Pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of each dishes! The sea food ingredients were especially spot on - fresh and full of flavors. The service was also very good. Highly recommend their cocktails as well.

Food and drinks are excellent. Staff are great. I ordered the : 1. JAMÓN SERRANO POR REDONDO IGLESIAS, 2. CROQUETAS DE JAMÓN (Serrano ham croquettes), 3. SETAS (Mushrooms, rosemary, shallots & garlic), 4 GAMBAS A LA PLANCHA (Grilled shrimp with salsa Verde) To drink I got the: 1. SLOW RIDE (Blanco tequila, pacharán sierra de orduña, lime, jalapeño, ginger beer) 2. ESPRESSO MARTINI (Tito’s Vodka, St. George Coffee Liquor, Licor 43, Sherry, Espresso) 3. ROSEMARY PORRON (A Refreshing Spanish Tradition, made with White Garnacha and fresh Rosemary To Share) For Dessert I had the MANCHEGO Y MEMBRILLO (Ewe's Milk Cheese & Quince) Ps. Forgot to take pictures of dessert! Everything fulfilled my expectations and more.. Nice experience and ambient. Overall, excellent attentive staff. Great place for dates as well for family reunions!!

Google
A delightful Harlem tapas restaurant located at Columbia's Jerome L Greene science center. Wonderful airy location the clean modern decoration. Good selection of cocktail to choose from. Classic spanosh tapas dishes for sharing, though some presentation's a bit much and expensive too.

Amazing food! Every dish was so good and service was on point and very friendly and attentive. There was a jazz trio playing that was perfect for the space. Great cocktails! Have to come back to eat through the menu.

I walk by this place often and decided to give it a try in a Thursday evening. I ordered a variety of dishes, dessert and cocktails. All items exceeded my expectations. The pear and cardamom mezcal cocktail was Amazing. I will return.

Yelp
On a walk to the Hudson Riverfront discovered places to eat on the ground floor of Columbia University's Greene Science Center building including the new Universal Taco, so decided to check it out. In the same space as Manhattanville Market but separated by a high partition, Universal Taco has booth and table seating, as well as a bar. It's a nice open windowed space with an urban view including the adjacent elevated portion of the 1 line. Besides Happy Hour cocktails and evening special appetizers, Universal Taco offers traditional tacos on house made corn tortillas and fusion tacos on house made flour tortillas. Each taco comes in a set of two. While they also offer table service, I decided to experiment with their Moo Shu Vegetables Tacos and a Maduros side to-go. The tasty, modest-sized Moo Shu Vegetable tacos included egg, prepared with a Chinese hoisin sauce in definitely homemade tortilla. They were accompanied by 2 unnecessary side sauces, which didn't really need to be applied given the already flavorful filling - that is, I'd prefer to have a 3rd taco instead given the price. The Maduros were sweet and tender covered in crema and cotija cheese. As I understand, Universal Taco is open until 9:30, which makes it a nice setting also for evening cocktails and light eats when in the neighborhood - although this is out of the way unless you are at Columbia or living immediately next door. (Unsure if there are any student discounts.)

Yelp
Had a small tasting of cheeses that came with quince jam(Mahon Curado and Idiazabal), crusty soft bread with pure tangy EVOO, and a pear cardamom mezcal cocktail that was so juicy and balanced; They have a full dinner menu and many options for tapas and drink; Food is fresh and flavorful, great atmosphere, LIVE music, and service, a great place to come whether you're apart of the building community, on a date, or with family and friends.

Yelp
Fantastic! I got the vegetable socarrat, which has incredible flavor from the seasoned rice and the grilled vegetables, plus the crispy texture from the rice. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant is modern and well-lit since it is inside a larger complex managed by Columbia. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I had hoped for this to be a good restaurant but yet again, another restaurant that misses the point of what tapas is all about. The cod croquetas were so salty! The ham croquetas didn't have the correct consistency. The Pa amb tomaquet was bathed in grated tomato pulp, not the right way to serve it. The pimientos del padrón were too big and not cooked properly. I won't be back.

Yelp
Groovy jazz met us there. Our small plates came every 10-15 minutes giving us a chance to enjoy each. Great wine made this a lovely way to start the evening.

Yelp
Really love this space! Tho it is tucked into Colombia's Harlem campus, so the aesthetic may not be the most appealing, the food and wine more than make up for it. I have been several times and have tried different dishes each time and everything has been great IMO. The service is more than great and it totally deserves more patronage. Take a chance and check it out--for drinks and tapas, at least.

Yelp
The flavors of tapas dishes were outstanding. Highlights included the sweet potato, the pan con tomate and the cheeses (not pictured). We also got the seafood rice for 2. There was a generous amount of seafood on the rice and it was well cooked, however the rice was incredibly salty, and for me was not edible. One minus, I reserved this spot for my partner's birthday, and asked for a candle to come out with dessert in the reservation notes, over the phone when I confirmed the reservation, and again in person when I arrived. They unfortunately forgot to do this, and actually brought the dessert out while we were still eating. The manager offered an additional dessert to take home, which was nice but not necessary as I just wanted to have a bit of a surprise and nice end to the meal for my partner. The end of meal and night felt rushed and a little disappointing, which is a shame because the start of the meal was fabulous.

Yelp
Beautiful evening! Rocky took spectacular care of our party - fabulous wine recommendation - so we asked for him to select the tapas for us for the evening. Perfect pace of items - the octopus was hands down my favorite - but every item was enjoyed, from the olives to the churros! Simple and elegant food and drink presentation. Lovely atmosphere with expansive windows and high ceilings. Simple decor is perfect for the space. Will come back for the food and the friendly welcome. Worth the trip to West Harlem if you're not a local.

