Yelp
It was a damp cold Saturday evening & we had intended to make our way downtown for a nice dinner at a trendy place we recently visited that had hosted a 'SpeckCuliar' Cocktail Academy Event in the past ....
As the fog grew thicker, clouds overtook the night sky ... And who wants to play the 'where shld we park Downtown' game on a yucky night?
Knowing where to find the answer to 'Where do we Eat now' ... We pulled out our phones & went straight to Yelp!
Saved again!!
Maybe we were just hungry for good Mexican food - the reviews were pretty good & it had been at least 8yrs since we were last here.
The parking area wasn't very crowded & we were seated immediately, in a booth as requested.
The house music was a little too loud, which was causing diners to practically yell at each other across the tables, so the noise was like 15 people trying to dine at a Kid Rock arena concert.
Alas a wonderfully talented, tiny 11yr old gal pranced up to the Karaoke booth & did a great job at capturing most everyone's attention.
We ordered drinks, a large (it's huge!!) Queso Dip & Guacamole. The salsa provided was excellent, tasted fresh and wasn't overdosed w cilantro, like some places.
After we ordered our meal -
Next up was a dude who was indulging himself at the bar to badly - very badly- sing us a -horrible- rendition of his heartfelt emotional song from a recent break up. But hey, dude got up there & DID IT. Hopefully it helped heal the wounds.
That was almost painful.
I ordered a regular top shelf Margarita & the El Macho - I wanted to sample it all! for only $10.49, it's a great deal!!
I got a Taco, Tostada, Chile Relenas, enchilada, & burrito w meat of my choice (beef).
This was So good! For a small diner type Mexican restaurant- this place gets it right!
The Chile Relenas was perfectly stuffed, battered, & fried. The Chile peppers they use are mild enough for almost all but still have enough flavor to know yA are eating a Chile pepper. It was my favorite dish. Everything was really good though.
Hubby ordered his traditional Bud Light, two Chicken Quesadillas & rice w beans - all covered in Queso (just in case the small vat we ordered w our chips wasn't enough for the TWO of us), all of which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Neither of us could finish our entire meal because there was plenty provided w each entrée.
We really enjoyed the food & the place was pretty awesome despite the very loud house music (it did seem the Karaoke was much quieter, so I think they turn it down in case your off key or just bad ...)
My margarita had me feeling very nice & only $1 more than the happy hour price for top shelf! Extra bonus!
Oh no here comes the heartbroken guy from the bar back on stage .... We're outta here!!
Can't wait to get back to that side of town for dinner!!
Enjoy!!
