the greens however still not good. The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Yelp
Wonderful getaway from the beach for a day! Friendly staff. Everyone was welcoming. Jimmie was awesome putting ice on the beverages. ;) Good course. Went during the week, so it wasn't too busy. Folks in front of us and behind us, but everyone kept a good pace. Would visit again.

J Marty F.

Yelp
Wow, where do I start! I haven't played this course for about 4 years, and now I remember why. The cost for my wife and I for 18 holes was $92.00 because we have a child and needed 2 carts. The greens are so full of holes that putting you might as well just take 2 putts and move on. Over half the course is cart path only due to poor drainage. These folks get no stars! You can have a better round of golf at "Old Fort golf course" for $22.00 a person and it includes the cart fee. I feel sorry for everyone that is paying such a ridiculous fee for a course that should be closed for a couple months so they can fix it.

Yelp
Stopped in tonight for apps. and martinis. Best martini I've had in 2 years. Apps. were delicious. Will be back for dinner very soon.

Yelp
We've been making our rounds through the courses here in the Wilmington and surrounding areas to see what all is out there and this is definitely the bottom of the list for me. The course is actually really nice and in decent shape, but the staff is as rude as can be. Started from the beginning with the guy in the pro shop and then the other gentleman. They didn't have range balls available to warm up with. Apparently my group missed the sign that says carts are due in at 6:45 so the gentleman closing up shop came to get us. We understand we were in the wrong by being late, but his delivery was so rude. I'm not sure if it's because we were young or what but I do not appreciate it at all. My money is just as valuable as someone 20 years older. I did speak with the gentleman who was the rudest and he didn't seem to think his delivery was wrong or anything. I explained to him my position and that this experience is the reason they've lost 4 customers. At the end of the day my experience probably varied from everyone else's, but if you're not tied to olde point, I highly suggest you give one of the other local courses an attempt.

Yelp
Great experience at this course. I thought the conditions were very good from tee to green. Greens were in great shape, but very slow. The staff was wonderful in the pro shop, and in the bar!

Brain B.

Yelp
Arrived Monday March 26, went to club house to ask when the best times to bring my kids (13 and 14 yrs old) to driving range the gentleman said best is early or late after noon. I totally agreed. Went to driving range Monday- Wednesday not a problem kids had a blast. Thursday weather got nicer took kids and lady working front desk at 4:30, very rude said kids need collared shirts on for the driving range. I couldn't believe her answer people golf here in camo shorts and cut off tshirts. I told her we were her Monday but I guess when 55 degrees out doesn't matter. Just be consistent with your rules, what a joke. Won't be back at all, the lady doesn't need to work behind a desk needs to learn how to talk to people. Stay consistent NO MATTER WHAT THE TEMPERATURE IS OUTSIDE. I would call ahead and make sure she is off before you play here, plus they need to turn on the sprinkler system!

Yelp
The golf course was taken care of about as well as michael jacksons baby while it was hanging out of a window. It got marginally better on the back 9. The beer prices weren't outrageous but there were signs everywhere saying the restaurant was open 10-4 but it was a ghost town inside at 1:30 in the afternoon in the middle of the summer. I was looking forward to some grub after the round only to be denied. Seems to be run by a bunch of old people who could care less about the course or anything else for that matter. The "pro shop" had about 4 items in it. Don't waste your time.

Yelp
This was my second, and last visit to this course. I come to the area every year with five families, and the five men play twice in the week. We were chased down and chewed out by three different employees when we drove a cart in an unclearly marked area. (They said no carts on the par 3 fairways. It's not like we were tearing up the green or some dumb thing ).All three were very uncool with us, and very annoyed, and verbally unwelcoming. I'm not talking about a casual reminder...Kind of ruined our time. We had just spent a collective $250. The course was nice, and well kept, and well designed.

Yelp
I had a very good experience with this course. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the course was in really good shape for such a wet week. My tee time was at 11, but I got started a little earlier than that. The greens were fast, the sand was well groomed, and fairways were good, except for a few very wet locations (which was totally expected, given that we've gotten a ton of rain the last few days). I'll return.

Cory C.

Yelp
Course is decent shape, people were friendly, beer was cold but my game was horrible. That is not the courses fault!

David S.

Yelp
To Start 5 star would be an amazing course, 4 star would be a really good course. I would rate this course a 3.5 at this point. Staff was extremely friendly. Price was ok at $45 for a weekday. We hit a few balls to warm up at the range. The range wasn't big but that was ok because it wasn't busy first thing in the morning. You hit on real grass. The course was somewhat challenging in places but I manage to hit my normal average of 95. I only golf a hand full of times a year so I found this course to be a good outing. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. The greens were only in rough shape on a few holes but they placed the pin away from these bad spots. For the most part they were in good shape. Play was a good pace. Finished in just over 4 hours. Afterwards we grabbed a bite to eat at the Restaurant. Food was great, service was great and food was reasonably priced. $25 total for a burger, a sandwich, one beer and an iced tea. I recommend the Jerk Turkey Sandwich. All in all I don't ask for much when I play and this was good enough for me. The club house might be a little old but that is just cosmetic. It was a good course and friendly staff. It was a good place to play on vacation.

Brenda F.

Yelp
I was really surprised at how clean and well maintained this course was! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and let me ride along with my husband (even though I don't play golf). My husband had recently come off of a round of chemo and I didn't want him to go alone. I was surprised with all the rain we've had that the course was in such great shape.

Douglas M.

Yelp
I've played this course multiple times over the last 12 months. The course has improved much over this time period. The restaurant is closed temporarily over the winter. Once the restaurant and bar reopen I would recommend this course as one of the best public courses in the area.

Jh D.

Yelp
The middle of Winter and STILL playing golf Olde Point CC in Hampstead, N.C.

Jgm M.

Yelp
100% better than a year ago when we last played! Friendly staff, great price and no marshalls running around policing the golfer's. Fun, clean, golf course! Greens are in great shape and running fast. It is well worth the price.

Ken K.

Yelp
played here 3 years ago and loved it. played last saturday wish i would have stayed home. greens were uncut and unkept.very disapointed. i called before we went and asked about the greens, they said they were good. bold face lie
