The 18 Best Restaurants In Coconut Grove

"Similar to Omakai in Wynwood, the Coconut Grove location is a good place to have a casual multi-course sushi meal without having to shell out half a paycheck. There are three options to choose from, but the Oma deluxe is the best deal. For $50, you get an appetizer, ten pieces of nigiri, and two handrolls. And during lunch, it’s eight pieces of nigiri for $40. Stick to the deluxe, and don’t be tempted to get the $95 Omakai experience, which includes too many clunky nigiri overloaded with ingredients. So keeping it simple is the move here. Service moves fast—it feels like a speed date with sushi. You might not fall completely in love, but you'll be home in time for bed with a satisfied stomach. I am very pleased with Omakai's Happy Hour options. I had heard they offered amazing quality and freshness at unbeatable prices that was definitely the case. The staff was friendly and efficient. We sat by the bar, quite small, so plan accordingly, but the restaurant is appealing and family friend. We love how diverse the selection of food in the happy hour menu was and tried everything multiple times. Compared to other restaurants, they win in affordability without sacrificing taste. My only feedback will be to expand on the sake list. We will return.

Had an absolutely amazing time at Omakai Coconut Grove. The new space is beautiful and I love that each other has its own vibe and it’s not a cookie cutter restaurant. The staff was amazing and the service was top notch. The fish was super fresh and the courses came out in a very timely manner for h the amount of people we were with (we got the Oma Deluxe). I love all Omakai’s, but I would definitely go back to this one again soon!

Visited Omakai this Monday night walking in and such a 10/10 experience. Food quality was incredible for the price and our server Carla was really kind and knowledgeable about the sakes they had. Will definitely be coming back

A true sensory experience. The combination of dishes that the chef proposed for our Valentine's Day dinner was truly a marriage of flavours from another planet. Not to mention the privilege of receiving the attention of the staff with the surprise that our host was the owner of the restaurant. Thank you Nicolas... We recommend your gastronomic proposal without a doubt.

5 Stars – The Best Sushi Experience Ever! If I could give Omakai Sushi in Coconut Grove more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! I had the Oma Experience, and it was, without a doubt, the best sushi I have ever had. Every single bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly crafted. You can tell the chefs take immense pride in their work, and it truly shows. The service was just as outstanding as the food. From the moment I called to make a reservation, the hostess was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Her positive energy over the phone made me excited before I even arrived, and when we walked in, I immediately recognized her—it was the same girl! She radiated warmth and enthusiasm, setting the perfect tone for an amazing dining experience. If you’re a sushi lover (or even if you’re not), Omakai is a must-visit. The ambiance, the impeccable service, and the unforgettable Oma Experience make it a standout spot. I can’t wait to come back!

We tried the OMA deluxe course and each item was very well put together and delicious. The plates came out back to back with no wait time in-between. Mariana was very friendly and knowledgeable on all the ingredients and highlights of each piece. We'll surely be back!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had an incredible dining experience at Omaki in the Grove. He originally wanted to go all-in with the chef's experience which was 16 courses, but I wasn't sure I could handle that much food so we compromised and went with the Deluxe Experience which was 12 courses instead. And honestly, It was the perfect choice. Every single piece we were served was absolutely phenomenal. The attention to detail, the freshness of the fish, the balance of flavors. To top it off, we added the Wagyu Roll on the side, and that was a mouthwatering in itself. Rich, tender, and perfect. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, and the staff was great from start to finish. The tables a little close to ea h other but other than that we were completely impressed. Whether you're a sushi lover or just looking to treat yourself to something memorable, Omaki is 100% worth it, and reasonable compare to other omaki experiences. I'm already thinking about when we can go back, maybe next time I'll go for all 16 courses!

Yelp
This place is decent for sushi. I got their oma bite to go. It came in a really cute bento box that had instructions on which order to eat the pieces and which soy sauce to use for each piece of fish. Their edamame was good but could benefit from a little sauce. The oma bite is a good amount of food if youre not starving, but still hungry and want a good taste of sashimi, nigiri, and a sushi roll. Pretty good sushi, not the best tasting ive ever had, but really good place to order from when youre in a pinch.

Yelp
I have been here a few times now, and each experience has been fantastic. The servers are always so kind, and the service is top notch, without having a 'stuffy' feel. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, it is so nice to see the bustle of the Grove through all of the windows. I love that much of the restaurant is windows, but it also tucked away and a place to have a lovely meal. The sushi is fresh and yummy, and they add the prefect touch of flavor to a classic dish. I went for their first Sake Club with some friends and we loved it! They pair a sake with a dish (think Omakase with a paired sake). We learned a lot about sake, and had a great time! They will be changing the menu for this Sake Club every month. Highly recommend! My favorite from the Sake Club menu was the Torched Dorade (which I had never had before) and of course the Salmon Belly!! We also ordered from the regular menu, too. The Sake Club was $50/person. Will definitely be back next month for the next Sake Club!

