I love this Polish bakery! I always come here for my birthday cakes so I knew that I would absolutely get my wedding cake from here. When deciding on a cake, I gave the bakery a Pinterest photo of my dream wedding cake — and they absolutely 💯 delivered. Not only did the cake look stunning (every detail was exactly how I envisioned it), but it tasted even better than it looked! We went with a chocolate raspberry mousse flavor, and it was rich, moist, and perfectly balanced — not too sweet, just delicious and fresh! The ladies at the bakery are easy to work with and price was very reasonable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants both beauty and flavor in their wedding cake!

I bought a mushroom and spinach pastry today, only to find visible mold inside. Mold can cause serious gut issues and poses health risks, especially for people allergic to penicillin. Selling moldy food is unacceptable and shows poor quality control. Please address this immediately to protect your customers’ health.

SCAM!!! I've had enough. Coming here for years. Used to be the best, now just scamming customers with all dough no filling pastries. This particular danish used to be stuffed with poppy seed. Gradually they've reduced the amount and by now they just literally sprinkle the edges and there's pretty much nothing inside. Same with their poppy seed rolls. Used to be amazing and juicy. Now it's just dried up. Never coming back!!! Message to the owner: your greed just cost you a customer.

Date it looks ok but tastes like it was made last year and with the worst ingredients. It smells old.

This tops it off for me, I just found a piece of a rag inside the "Makowiec" from Olympia Bakery. Merry Xmas to me. I'm with the previous person that post a review. This place got worst over the years. Time to look for a new bakery.

I tried an apricot danish, oreo cheesecake, brownie, and a carrot cake soooo good! This is a very good bakery!

The selection is always amazing! I suggest you get there early on weekends. The prices are quite reasonable compared to other area bakeries and grocery stores.

This place used to be the spot when the Greek family owned it, now its horrible sweets are supposed to be SWEET!!! Not bland, like some drunks and cigarette smokers eat it and can't tell the difference and they probably use generic ingredients and lots of lard awful baked goods

I stopped in yesterday for the first time. I really like Polish food and bakery items, but this particular bakery was just OK to me. Majority of their bakery goods behind the counter don't even have names on them and I did not see any prices. It's hard to know exactly what you're ordering when you don't know what it is. I had this raspberry whipped cream kind of dessert between what tasted like Filo dough for $1.99. It was ok, I ended up throwing most of it away. The second thing I had was a cheesecake, which had whipped cream, caramel and nuts on top for $2.49. The cheesecake was pretty good. I don't know if I would return to this bakery though. I just feel like there's a lot better options elsewhere.

Great bakery with a vast and delicious suggestion and a helpful staff. The chocolate dipped almond cookies are our favorite.

I grew up in Jystice 50 yrs ago with this bakery. I guess it has been sold. When I was in town today I was excited to make a special trip there. I bought kalatchki, and they are terrible. No filling and dry. The canolli was just ok. The cake was ok, nothing special like it use to be. I won't return

Sweet place and loads of bakery goods. Nice female behind the counter and some grocery options for polish items too. Will be back for more when we are seeking lunch

Great Bakery! Wonderful selection with reasonable prices. They made our wedding cake which they did a beautiful job at and all of our guest loved it.

I needed a First Holy Communion cake, and my mom suggested this bakery. I called, and the girl who answered the phone seemed to have a lot of experience at the bakery, and she made great suggestions. For example, I asked which flavor people generally like, and she asked which nationality the guests would be, and gave me two options. I picked triple berry, and both the adults and kids really liked it. When asked what I wanted as far as the appearance, I again deferred to her judgment, and she again gave good suggestions. It's so nice to be able to call with no idea of what I wanted, and to hang up feeling confident that the cake would look and taste great. My mom picked the cake up on Saturday morning, and everything went smoothly. I'll definitely be using this bakery again.

Fresh, various, and priced right. Great place for coffeecake, danish, kolacki, and breads.

