The 20 Best Restaurants In Downtown Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Omakai Hand Roll Bar runs an efficient handroll operation perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner date. The sushi counter is walk-in only and a meal here can be as quick as 30 minutes. Our favorite order is the $24 oma deluxe, which comes with five thick handrolls ranging from albacore to negitoro. For those with a bottomless pit for a stomach, get the omakai experience—it comes with seven rotating handrolls for $34. And if you come during Happy Hour (from 3pm to 6pm), beers are just $3. There’s a bit of a handroll trend happening in Miami right now, but this spot has proven to be the best (and most filling) handroll deal of them all." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

The 14 Best Restaurants In Brickell - Miami - The Infatuation

"Dinner at a handroll bar in Brickell might sound like an expensive idea that’ll leave you hungry. But Omakai Hand Roll Bar is filling and pretty affordable. The oma deluxe is the best deal. For $24, you get five generously stuffed handrolls with an even layer of warm rice. If you want to be in control of your own handroll destiny, you can go a la carte and get an $18 uni to celebrate a promotion. Things tend to move fast here, which make it great for a last-minute date night, or a quick lunch between meetings." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

Virginia did amazing serving! The rolls were good too and fresh seafood. Will come back! There is valet parking in front of restaurant for $20. Also, they add the tip automatically, so you don't have a choice on how much to tip which I didn't like. I spent $42 dollars on food and tip was $10.

I was staying at the InterContinental Bayside and looking for some things to do nearby. It was a very short walk downtown from the hotel and easy to find. I love sushi and have never done an Omakase or hand roll experience. This place was awesome! I have a gluten allergy and they had gf soy sauce and were very knowledgeable on all the ingredients. Service was impeccable. Negi Toro Handroll was amazing I could have eaten like 10 of them! If I'm ever in Miami again I will be eating here again!

Excellent hand rolls, fast service. With several sets to choose from, it is an easy choice, and, of course, you can do a la carte. Delicious and fresh. Excellent choice for lunch or casual dinner.

I came in looking forward to a simple meal, I politely asked if my roll could be cut, and two different servers refused—told me, “If I do it for you, I have to do it for everyone,” and the other said, “I can only cut it if it’s to-go—do you want to leave?” I wasn’t asking for anything extreme, just a little accommodation. A little kindness would’ve gone a long way.

Yelp
Omakai consistently delivers and is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami! Today was my first time trying the new hand roll bar in Downtown after stopping in solo for an early dinner, and WOW was I impressed! The space is sophisticated with a long counter, perfect for dining solo or with one other person. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations. Now for the food. All of the fish was incredibly fresh, the seaweed perfectly crispy and the rice cooked to perfection. Each roll was better than the next. I chose the Oma Bite and added an Unagi roll. The price for the amount of food is unbeatable. I will 100% be back here for another quick solo dinner or to try some more hand rolls from the chefs great recommendations.

Yelp
Wow! The sushi here is some of the freshest I've had. It's made to order and served relatively quickly. There are plenty of options, including sashimi for those who enjoy it. If you're unsure what to order, they offer three sets of preset rolls, making the choice easier. The staff members were nice and quick to serve. You sit at a shared counter and get your sushi made to order, adding to the experience. The atmosphere is clean and casual. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I've been to the Brickell location of the handroll bar and it was awesome, so when a friend invited me to check out the downtown location, I was excited to check it out. Compared to the Brickell location, the counter setup is a little more "bar-like" with a much longer stretch of counter seating vs more of a "u" shape, it it seemed like maybe it accommodates more people. We just beat the lunch rush going right before noon and were lucky, since there was a wait after we left. My friends and I all tried the "omakai experience," which was a preset handroll offering that also came with one sashimi dish. My friends and I just have been really hungry because we kept instantly scarfing down each handroll presented to us - I didn't even manage to get a pictures of the handrolls! But that's a good sign. The chefs kept up though and service was very fast but not stressful. I loved how crispy the nori was and the rolls were well-filled. Standouts for me were the scallop, toro-taku, and unagi rolls. Very delicious with reasonable prices - highly recommend.

Yelp
Three of us came for lunch today & had the Omakai experience for $34. It consisted of 6 hand rolls (yellowtail, scallop, tuna, blue crab, loster & unagi) and salmon sashimi topped with onions. I was thrilled to not have to decide what to eat and was extremely happy that everything was fresh and delicious!! It was well worth the money. We all left very satisfied & I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A Streamlined Spot for Affordable and Tasty Hand Rolls The new Omakai Hand Roll Bar recently opened with a concept that is all about focus. This restaurant is entirely counter seating, making it less ideal for large groups but perfect for walk-ins and quick dining. The Menu: The menu is devoted to hand rolls, with a few sashimi options. Custom hand rolls are priced around $7-8 each, but the real value lies in the preset menus, where each hand roll averages about $5. Depending on your appetite, you can easily dine for around $20 with a preset menu or closer to $30 if you go the custom route. This competitive pricing is one of Omakai's key attractions. During our visit, we tried around 7 different hand rolls, including vegan options. While the fish wasn't the freshest or highest quality I've ever had, it was more than good enough for the price. Each roll delivered on flavor and offered a solid variety of options to explore. The Downside: The one issue we encountered was the construction of the hand rolls. They weren't built as sturdily as expected, making them difficult to eat without falling apart. This detracted slightly from the overall experience. Final Thoughts: Omakai Hand Roll Bar is a streamlined spot to enjoy some tasty hand rolls at an affordable price. It's not the place for a long, leisurely meal, but if you're looking for good hand rolls and quick service, it's a great choice. My Criteria: 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 star: This restaurant should be closed.
