This cute little hat store in old San Juan is like no other. Whether you are into hats or not, you shouldn’t totally stop by. They have so many cool little things beyond authentic hats!! It’s a real store with some amazing craft that exists. They did a bat fitting for my hubby and he found he perfect colonial Panama hat and was able to customise with the ribbon exactly how he wanted it. He was so pleased with the experience and glad that we found this shop for his hat purchase! The young guy and the gal who helped us were really very nice and patient and so was the owner. She was really experienced with hats and super helpful and she even gave us tips on where we could and couldn’t park in the local zones. We were very appreciative as it saved us from getting a ticket. I would highly recommend this cute little hot shop both for its products and amazing staff that will serve you :)

I have been looking for an authentic Panama hat for years. After reading the reviews of this hat shop, I knew I had to visit Ole PR. I was not disappointed. Great hats, selection and service. You get the style, the fit, and you get to pick out your hat band. The two ladies know their stuff. I bought one for me and my wife found one she liked as well. We both got value and a pleasant shopping experience. That shop is a must stop in San Juan, PR.

I was in Old San Juan for day and planned on stopping by Olé for a custom-designed Panama hat. The experience didn't disappoint. I believe it was Christine who fitted me, and helped pick out and put together my perfect Panama. There's an almost overwhelming selection to choose from so I'm thankful that she offered such helpful guidance. I also bought a watercolor by her that she signed. Highly recommend this option if it's in your budget!

Once I heard you could get a custom made Panama hat at Olé, I was sold. I took my friend with me, and while we both bought hats, neither was a "Panama Hat". lended up with a long brim fedora and she got another style I can't remember the name of. We were welcomed warmly by the staff, who were very knowledgeable and helped us through several drafts before we settled on our hat and band selections. The staff has been doing this for years, and their advice was very helpful. I would allow an hour for the whole process. There is a bit of a wait as each hat is handmade and customized, but it wasn't a bothersome wait. We put our names on the wait list for the restaurant across the street (Barrachina) and enjoyed chatting with the staff and watching and learning about the process. The staff are lovely, and we could not be more thrilled with our hats. There is also a little discount if you pay in cash or use Venmo. We love Olé!

A novelty stop with a lot of choices. Fedora Panama hat, beautiful women's sun hats and other hats I don't remember the names. They will custom fit to your head if needed and give you a choice of bands or ribbons. Handmade. A very small shop with a lot of hats. They lose one star for the price which is obviously ridiculous for tourists on Fortaleza street. Handmade or not, the material didn't seem any different and they are not any more sturdy so to charge $90 for a white Panama hat seems excessive. I mean add my initials or an inscription or something inside for that price. In the end I bought one so I could feel mine was special and have it as my souvenir. The logical person in me is still struggling with this choice. But if you have no issue with those prices than it's a great shop.

Genuine Panama hats not made in China can be found here. This hat shop is family owned and world renowned. Custom fit fedoras, panama hats and wide brimmed. I've known about this place for years and was happy to finally make my way in. I knew what I wanted but didnt know my size. First hat the nice family member helped me with was the perfect style and look I wanted. I tried a few more styles but went with the first one. They can make it however you want. Change the bands or whatever. When I left the shop I kept getting compliments everywhere I went. It just fit well and was a pleasant accessory to my outfit. I will be back in Puerto Rico in a few months so I will be back for another custom hat. Last time in Puerto Rico I wanted a Fedora:Panamanian Hat at this small shop in town. Family owned hand woven beautiful hats. And donna said two years ago I should get it because I might not get another chance. And I didn't and regretted it. So when we planned another Puerto Rico vacation this year I said I'm not passing up this time. Saved up some money and So I did!!! I budgeted $200 and it was only $80. So bella gets one too. Lol she looks so cute. They were so helpful in sizing. Then helping pick out the ribbon. Then they put it together for us with a personalized leather message thing in the inside. It's not just buying a hat from a hat rack. It was a full and great experience.

I loved my hat. Until I went to grab it, lightly, and the fibers split. Hoping someone reaches out to make this wrong a right for a hat I loved and spent over $135 on, two weeks after purchase. Beautiful hat but disappointed in the service and inability to exchange for a faulty product. Happy to change my review if they replace the hat.

I love hats and I love this store. This is my second visit to this store to purchase a fitted hat that is custom-made to my preference. The Panamá-style hats are actually made in Ecuador. Came in to look for a new hat, had one that I have let dry out and it cracked. They were so helpful and gave good guidance as well as made sure it fit perfectly before I left. To add to the great experience, as I was looking the owner took my old hat and repaired it for no charge AND made a hat box to transport it home in!!!

