Chicago’s Upcoming Restaurants and Bars to Know, Fall/Winter 2022 - Eater Chicago

"The first city location from Richmond, Illinois-based bar Olive Black Martini and Wine Lounge — Olive Black Chicago — is set to take over the former home of neighborhood watering hole Land of Lincoln at 3032 N. Lincoln Avenue, according to What Now Chicago. Owner Wendy Prinn tells reporters that she had initially hoped to open the new outpost at the end of October, but she’s now facing delays as she waits for city officials to approve the business's liquor license." - Naomi Waxman

Stumbled upon Olive Black Chicago last weekend, and it was a delightful surprise. The pomegranate martini was a standout—smooth with just the right kick. We also tried the BBQ chicken flatbread, which was flavorful and satisfying. The ambiance is cozy, making it a great spot to unwind. Spent around $40 for two drinks and the flatbread, which felt reasonable for the quality. Only reason it's not a full 5 stars is that the service was a tad slow, but overall, a solid spot worth revisiting.

We had a great time talking with Wendy and tasting wonderful cocktails. The atmosphere is very approachable, not at all stuffy. Wendy has some original drinks worth trying and is willing to make your suggestion.

We had such an amazing time here talking about the neighborhood from the owner. Their dirty martinis (with blue cheese olives) are so so good and we also did a few whiskey drinks. I'd recommend the Jepsons Root Beer Float and the whiskey coke drink. Can't wait to be back

I truly have never had such a bad mocktail. It should not be hard to make it taste good since it is usually just juice and sparkling water etc but the margarita tasted like a mixture of chemicals and coat $13.50. The service was also shockingly slow despite the bar being very empty. I didn’t even drink it and went to another place nearby and got a delicious mocktail for $8. Skip this one if you don’t drink alcohol.

Just hit up Olive Black in Lakeview and had a killer night. Grabbed two “James Bond” martinis and a mango jalapeño one, then shared the spinach artichoke dip and BBQ chicken flatbread—so damn good. Vibe’s cozy, bartenders legit know their stuff, and the place is just real Chicago. Will def be back for more. Cheers! 🥂

Popped in on a whim recently and so glad we did! Olive Black is a new bar/lounge that opened about a month ago, with a great menu of 20+ martinis, craft cocktails and draft list featuring Chicagoland brews. Everything we tried was delicious, and the staff is super friendly! Great addition to the area.

Wendy and Dan (owners) are just the best! They are kind owners, hardworking and attentive, and care about their customers. They have a nice selection of food, but what's really impressive is their massive selection of martinis (including fruity and dessert martinis, so they're not just the kind with olives that you typically think of). They also have an entire page of non-alcoholic drinks, plus barstools, high tops, and couches, plus a large selection of games. They host weekly trivia and often have a fun "Guiness World Records" channel on tv. Olive Black donates tons of food to the community, hosts meals for those in need on holidays, and more. They are a great business, and I love supporting them! Always a great time there.

Yelp
This is a fabulous find. Amazing creative quality cocktails. So many to try. I can't remember all the names but we enjoyed the mango jalapeño Margarita, some strawberry and peach creations, and chocolate martini. Snacks are pretty good - appreciate having some food options, definitely allows you to enjoy more cocktails!

Yelp
Cool new bar/lounge on Lincoln in West Lakeview. The martinis are delicious! Specifically, I tried both the mango/jalapeño and the pomegranate and loved them both. Staff is super friendly as well. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing martinis! My Pomegranate martini was knock my sock off good!!! I asked for lite cheese on my Tomato Spinach & Garlic flatbread and it was sooo good. Can't wait to return! This is a new bar- clean with a fun vibe in LakeView area. My husband loves all the local beers!

Yelp
Tried it as it popped up in a community Facebook group. It's a Monday, so I wasn't expecting it to be crowded but certainly not empty. The ambiance is strange - a martini bar but divey if I had to say so. Martinis are served in stemless glasses. The man working at the bar made them either at the back bar or under the counter. Martinis should be an art, or so my experience reflects. They were barely shaken. The martinis themselves were on the verge of watered down. The only thing I can take away as being thankful for was the fact that they were half priced on a Monday night. Unfortunately, this won't be on my list of places to return to.

Yelp
Great neighborhood place to get a cocktail especially martinis and they have my go-to Vesper martini on their menu. My wife liked their wine selection also.

Yelp
Olive Black has a swanky inviting energy! The staff/owners are so kind. Wendy was super helpful when I was unsure of what kind of drink I would like to order. The spinach artichoke dip is by far my favorite! The crème brûlée is a nice choice if you happen to have an evening sweet tooth like myself...

Yelp
Wendy makes the absolute best Mango Jalapeño martini!! The cocktails are the best in the neighborhood. The flatbreads are so good too. It's dinner and drinks and it's right here in Lakeview. Delicious!
