Olive Garden Boycotted Over Trump Donations the Company Didn’t Make | Eater

"A social-media–driven boycott targeted this national casual‑dining chain after tweets claimed it was a major contributor to Trump’s reelection, but the chain’s social media manager denied those assertions. Some critics pointed at the parent company (which owns other steakhouse brands), yet OpenSecrets reports the company itself has not made direct candidate donations and its political giving is mixed: in 2018 it gave $15,000 to Rick Scott and $60,000 to GOPAC, while in 2016 it donated substantially to Hillary Clinton and DNC Services Corp. The original boycott tweet was later deleted, and the episode left many diners treating whether to continue eating there — and enjoying its signature breadsticks — as a personal decision." - Jaya Saxena

We have always loved coming here, but the last visit was amazing! Annie took amazing care of us and was great to chat with when she brought us our food/ refills, etc. We went out to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday and we don't get many date nights so we really appreciate them when we do get out! The food was amazing and so was the service! We definitely plan on coming back for more!

Google
Definitely wasn't a pleasant smell when walking in. Not sure if there was an issue with the bathrooms but had sewage smell. Didn't notice as much from the dining area. Service was ok. Salad lacked dressing and the bread sticks seemed a bit old but the main courses were fine.

Wow, I was visiting from Dallas,TX. My granddaughter was in TX Children while she was being attended by our family. We decided to eat at Olive Garden.. Which was a big mistake. When they brought us to our first table, the area was dirty and had food on the floor. we should have left then, but we decided to stay, and it went downhill from there. When I received my silverware, it was filthy with dried food, as u can see in the pic. I showed the server, and she said, "You know young people don't care about things like this. She never apologized, although it wasn't her fault' but it felt like the blame game. That's what customers dont care to hear. So it made it a downside for us. we took the rest of our food and left. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Unsatisfied customer, Mardianne

Google
Edgar was my server, he was polite, friendly, and gave me great service. I got the four-cheese manicotti and it was amazing. I was dining by myself and sometimes (at other places) I feel like less of a priority but never felt that was at this restaurant ever. Wonderful experience as always.

Google
I love the variety of Gluten Free meals they offer! The salad dressing they use has no gluten containing ingredients 👍🏽 They always do a good job when preparing it for zero cross contamination, I have never had a bad experience here plus the staff is always friendly.

Google
I went in for dinner. I had meatballs, a salad, bread sticks, and a Pinot Gino. Fantastic waiter (Bryan) and an awesome prepared food!

My Name Is Not Important

Google
The food is always what you expect here. The service was friendly but a little slow. The server just had too many tables to wait on and she was doing it all herself without any help. I enjoyed her professionalism and friendliness though.

Google
Shoutout to our amazing waiter, Jose! He was so kind, attentive, and quick. Truly going above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful dining experience. He made our night extra enjoyable, and we couldn’t have asked for better service!

Yelp
This place has really gone down in quality over the years. They no longer celebrate birthdays they don't sing or bring you anything. Not for my kid at least. Very disappointing. Instead of the waitresses being straight up they're moody. So if the food is going to take long and we ask why one girl told us "I don't know i'm not the chef". All she had to say was that they had new chefs training. When I told another girl that it was my daughter's birthday she could've told us we don't celebrate birthdays anymore. Instead of not doing anything and ignoring her

Yelp
I don't frequent chain restaurants but I have always loved Olive Garden, especially the endless breadsticks. Well I can no longer have those but I can have my second fave thing there zuppa toscana which is gluten free! This is my nieces favorite restaurant and I took her here last time I visited as well. Well I also didn't know they offer some Gf menu items as well as a gluten free rotini pasta which I ordered (with butter please) and add grilled shrimp. My meal came out with a TON of shrimp and a hefty plate in general. It was a little dry I couldn't really taste any butter but otherwise perfectly satisfying. My sister got shrimp scampi and enjoyed hers and my niece also got shrimp and pasta haha. I wish I knew our server's name she was so great and friendly. I also had a moscato which was light and delicious. I definitely had enough to take home for a midnight snack.

Yelp
I used to love Olive Garden, but I'm really disappointed after our recent visit. Tablets were already on the table, and the server handed them to my kids without asking. There was no heads-up that the games cost $2.99. As a parent of three, I was stuck between letting my kids stare at a screen all dinner or upsetting them by taking it away. Dining out with kids is hard enough without surprise screen time and hidden fees. What should've been a nice family meal turned into a stressful experience. I hope Olive Garden rethinks this approach--this used to feel like a family-friendly restaurant, but now it feels more like an upsell trap.