Such a cute variety shop in Old San Juan. The space is a bit cramped but that just adds to the charm. It's exciting to explore, gazing up on the high walls that are lined with artwork that is for sale! The specialize in Panama hats, which we learned are not from Panama (the guy at the shop gave us a quick history of them) and have a wide variety including some that have hand-painted designs on them. Very cool! I wish I was a hat-guy but unfortunately my melon head just doesn't work with them! They also sell lots of prints and originals from Puertorican artists that are just so cool. The location is in the middle of everything and the staff are very friendly. The two people that were there on the day of our visit spoke English, so check it out and buy something unique!

So happy to buy a real Panama hat from the famous and historic Olé in Old San Juan. It's beautiful and comfortable. I really am proud to wear this traditional style hat and exhibit the incredible fine work of the artisans. This was just the best experience. Great quality, local, handmade, and custom fit for each customer. Such great attention to detail and customer experience. Will definitely be coming back next year to have our hats examined as well as buying a new one.

If you are looking for a fedora aka bolero, this is THE PLACE to go to. After walking around for days and checking many of them out, I came back to this shop because they are custom made and they make sure the fit is PERFECT. Your money will be very well spent if you want a great quality hat!

Love love love this place! The ladies that were helping my husband and I were super sweet and helpful. We went in for one hat and left with two. They fit the hat to your head and you can choose the ribbon. The best part is that they ARE NOT made in China, they are made in Latin America. Oh for 2 hats it came out to $120 but it's worth it! The quality is amazing!

What can you say about this San Juan institution? The staff are friendly and helpful, the owner is wonderful and lets our boys play with the resident dog, and the shop is as interesting as it is charming. My 2 year-old Panama hat still looks great even after many long flights, two summers on the Lake and countless mishaps with our boys.

I made sure to search this shop out in OSJ. It was charming and I loved it! My mother and I walked away with two completely different but awesome straw hats. If you're looking for santos, they have them. Know that while they are vintage and expensive (started at $500 when we were there), they are gorgeous and well curated selection. Pro tip - they have really cool vintage patches and some great artwork in the back!

Olé was one of the highlights of my trip to Puerto Rico! If you're looking for a unique gift, I highly recommend this little shop. It is well known for its selection of sombreros de Panamá y antigüedades, and it did not disappoint. Guillermo and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I've been looking for the perfect hat for quite some time, and they found it! They offer a variety of sizes, colors and accent ribbons, so you will walk out with a completely unique hat. They also have an incredible collection of antiques and old prints. I left with a hat, a print and a few small gifts - I'll definitely be back!

My wife wanted to buy me a Panama hat for my birthday. Ole came highly recommended. The two women who run the shop are very accommodating and helped me pick the perfect hat. I was able to select the band around the hat. They also made sure it fit perfectly. Great place.

My brother was excited to go here and see what it was all about after reading the NYT suggestions for 36 hours in PR. What a fun experience and amazing staff. They were patient and fit my brother and mother with beautiful, perfectly fitted, custom hats. They are a bit pricey but they make them immediately for you to sit perfectly on your head. What more can you ask for?! cute little shop we were happy to experience!

Best hat shop! Sales assistants extremely helpful. Huge selection of real Panamas with variety of prices. You can get hats as low as $65 and go up to several thousand. They make each hat custom fit. On the back of the store they have antique store. Must visit place in San Juan. And Panama hat - must buy while you have vacation in Puerto Rico.

YAY a hat that finally fits my tiny head LOL I love the fact that it was a wonderful experience. However, the hats were kinda pricey and the one I really wanted was upwards of $175 to $250, but I settled for the $75 one. The staff was helpful and you can choose the color band you want and they type of bow or style you want. Note: they give you a discount if you pay in cash versus credit card so my $75 hat was actually $72.

You can go to any Walmart or Walgreens in Puerto Rico and buy yourself a "Panama Hat"for maybe 9 bucks. If you want the real deal in a rustic setting you need to go here. I walked in with the intention of buying a Panama Hat knowing I would spend $60 minimum. The money was well spent as the two ladies in the shop meticulously helped me find the right fit. I was impressed with their attention to detail as they attended to me. After assuring all was right they even boxed the hat for me so I could safely carry it on the airplane home. The hat itself is awesome and I even took a few pictures inside the store as a memory of my trip to Puerto Rico.

They sell a large variety of custom fit Panama hats with customizable ribbons for both men and women. Sure you can buy a Panama hat from any random hat store. But at Olé, it's the hat-buying experience that sets them apart from all the rest. First, you pick out the style you prefer out of the dozens of styles throughout the shop. Next, the staff will help you find the size that fits best with a little measuring. Next, you get to pick out the color scheme of the ribbon that they'll manually attach to your personalized hat. For the final Olé touch, they ask you inscribe their leather label with something of your choosing. Most buyers will write their initials, some include their date of purchase as well, while others will include a personal message especially if it's a gift. The staff will affix this leather Olé label on the inside of the hat's top with a dab of glue. You're there for every step of the making of your new Panama hat. The experience of buying your hat at Olé is second to none and will leave you not only loving your new hat, but having a great experience and unique story to tell about how and where you got it. There are so many unique family owned shops and restaurants in Old San Juan, and Olé Curiosidades is one you shouldn't miss.

