The 13 Best New Restaurants in Barcelona | Eater

"The chefs at Plata Bistro strive to keep the dishes simple. Very simple. Each traditional stew has only three ingredients, but through clever techniques and seasonal ingredients, the minimalist dishes have mass appeal. The menu, which changes continually, is projected on the dining room wall with slides showcasing the day’s options, made with ingredients sourced from the local farmers market. Think chanterelles with a fried egg, chicken with Swiss chard and foie gras, or fresh strawberries with mascarpone and balsamic." - Isabel Conde

Simply 5 stars place! I’m quite a picky person when it comes to brunch, but OMA Bistro definitely managed to deliver! Eggs Benedicts with salmon are superb here, I always want to come back for more. The overall vibe in the place is also very easy and friendly, it’s nice to be there. Keep up the great job guys! ❤️

Google
What a great spot to have a quality meal. Small menu but the options are all high quality and full of Flavour. The service is excellent. They are so friendly and able to speak English which I great for someone who does t speak Spanish

Google
Nice food, we went here for brunch and everything came quickly and was very tasteful. Service was nice but could be a bit more attentive. I recommend this place and would come back again! 😊

Google
Waited a little while to be seated as it was so busy, but it was WELL worth the wait! Excellent food, great service and lovely coffee. We all had eggs Benedict which were as delicious as they look! Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Google
Really poor for what is a prime location and expensive menu. Ordered the avocado benedict which is one of their ‘star’ items, shakshuka, and two cappuccino’s. Coffee and shakshuka was average and the potatoes on the benedict were stone cold. Like they were cooked yesterday and thrown on the plate without being warmed up. I asked if they were meant to be like that and was told by the server (very friendly and easily the best part of this place) that they weren’t and we could change them but I would have to wait and unfortunately didn’t have time for a weekday breakfast. Unfortunately would not repeat this experience

Cozy space full of natural light, super tasty food, wonderful coffee and even more wonderful staff. I love being there! Thank you, guys, for your kind service❤️

Google
Great place! I am vegan, and they had two delicious-sounding vegan options, although it was not that good in the end. I got eggplant sandwich, and it was a little simple-tasting. The coffee was amazing, though!! And such a vibe

Google
One of my new favorites in the neighborhood! I love the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Tge café has big window and there is a lot of natural light coming in, high ceiling and industrial design. Food and matcha latte was amazing! Can’t wait to be back!

Yelp
Amazing!! Ordered the yuca fries and they were SO good. Probably the best yuca fries I have ever had. The service was great and the ambiance was amazing. It felt so warm, friendly and cozy inside.

Yelp
This was a good quick stop for breakfast in Spain. We ended up coming here because it was a weekend morning, and the other breakfast restaurants had too long wait times. The inside is a little small but the ambiance is nice, there just isn't a lot of seating space so not good for larger parties. It was just a little difficult to eat our food on the couches we were sat in but that didnt bother me cause the couches were comfy LOL. I enjoyed the French toast a lot and I also got this sandwich thing that I now can't remember the name of but that was yummy as well. I think this place is definitely worth a try if you are in the Barcelona area!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this delicious breakfast in Eixample! Coffee was on point. The benedict is served on a bagel - just an FYI for you purists out there.

Yelp
This place makes you feel instantly relaxed on a sunny early morning for brunch. it gives hipster vibes and the quality of food is really fresh and good, they even have baked goods available. I got the turkish eggs for the first time and was surprised. I think they could have been seasoned a lot more. The french toast was also mushy and drenched with cream which my sister was disappointed by. The food is beautifully presented but doesn't match in taste unfortunately.