Colton J.

Yelp
Really slow service we saw our server a total of 3 times, also took 15 minutes before we were greeted. for food I had Chicken Alfredo and it was bland.

Brooklyn M.

Yelp
From an Italian, it was very good. It wasn't authentic, but it was good. Breadsticks were stale, but other than that it was oui oui .

Yelp
With three of us at the table, everyone came away happy with the delicious choices and quick service -- always with a smile -- and drinks refreshed without reminders. Clean and neat. All at reasonable prices. Just can't be beat.
google avatar

Bailey K.

Yelp
Vince made the experience, been to alot of olive gardens and I was really happy with him helping us out today.

Yelp
This is the worst Olive Garden I have ever been to in my entire life. Please avoid this location at all cost. Went to wash my hands and the bathroom had stuff all over the floor and toilet paper and paper towels and an over flowing toilet. I told the staff and they were rude to me about it... like it was my fault somehow???? Then didn't do anything about it! The food was nasty! With so many good options in this area please avoid this one. Cleanliness 0/10. Staff 0/10. Good 0/10.

Alec F.

Yelp
We were sat in an empty section that was also dirty. Didn't get greeted for 10 minutes at least. Not sure the name of our server but once our food was at the table he was no where to be found. Bad service, okay it happens. But the food was horrible. We didn't even eat the steak pasta and the shrimp Alfredo tasted like one of the microwave dinners. We used the ziosk to order dessert and it never came. Ended up having to go up to the host to ask if she would just pack it up to go. Overall very disappointed with the quality of food and service we received.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with dining at Olive Garden! The breadsticks are always amazing and the soup is delicious along with the pasta! Only reason why I gave 4 stars is because one or two of my breadsticks were hard as a rock (never had that issue before). Service was great and I really like the restaurant for being family friendly. Portion sizes are great! I was able to share a meal and we still left with leftovers!
google avatar

Yelp
It's been years since we visited Olive Garden! The food was similar (menu has changed a bit). We received superb service was 5/5 from Shaylee M. Value and taste was 4/5 compared to traditional Italian restaurants. Overall, decent food and love the unlimited soup with their entrees!

Yelp
This location is great. I've dined at this location for over 20 years. Actually went to dinner here on my prom night many moons ago. The restaurant itself is clean. Parking is sufficient and well lit. Food is consistent as far as flavor and menu options. My go to dishes are chicken parmigiana and the chicken & gnocchi soup. But let's be honest, can anyone resist more than one breadstick? They are so good! Dessert offerings are delicious as well. Recently tried the black tie mousse cake. It was decadent. Definitely not sharing any of it. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, whether dining in, or picking up to go. Their to go orders are super quick and easy. They tell you exactly when your order will be ready, so there is no guessing. Plenty of convenient curbside parking as well. I love Olive Garden, and I love this location.

Yelp
For my birthday last night my wife took me to one of my favorite restaurants,,, the Olive Garden in Spring Texas. after not being there for over a year... we were disappointed, shocked angry. I remember when this restaurant had great food, class, charm and decent help. Unfortunate for us, last night was terrible. We received our orders for what was passed as Parmesan Chicken. It was just 2 TINY and I mean TINY portions of heavily salted 1/4" thick chicken parts. Not only did they give us tiny portions. But Parmesan chicken is typically covered in red sauce, and there was none on our plates. Just the breaded tiny chicken part with a tiny amount of cheese. For what we paid, we could have gotten more chicken from McDonald's The waiter was slightly arrogant and would disappear for long periods. While we sat there, a single woman who sat behind us got up and left without paying!! She did leave a $1.00 bill on the table though. NEVER again we will visit that location... this is just greed and generally open theft of our money .. I hope they CLOSE and SOON!

Yelp
I was there for a late lunch with some friends a little over a month ago. We were served by Julia. She was awesome. I got the endless soup and salad. It was soooo good. I don't know why the reviews are so bad here. Honestly, the service seemed fine to us. We were satisfied but I would say it would be hard to mess up the soup and salad. I love all the soups here and the salad and breadsticks are classic!

