My wife and I first went to The Red Lobster next door but were highly discouraged by the outrageous prices. We did not want to spend $50-60 or more for lunch.
In the heat, we wandered across the short distance to the Olive Garden next door. I have not been to an OG for around a decade since there are none close to my home, but I used to love their food and salad.
When I explained to the Hostess that I was gluten sensitive, after she seated us, she found the Gluten Free menu information on the clever tablet gizmo on each table. More about this, and a CAUTION*, below. I was very happy to discover that I could have chicken parm with GLUTEN FREE pasta and a salad for only $11.49! My wife ordered the eggplant parm for $10.49.
Nate M, our waiter, was wonderful. He checked on us a few times and understood about my food sensitivity. In order to protect me, he served the salad croutons to my wife separately from our salad bowl.
The food, itself, was even better than I remembered. The sauce on my GF pasta was excellent and the chicken perfectly prepared. My only regret is that I was unable to eat left-overs that I did bring home because of the extreme heat in the car that day.
I was more than pleased and will be back!
*Caution about the tablet gizmo on each table. This wonderful device offers a number of options. Amongst them, a TRIVIA game, and other video games. When I clicked on the Trivia game to see what it was like, there was NO mention of a charge. My wife and I stayed with the apparently nationwide game across numerous restaurants for 4 questions. We did not play. Because we clicked on the game, $2.99 was added to our bill. BEWARE, whether you are adults with or without kids. There IS a charge for any of the games!
Nate M kindly removed the charge when we explained what had transpired.
