6/19/25 Update: We went for lunch and they had $2 crunchy tacos! My favorite! I’ve been going to this local Mexican restaurant for decades. The food is good but the atmosphere is better. It’s a great place for birthdays since they sing and put on a sombrero on the birthday boy/ girl. Sometimes they have bands and there are specials every day.

We've been coming to Ole Mexican Restaurant for over 20 years, and it's still one of our absolute favorites. The food is consistently fantastic, the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, and the staff treats you like family. It’s rare to find a place that holds up this well for two decades, but Ole has done it with style and flavor. Their queso is to die for—creamy, rich, and downright addictive. The chips and salsa are always fresh, and the margaritas? Chef’s kiss. Whether you're going for a casual dinner or joining one of their live music nights (which always have the best vibes), you’re guaranteed a great time. From sizzling fajitas to cheesy enchiladas, everything is cooked to perfection with generous portions and fair prices. It’s the kind of place that feels like home the moment you walk in. Highly recommend—5 stars every single time.

Google
Rapid fire review both perception and experience. In this area of Arlington and/or Atlantic Boulevard reaching over to the 🏖️ beaches there are a good amount of Latin American, Mexican type of restaurants including food trucks and trailers parked on various lots. So this review includes my incorrect perception that this is an 'authentic Mexican restaurant.' It is not. It is a discount Americanized restaurant with discount Mexican style foods and drinks that calls itself a Mexican restaurant. So I'm here ordering Nachos with Beef which is standard fare as are items like tacos. The menu is good, prices are fair and I assumed it would be an entree that would meet this description. Service is good though somewhat tight. You'll be listening to people conversations, think whining around you mixed with piped in Mexican music. Nachos were weak chips, undercooked beef and scantly applied onions and peppers. It was just enough. No salsa included but they did add sour cream per request. (Salsa does come with entry chips. I used that). No cheese either. 🧀 Perhaps my expectations were too high. This is a discount restaurant they have a very good special board, happy hour specials and it seemed to me that some of the individuals were frequent flyers and were basically content with what they were getting. 🌮

Used to be great, not anymore. The waiter had a very heavy accent to play the part, I told him that I've had business in Mexico over 20 years and have never had difficulty talking to servers in restaurants. All of a sudden, he flipped a switch and could understand everything that I had to say, odd isn't it? Lol. So, I was very specific with my order and I always order the same thing for years. This time instead of using fresh jalapeños to the dinner they used the pickled and they used the equivalent of probably three. A total waste of time and food. When he carried the dinner out to me, he couldn't breathe from the fumes. Any Cook knows what happens when you cook with high heat using vinegar. When I arrived, I ordered a beer, I couldn't get his attention to order another one until 7:03, I didn't know that until I received the bill. The beer goes from $2.50 each to $4.00 each at 7:00. Any server should be cognizant of the time and try to help their customers. My advice to you; only have the female servers wait on you (they actually speak and understand English perfectly and they don't play the "accent" game). Do not ask for special requests, they can't handle it anymore.

Google
Very good tacos. Chips super duper fresh. Customer service through the roof (the bar tender was pleasant and cute). Every one was nice. I’ve been going to Ole for yearssss and every time has been a good experience. It only gets better.🙌🏾🔥💕

Google
Chips and salsa is so fresh! Food is always on point, made exactly how you request every single time, and the service is fast and friendly. They even have chicken tenders for my picky kid!! Thank you for feeding my family!!!

Google
This was my 1st visit and it was very good ! I had fresh salad with steak and a couple of drinks on special . The steak was still warm, freshly cooked in the salad . My Server did an excellent job serving me . I will definitely be back again.

Morgan M.

Yelp
Strong margaritas and the BEST beef quesadillas in jacksonville! Servers are all very kind and the ambiance reminds me of the classic Mexican spots of my childhood. Very authentic.

Hailey S.

Yelp
1st time here. Margs are SO good and the Nachos are FIREEEE . They have a good specials everyday of the week. The place is very clean including the bathrooms and I love the decorations and ambiance. It's quite and cute. We will def be coming back

Abby B.

Yelp
Hubby and I got to go food from here, it was absolutely delicious, ready in 15 minutes, and very generously portioned. Highly recommend!

Payton R.

