General Election 2019 | Food Guide for Campaigning in Richmond Park | Eater London

"Anyone for a cinnamon swirl? The Richmond outpost of the Scandi bakery chain has it all: lavishly topped open sandwiches, densely squidgy brownies, rye rolls, buns in abundance and whopping panini for toasting. Good coffee, too." - Emma Hughes

Ole & Steen was a little busy when I visited but staff were friendly and helpful. The coffee was good and I enjoyed my pastry, there were lots of treats to choose from. There were tables to sit inside.

The cinnamon social and cinnamon roll are other worldly, but our favorite part was the service. Olivia was a sweetheart and made sure we tried her favorites. Also saw another girl being completely amazing to a woman who was passing by and it was her birthday. The kind of place you’d come back everyday because the food is good, but people are better.

My partner and I visited Ole & Steen for the first time today and it was a really great experience. Everything tasted super fresh — we ordered two sandwiches: the Truffle and the Chicken, and both were absolutely delicious. We sat upstairs by the window, and with the rainy weather outside, the smell of fresh bread and a warm latte in hand, it all felt so cozy and special. Highly recommend this place — great vibes, tasty food, and a lovely atmosphere!

Every time I try to make peace with Ole & Steen in Richmond, I am disappointed. Ultimately it does go down to managers, because if floor staff does not know what is expected of them, why bother? And it’s not acceptable, because their pastries are cold even in winter (have you ever found appealing a BAKED product, cold? Left in the window fridge and from there to your mouth? 😱 And the coffees… well, where to start ? I just had a flat white at a burning temperature (a quick training on how milk becomes unhealthy at very high temperature maybe?) and with no cream in the top. None. A latte, just on a different cup. And the cherry: expensive! Flipping expensive! It made mainly of water! Come on! Ok nit again at least for a loooong while.

Love this place. They have delicious pastries and coffee. Staff are super friendly and kind. There is lots of seating. The ambience is really great and inviting. Tends to get busy but worth the wait. I got the plant based social pastry.

The gooey perfection of the cinnamon swirl alone justifies the journey here, but tacking on a chocolate swirl and cinnamon social results in a tasty meltdown. Bustling lines of customers testify to the famous reputation, who arrive in throngs for cinnamon but also sandwiches, tarts, snd coffee.

I visited Ole & Steen today for the first time and ordered a chai latte and a Danish sausage roll for takeaway. The staff kindly asked if I wanted the bread reheated, and I said yes. I waited for my order and received everything at the same time. I drank my chai latte while heading home—it was amazing! But when I reached home and checked the bag, I was disappointed to find that the sausage roll was overcooked. While I could eat the sausage and about half of the bread, the other half had turned too hard and crusty to enjoy. I regret not checking it before leaving the store. I expected better quality and hope this was just a one-off mistake.

This is my favourite coffee shop in Richmond and my 'happy place to go to'. The staff are amazing. Very professional, super efficient and friendly. The best tea in the area by far as it's always hot. Delicious choose of pastries, sandwiches and salads. A massive credit to Victoria who heads up the team!

Yelp
Good place to have a nice pastry snack and a coffee. Order at counter. They charge more for Take away. Lots of seating inside (upstairs as well). Lovely air conditioning. Raspberry pistachio tart is delicious. Fruit is super fresh. Great photo opportunity, it's so pretty. Maple and pecan social is also very good. Good cinnamon flavor. Nice and soft.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, great selection of pastries, and excellent service. I went here for a late breakfast after a quick trip to the nearby CeX and it was wonderful. The staff members were kind and the service was very quick. I had a hot chocolate with whipped cream which was pretty nice and an absolutely delicious croissant with prosciutto and fig jam. It's a wonderful and convenient place if you're in downtown Guildford, with good prices, great food and a wonderfully cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
I believe this place is quite overrated. The staff doesn't speak English and didn't seem to understand anything I was saying. They don't offer decaf coffee either. The service was quite poor, and customer satisfaction appears to be a foreign concept to them. I went based on a recommendation, but I deeply regret it. I definitely won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Also prices there are so expensive.

Yelp
Enjoyed some good coffee and delicious cakes here this afternoon. The service is counter service and very friendly and the selection of cakes was mouthwatering. There were samples to try and this encouraged us to choose the blueberry cake as well as a slice of chocolate cake from the display in the window. They were both delicious and so we had no food envy (well not much though I was glad I had the chocolate cake!). The coffee was good though my cappuccino could have been hotter and there were some comfy chairs upstairs as well as good tables for laptops. The WiFi was good and there was water freely available. The only reason for not awarding the full 5 stars was the price - I was a little shocked to have to pay £14.50 for two coffees and two small cakes even though they were delicious.
