An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"This bright, airy, brand-new Edmonton space from chef Daniel Costa (the Edmonton-bred, Campagnia-rooted chef behind Mimi Bar, Bar Bricco, and Bar Henry) is a temple to fresh pasta. Bright green swirls of tagliatelle are handmade each morning and finished simply with sage and Parmigiano. Raviolini is stuffed with pockets of tender lamb Genovese, and pillowy gnocchi receives a topping of house-smoked stracciatella. Save room for the striking secondi: The behemoth Florentine bistecca, a two-inch thick T-bone finished in anchovy butter, or sablefish dressed with Canadian scallops, tiny clams, and prawns. The pale, minimalist, and perfectly posh room tends to draw in a dressed-up downtown crowd, who are as much there for pasta as they are for the buzzing room and smart cocktail lists." - Kate Dingwall

You better make reservations, days or even weeks ahead. We tried to make weekend reservations a few days ahead and failed a couple times, our visit was booked nearly 2 weeks ahead. Popular place, connected with Mimi Bar (opens late) and Va Va Va (opens and closes early) so attracts customers for all hours around the clock. Family style so tables vary from 2 to parties of 10+, nice decor, low ceiling, so restaurant gets very very very loud, making it difficult to talk with your partner even if they're directly across from you. Food quality was excellent, great selection, portions are not big so can try on different items. Servers were mediocre, not much recommendations when needed, just there to take your orders, so service can use some improvements. Overall worth trying, may come back again.

I wish I could give this restaurant 4.5 out of 5 We visited for an early birthday celebration and made reservations online. We were seated quickly, which was a great start. The atmosphere and decor are fantastic—stylish and inviting. The table spacing felt a bit tight, and there seemed to be more small tables than large ones, so I definitely recommend booking a reservation in advance. **Service:** The service was excellent overall. Our server was knowledgeable, especially when recommending wines. There was one small hiccup—water was accidentally spilled on one of our friends—but the staff responded quickly and handled it well. **Food:** We started with the beef tartare. It was a bit different from what I expected, and not quite to my taste—I'd give it a 3 out of 5. For our mains, we ordered the gnocchi and the pork tenderloin. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared—I’d rate them a solid 4.25 out of 5. The prices are on the higher side, but that was expected given the quality and ambiance. **Final Thoughts:** Despite a couple of minor issues, I’d definitely recommend this place and would happily return

Service and food was amazing! We came here for the first time on a Sunday evening (without reservations) and despite them being busy they were able to make room and seat us at the bar. The bar tender went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was top notch. Wonderful experience and food was excellent. Thank you for making our anniversary special!

We were in town to visit a friend and he mentioned that this is his favorite restaurant in Edmonton. Naturally we needed to try it. We were not disappointed. I have a few dietary constraints and the staff was very accommodating. The ambience is elegant and upscale. The food and service were simply outstanding. We would highly recommend checking this place out!

I came here recently with my partner and we opted into the set menu with a split wine pairing. The quality of the food was really exceptional. All the antipasti had a good level of texture, taste, and the portions were good with the right level of seasoning. The highlight antipasti dishes would be the salad and the ricotta dish and would recommend trying those if not opting for the tasting menu. The pasta and pork dish had a good portion to them with the pasta having a decadent filling and the cauliflower puree having a smooth mouth feel that contrasted well with the pork. The dessert albeit simple was a very generous portion and also had a good amount of difference in texture and taste among the fruit and nuts inside the dish. The wine pairing showcased a few different highlight wines in Italy and they were generous with the pour. The combination of the wine and the dishes worked very well flavour wise. I would say that the only area for improvement would be the service. All the antipasti dishes came in roughly the same period, and my partner wasn't there for the explanation of the dishes. It would have been better if they had waiting so everyone was there to hear it. Secondly, during the pasta dish, we were about halfway done the dish before the staff recognized we havn't had the wine pairing poured for us yet. Despite this, I will say it was a busy evening so I can appreciate that it is harder to manage the same level of service for all tables. Overall, I would say that the quality of the food and the value of the tasting menu would be worth going for again. It was very generous portion wise, and the wine pairing was done very well. There is some areas of service that can be improved but I would visit again as the value proposition is very well done.

What a gorgeous restaurant, I absolutely loved the layout! The food was indulgent, and our server was kind enough to walk us through the menu as we got appetizers and entree’s. I got the gnocchi. It was delicious, and even came with a spicy chilli oil on the side which was a nice touch to the savoury flavours of the dish itself.

Had an amazing dinner for a friend's birthday. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She was accommodating with our dietary restrictions and splitting our bill at then end. Would definitely come back for the food and the service!

Visited a few months back for my boyfriends birthday. It was our first time and it was incredible. Our server was so kind and attentive and gave us good recommendations. I really enjoyed their take on a paper plane (cocktail). Probably the best paper plane I’ve ever had. I didn’t take pictures of what we ate but the highlight dish was definitely the seafood pasta. Would visit again!