Yelp
Absolutely, hands down, the best in Jax! The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We can't wait to come back!

Rebecca N.

Yelp
I guess my review was so long ago, I don't see it anymore. I love this place. I usually come on Wednesday night for the El Pancho menu AYCE FOR $10.99! It starts at 5pm and you have to ask for the special menu. Margarita's-perfect! My favorite is strawberry and mango frozen one. Favorite Waiters: Nadia and Augustine. Bit are good.

Gladys M.

Yelp
Food is great and so is the service. I love going there. They treated us with respect. I will go there soon for sure.

Ebony H.

Yelp
I've tried this restaurant a few times thinking maybe I caught them on a bad day but no. It's not for me. The service is ok and the food is decent if your looking for a cheap meal.

Theresa N.

Yelp
Been coming here for 20+ years. Food is top notch. Service is great and establishment is always clean and in order

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Good food, I guess but they definitely have competition here. We order frequently and I think they are fairly priced. They are in our neighborhood restaurant rotation and will continue to be but I have been disappointed in their chile relenos. No meat but flavor and family likes the tacos but the a quesadillas seem to have too much cheese and there really stingy with their salsa!

Dwayne P.

Yelp
We started eating there when they first open almost 10 years ago and were impressed by the authentic Mexican food. We moved away from Jacksonville for 8 years and just recently just moved home. We started eating at Ole again and I can say they have not missed a beat. they have hands down the best Mexican food in all of Jacksonville. There are a lot of other places that are nicer on the outside and and fancier, but if you are looking for real authentic, fresh, homemade Mexican food, Ole is the the best!!!

Ted L.

Yelp
I was told to try Ole because they have a margarita that "only takes one" to make your evening. Haha. So yeah, I needed to try em out. The presentation was impressive but I will say since there is so much ice in it, I probably would just get the full size glass instead because the grande glass waters down pretty quick. But yeah, the food is alright. Not my first pick but definitely somewhere I will go again. I appreciate that it wasn't very greasy. Prices are decent. I'd like the guac a little chunkier.

Frank M.

Yelp
I cant count how many times I've drove by this restaurant and wanted to stop, but didn't. Well today was different and I decided stop in. First, the entrance to the restaurant is located on the right side of the building, which can be a little confusing, but nothing major. Once I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the waiter and led to my table. As soon as I was seated, I was given chips and salsa that was really good. I originally ordered the "favorite combo" lunch special for $8.99, which included an enchilada, chapula, burrito and a taco. However I don't eat pork and couldn't eat the refried beans on the chapula and burrito. This was totally my fault, as apparently I didn't ask nor fully read the menu before ordering. After noticing my mistake, I ordered more crunchy tacos (See picture) and these definitely weren't your average taco bell tacos. In total, I had 4 tacos and honestly I wanted to order more lol. Lastly, I would also like to mention that they have a buffet on wednesdays for $10.99. They also have specials for every day of the week (see picture).

Chris P.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying OK yes it was Wednesday and yes, the main reason why we went here was all you can eat. We are a family that likes cold beer and cheese dip. The main reason why we picked all you can eat was that you can try different things, you don't just have to eat tacos. I have to say overall it's pretty average Mexican food or as we call it American Mexican. Cheese dip was very good and the beer was cold. The waitress was very attentive. On average when I score a place it would've been a little bit lower but we let them know when we arrive. That we only had an hour because we were going to a comedy show, they understood and took care of us so we can make it on time. Now that being said, very good place to go get chips , salsa, cheese dip and a few tacos .Now if you're expecting a certain type of a taco or certain type of chimichanga, you may wanna go elsewhere.

Miriam C.

Yelp
We've been here a few times over the last few years. Our most recent trip we went for lunch over Christmas break. We were seated immediately which was a plus. The margaritas weren't very strong and tasted a lot like mixer, which is why I'm taking a star. They didn't use to be that way. Service was ok, not great, but not bad either. Lunch prices were great! Food was yummy! Would be back for lunch!

Manuel G.

Yelp
If you're in The Jacksonville Florida area I recommend you trying Ole Mexican Restaurant. The unique flavor the food has inspired me to leave this review. The service was second to none and the restaurant's atmosphere was very appealing. Being from Texas I can see that the owner has taken time to capture the taste of Mexican cuisine. So when you're traveling and you find yourself in the Jacksonville area I think you should give Ole Mexican Restaurant a try!