That is my Favorite bakery in town. I have been living in this area since 2003 and keep going to Olympia Bakery to order cakes for different kind of occasions or just get pastries for my guests or taking them to work. They never disappoint me. I love their Bakery goods. They are delicious!

This is the worst experience ever!! It is my last time ordering a Birthday cake from this place. Last time I had to wait 20mins until they found my cake. This time was even worst. I ordered a cake for 9.30 am , came to pick it up at 12 pm and it still wasn't ready. The cake wasn't decorated.  It looks like the woman who I talked about decorating the cake didn't leave the message to the other co-workers. The Birthday party was suppose to start at 1pm and they told me to come back in an hour becuase they had to decorate it. Unbelievable. The place is a total mess and very irresponsible. I lost 1 hour waiting. My hour is worth min $100,  so I lost it  waiting there aimlessly. If you need a  cake for a special occasion Just stay away from this bakery and order somewhere else!!! On the top of everything everybody was ruth instead of saying sorry and apologize for the situations they gave me attitude answering the simple question How much longer I have to wait? It's very sad what's going on with Businesses. Well this place won't get my Business anymore. And you should think twice too, If you don't want to stay without the cake for your child's Birthday or any other important occasion. Since now I will drive 10mins extra to Weber bakery or somewhere else!!!

Honestly, this place is the worse bakery I been to.. I tried a few of their cakes and all of them end up in the garbage and I am the kind of person who hates throwing or wasting food. Very dry and plastic taste.. I am very astonished that they are still open. Overall, I won't recommend this place to anyone.

I HATE THIS BAKERY!!!!! The cashiers are racist and very RUDE!!! Had me and my mother drive all the way here for no reason only to tell me I need to come back two days later for a cake tasting . I called three times and she failed to tell me that I have to call two days earlier to do a cake tasting. Then I get there and she had NO suggestions on what flavors I could choose or cake flavors . This bakery is a joke; unprofessional and I understand why they have SO MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS !!!!!!!! If I could give ZERO STARS I WOULD .

Outstanding! This the Supermarket of all bakeries. Been here dozens of times and never disappointed. Very reasonable too!

I see all the negative reviews and I realize what a bunch of snobs and fools that don't realize the work that goes into baking pastries! I've been going to Olympia Bakery for years and the product is very good , Yeah I don't speak Polish so if you take it personally that sometimes the employees don't understand you then take your sensitive feelings and hit the road! Overall, I'm glad that HH has a bakery in town and I patronize them often! Thank You Olympia for baking for our community!

BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. The left is what we asked them to make, the right is what we got. TERRIBLE. SO UGLY. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Cake was disgusting. 50% cake, 50% cream filing on the inside. Never coming here again.

Every trip home to Chicago, is a reason to gain a few lbs. And Olympia is a large contributor to this cause. Not coming here is not a possibility for my husband and me. The pastry sizes are out of this world. The coffee cake looks more like a coffee table (exaggeration... sort of). However, you can't find anything close to it where we now live. Don't get me started on the pączki (POHNCH-kee). Too late... I started. They have so many flavors to choose from. Blueberry, prune, raspberry, chocolate with cream filling etc... They are more fresh than you could ever imagine. Sorry back to the coffee cake, not only is it large it's fresh and filled with fruit filling, or cheese filling or cinnamon or nuts etc... They always have plenty on hand to choose your favorite or favorites. The price is amazing as well. Some days they even have a special 2 for $7. You can't find anything comparable here in Reno. Here they are half that size and way more pricey. A visit to the Chicagoland area without coming here is tragic. They are always busy, but just push your way in and get some fabulous tasting desserts to pack on some pounds. Tell them Michelle sent you... lol.

I'm Polish & love polish food & bakeries. This was pretty to look at BUT not good. Nothing was good. Cheese cake like dry gel Chalka - terribly dry Poppy seed roll - very dry. I don't get it - I'm From Syr NY & this would Never happen. I truly think Chicagoland is clueless on good food.

Door says masks required. Sakes people not wearing masks. Quality of baked goods - Poor. Smaller danish rolls, much higher prices. Bakers skimping on quality resulting on dry, tough dough. Used to be excellent. Not going back to buy.