Yelp
Corner restaurant with french door length window panes that can open up for fresh air. Mid October and its still warm out with the humidity, with the windows open, it was great. Ordered the bagel sandwich which was okay Then oma burger, okay Fried chicken to share, okay. On the verge of being chicken jerky English breakfast, per friend good Benedict, per friend okay Juice was good Shakshuka was good Fresh orange juice was good Cappuccinos were good- took a while though so it wont be warm when you get it Pretty much the only con was the bacon was not as crispy. Portions were good. Ladies working here weren't horrible. The one on the floor, very quick tempo and really doesn't give two cents about much. She gets the job done. Lady at the coffee bar is definitely softer There's a bench at one of the window opening where we had two chicks sitting there chain smoking while trying to finish juices for 2 hours. But that is typical of Spain. Second smoking is everywhere you go.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is so wonderful and they have pretty good prices here for what you get! I popped in for lunch one day to say hi to my friend who works here and I ended up going back four days in a row because the food was so good! You also get a lot for what you pay here. On top of that, it's one of the few places here in Barcelona where the servers really take care of their customers. They seem to have a lot of regular customers here and for good reason. Between the friendly staff and great food, this place is hard to beat! I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who lives in or is visiting Barcelona :)

Yelp
I was liking for a brunch place close to the apt in Barcelona. I came across Oma which had some good reviews. We certainly picked the right place. We sat at our table and the menu was only in Catalan. The waitress' Carola brought us an english menu. This place could hold about 30 people on the tables and after we sat down, all of a sudden people started pouring in. Carola was alone serving and she was all over the place taking care of everyone. The difference, she does not complain, she goes from one table to the next with a big smile on her face. She is so friendly and nice. We ordered the poached eggs with pastrami' the open omelet with spinach and avocado' and finally french toast. All were amazingly fresh and with awesome flavor. The potatoes that accompanied the poached were tremendously good. They are popped in the oven's then Fried and it was so flavorful. Also had coffees and other items and finally finished with a double chocolate stout beer. I am really cutting this short' but overall it was an excellent meal and a perfect start to our day. Met 2 of the owners , Eduardo (Edu was nickname), and he makes sure he is part of the daily ins and outs of the business which shows alot. Carola and Edu work perfectly together!! This a MUST go place for breakfast and brunch!!

Yelp
Unbelievable! California natives came to visit this terrific little cafe. The food was absolutely amazing. Judy, our server, was lovely. She was kind, and cheerful. Very warm atmosphere. The food was so delicious. A great mix of "our" comfort food with the beautiful Spain palate. The coffee was the best we've had in Spain. Just an over all delightful experience. There is a reason it was listed as the #1 breakfast spot near our hotel.

Yelp
Amazing staff and food. We ordered the salmon bagel and eggs Benedict; both were superb.

Yelp
Sencillamente espectacular!!!! El bagel hecho por ellos mismos , el café y los jugos son lo máximo. Se ve que cuidan cada detalle y lo hacen con cariño. El staff súper amable. Definitivamente un sitio al que iré cada vez que vaya a Barcelona.

Yelp
If you are in Barcelona stop by this delicious and friendly respite. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The coffee was smooth and rich and the smoothie was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. The kombucha hit the spot for this weary traveler. We ordered 3 different brunch meals and each one was tasty and fresh and plate licking good. For the sweet tooth the pancakes are amazing and for the savory try the nachos, mmmm. The bagel was more a bread shaped bagel than a true boiled bagel but all the ingredients were spot on. Couldn't recommend this restaurant more.

Yelp
We loved this little Bistro so much we ate here multiple times during our stay. Very friendly service, excellent food, and adorable interior. Yogurt dish is absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of options for everyone in our group, including a vegetarian.

Yelp
After months of searching, I finally found the perfect place where you can spend hours hanging out, working on your laptop, reading or just relaxing. OMA Bistro is quiet, cute and very comfortable. You can camp out as long as you would like, eating one of their delicious cakes and drinking freshly squeezed juices, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. My only issue is that you have to re-login to the wifi quite often, since it's through social wi-fi, which can be bothersome if you're getting work done. Other than that, it's a lovely place, especially for brunch and breakfast. Seriously do not miss their granola and fruit yogurt. For such a simple meal, it is absolutely delicious!

Yelp
Delicious breakfast and great coffee. The breakfast bagel and English breakfast hit the spot. The latte was perfect. Coming back again soon. Our family enjoyed it a lot.

Yelp
What a blast! This place is amazing and food is sooooo good! I think I've never had a better mozzarella in my life, and salmon was incredible. Super cosy and super friendly. I'm sure I'm coming back!

Yelp
Looking for a really great place with lovely staff and a warm environment? This is the place. Had one of their signature juices with pineapple. Delicious. Also enjoyed their yogurt parfait. Everything else that I saw come out of the kitchen looked delicious.