Olivia J.

Yelp
I've been ordering from Ole Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville, FL through DoorDash and Uber Eats multiple times, and every experience has been absolutely fantastic! My go-to order includes the Vegetarian Cheese Enchiladas with a side of Spanish rice. These enchiladas are a true delight, packed with flavor and generous with the cheese. They're consistently great every time I order. To complement my meal, I always add a side of guacamole, which is fresh, creamy, and the perfect pairing. And let's not forget the Frozen Mango Margarita - it's a tropical delight that adds an extra layer of enjoyment to my experience. Occasionally, I opt for Horchata when I'm not in the mood for alcohol, and it's always satisfyingly sweet and refreshing. One of the things I love about Ole Mexican is that they include free chips and salsa with every meal. It's a little extra touch that makes the whole meal even better. The quality of the food and the consistency of the flavors keep me coming back for more. The convenience of ordering through delivery services like DoorDash and Uber Eats is a huge plus, too. If you're in the mood for delicious Mexican cuisine that never disappoints, Ole Mexican is the place to go. I can't recommend them enough, and they deserve a solid 5-star rating for their consistently great food and service!

Yelp
I haven't been to Ole' Mexican Restaurant since my children were younger; my husband worked nearby and we ate here often. So when a friend suggested it for lunch, I jumped at the chance to go. It has changed a bit, but for the better. It is a lot brighter inside and cleaner looking, but the parking lot is still very cramped and hard to navigate around giant vanity vehicles who park badly. LOL We arrived just as they opened but they already had people seated and taking orders. The waiter was pleasant but a bit harried. The complimentary chips and salsa were nice but the salsa was quite bland. My friend asked if they had a hotter one and we were given a bowl of chipotle sauce full of seeds. Odd. I ordered the Echiladas Especial (chicken) and they were very good. The chicken, all white meat, was shredded and tender with a good seasoning. The little salad with guacamole was very fresh. It wasn't a lot of food, but it was just the right amount for me. My friend ordered the half portion of Nachos Rancheros and they accommodated her request to have fajita steak (upcharge) instead of the ground beef or chicken. They also swapped the pickled jalapeños for fresh. Her plate didn't photograph well, but she was very pleased with what she received. All in all, it was a very pleasant lunch and I would definitely come back here again if I'm in this neighborhood. They have a lot of themed days with sales on different dishes that seem fun to try out.

Yelp
This will be my fourth time coming here. I told myself next time I come it will be on a Wednesday so try the Buffet to see what all the hype is about. Definitely worth it. As you can see in the picture we started destroying our food once we got it until I remembered I gotta take some quick pictures which I guess shows how much we really liked the food since that was only 3 minutes into eating. The waiter was serving all 7 tables by hisself so he respectfully asked us to order everything we want in just one request. So we did which they brought out alot of plates and we looked like maniacs shoving all this food down a throat hoping one plate to another. We enjoyed our time here and recommend the buffet but remember if you do get a buffet order what you can eat so you're not wasting food. This is a respectful family joint we made sure our plates were clean before we left.

Antonio A.

Yelp
Food was good, service was awful. Did not attend/check on us ones to ask if we needed more salsa or chips, we stood there starving, until our main dish showed up. He came to check on us when we were almost done with everything, this was our first time at this restaurant and this was a very unsatisfying experience.

Rick D.

Yelp
This is an old favorite of mine. I have never ordered anything I didn't enjoy here and the servers are always amazing. My only complaint would be that they don't allow dogs on the patio! Tonight I had the cheese dip for an appetizer, and it is always tasty and thick. Love it. Followed by the Flautas, chicken and beef combo! Very tasty and crispy. They are always quick to bring more chips and salsa. The margaritas are amazing but be careful, they sneak up on you! Two small ones is all I can handle. All together, a community favorite! I highly recommend!

Jeffery H.

Yelp
Looking for tasty affordable Mex and Tex Mex, look no further. I tend to go on Thursdays where, yes, they have $1 crispy tacos. I have also enjoyed their Chicken Mole, Chile Relleno, Flautas (they are fat and full) Chile Con Carne. I bet that con carne is good over a burrito or even the relleno. The chips are endless and the house salsa is very tasty. The drinks are generous with a fair pour. The location is not the best but for tasty and affordable Mexican food it's worth the minor traffic issues.