I have been going to Olympia Bakery for over 2 decades. They have great Rye Bread, and tasty coffee cakes, wonder Kolachkis (sp?), donuts and such. This is a Polish Bakery so look no further breads and sweets!!!

I'm reading some of these reviews and have no idea what these 1 and 2 star reviews are talking about. I've lived all around the country and have yet to find a bakery this good. In fact I've brought samples from this bakery to friends in other parts of the country who *think* that they know what good baking is, and they're always amazed. Yes, they can be aloof and don't jump around your every wish like a Starbucks barista. But if you want the glory of eastern European food, you have to put up with the eastern European people, who don't come a culture where they'll wipe your entitled rear end if you need it. What they DO do is bake like no standard American place can. And I'm a real person and not a company plant. My family has been going to this bakery for decades! Amazing whipped cream cakes and custard donuts! The chocolate covered custard donuts used to be bigger though. Please bring this back! I Still will go here, rather then any other place!

Our wedding cake came free with our venue from this bakery, so I feel kinda bad about the so so review, but honestly, if I had to do it over again, I probably would have paid another bakery to make our cake. Our wedding cake looked pretty and it was as we asked, three tiered, hombre peach, final layer being heart shaped, but it was DRY, not tasty at all. We asked for strawberry and custard like filling and it was barely there, just mostly dried cake layers. The marble cake with raspberry preserve layer was barely any raspberries and dry, dry cake. The only reason I am giving two stars is we also ordered mini pastries for each table and those were pretty tasty, and less than a dollar a piece. If you're looking to get your wedding cake here, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

The owner is by far the rudest person I have ever talked to in my life. They delivered a three tier wedding cake and multiple boxes of sweets to the wrong venue and took zero responsibility. The bride and groom had to send a guest to pick it up from the venue it was mistakenly delivered to. All of their items come in completely unmarked boxes, so the venue had no one to contact to let them know they delivered to the wrong place. There was not even a receipt or business card included with the order. Very irresponsible, I understand mistakes happen, but the situation could have been easily solved had the delivery driver (who was the owner) verified the venue name upon arriving and if there would have been something identifying the business included with the order. I would never recommend using them, they are unreliable with awful customer service. I wish I could leave less than one star.

Finally got a chance to make a quick stop here I always pass by and you know my love for bakeries :) I must try them all, they particularly make polish baked goods, such as cake and cookies and a few pastries here and there, if you like to strong polish taste this is for you. I'm not a big fan of that bold liquorish (not liquorice) scent & taste. They do have some almond cookies and buttery flaky ones too that I love and the price is pretty darn good, I will come back for more!

NOT THE FIRST TIME. i ordered my son a cake for his first communion, and they were suppose to deliver it to the banquet Hall at 1:30pm. It was dessert time at 4:30, and asked where the cake was, and they had no idea that a cake was suppose to be delivered. I called the bakery and they said, oh, they will send someone right now. I did not need the cake anymore, so i told them to refund me and keep the cake i needed the cake at 1:30, not 4:30. The owner, hung up on me 3 different times, then SCREAMED at me stating that if i didnt see a cake at 1:30, it was my responsibility to call. I proceeded to tell her that is why i ordered delivery and trusted them to deliver the product. I have had a.few good experiences there, but i also had 2 other incidents where the cake was caved in in the middle. At that time, she told me that i must have hit a pothole. NEVER again will i order anything from there. I have been going to the bakery for quite a couple of years, but every year the service is worse and worse. I strongly believe that the owner needs to retire because she does not know how to run a business at her age. It was my sons communion, and it was ruined all because of a selfish old lady.

I worked here and they keep their doors open so their are nice and rats in the back room. You will never know how long your food has been sitting. It's disgusting and should be reported for unsanitary conditions.

This was such a disappointing trip. I was so excited stepping into a Bakery that smelled heavenly! However, I was deeply disappointed when all the items I ordered were dry, tasteless and underwhelming. It's true, looks can be deceiving, everything looked delicious but nothing was.