I didn't get a hat here not a big fan of that type is hat but my wife and family got hats. I captured the whole process of getting fitted for a hat and learning about the hats. We all enjoyed the stories and attention we got from the folks here. Awesome experience!! My wife loves her hat and found reasons to wear it!

They don't get much nicer than Mr. Guillermo Cristian Jeffs. This was the one shop my wife wanted to visit while in San Juan; we were not disappointed. My wife and daughters had a great experience with masters of their craft. Guillermo and his staff really put their hearts in their work, and they were all equally great with the kids. We saw Guillermo a few hours later on the streets and he was sure to say hello (maybe he recognized the hats)! I would definitely recommend. By the way, they also had some really cool paintings and drawings, and a shoe department.

I bought a hat at Ole two years ago on a cruise out of San Juan. I promptly damaged the black band when I got caught in a rain storm. Two years later, I was back in San Juan and wandered back into the shop to see if they would fix the band. The owner took a look at my hat and asked me what happened. I explained, and he said, 'This is a hat, not an umbrella." Free, good advice. He then proceeded to not only fix the band, but to resize the entire hat, as apparently I had done more damage than I thought. After his stellar work, I asked him how much for the fix. "Nothing," he said. I should add that at no point did he ask if I had purchased the hat there nor did he ask for a receipt--he just genuinely seemed to want to fix my hat. So now my Panama Hat is back to perfect condition. I hope this story gives you an idea of the love they have for their product, and the care you will get they make the perfect fitting hat for you.

Absolutely a must visit in San Juan and a perfect shop. My son got a hat here, the owner takes time to fit you perfectly, let him pick out the ribbon and had him help install it. It was an awesome experience and well worth anything they charge. The hat quality cannot be beat.

A real find - someone who actually knows about and understands hats! Great selection of Panama hats of all styles - men's, women's, and children's. Most of the hats on display are inexpensive ($65ish) Panamas, but they have hats upwards of $400 if you are so inclined. Liking hats as I do, I asked for a better quality hat, and was shown the most expensive in the store, so they know how to sell! I settled for a $150 Panama that they discounted a little (my wife also bought a hat there). Very happy, glad I found this store!

I love this place! As soon as we walked in they treated us well. They knew exactly the size hat my daughter needed and didn't even pressure us to purchase. They stayed opened even after their normal hours until she made a decision. I will definitely go back and recommend my friends there.

High quality Panama handmade pamelas and hats. You can customize your hat with multiple colors to chose from. The employees are very nice and they help you to find the right hat size. It is located very close to La Fortaleza in Old San Juan which makes the trip to the store a cultural experience. They also have espadrilles (shoes from Spain) and santos tallados (saint wood carvings). I love this store and can't wait to return to the Island to buy something there.

I fell in love with this place as soon as we walked in.. They had what I was looking for (I think better than what I expected). One of the Owner's daughter was the one that helped me out choosing the best hat for me.. She was so sweet and surprised me with the hat style!!! After We got out from the store I realized that I didn't take a picture with her, and by the time we came back she was out having lunch.. But the Owner was there, he was so sweet as well and I took a picture with him and my new hat!!! I highly recommend this place to everyone... They have different type of hats, styles for everyone!!! I can't wait to go back and get my second handmade hat!!

I had read so many reviews and was so excited that I expected to be let down in the end. Luckily the shop lived up to all the hype. I got an awesome tan hat for 75 and it fits perfect and looks sharp. The staff was great and the owner personally thanked me. Side note: the restaurant next door was recommended by the staff and their mofongo was good.

At the suggestion of the NY Times, we stopped in here during a recent visit to Old San Juan for an authentic Panama hat. The ladies working in the shop were pleasant and helpful, offering suggestions and working hard to find something we liked. Hubby's got a sizeable noggin, so we appreciated the courteous, thorough service. Watching the custom band being applied was the icing on the cake. My husband's hat looks great, and I am proud to have bought it from a local business!

I have never been so excited about something in my life. Ole gives you a wide range of different bands and the way they make it right in front of you is really cool. They even let you take pictures. If you like to collect things this is the place for you. It is also a pretty good fasion statement. Just went for our second trip to PR. I bought my hat here on my trip last year. Store owners are very helpful in helping to select a proper shaped hat and getting it to fit properly. Reasonably priced for the product you are receiving.

I had an original hat still rolled up in the box, that I had gotten from my best friend in 1986. I first went to the shop and asked if they might be able to shape the hat, when asked to see it, I then realized I had left it at the hotel. The next day me and my buddy who had given it to me went back, we all were amazed that the quality/flexibility had held up and they could do the job. To make a long story short, they did an outstanding job in less than an hour, providing a custom fit and several styles to choose from. Needless to say, this was the highlight of the trip, it was a pleasure dealing with everyone in the store, and I would highly recommend anyone going to Old San Juan to visit this wonderful shop.