Stumpy F.

Yelp
Staff was friendly but that's where the good experience ended. We ordered a take out and when we got home we noticed that about 25% of the order was missing, decided to just get refund instead of driving back to the restaurant but wish we would have gone back to the restaurant because food was not hot and I do realize that takeout doesn't come hot but this was refrigerator cold. The food was under seasoned(salt&pepper) except for the spicy seasoning which was good. My wife said that they brought out fresh Churros and they were way under cooked, raw dough under cooked but still had good flavor if you look passed the raw dough taste. Not sure if they just had a bad day or they just suck all the time, I won't go there again to find out

Luis D.

Yelp
We were next door getting a tuneup on our car and decided to spend our time intelligently. My wife had seen a sign for margaritas and invited me for a happy hour. We came in around 5pm and we were pleasently surprised at the nice happy hour menu. The margaritas were $3.50 each and they were strong. They also had $1 tacos. We ordered a few tacos and some margaritas for a nice snack. The server also brought us complimentary chips and salsa. Both the chips and salsa were good too. I like this place. The service is solid too. We had this nice man as our server and he was quick. The place began to fill up quickly after we sat down. We will be back for sure.

Edith L.

Yelp
Stop in for quick bite before going to class; restaurant looks amazing, the Rice & Chicken was really good. Couldn't finish my plate so I packed my leftovers for lunch!

Tawny R.

Yelp
Great service. Absolutely love this restaurant. Real authentic Mexican food. Have been going here for years. Is the only place that I've found that compares to the food you'd get being in Mexico at a restaurant. Will continue to frequent here till the end of time. Highly recommend.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Not the best Mexican restaurant for me. My impression at first was, "This place looks pretty good from the outside" but it was just simple inside and the service was very slow. Our server was not very friendly. We went during off peak hours between 3 to 4pm and there was not a lot of customers but still it took about 20 mins for them to get our food and drinks order. The same thing happened when we were getting our check and we had to wait for our server for another 20 mins. The food was okay, I tried the California Steak Burrito. It just tasted like any other regular burrito. Nothing special stood out about it. But I would give this place another chance since I've only been once and I've only tried one meal. However, I wasn't impressed but hopefully that changes on another visit.

Gordon M.

Yelp
On a trip to Coliseum of Comics in Jacksonville. Dinner on a Tuesday. So went looking for possible taco Tuesday places and found Ole. It was a very pleasant experience. The place was about 75% full. Food service was very good. I had a quesadilla with shrimp. Added green peppers and onion. It was just right. Husband had the eggs enchiladas. Spicy good for him. All in all, very nice place.

Katherine M.

Yelp
Ole is a family favorite in our household! We've been coming here for 10 years now and love everything on the menu. The staff is always so friendly and attentive. The focus on health and safety is top notch, with precautions taken by staff, and I even noticed that they changed their menu to ones with antimicrobial covers (it said so on the bottom of the menu) to help stop the spread of germs and bacteria. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Ps, order the queso, it's primo!

Matt F.

Yelp
Love this place! Literally addicting! Great prices on everything. My favorite is the California Burrito and Jalapeño poppers! Mario is amazing and does an excellent job, i always request him. Really appreciate a restaurant that does it the right way! Always recommending here to my friends and family!

Angel M.

Yelp
Margarita is completely terrible. Didn't have any food so I can't talk about that. Had a margarita or attempted to, and was highly dissatisfied. If I ever go back, I will stick to bottle beer!

Rick P.

Yelp
It has been ages since I've been to Ole. The place was busy as heck but seated right away. Started off with a negra modelo. Not many places have that for a beer. I wish I would have gotten the waitress ' name. She was very good and even though it was busy we didn't have to wait for thing. A very nice person with an electric smile. I had the combo platter with a chicken enchilada and soft shelled taco. Ordered another taco to go along with it, beef one. This order also came with rice and beans. Very good, big portions and I'm stuffed. Goldie got a another combo with a tostada and quesadilla. She had to take part of it home. Ernie got a burrito and this burrito is HUGE. He ate half and the rest was for lunch tomorrow. Good service and food even with it being busy. Look for Ole. Can't go wrong for good Mexican food.

