Olif Guesthouse | Best places to stay in the Snowdonia National Park

"Expect a cosy, home-from-home vibe at this adults-only boutique guesthouse nestled into the heart of Betws-y-Coed’s main thoroughfare, with comfy contemporary rooms and great local cooking. The big draw is the home-cooked food, the Welsh tapas menu bringing a local-pride flavour to a series of Mediterranean small plates. A large selection of artisan Welsh gins adds to the appeal for a celebratory nightcap. Appealing to families and fans of nearby adventure sports activities, it represents a good-value base to explore Snowdonia. It’s also a peaceful overnight stop to enjoy Betws once the coach parties have trundled off late afternoon. " - David Atkinson

Incredible tapas. Food was amazing, every single one of our 7 tapas dishes was delicious. We could not fault the food or restaurant at all. The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly and the quality of the food was top tier. We booked at 8:30pm, which is their last sitting. We ordered 7 tapas dishes between 2 of us (we were very hungry having not had lunch) which was more than enough for us. The dessert menu looked great, and we also managed to share a popcorn cheesecake. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Outstanding food. Some of the best tapas we have had in a long time, each dish of wonderful local produce cooked with thought and care - everything was delicious. Good service, great location, set up, nice interior plus friendly staff - what more can you ask for after a long days walk 🙏

We had a delightful few days at Olif on our first visit to Wales! The staff were wonderful, the location was amazing, the breakfast and tapas were delicious, and the room (window view of the street in front) was clean, comfy, and charming. The location is great for access to the city and all of the outdoor activities in the area. Thanks to all the team for making our stay a memorable one. Would definitely return when back in the area.

We didn't stay here but ate at the restaurant and it was a fabulous experience. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and top quality food and wines. Anglesey eggs were amazing and a first for me. We will look to stay here too next time we're in the area.

Booked this as a last minute getaway so I could hike Snowdon. |The location is perfect, in the centre of picturesque Betws-y-coed. Parking was easy. |The room I stayed in was immaculate and well stocked with lots of nice things in a mini bar as well as a nespresso coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bed linen and pillows. |I booked for both nights, and it was sensational. It’s a Welsh tapas fusion, lots of options and they cater to all dietary requirements. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, and this is coming from a food snob :) |Breakfast was one of the nicest I’ve ever had. |The hospitality was second to none, I was well looked after by everyone, particularly the lady on my second night on the Saturday. |I’ll return here as often as I can, don’t hesitate to book.

It was nice to meet Aubrey in the morning, after a good nights sleep, who produced a great breakfast. I'm not a fan of the self check-in, and breakfast selection online , however nothing to stop us coming again if going to the area. We enjoyed a lovely stay.

We visited with friends who are “foodies” and really appreciate good food.|We weren’t disappointed, we had starters and then shared various Tapas dishes.|I can only say that the food was all freshly prepared and absolutely |delicious. The dishes included; Prawns, Beef, mushrooms and potatoes.|We also had an Italian bottle of red, which was also lovely.|Overall we had a real feast and unfortunately left no room for desert.

Yelp
Superb tapas, great drinks menu, excellent service. Locally and responsibly sourced products, most dishes have a Welsh influence, great flavours and good selection. They also do burgers and some other dishes if you don't like tapas. Thanks!

Yelp
We came to Wales for a couple of weeks, hoping to find some great Welsh food. Until we found Olif, we'd had British pub food, some great Indian meals, and too many mediocre dinners. Olif is what we were looking for. Olif features some of the best food from Wales and Spain, mostly as the name says, as small plates to share. From the Spanish side we had the hummus, Seville Gordal olives and Padrona peppers. Yum. On the Welsh side we tried mussels from the Menai Straits (wow - with a sauce from cream, onions, etc. - best mussels ever), Boozy fish (the best fish and chips on the trip), Angelsey eggs (potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, ... baked in small dish - amazing). For drinks they offer curu (beer), curu seider (cider), and spirits (several gins and whiskeys) all from Welsh producers, as well as wine and other items from other countries. Each night they offer a few desserts. They're also excellent (we tried two on different nights but I've forgotten the details). The first dinner was so good we made a dinner reservation for another evening. They had a well-curated set of Welsh music playing in the background which I very much enjoyed. Some of the music was Mim Twm Llai, Rheinallt H. Rowlands, Cerys Matthews, Gwenno Saunders, Huw M, Euros Childs and Gorky's Zygotic Mynki. I tracked some of it down and am listening to it as I write this review. I listen to music from many countries but until Olif had never heard any music from Wales. Good listening! Olif has a limited number of tables - make a reservation to avoid disappointment. On our first night there we were the last people for dinner, and we watched a number of other people turned away. While enjoying dinner we discovered they also are a B&B and have five rooms (all with an ensuite bathroom if I recall correctly). On, one more thing. They offer a smaller tapas menu until 4pm and change to the dinner menu after that. If you get there at quarter til you can enjoy items from both menus. Great food and great people! Of all the restaurants we tried in Wales over our two weeks, this was the most delightful of all. Highly recommended.
