"Olympia Oyster Bar, the cheerfully industrial seafood restaurant on Mississippi, will be closing its doors by the end of the year. However, fans of its oyster and seafood program will be relieved to hear that it will continue on, in the form of pop-ups and an oyster bar at the coast. There’s also a good chance it will reopen in a new space somewhere down the line. Owner and chef Maylin Chavez cited the end of a four-year lease as the main reason to move on, but also because of new opportunities the change provides." - Alex Frane

"Olympia Oyster Bar, the seafood shop from chef Maylin Chavez, closed after service on December 16. The chef is looking for a new space with a larger kitchen, and will continue to do pop-ups at Nevør Shellfish Farm on the coast and Portland’s Function event space." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This place was at the top of my list when visiting Portland. And I have to tell you, it was so worth it! We enjoyed every single item that we ordered. The presentation alone makes it worth every penny. I'm already thinking about my next trip, because I haven't tried everything yet. Their wine pairings with oysters was amazing. This is a small restaurant, so I do suggest making reservations ahead of time.

I was here for Portland Dining Month and it was the only restaurant that had reservations available on the same day! I was very appreciative of that. They don’t have private seats, they seat your group at a long table, which is fine to accommodate a lot of people but the guests sitting next to us were so loud and I could hear their conversations. Not the restaurant’s fault, but maybe don’t come here for a romantic evening. Also they put combined orders in one, so you’d have to watch if you’re eating too much or not enough. Also have to pay for bread....

Stopped by for Valentine's - truly casual chic, excellent oysters, very smartly interpreted seafood, versatile wine list from small production in Northern Italy, France & some domestic. Erudite & happy crew :)

Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Very eco conscious. Reused sardine tins to serve appetizing snacks. Great presentation on food. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted very flavorful. Truly a unique experience. We'll be back to try everything on the menu!

Was here with my brother and sister for their happy hour specials. Great service from the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They recommended a wine that is now my sister's favorite white wine! The oysters were clean, fresh, and delicious. Prices for happy hour were very reasonable. Recommend

The food is amazing! Love the pan seared and crisp oysters. The shrimp is wonderful too. Really good flavours overall. Highly recommended!

Casual oyster bar with other familiar seafood offerings. Happy hour oysters are a good deal @$18/doz. The wine special was good but not enough to warrant the $15/glass price tag. Friendly and casual, just don't be in a hurry and plan on eat and run.

My boyfriend and I had another great date night here just last night. Not only is their oyster selection impressive, they also have excellent other dishes to choose from. We had the ceviche (picture is after we devoured it) and shrimp toast- both fantastic. Check this spot out!
