“What can I say but… OPA!!!”
If you want a restaurant experience that makes you feel like part of the family and leaves you questioning why you ever eat anywhere else, Olympia Café is the place.
We were in Savannah celebrating my daughter’s 20th birthday with a group of ten adults (yes, ten…bless them). Our evening started at another restaurant nearby, but let’s just say the service there was about as lively as a bowl of plain oatmeal. We got up, walked out, and made the best decision of the trip: calling Olympia.
It was almost 8 p.m. on a Saturday night, and instead of laughing us off the phone, they cheerfully said, “Come on in!”
From the moment we walked in, Vaz (the owner) and the entire staff treated us like VIPs. Our waiter, Richard—who has been with Olympia since 1996 (that’s longer than the birthday girl has been alive!)—was a total pro. He guided us through the evening with warmth, humor, and impeccable service.
The food? Absolutely spectacular. Imagine flavor doing a fireworks show in your mouth—bold, bright, and unforgettable. The flaming cheese was the kind of dish that makes you want to stand up and cheer, and every plate at the table was a hit. Flavor, flavor, flavor!
And dessert? Let’s just say when Richard and Vaz arrived with trays of baklava, cheesecake, tiramisu, and fresh fruit, it felt like the grand finale of a Broadway show.
What started as a night headed for disaster became one of the most special, joy-filled, and delicious birthday dinners Emily will ever remember. Olympia didn’t just serve us a meal; they gave us a memory.
OPA to that! 🎉