Yelp
It was a good experience! There was no wait, which was nice, and even during a busy time the restaurant was kept clean and tidy. The food came out quick and hot. It remind consistent with the Olive Garden brand. I would not recommend the salmon though as it was a bit dry. Everything else we ordered was delicious though. Our server was nice, but slow on refills of water or bread. However, her tables seemed to bounce around. All in all it was very good!

Yelp
We LOVE food!!!! My friend is getting it catered to her birthday party today. The employees are efficient and kind to all customers!!!

Yelp
Best Waitress Ever: KRISTIN N. Just had the most wonderful dining experience here at Olive Garden! Brought my girlfriend here for her Birthday lunch and Kristin made sure everything was awesome, from the yummy salads to the delightful dessert that she graciously surprised us with! We spent a wonderful few hours being taken care of by Kristin and we will never forget her and the special birthday at Olive Garden. PS: Kristin should be training other waitstaff- she knows how to treat her guests

Jean G.

Yelp
Grand parkway location, I sat down at a table for 15 minutes, no one greeted me. Servers walked by me several times. I guess I was not welcomed. My family and I spend a lot of money at Olive Garden, It will not happen again. Thanks.

Yelp
Decided to try this oldie but goodie, in a somber, dreary evening. I ordered on the online app the classic chicken Alfredo -good idea right ??? By the time I got my order home, order was like warm ( ok no biggie) decided to warm up my Alfredo - that's when things went downhill. There was not enough sauce to coat the noodles- noodles were congealed like on big FRUIT cake!!! Not sure it I would order again- however the bread sticks were a hit!

Judy S.

Yelp
Soup was fair. I had bottom of the barrel salad. Server, JB, disappeared and had to ask someone else to check on our entree after waiting a long time for it. Overall not a good lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Just finished dinner and everything was perfect! Food was hot, tasty, and as ordered. Dessert was yummy and decadent, we had the chocolate layered cake confection! Highly recommend! Best part though... Was by far our waiter!! His name was Matty and he was a welcome breath of fresh air, let me tell you why! Matty was attentive, without hovering. He was fun, energetic and cheerful....and not in an annoying way either...know what I mean? He greeted us warmly, with a beautiful and sincere smile. So nice to see, especially these days and we had a toddler with us....yikes! :) He remembered I had unsweetened tea, this is a big deal here in the south, as I'm part of the 1% that doesn't drink sweet tea....har, har, har, har. Plus, as a diabetic, this detail is important to me, for my health, not just a preference. Anyway, wanted to give Matty a shout out! Job well done! Thank you for your effort and kind demeanor, it didn't go unnoticed....;). Keep up the great work! Thank you!!

Yelp
Basic but consistent Italian food. The service was great considering it was busy. Have a large family to feed on a budget? This restaurant is for you. Unlimited salad and bread, both of which were fresh. If you do not want to break the bank at one if those fancy Italian place where the waiter has an Italian accent, come here. Great food at a great price.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
The service and the food were excellent! Appetizers and entrees came out hot, fresh, and well-cooked. The dining area was spacious and calm, with low classical music playing and low lighting while we waited for our food, which did not take very long to be brought to our table. Family-friendly is a plus!

Yelp
Our 1st time eating here and was pleasantly surprised. SERVICE: We were greeted warmly as we enter the restaurant. Our waitress was Erin. Her timing was impeccable & never forget what we need. She's the BEST waitress we ever had. FOOD: Shrimp Alfredo - Love it! Chicken & Gnocchi - A creamy soup - Very good Create your own pasta - tasted bad - leave the cooking to the professionals LOCATION: Olive Garden Italian Restaurant is conveniently located off of the I-45 south between Woodlands Parkway & Rayford RD. Plenty of parking!!!

Mario O.

Yelp
Bad receptionist, they dont take your call and blame you for them not doing their job

Yelp
Christina the waitress is absolutely awesome! This is how ALL waiters should be! She's very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to all her guests. We will definitely go back to see her!
google avatar

Meyissa L.

Yelp
Deavon was a very attentive waitress w/ perfect timing. The food was perfect, as always. I had the child's choose your own noodles, sauce, & meat (spaghetti w/ Alfredo, & shrimp) w/ gnocchi soup. I also had the house moscato. He had fettuccini Alfredo & salad w/ lemonade.

