Oltrarno Splendid

It’s rare to be confused about what is a dream and what is reality. You know pretty quickly after waking on what divide of consciousness you lie on. Staying at Oltrarno Splendid is like living somewhere in the middle of that space. This was by far the most enjoyable and welcoming hotel experience I’ve ever had. They advertise themselves as a bed and breakfast and hotel hybrid and it lives up to it to a tee (with no awkward conversations with the hosts at breakfast). The room is lovely and large, with only warm light fixtures. The bed and linens are comfy. The bathroom - equipped both with a powerful shower and a nifty towel heater- a dream. The daily breakfast is delicious, featuring a number of freshly baked goods and the staff is truly wonderful and helpful. Special shout out to Davide who made our late arrival easy and Alberto who didn’t take no for an answer in insisting we eat at his favorite restaurants and making last minute reservations for dinner for both of them (which both lived extremely up to the hype). The hotel is close to Florence’s sights but away from its overly touristy output- surrounded by cool bars and lively restaurants. I not only would recommend this to friends to stay at, if I come back to Florence, I’d love to stay here again!

We loved our 4 day stay here. The hotel is on 2 floors of a beautiful, old building. Our large king sized room (booked through the Mr & Mrs Smith website - they’ve never booked us a bad hotel) was gorgeous. Massive room, very high ceiling. Original tiles and frescoes. Freestanding slipper bath and a double shower.|Concierge, Davide was an absolute joy. So friendly and helpful with booking taxis, restaurants and recommendations for where to go.|Breakfasts are a variety of cereals, yoghurts, meats and cheeses.|The hotel is perfectly positioned for exploring Florence. Our room was pretty quiet at night (for a city centre). Nice lounge and honesty bar. Highly recommended

This is a really nice boutique hotel with very friendly staff. The breakfast was nice and there is also some food offered that one can grab during the day. The room we had (I believe it's their biggest one) was very spacious and had some quirky decorations. As it was on the upper floor, we had a great view over the city. I highly recommend it!

Amazing stay at Oltrarno Splendid!! Location was smack in the middle of all of the great places. We literally walked 5 minutes to everything: shops, restaurants, etc. Room was so cozy and very clean. Hotel staff were so lovely and super kind, breakfast was delicious! The overall vibe of the hotel was so homey and comforting with an artistic style! Overall, had an AMAZING experience and will be staying here again.

What a gem? If you are tired of the impersonal hotels who all look the same you should stay here! The rooms are elegantly decorated and provide a true voyage into Italian style and creativity. The folks at the front desk are the kindest and most knowledgeable about their town... and their restaurant recommendations are right on. Highly recommended!

Best B&B I’ve stayed in. It’s a home from home with lovely rooms and, in particular, beds. The honesty bar is great with two nice lounge areas. The free coffee, water and cake throughout the day is refreshing. ||Alberto is a star - he welcomes and treats you like an old friend. Priceless.

An amazing quirky hotel. ||We arrived late (following flight cancellation) but the communication with the hotel was faultless resulting in easy check in at midnight.||Wonderful unique room. Quiet but within easy walking reach of all the main attractions in Florence.||Breakfast was very simple (few pastries, coffee etc) but did its job fine||If you are looking for a great hotel that is not part of your usual big chains, in a great location with wonderful service then look no further

I cannot say enough good things about Oltrarno Splendid! We had great communication beforehand, which made us feel comfortable about our first stay in Italy. David checked us in and quickly became our friend. He is the most kind-hearted, helpful, and wonderful host. He helped us with recommendations, booked taxi services and restaurant reservations, and gave us a good lay of the land. When he showed us our room, I burst into tears. It was the one I had seen in the photo and requested months in advance. Obviously, they couldn't guarantee that room in advance, but they remembered my request and were able to make it happen for me. The room was beyond beautiful and extremely comfortable. When we went to breakfast the next morning, we met Laura, who had prepared everything so beautifully and made me the best cappuccino I've ever had. The meets, cheeses, yogurt with toppings, fruit, cakes, and, of course, cornettos were all amazing. Besides breakfast, Laura made sure there were yummy treats, fresh fruit, and beverages supplied all day long. This was especially nice when coming back from a hot day to siesta before heading back out again. Lastly, we met Alberto, who also kindly and cheerfully helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations. David, Laura, and Alberto made our stay the absolute best. I can honestly say that we've never encountered such amazing service in all our travels. We were sad to leave Oltrarno Splendid and our precious new friends there, but we know that the next time we're in the area, we will most definitely stay there.