April L.

Yelp
I haven't been to Ole since 2006. It's every bit as good as I remember. I stopped in for lunch today to satisfy my Mexican craving. They have a nice bar and the restaurant is very clean. I was seated right away at a cozy little booth. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think the salsa is a little weak. It really needs more spice to it. I had to add the green chili sauce to kick it up. I did like the warm chips though. I was amazed how much food they give for lunch. I ordered the $9 lunch fajitas at it was amazing. So much food for the money and great quality ingredients. The fajitas came out on a steaming hot cast iron dish. The chicken was very tender and it was seasoned perfectly. It also came with a side order of refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. The tortillas were warm and wrapped inside aluminum foil. My server was great as well. He was quick to refill my drink and the food came out within 10 minutes. Very efficient! There was a pretty good lunch crowd which is always a good sign. My hubby loves fajitas and I can't wait to take him here. I'd like to visit when they have live music. They should be fun. Ole has the triple treat. Quality, quantity and great service. Bravo!

Gene P.

Yelp
We come here often... It's all good and the service has always been great... The food is Mexican American... and very good. The salsas is great. The chips are warm and really good with the delicious salsa. Honestly, these folks are working hard for our business... like when they are super busy on the weekends they have someone directing traffic cause parking is a challenge. So the food... it is really good... Now they offer AYCE buffet for dinner. Check the pics for the menu. Plus... the margaritas are super fine. Highly suggest it if you want some solid good food and great service.

Evan J.

Yelp
Good customer service! I really enjoyed the tamale, chille relleno, and the frozen margaritas are awesome. In general this place is clean and friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for fancy authentic, this is the wrong place. But i love it. I do think they should cook the chille relleno longer because its never golden brown. I also think the enchiladas should be cooked longer. Also the pina colada is terrible but hey honest review.

Nyla S.

Yelp
I love Ole's because the food comes out quick and it's surprisingly delicious. They also have decent customer service and stiff margaritas. I've had everything from their fajitas, nachos, to the tomales, enchiladas, chile rellano, wings and my absolute favorite... The carnitas!!! Their pork is fall apart tender and has a better taste than other Mexican restaurants that I've tried. Their location is convenient sitting right on Atlantic Blvd with parking in the front and rear. No matter the time of day that I've came here they're consistently good, and I love consistency. If you're in the Arlington area and you're looking for stiff drinks, flavorful food and a relaxing dining experience than Ole's is the place to be. They also have karaoke here some nights, I've came a few times when I was feeling social but it's not my thing all the time. Happy Yelping...

Laur R.

Yelp
The service isn't always the best, but they offer some great vegetarian plates. The cheese enchiladas and bean burritos are delicious and filling at great prices.

Jerry W.

Yelp
Ole has gotten really consistent with quality and service. The food is tasty and exactly what you're expecting pretty much every time.

Dr. D.

Yelp
I've been there a total of six times to get takeout and they have some of the best Mexican food I've had since moving to Jacksonville. The staff is friendly and you never wait too long for your food. Prices are pretty reasonable and me and my roommates will be returning soon!

Ken K.

Yelp
They use real cheese. 3 stars right there (So many Mexican places in JAX replace cheese with a think soupy queso....you want to dip chips in that fine - but it is NOT a cheese replacement in dishes.) The Fajita nachos were a little plain (cheese, steak, that's it...)but tasty - the wife loved the Chicken fajitas, My lunch combo was excellent....a solid place I'll be back to for lunch.

Michael R.

Yelp
This is an average Mexican restaurant. The food here is pretty much same as other Mexican restaurants.

W L.

Yelp
Very good restaurant with friendly and professional stuff. If you are authentic food lover this place is a must.

Arlyn D.

Yelp
I absolutely love Ole' Mexican restaurant. We go there every couple weeks. The service is always great there is one particular server who we just love his name is Angelo. Always on top of everything. On Thursdays they have $1 tacos and 3 and $5 margaritas and $4 beers. Their chile rellenos are delicious. I've also had the empanadas which are also delicious. There was an older lady who at the register who is always very sweet and pleasant. We tried a couple other places here in town but we keep coming back to Ole'. This is our place for Mexican food and drinks always the best.