Yelp
Was so looking forward to dining at Olive Garden. This was my first time to dine in since the Covid pandemic. My parents and I arrived at 3:00pm. We were quickly seated because the restaurant wasn't busy. But my has the service diminished!!! No longer does the sever ask do you want cheese grated on your salad or some freshly ground pepper...The salad wasn't as I remembered; small amount, very little dressing and no peppercini! The breadsticks weren't warm and tasted at bit stale. Even though we placed our order immediately, it took almost 45 minutes to receive the chicken parmigiana, shrimp scampi and endless soups/salad. There seemed to be plenty of waitstaff and the manager her made the rounds visiting with diners. In fact, I asked her about the lack of freshly grated cheese and pepper thinking that perhaps it was a policy because of Covid. It wasn't... just poor service by our waitress.. When our entrees finally arrived, so did the elusive cheese grater. Yeah! By this time though, my mom had enough. She was so disappointed with the service that even the very delicious food wasn't enough to brighten her mood. Needless to say, I won't be giving her any more Olive Garden Gift Cards. From now on, Pappasito it is!

Yelp
There is a server she's Hispanic with a ponytail (black curly hair and falsies) that was very rude to her customer because of that I won't be returning.

Yelp
Food was spectacular as always. Lauren was a sweet waitress . My friend had a piece of plastic in his chicken gnocchi soup, and still had to pay for it which was a bit disappointing. Overall I was satisfied

Yelp
Worst attitude ever!!! My husband and I went in to eat and saw the bar top was empty, so we started heading towards the bar top. The two VERY RUDE hostess told us the bar was entirely too busy to take on two more guest. There was no one at the bar top, and only two tables in the lounge, so we were pretty confused and asked "What"? They both said the bar is just waaaay too busy at the moment. I've never been told I could not sit in an open section with only two tables occupied before. The employees at this location are always rude, slow, inattentive, and lazy. I've never left a restaurant mad before i could ever make it to a table. I suggest getting food from a gas station before wasting your money at this location. The food may be good, but it isn't worth the sour attitude of the host staff.

Yelp
Had the unlimited soup and salad. It was good as usual. Love the Zappa Toscana. Came with three friends and we all had the same thing. Denise was our server and she was great. She kept the soup and salads coming as well as little extras like dried tomatoes and extra olives. Yummy and affordable lunch. FYI... I got the picture offline because I forgot to take while there
google avatar

Rafael S.

Yelp
Good service and good flavor of our plates we spent a good time, a fresh bread that keep on mind no much to wait for the principal plate.ejejejej

Yelp
Trying to get finished with these dang gift cards my husband always gets. I am a dining partner because there is nothing I think is that great. I had an appetizer and dessert.. In Zucchini Parmesan Crusted, I found a piece of monofilament...At least it wasn't a hair. We shared a piece of their limited time only, Caramel Cake.. It was okay, but nothing over the top. As much as I dislike saying it over and over, I am just not a fan..

Mike C.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was.....see the attached pictures. Chicken Scampi with a side of food poison. Straight up raw and cold in the middle. I told the server and she said she told management, but no manager was anywhere to be seen.
google avatar

NJ J.

Yelp
Olive Garden is a reasonably priced restaurant with excellent food, service, and ambiance. When you consider the endless soup or salad and breadsticks with the entrees, it's a perfect match. I recommend it highly
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
Had a great lunch today and hadn't been in Olive Garden for years. The tiramisu called to me as I was driving to my favorite Japanese restaurant. The waitress Sabrina recommended the Shrimp Scampi with angel hair pasta and a creamy garlic sauce. It had a veggie that I can't eat. So we got it removed and it was so delicious I'll order it most of the time from now on. I'm not big on red sauce, so this was the best thing l have had other than the usual white sauce. Sabrina is a very pleasant lady. Ask for her.
google avatar

Jennifer I.

Yelp
Horrible, shrimp doesn't look cooked and some still had their vein....tv dinners would have been better and I would have saved $70
google avatar

Kat C.

Yelp
Our service from the waiter was alright. But my mom loves the toscana soup. And she was craving, so we went to this location instead of our usual. The 1st bowl of soup, was nothing but the broth. So I asked the waiter for another bowl but if he could make sure there was meat and potato this time. We got broth with nothing but potato. When youre craving, this will just ruin your dinner.
google avatar

Valaurie B.

