Best Christmas Sandwiches 2020 | London Restaurant Christmas Sandwiches - Eater London

"For a Christmas sandwich with subtle Scandi accent look no further than the ‘Jule Feast’ turkey stuffing melt toastie from Ole & Steen. Available at all of the Danish bakery’s London outposts, this sandwich is equal parts huge and hygge. Served in fresh focaccia and toasted till crisp and golden, each sandwich is filled with a Christmas dinner’s worth of roasted turkey, pork and apple stuffing, sweet cranberry sauce, tarragon mayo, Cheddar cheese, and spinach. The vegan version subs out the meats and cheese for plant-based alternatives and roasted squash." - Lucas Oakeley

This cafe is on the main road of Kensington high street just opposite the tube station . Lovely place to go for a quick breakfast/ brunch as they have nice options of sandwiches , cakes & pastries We really enjoyed our time & sat from 10:30-1:00 🫣Tasty coffee so we had to have one with our breakfast & another with our cakes !!

We popped in here this morning on a Sunday . Everything looked so delicious upon entering and there was a nice clientele base of professionals working , families and individuals. So we decided on the blackberry croissant and the chocolate swirl croissant . It was not only delicious but certainly would be a firm Sunday retreat. The coffee ☕️ was ok not too strong but not to weak I ordered decaf too which was ok . So wish I had the cappuccino on the next visit. Even showed to Keanu as he woke up in NYC this morning saying how delicious it looked . Definitely will pop back. Mrs K Reeves

The service was really friendly and welcoming. Jay made a nice flat white and the milk didn’t have a burnt taste like other coffee shops.

The Vegan Social is one of my favourite pastries! The custard, choco bits, pastry texture - it's just perfect! If the rating was just about the Vegan Social, it would be a 5! Ole & Steen is always crowded and the tables and floors are not clean. So I just don't enjoy eating the pastry in their cafes.

I don't normally leave reviews but today I am making an exception. Came here for lunch today, first time I had been in an Ole & Steen and unfortunately I won't be returning. Paid £8.75 for an "ultimate chicken toastie" and after one bite took it back to the counter as it didn't appear to have chicken in. The lady at the counter said it was "chicken paste" which I definitely wouldn't expect in an ultimate sandwich, no sign of any proper chicken or anything that remotely tasted like chicken. It seemed to be mainly avocado and tomato with one bit of bacon and this weird "paste" spread on the bottom bit. If I wanted chicken paste I could buy chicken paste pots for 60p in a supermarket. Completely overpriced and nothing remotely ultimate about it. The label doesn't mention anything about the chicken being a paste either, which is misleading as I'm sure people wouldn't buy it if it did.

Saturday morning visit. Could find my favourite chocolate balls but the almond croissant and coffee were great to pass the time. Not much seats in the main floor but plenty downstairs.

My fellow A'tin (SB19 fans) had a fun time yesterday whilst celebrating Stell's birthday in Ole & Steen Kensington High Street. The lovely staff Eunice accommodated us really well and offered good service. The drinks we had was refreshing, and the ambience was cozy and chill hence, it added conducive appeal to have a great time being with friends! 💖 P.S. we loved the free sample of cinnamon rolls!

This review isn’t reflective of the staff or actual cafe, which were lovely. The pistachio matcha isn’t pistachio, but amaretto, which was very disappointing.

Yelp
I had to take a break from the hotel breakfast, so I found this smart looking place on the high street. They have baked goods, coffee, and other items. As I understand it, it is part of a chain however the quality must stand out over other chains like Starbucks. More on par with a Le Pain Quotidian. I would return for sure.

Yelp
I never met Ole or Steen, but they make a terrific breakfast roll! This is such a lovely bakery and coffee shop! Our family stopped in for some coffees and baked goods during our trip to London and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is high-quality, great ingredients. Service was solid. The coffee was good (by London standards). I got a breakfast roll (pistachio), that was wonderful. We'll gladly return!

Yelp
This is a favorite when visiting London! The cinnamon social is to die for. The service makes it a quick stop in the morning, or a sit down meal for lunch. The interior is really nice and the warm smell of pastries brings a nice touch.

Yelp
Great selection of baked goods, closeby to exercise classes like Barrys and 1Rebel if you worked hard and deserve a post class treat The coffee is good quality, and for sure better than Starbucks chains closeby. The selection of pastries and baked goods have something for everyone from sweet to savoury

Yelp
Ole and Steen will always be one of my favorite bakeries. I have been in NYC, Denmark, and several locations across London. You have to get the Cinnamon Social. It's delicious! It's like a cinnabon in an eaiser to eat format :) Although there isn't frosting like a Cinnabon, it still ends up tasting just as sweet and lovely. One downside is their app never seems to work for me...

Yelp
I visited Ole & Steen in Kensington High Street, London on Thursday 26th October, 2023. I purchased a Sourdough loaf of bread. This bread had a lot of flavour and it didnt stick to the roof of my mouth like other breads do. I was told there were no chemicals used to make the bread. It was so good I could have eaten the whole loaf! Definitely the best Sourdough bread I have ever tasted. Will certainly be visiting and buying more of this bread.

Yelp
tables were all dirty when we walked in, atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming, food could not be warmed up so we had to eat it cold and soggy, bathrooms were closed. food tasted good but the service was nonexistent and the facilities were underwhelming.

Yelp
Argh, I would love to give more than three stars, and the cinnamon pastries alone deserve a 5+++ (even juicier than my previous faves at Fabrique, who thought such a thing was possible?!). A Danish speciality and these were massive, too, I saved half for Sunday. I've spotted Ole & Steen pop up in several high streets recently, bought some loaves in Richmond before and decided to take a break from a busy Saturday afternoon's shopping at this latest addition to a growing number of bakeries on High Street Kensington. Staff at this end of the counter were super helpful, there are samples of some of the goodies available to taste before you commit, you have the choice to have your loaves sliced. It all takes a while but worth it. I'd ordered and paid my coffee and pastry before the slicing and packing commenced, optimistically presuming that the cappuccino would be ready and waiting by the time everything was sorted ... ... no such luck, I had to join another queue while nervously looking around me for a free table. Ole & Steen is a victim of its own success and should probably invest in some extra staff. All tables upstairs were taken and I ventured downstairs. It smelled, and not of food, so despite some seats on some big shared tables I quickly headed back up, carefully balancing my tray. Ended up on bar stool facing the wall opposite the disabled toilet - not exactly hygge! Summary, great food best enjoyed elsewhere.
