Family friendly garden that constantly hosts classes and community events promoting healthy eating. My kids have participated in classes here for a few years now and have had a positive experience each and every time. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the gorgeous Queen Anne historic home is the icing on the cake of this wonderful property.

Was very happy to be able to explore this hidden gem. Our tour guides were amazing. Both women, Alyssa and Angelina were very articulate and knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful. I’m anxious to look into all they have to offer. Definitely worth checking out The house is beautiful inside and out.

We have worked together for over 8 years and as the National City Chamber of Commerce we have had events like mixers at Olivewood Gardens, and they are very helpful, and they are a great opportunity to have events and Mixers. Thank you, Olivewood Gardens!

My first time here we've had guess speakers from here come to our Chula Vista Garden Club. But I heard about Olivewood but never come by. It's nice a peaceful here, we had a appreciation luncheon here today what beautiful place There's a working kitchen here and classes too here. Alise was our chef she cooked vegan today for us all Pasta. A family memories from childhood by the chef she amazing 5/5 Salad with dressing and Flower's we all could eat was snap pea taste And cauliflower ceveiche a 10 We all enjoyed a afternoon surrounded by beautiful tree dressed up there recipes online too From Olivewood Parking can be tricky tho Come October & November they have events here for all too

I attended a dinner party event at Olivewood Gardens and was able to walk the grounds. The gardens are well maintained and vegetables and flowers were growing well. The lovely Victorian home sits in the middle of the property. So surprised to find this property in the middle of residential area. Makes for a gorgeous venue for outdoors dining.

We attended a Blank Table event at this location and this location was fantastic! Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center is a lovely venue in National City. Beautiful, well-kept gardens, ample parking, and big heritage trees that create instant shade and atmosphere--Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center is a hidden gem for events. The grounds feel serene and intimate, with plenty of spots for photos and conversation. Wonderful setting without the fuss.

Great company to volunteer and help, definitely a good cause and it's a beautiful property. The people are friendly and know what they're doing and care passionately about their cause. Definitely worth checking out!

Wow, gorgeous garden! Everything here is organic, Joyce gave us a tour, what a wonderful experience. The Victorian house sits surrounded by many fruits, vegetables and plants that are planted and cared for by volunteers, this was such a treat. The house was originally built in the 1800s by the Noyes family. During the 1980s the Waltons (yes, of Walmart fame) moved into the house, they only fed their 3 year old son from the organic garden who was stricken with cancer at the time. They moved out years later and generously donated the property; their son currently lives a healthy life. This amazing place also holds classes, I look forward to returning on a regular basis!

Training was biased, cliquey, and unprofessional. Not from the quality cooks & chefs- they were great. Admin were the ones with the problems. I'm sorry that I wasted my time anticipating taking this class (years). I thought I would be learning how to cook traditional Mexican food in a more healthy way, but that was in no way, shape, or form what was taught. Totally disappointing.

Not to be mistaken for a certain Italian restaurant chain.... Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, is an edible education garden and one of my favorite Non-profits! As a pretty regular volunteer since January 2012 I can attest to the wonderful experience many families leave with. This review has been a long-time draft, and that's because I can't seem to express the way this place lights people up, most especially the children when they learn about something new from the garden. This place is great for all ages. I've even taken my grandparents on their own little field-trip so they could get out of their little apartment. This place could also be great for out of town guest. Have a "No Thank You bite" and check out the place at least once! **Click on the link to the web and check out the calender of events. There are a few weekends a month that are Free for families. ** Take a free public tour on Tuesdays at 10am. Olivewood gardens is very fun to be at and learn about food and nutrition I went on May 16, 2018 and all the staff is very kind. I got to do some light weeding and harvesting for a compost pile and I also got to see different stages of the composting piles. I also got to be in there kitchen were I learned a recipe for veggie tacos which were delicious.

My husband and I have recently begun growing some container plants in our apartment patio. We are novices at gardening but were looking for ways to learn more about the area. So, I searched around online and found a listing for a free French Intensive Gardening class in May 2013. We immediately registered for it. It was a 3 hour class on a Saturday morning. So, the timing suited us well. The gardens were lovely and the instructors (Martha and Joni) were very knowledgeable and passionate about their work. There were about 15-20 of us in the class.We were divided into two groups. Some folks had been doing this for years while some like us were completely new. The instructors answered all our questions, even the dumb ones. We were even given handouts that had valuable information about the topic of our class: companion planting.We were first taken on a short tour of the gardens which was fascinating by itself. There were lovely flowers and also a whole lot of vegetables. The tour was followed by one round of companion planting with corn, beans and beetroot and then a second round of double digging to prepare the bed. After the class got over, we volunteered to stick around and help with some bed preparation. It was not only a fun learning experience but also a wonderful feeling to give back. If classes are not something that you are interested in, you can just visit the garden and take a tour. It's a lovely place.