So far the best bakery , their cakes r so good taste like same in my country.bread also fresh n good.i like almost everything in this bakery.

Bad service only one cashier @ 7:00am on an weekday. And one customer was in front of me ordering about 100.00 of baked goods. Not good. I will give it only one star!!!!!

I must join the number of negative reviews of this bakery. I'm a first generation American so I love ethnic food! However there is a clannish quality to this bakery. They engage in long chats with customers who are friends while I've waited. Today I started to walk out when the clerk realized she was chatting too much. She called out Sir and immediately asked what I needed. The Kolacky are very good, however many other pastries are tasteles.

***If you order a cake from here make sure the person that takes your order reads it back to you and review it once more a few days before your event. Save your receipts! *** If your order is wrong, you're out of luck because nothing will be done about it =/ I ordered my wedding cake from here thinking it was the best decision. I ordered two sample cakes first to try the different fillings. I decided to go with all vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and chocolate mousse fillings. The day of the wedding they delivered the cake and it looked beautiful on the outside and it tasted good, but I realized the order was not right. ---Wrong flavor -The top tier was chocolate cake instead of vanilla cake ---It didn't have the ombre effect we had discussed. The lightest color tier was the middle instead of the top tier. ---Very little amount of fresh strawberries for the fresh strawberry filling I got a slice and a half of strawberry in my piece of cake and it was the same for the rest of the guests. In the sample cake there were plenty of strawberries, so this was a bit misleading. I brought a picture with me when the order was made and they said it would be no problem to make a blue ombre effect. The picture was left with them and was attached to the order. If it would have been any other day I would not have been bothered much, but this was a wedding cake and I spent a good amount of money on it. I passed on other vendors thinking here was the best choice. I called the bakery afterwards to tell them about what had happened. I was even more disappointed because they told me in the original order it said chocolate cake not vanilla. I told them that is not what I had wanted in the first place, that there must have been a misunderstanding when the order was made. I made many trips to the bakery before the wedding day asking if everything was okay but the order was not reviewed before the wedding. I asked if there was anything they could do about this misunderstanding but they said that nothing could be done about it. Basically that "the wedding had passed and what's done is done" If you come to this bakery stick to the already made cakes and pastries. If you are looking to make a cake order, I strongly suggest going somewhere else.

This is the BEST BAKERY EVER! My family is Polish & my parents have been ordering pastries & cakes from here for a while. Everything I've tried here is truly amazing. Luckily I live in indy so don't have these tasty treats all the time but man, I dream about these delicious treats. Olympia Bakery is top notch.

I called in advance to order 10 packages of crullers (Chruściki) that the bakery is famous for. They said "no, we're not making them". I said "no kidding?". That's all she repeated. No reason...

Very rude customer service. I stopped going there from how rude the cashiers are. They act as if you are getting the pastries for free.

This product was bought from Berkot's in Orland Park but was made by Olympia Bakery in Hickory Hills. I love Berkot's but their bakery products are generally horrible. I bought this prune coffee cake and it was utterly dry. The filling was spread on top only and not throughout the coffee cake. I spent $6 for this and had to throw it out because it was so dry.

Ordered cake for my son's fifth birthday party. My son chose cake from their cake book he was so exited about it. Before his party we came to pick up cake and there was NO CAKE!!!!! They did bring some regular one not what we chose. The attitude of the workers were horrible, they were rolling eyes and were very rude. We had to go to another bakery for a cake. They not even apologized.

They have some of the best donuts i ever had. They were fresh and soft really good. This is a must have if you like baked food.

Do you have a sweet tooth? If you do, I found the place for you! They always have a good amount of product in stock so you VERY rarely find empty shelves. The baked goodies are very good and reasonable priced and the service here is very good also. Need something custom made? Give them a call and they can accommodate you easily.

