I was in desperate need of caffeine for my early work event in Olympia last Saturday. I therefore stopped by Olympia Coffee Roasting Company on my way.
Olympia Coffee Roasting Company has several locations including one in Seattle and several in Olympia. This was my first time visiting any of their locations. This location serves a variety of coffee and tea drinks, fresh pastries, and breakfast tacos.
Prices are fairly standard at about $6-$7 per drink plus an extra $1 if you want plant milk.
I ordered their seasonal HAUPIA LATTE (light ice with oat milk) and a CHAI LATTE for my coworker. I also ordered a SUNRISE BREAKFAST TACO which had vegan chorizo and avocado.
The HAUPIA LATTE was the perfect sweetness even without any adjustments (as someone who normally gets drinks at 30% - 50% sweet). It had a slight but not overpowering coconut flavor- honestly I slightly wish it was a bit more coconutty, but it still tasted good and reminded me of coconut lattes in Hawaii.
My coworker (without knowing where I had gone), enjoyed her CHAI LATTE and said that upon first sip, she recognized the chai taste and asked if it was from Olympia Coffee. So apparently their chai is distinctive and not just your ordinary chai.
The SUNRISE TACO, while small for $5-$6, hit the spot and was nice and hot. The chorizo had lots of taste (I didn't even bother adding the salsa packet) and the avocado was fresh and green. It definitely hit the spot and was the perfect complement to my sweet latte.
The most remarkable thing about this coffee location was their service. The barista was taking and making my order at the same time and literally by the time I had finished my last word of ordering, they had both drinks ready for me at the counter ready to go! I've never had this quick and efficient service before at a coffee shop, or any establishment in general! It took a little time to heat up my taco, but they toast it on the spot for you and so that's understandable. I was in and out within 10 minutes and would've been 5 minutes if I had not ordered food.
The interior is very modern and casual. They sell their own coffee beans and have nice coffee products in general. I would definitely come here to work or study if I lived in the area!
It's street parking only and they don't have any loading or temporary parking spots and so you do have to pay for parking even if you're ordering to go or risk the 10 minutes. During my visit, I did drive behind several parking meter carts.
The only other negative besides parking is that there was a homeless person outside of their store who leered at me as I walked by. This can happen anywhere downtown though, so just be street smart.
Overall: 4/5 for food and drink, 5/5 for service, 4/5 for ambiance