Maggie P.

Yelp
Great chips, salsa and queso. We came on a Wednesday so it was happy hour until 7pm and my "small" $3 margarita was a great size. I was super impressed. They have normal, mango, strawberry and pina colada. The frozen strawberry was super good and stronnnggg which I wasn't expecting but definitely not complaining. Our server was amazing and very attentive despite having a lot of tables. The fajitas were amazing and a great deal. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be returning.

Cat C.

Yelp
ole never disappoints! the staff is always friendly, and the food is always yummy. just beware of the margaritas, they get pretty heavy handed with the alcohol. other than that my boyfriend and i love coming here!

Zack M.

Yelp
Somehow this came up on my recommended on yelp, this place is awesome! Sunday all you can eat tacos 9.99, 4$ large drafts! I will be coming back! I had a great time!

Nella R.

Yelp
It was a damp cold Saturday evening & we had intended to make our way downtown for a nice dinner at a trendy place we recently visited that had hosted a 'SpeckCuliar' Cocktail Academy Event in the past .... As the fog grew thicker, clouds overtook the night sky ... And who wants to play the 'where shld we park Downtown' game on a yucky night? Knowing where to find the answer to 'Where do we Eat now' ... We pulled out our phones & went straight to Yelp! Saved again!! Maybe we were just hungry for good Mexican food - the reviews were pretty good & it had been at least 8yrs since we were last here. The parking area wasn't very crowded & we were seated immediately, in a booth as requested. The house music was a little too loud, which was causing diners to practically yell at each other across the tables, so the noise was like 15 people trying to dine at a Kid Rock arena concert. Alas a wonderfully talented, tiny 11yr old gal pranced up to the Karaoke booth & did a great job at capturing most everyone's attention. We ordered drinks, a large (it's huge!!) Queso Dip & Guacamole. The salsa provided was excellent, tasted fresh and wasn't overdosed w cilantro, like some places. After we ordered our meal - Next up was a dude who was indulging himself at the bar to badly - very badly- sing us a -horrible- rendition of his heartfelt emotional song from a recent break up. But hey, dude got up there & DID IT. Hopefully it helped heal the wounds. That was almost painful. I ordered a regular top shelf Margarita & the El Macho - I wanted to sample it all! for only $10.49, it's a great deal!! I got a Taco, Tostada, Chile Relenas, enchilada, & burrito w meat of my choice (beef). This was So good! For a small diner type Mexican restaurant- this place gets it right! The Chile Relenas was perfectly stuffed, battered, & fried. The Chile peppers they use are mild enough for almost all but still have enough flavor to know yA are eating a Chile pepper. It was my favorite dish. Everything was really good though. Hubby ordered his traditional Bud Light, two Chicken Quesadillas & rice w beans - all covered in Queso (just in case the small vat we ordered w our chips wasn't enough for the TWO of us), all of which he thoroughly enjoyed. Neither of us could finish our entire meal because there was plenty provided w each entrée. We really enjoyed the food & the place was pretty awesome despite the very loud house music (it did seem the Karaoke was much quieter, so I think they turn it down in case your off key or just bad ...) My margarita had me feeling very nice & only $1 more than the happy hour price for top shelf! Extra bonus! Oh no here comes the heartbroken guy from the bar back on stage .... We're outta here!! Can't wait to get back to that side of town for dinner!! Enjoy!!

Dorris W.

Yelp
It was okay but their taco salad was like drinking spicy water with your veggies, guacamole and sour cream.

Debbie F.

Yelp
Ole's has music! Yes Sing aloud and even dance if you want to. Great for celebrations. The service is prompt and the food is affordable. The portions are generous so you may have lunch also or be able to share a meal with that special someone. It is my place of choice in the regency area. It can pack out so come early. They have Karaoke with a all you can eat night also. Tacos are always a GrEaT choice if I do say so myself! OLE'

Elle S.

Yelp
This place always gives me a reason to write a good review. They're back open and ready for business after Covid-19. Such a sweet, attentive waitress. Love the food and drinks here. Clean and prompt. They do pick up if you still prefer this right now. Wait staff is wearing masks.