Purchased a "Strawberry Cheese" coffee cake by them from Fairplay Foods. No cheese and the cake was dryer than the Sahara. Orland Bakery is MUCH better, sells their items next to Olympia's crap at Fairplay, and Orland's products actually are what they say they are...shame on Olympia Bakery! I will be willing to re-write this review should Olympia Bakery attempt to remedy my problem.

I don't really recommend this place to anyone. I've gotten cake from here 2x and both times the cake was dry and crumbly. Jewel is right around the corner and I would honestly recommend buying a cake from there than paying way to much for something that isn't even edible. Horrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, not even as a last resort.

I live a few blocks away and stop by here from time to time to get coffee cakes to bring to work. The pastries are good and fresh (most of the time), I ordered a few birthday cakes from here and they were very bland, nothing special and you can definitely find better. Now... The biggest problem they have at this place is the ladies behind the counter; very rude, no customer service, making it seem as if they're doing a favor to the customer by taking their order. It's apparent the owner doesn't train or makes customer service a priority with the workers. Makes Polish people look bad... Get some nicer people to work and stress the importance of good customer service.

Passed by and decided to try. The kolaczkis are absolutely amazing. There were only two working the counter when I stopped by, but they were quick and attentive to the customers. Will be back to try other pastries!

I've been here a few times because each time I come I hope it gets better, but it never does. I'll say that everything I've had was decent, except the pound cake, which was tremendously dry. The unfortunate downfall for me is that the customer service is always so terrible. Every time I go in, the people behind the counter make me feel like I've inconvenienced them. Either that, or they're all just that grumpy, all of the time. To top things off, there are quite a few good bakeries in the area, so I can't even justify coming here anymore. I can't give them 1 star because they're always well stocked and I've never been truly disappointed with their product except for the pound cake.

Very large selection for all morning needs. Coffee cakes, donuts, etc. Service was excellent. Very cheap but very good. A great place to go to.

This bakery produces everything from wedding cakes to tea cookies. Many a graduation, communion, and birthday cakes have been purchased here by my family. But their specialty is their polish pastries and deserts (you will have to give pardon to my spelling on these) Delicious kolachky, kruschikie, pazcki; you name it, they have it. Everything is made from scratch every day, and the smell surrounding the place in the morning is heavenly. The only drawback is that not many of the employees can speak much English, and sometimes if you don't exactly know what you want, ordering can get kind of tricky. So when in doubt, point it out.

Overall, this is a great place. It serves tasty sweets at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth...especially if you're Polish. My issue with this place is that while they have great sweets, the workers strongly favor anyone that can speak Polish. On several different occasions, I would be waiting in line when a Polish-speaking customer enters. The customer would start talking to the cashier in Polish and would receive immediate service, even if there's a long line of people waiting.

This is such a great bakery. When we lived in the area, we would always order from Olympia. Very friendly staff and yummy baked goods. The kolachky and cakes are great!

They completely screwed up our order last year for a wedding cake. So much Miscommunication. Spoke with he elder lady (with a thick accent) who took our order.I think the mistake was making it with her. I had a feeling it might have have happen. I should have taken the advice from people around this area, that this bakery is a bad place to make orders. I learned My lesson

I placed an order for 5 lbs of kolacy December 14, 2018 for our company Christmas party on December 21, 2018. I asked the girl who took the order how much the kolacy were a pound and was told $ 6.99. When I arrived on the 21st to pick up my order the bill was on top of the tray and the total was $ 59.00. Everyone knows that 5 X $6.99 = $ 34.95 plus tax. I asked the girl how much the kolacky's were a pound and was told $ 10.99. I said no when I place this order I asked and was told the kolacky's were $6.99 a lb. I said two years ago the same thing happened and I am not paying $ 10.99. As I was arguing with the lady who was waiitng on me another's employee was shaking her head and said you are correct about the price. I asked to speak to the owner and was told by the employee that the owner does not care about the employees and will not care what I have to say. Needless to say they were told to keep there kolacky's. Shame on the owner to do that to loyal customers and take advantage of people. There is a special place for them!!! Will never be back!!!!!!