Yelp
Excellent! Modern industrial feel, calm atmosphere. Food is great, service was attentive. Asked if we wanted a menu in English, and gave us service in English. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great little place with a good atmosphere. We both had the benedict where the muffin had cranberries in it, adding a slightly sweet taste ( muffin was not toasted ). The vanilla milkshake was great. Coffees were decent, and they know how to make a cappuccino. Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved.

Yelp
We arrived mid morning and it was a seat yourself type of place. We had no idea what we were getting into, but just knew that if I didn't have food in my stomach within a short period of time that my attitude was going to be out of control. Waitress was sweet, accommodating to our specific menu requests, quickly served us drinks and food. My bagel sandwich was very tasty, not super chewy like a lot of bagels. Very cool space, relaxing environment, and would gladly go again.

Yelp
Such a cute and cozy Place for brunch or lunch. The pancakes and the Greek yoghurt were amazing and everything looked so good. Definitely worth a visit with friendly service

Yelp
Good coffee, pleasant decor, and spacious. But the WiFi requires log in to your social media accounts. It's the 21st century. Just provide WiFi to your customers.

Yelp
I really like the ambience in this place. It's got a bit of a hipster vibe, but not obnoxiously so. And the food is really good, especially their cakes. I've developed a bit of an addiction to their brownie cake. Their aero press coffee is a little pretentious, but tasty, worth a one time try

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Barcelona and on my honeymoon as well. We were super stoked to visit different neighbourhoods and randomly choose cool stops to eat and drink. When we approached Brew Dog and realised it wasn't opened yet we decided to grab a snack at OMA which is located right beside the bar on Casanova. When we walked into OMA we were greeted by a very snobby hostess. I thought it was part of the whole hipster cool deal so I did not give the poor greeting any mind. But it was when we waited for three minutes to be seated only for us to seat ourselves when a waiter came out if no where and yelled at us from across the room that the place we chose was for four people instead of two. I asked him where we should sit and he pointed at a very old and wore sofa from the eighties or two stools located right by the door. He said if we rather we could wait for an opening. We chose the sofa, and we sat it was like two inches from the ground. As a standard procedure I got up to go the bathroom to wash my hands in the water closet, only to notice there was NO SOAP! The container was dry, like not recently empty but like dry. So my first question was where do the employees wash their hands??? When I got back to our seat we had been moved to a two seater table across from a couple who was sitting at a four seated table. I took a double look because didn't the waiter just yell at us that these tables were reserved for four person parties? So I took deep breaths and waited for a menu to arrive. We waited, and waited while I watched three employees talk to each other, one circled the floor twice before making eye contact with me, the same guy who yelled at us. Now I don't know if it was because we were a biracial couple, tourists or both but the looks were not so friendly. Finally when the someone came to the table we explained it was our first time here and had no clue about the seating or how to order from their odd menu concept. So when we finally figured it out we ordered mimosas and chicken fingers with yogurt and mint dip. Then I asked him "where do the employees wash their hands?" He looked at me so oddly and said "what...why?" I told him I wanted to know because I was curious to know if they shared the same water closet with guests, he "yes we all use the same bathrooms." So I politely told him that there was NO SOAP! He apologised and said he would put some. I then watched him make the order and go and take two more orders from other tables, then seating another guests. (All while running his hands through his hair, wiping his nose with his fingers) My autistic husband went to wash his hands and came back complaining about their not being any soap for him to wash his hands and when he sat down there was water dripping from the above pipes. That is when things just went downhill for us because the waiter who yelled at us came back and told us not only did they not have anything make mimosas, (it's a brunch place) also they did not have the dip we ordered for our chicken and that we needed to hurry up because the kitchen closed in 45 minutes. I laughed and asked him if he washed his hands recently and he said "Yes!" I mentioned if he noticed there was NO SOAP. He got so defensive and said he would change it right now. He didn't he walked toward the snobby hostess and began talking smack. At that point we got up and left and sadly will never return for their sh*t infested food. Thank God the Brew Dog rocks! It made my day!

Yelp
overpriced. ridicoulusly small amount of scrambled eggs for 7 euros (my guess it is made of 1 egg). the guacamole tasted like vinegar. looks very trendy but disapointment
