OMAKAI hand roll bar

We went to the Omakai Handroll Bar location in Miami and got the Omakai Experience, which costs $34 for seven items: one sashimi and six handrolls. I thought it was a really good value overall. Omakase meals are usually pretty expensive, but everything we tried was fresh and delicious. I don’t think the exact items for the Omakai Experience were listed on the menu, but from what I remember, we got a Blue Crab Roll, Negitoro, Chilean Sea Bass Roll, Bay Scallop Roll, Unagi Roll, and a Bronzino Roll. The Chilean Sea Bass Roll was probably my favorite. Every roll was flavorful, well-balanced, and beautifully made. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is because of the service during the meal. When the rolls were being served, the person behind the counter would quietly mutter the names and quickly place the rolls on our plates. Since my wife and I both ordered the same experience, sometimes I couldn’t hear what roll was placed in front of me, and we found ourselves guessing what we were eating. When you’re doing an omakase-style meal, part of the fun is knowing exactly what you’re trying, so that small detail took away from the experience a bit. Aside from that, the food itself was excellent. We also ordered a few extra items, including the Baked Crab Roll and Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, both of which were fantastic. I’d definitely recommend getting one of their bundle options since you get great value for the price.

Everything at Omakai was amazing. The hand rolls were incredibly fresh and flavorful. We went with the pre-selected menu and also tried a few others every single one was so good. Shoutout to Sabrina for being so nice and making the experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

Phenomenal experience. Intimate, welcoming, and not the least bit pretentious. The fish was incredibly fresh and every course was delicious. I did the OMAKAI Experience and highly recommend it — great portions, excellent quality, and very reasonable for Miami. Fantastic service and overall exceptional value. Can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely excellent experience. Chef had worked in the sushi industry for over 10 years and was very personable. White staff were all personable. Every single role had distinct flavor and it was very clear that’s the fish was fresh and full of flavor. Scallops were great, price was so fair for the quality, highly recommend to anyone who cares about sushi for real.

Our server Angela was so helpful, attentive, and sweet. She made great menu recommendations, brought us our waters quickly, and checked in us a comfortable amount. The music was great! Our first chef was so great!!! I took 1 off the food bc i wish i could have had a cucumber avocado hand roll, but they only do them separate. Great place

This place is really good! It’s very casual and quick (but nice) meal. The sushi quality is really nice, seaweed is crisp, and the rice is well seasoned. Really loved my experience here- the staff, food, and atmosphere was really nice. Not much else to say! Solid spot for good food with reasonable prices.

The blue fin tuna was my favorite and the bar area was so cute . I loved the soft hand rolls . And the sweet waitress . The host Luis was very attentive . Great first time

The sushi here is truly exceptional—fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Every piece reflects great attention to detail, from the quality of the fish to the perfect balance of rice. The specialty rolls are creative without being overwhelming, and the nigiri is easily some of the best I’ve had in the area. The service is equally impressive. The staff is attentive, welcoming, and very professional. They make you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in, offering great recommendations and ensuring everything arrives promptly. Overall, an outstanding experience—both the sushi and the service are top-tier.

Omakai consistently delivers and is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami! Today was my first time trying the new hand roll bar in Downtown after stopping in solo for an early dinner, and WOW was I impressed! The space is sophisticated with a long counter, perfect for dining solo or with one other person. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations. Now for the food. All of the fish was incredibly fresh, the seaweed perfectly crispy and the rice cooked to perfection. Each roll was better than the next. I chose the Oma Bite and added an Unagi roll. The price for the amount of food is unbeatable. I will 100% be back here for another quick solo dinner or to try some more hand rolls from the chefs great recommendations.

Wow! The sushi here is some of the freshest I've had. It's made to order and served relatively quickly. There are plenty of options, including sashimi for those who enjoy it. If you're unsure what to order, they offer three sets of preset rolls, making the choice easier. The staff members were nice and quick to serve. You sit at a shared counter and get your sushi made to order, adding to the experience. The atmosphere is clean and casual. I'll definitely be back!

I've been to the Brickell location of the handroll bar and it was awesome, so when a friend invited me to check out the downtown location, I was excited to check it out. Compared to the Brickell location, the counter setup is a little more "bar-like" with a much longer stretch of counter seating vs more of a "u" shape, it it seemed like maybe it accommodates more people. We just beat the lunch rush going right before noon and were lucky, since there was a wait after we left. My friends and I all tried the "omakai experience," which was a preset handroll offering that also came with one sashimi dish. My friends and I just have been really hungry because we kept instantly scarfing down each handroll presented to us - I didn't even manage to get a pictures of the handrolls! But that's a good sign. The chefs kept up though and service was very fast but not stressful. I loved how crispy the nori was and the rolls were well-filled. Standouts for me were the scallop, toro-taku, and unagi rolls. Very delicious with reasonable prices - highly recommend.

Three of us came for lunch today & had the Omakai experience for $34. It consisted of 6 hand rolls (yellowtail, scallop, tuna, blue crab, loster & unagi) and salmon sashimi topped with onions. I was thrilled to not have to decide what to eat and was extremely happy that everything was fresh and delicious!! It was well worth the money. We all left very satisfied & I can't wait to come back!

A Streamlined Spot for Affordable and Tasty Hand Rolls The new Omakai Hand Roll Bar recently opened with a concept that is all about focus. This restaurant is entirely counter seating, making it less ideal for large groups but perfect for walk-ins and quick dining. The Menu: The menu is devoted to hand rolls, with a few sashimi options. Custom hand rolls are priced around $7-8 each, but the real value lies in the preset menus, where each hand roll averages about $5. Depending on your appetite, you can easily dine for around $20 with a preset menu or closer to $30 if you go the custom route. This competitive pricing is one of Omakai's key attractions. During our visit, we tried around 7 different hand rolls, including vegan options. While the fish wasn't the freshest or highest quality I've ever had, it was more than good enough for the price. Each roll delivered on flavor and offered a solid variety of options to explore. The Downside: The one issue we encountered was the construction of the hand rolls. They weren't built as sturdily as expected, making them difficult to eat without falling apart. This detracted slightly from the overall experience. Final Thoughts: Omakai Hand Roll Bar is a streamlined spot to enjoy some tasty hand rolls at an affordable price. It's not the place for a long, leisurely meal, but if you're looking for good hand rolls and quick service, it's a great choice. My Criteria: 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 star: This restaurant should be closed.
