Olif Guesthouse | Best places to stay in the Snowdonia National Park

"Expect a cosy, home-from-home vibe at this adults-only boutique guesthouse nestled into the heart of Betws-y-Coed’s main thoroughfare, with comfy contemporary rooms and great local cooking. The big draw is the home-cooked food, the Welsh tapas menu bringing a local-pride flavour to a series of Mediterranean small plates. A large selection of artisan Welsh gins adds to the appeal for a celebratory nightcap. Appealing to families and fans of nearby adventure sports activities, it represents a good-value base to explore Snowdonia. It’s also a peaceful overnight stop to enjoy Betws once the coach parties have trundled off late afternoon. " - David Atkinson

Unexpected beautiful surroundings, wed booked this as a stop on our way to pickup the youngest from Bangor University. The room we had (5) was really good. I had the large Welsh breakfast which was really good, one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in a while. My wife had the pancakes and she was really happy with those too. We'll most go back here on other occasions we're doing the uni run, and will explore Betws y coed more.

Olif is the perfect location for a stay . Close to all the shops , cafes and pubs . Also with excellent walks nearby. It also has its very own tapas restaurant which serves excellent food and has a very good choice of drinks. The rooms are all en-suite , 6 rooms in all which have showers and two have also a beautiful bath, with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel all provided - it smells gorgeous . The beds are very comfy and duvets and pillows you just sink into them. Lovely white fluffy towels provided . Plenty of storage for clothes, hairdryer and bathrobes also provided . Mounted tv,s and dab radios in each room . Coffee machine , tea making facilities, also biscuit treat provided. A cute small smeg fridge with a mini bar and snacks at an extra cost - very nice touch to the rooms . Rooms at the front of the guest house overlook the river , at the back a lovely forest view . Lastly breakfast in with the cost , you have a choice of muffins, cereal , fruit , yogurt , various hot choices - Welsh breakfast - excellent, local produce, fruit juice , tea or coffee . Sets you up perfectly for the day ahead . The staff are all friendly and welcoming, always willing to give you advise on your stay , places to visit etc , nothing is too much trouble at all. An absolute gem in the middle of the village 5 star service all round 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lovely place to stay, clean and warm room, staff attentive. Food was delicious lucky to get in didn’t book. The Cherry Bakewell Gin in the minibar was lush. Thanks for a lovely stay will definitely be back. Perfect location to explore near by shops 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. If you need outer wear loads of shops near by and local shop near by.

I haven't actually visited the hotel yet. On 29/12 I tried to book a two night stay using a voucher for one of the nights. I got into contact with Mari who said I would receive confirmation of my booking within the hour. I did not and still have not received confirmation. I have made several attempts to contact the hotel but have had no success. This is via the website messaging service, Instagram and a text to a mobile number I was given. Still no response.

We stayed here for a couple of nights mid week. Highly reccommend the accommodation. The rooms are stylish with high end touches throughout. Perfect location, friendly team and excellent breakfast both mornings. Unfortunately our trip was when the restaurant was closed Mon/ Tues - but they very kindly made us a sharing board with meats, pickles and hummus which was very tasty - will definitely be back to try the restaurant on our next trip to Betws - y - Coed.

We had an absolute fabulous time at Olif this weekend. The room was excellent and had everything we needed. We ate at the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious! We both agreed it was some of the best food we have eaten!! The breakfast was also superb!! The staff were fantastic, genuinely friendly and just so lovely. We will definitely be coming back again. Thanks for everything x

Ate here for dinner after hiking all day. Unfortunately they can’t serve food outside, but it’s worth it to go inside for dinner. All the tapas dishes were great, we ate them as soon as they came out, so the only picture I got was the dessert! The spicy bean stew and chorizo were our favorites but everything we had was delicious. Didn’t get a cheeseboard… but saw a few go by and wished we had another chance to come back.

Excellent stay midweek for 2 adults. Room was comfortable with good tea and coffee facilities as well as a mini fridge stocked with nibbles and cold drinks. The evening food was excellent and the service friendly. The reason for 4 star location is only because there is no onsite parking but this was not a big issue.

Yelp
Superb tapas, great drinks menu, excellent service. Locally and responsibly sourced products, most dishes have a Welsh influence, great flavours and good selection. They also do burgers and some other dishes if you don't like tapas. Thanks!

Yelp
We came to Wales for a couple of weeks, hoping to find some great Welsh food. Until we found Olif, we'd had British pub food, some great Indian meals, and too many mediocre dinners. Olif is what we were looking for. Olif features some of the best food from Wales and Spain, mostly as the name says, as small plates to share. From the Spanish side we had the hummus, Seville Gordal olives and Padrona peppers. Yum. On the Welsh side we tried mussels from the Menai Straits (wow - with a sauce from cream, onions, etc. - best mussels ever), Boozy fish (the best fish and chips on the trip), Angelsey eggs (potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, ... baked in small dish - amazing). For drinks they offer curu (beer), curu seider (cider), and spirits (several gins and whiskeys) all from Welsh producers, as well as wine and other items from other countries. Each night they offer a few desserts. They're also excellent (we tried two on different nights but I've forgotten the details). The first dinner was so good we made a dinner reservation for another evening. They had a well-curated set of Welsh music playing in the background which I very much enjoyed. Some of the music was Mim Twm Llai, Rheinallt H. Rowlands, Cerys Matthews, Gwenno Saunders, Huw M, Euros Childs and Gorky's Zygotic Mynki. I tracked some of it down and am listening to it as I write this review. I listen to music from many countries but until Olif had never heard any music from Wales. Good listening! Olif has a limited number of tables - make a reservation to avoid disappointment. On our first night there we were the last people for dinner, and we watched a number of other people turned away. While enjoying dinner we discovered they also are a B&B and have five rooms (all with an ensuite bathroom if I recall correctly). On, one more thing. They offer a smaller tapas menu until 4pm and change to the dinner menu after that. If you get there at quarter til you can enjoy items from both menus. Great food and great people! Of all the restaurants we tried in Wales over our two weeks, this was the most delightful of all. Highly recommended.