Yelp
Tonight was my third time at Oliva Tapas. Lovely space tucked away in Columbia's Manhattanville campus. Entrance is on 130th Street but the space faces Broadway, just a few blocks north of the #1 to 125th Street. Huge windows that let in a lot of light. Comfortable seating in a pretty wide open, area. You are warmly greeted from the moment you walk in. A fairly expansive menu of traditional tapas fare. I have ordered the meatballs each time and they are delicious. Happy Hour is from 4:30-7 and they have live music on Thursdays and Fridays. I was told by their amazing manager, Sabrina, that folks may think that it is a private space or that you must be a student/faculty/staff at Columbia to walk in. Not true! The second time I visited I came with 15 friends for an after-work happy hour and Sabrina was incredibly accommodating. Great service, each time, and our server was gracious enough to end our evening with a complimentary glass of sherry. What a lovely night. This will become my go-to for sure!

Yelp
We always have a great time here. The drinks and food are delicious, and they are adding new items every time we go. Rocky the host is so welcoming and gracious, and the whole staff ensures we are well taken care of. There's a jazz ensemble every Friday that adds to the already inviting ambience.

Fredrick S.

Yelp
Varied Tapas, meats, seafood paella and custom drinks are my favorites at this authentic Spanish restaurant just north of 125th and Broadway subway (#1) stop. Ambiance and service and live music are excellent. Rocky, the manager, is very friendly and interested in your enjoying the experience.

Yelp
What a surprising, wonderful experience this turned out to be. In a non-traditional restaurant setting, the space is bright and cheery and not too loud. The welcoming and friendly staff (especially GM Rocky) treat you like well loved family. The food was wonderfully prepared and yummy as all heck, and I feel silly for saying this, but the hamburger with chorizo and other Spanish flavors was probably one of the best I have ever had. Can't wait to go back with a large group and get a large paella pan and ALL the small plates.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place to dine in Harlem! From the moment we walked in, it was such an amazing experience. We were greeted and seat promptly. The seating was well spaced, and the decor is upscale and sophisticated. The chef came to greet us and to ensure we're having a great time. The waiters were attentive but not intrusive. And the FOOD! Soooo good. They have a $9 happy hour menu from 5pm - 6:30pm on drinks & food as well. Such a good time out. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Excellent food and outstanding service. Went for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the live music. The trio with a singer was very good. I highly recommend.

Yelp
My husband & I came here for dinner to start his birthday weekend. What a pleasant surprise! Had an assortment of tapas & a bottle of cava. All were wonderful! Service was pleasant & attentive. We will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Went there for happy hr to see my friend studying at the Campus nearby. Food and drinks were so good even though we were so full, we didn't want yo leave!

Yelp
My wife and I had such a wonderful time at Oliva were we had great tapas and wine and outstanding service. Everyone was helpful and friendly, especially Anna, our server and Rocky the manager. I am quite knowledgeable in wines and I must say that the wine list is unique and varied. Rocky knows them all and was very helpful in suggesting enjoyable selections. We enjoyed the Gambas al Ajillo, Scallops Moriscos and Tuna Crudo. I also liked the anchovies (although my wife is not a fan of that fish) - goes well with Palo Cortado. Next time we will try other dishes from the inviting menu. We will definitely be back, and that time will bring our friends, to enjoy a good taste of Spain at Oliva.

Jerem B.

Yelp
Mushrooms are insane. Buy them. Also an incredible array of dishes. A gem in Harlem with tons of space!! Do it!

Stanford S.

Yelp
By far the best restaurant in Morningside Heights/West Harlem. I've eaten my way through Spain and Olivia is comparable. Great food, always fresh, enticingly presented. In the new Columbia campus very near to the W 125 stop of the 1 train. The squid, scallops, chicken, marinated mushrooms and the mixed seafood for 2 over rice are all wonderful.

Yelp
First time here - I was quite surprised how elegant the presentation of the dishes were. Just yesterday we ate at ABCV downtown (a Jean-Georges restaurant). The flavors were just as creative and delicious for 1/2 the price. The bar staff was playing with cocktail concoctions and offered us one which was awesome (no name yet). We stopped here on the way home and remembered a featured report on NBC Live ---- https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/the-scene/new-york-live/ill-take-manhattanville/3388025/ --- I thought it might be a fluff piece but it wasn't. I hope more people give this place a try because all of the food markets have unique food options to offer.

Yelp
Tonight will be our 4th visit to this terrific unique restaurant serving a variety of small plates of hot and cold Spanish Tapas delicacies. Each time the food, service and atmosphere were 5 stars. Located in the new Columbia University campus Science Center at West 130th and Broadway (entrance on 130th). I'm writing this now because I just realized my past reviews we're on Nextdoor.com and not Yelp...my goof!! We've taken friends and all were very happy. So go yourselves or take friends for a great eating experience. The owner, Franklin, is a fountain of food knowledge and, if not too busy, will probably be happy to speak with you. Disfrutar de!!

Manny C.

Yelp
Amazing place even more amazing customer service. I got a pineapple daiquiri and man was it strong and flavorful. Not to mention the amazing election or cheese. All around amazing experience and you can't forget the churros. Amazing end to a great dining experience.

Yelp
just tried this place for the first time. We live in northern NJ and it is so quick and easy to get to. The food was delicious. We ordered about 8 dishes and each was better than the last. We were too full to order the soccarat but hope to next time. Service was very attentive and the space is airy and bright. Highly recommend!