Yelp
Olive Garden is amazing. We went on a Saturday night so very busy, but we got seated immediately. That was a plus. Everything was well, including the food and salad.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Soup is excellent as always. I'm in love with their Zuppa Toscana - potatoes, sausage, kale in creamy base. Warms the soul on a rainy day! Tried the herb salmon on the new lighter fare menu. Over cooked and a bit dry - disappointing. Maybe need to special request medium rare to get it cooked properly; drenched in more bitter than I typically like but maybe that's to help moisten it. Will probably stick with Eggplant Parmesan next time; that's always good here
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
I'm tired of restaurants putting these stupid to go parking only signs in front of there locations. Some people still park in them anyway so quit waisting your money! Your sit down guest are the ones you should cater to not the to go people.

Yelp
I've lived in Conroe for most of my life so I've gone to this Olive Garden many times until the location further north on I35 was built. I went here once last week for a little dessert and coffee while in town. I want to make it clear, service was very friendly and they greeted me coming in the door. What I wanted to make note of was the terrible smell in the building. The front tiled area smelled like an old gas station bathroom, and the carpeted area smelled almost like wet dog. Was the building flooded in recent years? I've never experience these odors before at this location nor at any other location. My mother and I noticed the odor immediately after walking in and we shared a look. Please consider renovating the floors, and possibly the whole building in this location. I also want to note that an employee, who was really friendly, bagged up my to-go box on a rolling tray with dirty dishes on it. They pulled the plastic to-go bag up from under the dirty salad dishes and there was stickiness from someone else's meal on my bag because of it. I think they were pretty great service otherwise so I just hope that maybe make it known that this probably isn't really sanitary. I'd rather just bag my own to-go if they are busy. 2 stars for friendly service and the dessert was great.
google avatar

Torrance B.

Yelp
I ordered to go chicken fettuccine alfredo. There was hardly any alfredo sauce on my pasta. I ordered an extra side of alfredo that I paid $3.50 for and it was only half way full. This is a complete rip off for no sauce on my pasta then I have to pay an outrageous $3.50 for a spoonful of sauce?! I asked for extra bread sticks and didn't get an extra and they did not include silverware, cheese, or mints to go. Terrible restaurant and charge you so much for so little. I'd rather go down to the mom and po down the road to get what I actually pay for.

Camille B.

Yelp
Definitely enjoyed the soup and the new ravioli carbonara dish our nice waitress recommended.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Came here with my wife on February 13th. Either the kitchen is slow and can't handle a full restaurant or the servers or too inept to handle a busy period because we were told the wait was 25 minutes. Just from looking through the windows, there were 15 open tables. 15!! Ridiculous.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Service was average. Table was filthy (germs). Chicken Marcella was delicious. I got a Sicilian Cheesecake slice, so disappointed! The desert picture showed fresh strawberries and a glaze, and the one delivered had frozen strawberries in a syrup!!

Yelp
Olive Garden in Shenandoah/The Woodlands; dinner; 3/10/20 Arrived at 6:15 PM. Greeted and seated promptly. Waitress arrived soon and I gave her my complete order, drink and food while she was there. I ordered the never ending pasta special. The salad was the WORST I have ever seen at Olive Garden. There were no more than 5-7 pieces of GREEN lettuce in the bowl. It was all white, with a huge white rib of iceberg on top of the bowl when it arrived. Why would you even serve something like that? I ate the few pieces of green lettuce I could find with 2 olives and a few croutons. The taste of the stuffed ziti with alfredo sauce was great. But there were only 15 ziti on the plate. This was not a refill, this was my original order. It made me think of a child's portion plate. My second round was stuffed shells with meat sauce. Again, very small portion of only 2 stuffed shells with meat sauce. Both of the shells were so tough I could hardly cut them with the knife. I fought with one until I could get it into bite size pieces and left the other alone. There were 3 bread sticks in my basket. Two were warm and fresh. The third was room temperature and hard/brittle. Again, my waitress was awesome and the TASTE of the ziti was great as well. Everything else makes me wonder if I will ever return.

Yelp
My husband and I come here on mondays after work and I do have to say this time we came in at 9:15 we both work in the food industry so I understand how frustrating that can be but we always make sure to tip beyond 25% Patricia and Christina are the absolute best servers there. When we came in around the same time last time Patricia was happy to serve us made sure our soup was hot and even gave us a container to go. This time I was highly disappointed to say the least. Our server Amy seemed like she was mad that we had come in and made us feel very uncomfortable. Our soup was lukewarm and barely had any of the potatoes it usually comes with. To top it all off my drink had shards of glass! I am pregnant and that is very very dangerous they should really take more precautions others would not let that fly by. The only reason I'm leaving a 3 star is because of Patricia and Christina.