Yelp
Overall delicious, but I wasn't aware I was given the lunch menu, as it was not written anywhere on the menu- not even under "Fall 2024". I recommend them to make this "Lunch, Fall 2024". This menu error resulted in a higher bill ($50 for deluxe vs. $40). It also resulted in there being too much food served to me. Am I mad? No. Annoyed? Most definitely. My social anxiety didn't let me address this at the table, too. Will I never go again because of this? Unlikely. Now down to business: I ordered the sushi deluxe, and it was delicious. I had a few pieces where I think the rice may have been undercooked, but I really couldn't tell. I loved the king salmon with lemon and sea salt. It was definitely my favourite. I encourage everyone to try the sashimi without any soy sauce, as the pieces were delicious as prepared. I also had jasmine green tea. The ambiance was cozy and intimate- would be a good date night spot. Would not be good for children. Service was very good as well. Plates were promptly removed- maybe a little rushed at times, but nothing impacting my dining experience. I do like when restaurants include service charge for wages, so they do get points there as well. Overall I'll go again because it was tasty and very reasonably priced- even with menu error.

Yelp
Omakase sushi style cuisine has been all the hype in Miami. I have been wanting to go for ages ! When a dear friend of mines bday came up I knew it was the perfect chance to go. We booked before hand for 3 people. Parking was easy. We went for the Oma Deluxe option for Omakase. Each dish was brought out one after the other. It was absolutely delicious. What stood out to me was the hand rolls. The service was great . The mochi was the only extra thing we ordered . I just wish it had a better bday celebratory option. Like it had happy bday written or a candle. Overall I highly highly recommend this spot for omakase ! We paid $55 dollars for the omakase Oma deluxe per person. They also have a vegan option. I am definitely coming back here. A great vibe . Good for a friends catch up or a date .

Yelp

Yelp
I had been waiting for a special occasion to finally try omakase so had dinner plans for the day after Valentine's Day. This restaurant feels so chic and clean - the ambience is amazing. Lighting isn't too dark. We did the mid tier omakase experience simply because they were not able to make adjustments to their more expensive experience-which looked amazing- which was a little disappointing but I can understand. Every single piece of nigiri and sashimi I had was amazing and fresh. I believe the mid tier was 12-15 pieces in total. My only regret is I came starving and event though I thought this was a very fair amount of pieces for the price I still left somewhat hungry. Service was also very good. Would come back here, hopefully their menu is seasonal and they rotate fish so that I can have different experiences here in the future

Yelp
Still come to this place but recently I have been having not so great experience because of the service. The hostess has said rude comments to us the past two times. And I mean really, when you're working the front of the house it's better not to say anything disrespectful to your customers. The past two times we've had to wait a good 20 minutes, at least, for our table despite having a reservation. This most recent time, I didn't enjoy the service from our waiter either. I get it, it's busy but the passive aggressive tone just gets old during the whole dinner. As for the food, it's always good but after coming here 5 times, it gets a little old. Don't get me wrong the fish is delicious and their plates are great. But, they don't change. I think for newcomers it's great and I also recommend to come during lunch. Every time I've come for lunch it's been a great experience, dinner not as much. Also I want to mention the second hostess came up to us a little after we sat to see if we were doing okay after waiting for so long (and maybe because she heard how rude her co-hostess was)!

Yelp
We came here because we heard such great things. It is such a cute little space . Loved the vibe here. Our server was very nice and he explained the menu very well. We got the deluxe I believe it was called where it comes with selections of the food vs trying to pick out things a la carte. I loved that. I was very full and satisfied at the end! Make sure you like sashimi and hand rolls because they do not offer sushi. I enjoyed my dinner and the price point is really good for great quality food. My favorite was the salmon at the start. Soooo good! Will return again!

Yelp
We returned a year later to take advantage of their Happy Hour! However, after doing performing quick math, we decided the OmaDeluxe would still be a bigger bang for our buck. This time around, the nigiri was much more impressive than the hand rolls. Unfortunately, our least favorite was our stand out our last visit-- the blue crab hand rolls. Perhaps it was the batch but that one really turned us off. It was a lot emptier than our last visit seeing as it was earlier in the night which was a plus. However, we believe that the overwhelming amount of constant service at our table was a result of this. There were about five different servers and food runners at our table switching out plates, etc. I know it takes a village but man did we feel rushed.

Yelp
Omakai was a fantastic experience start to finish -- the omakaze style makes for a fun, different dinner experience that feels more exciting than just ordering your own sushi. Most omakaze restaurants feel overly fancy and intimidating and while the food is incredible at omakai, it still feels approachable and casual enough for a night date night or dinner with friends. The basic dinner omakaze was enough for our dinner yet we didn't feel overly stuffed. Food: the food was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and you get a great variety with the prefix menu Atmosphere: the restaurant is really pretty and has an upscale vibe without feeling overly fancy or stuffy Service: we had an incredible server who was extremely attentive and made sure the food was timed out properly

Yelp
Yelpers, brace yourself for the best nigiri delivery box yet. What a beautifully and carefully prepared box of deliciously fresh sushi. Ordered the OMA bite, the cheapest option and added on 2 pieces of chutoro via uber eats. It was reasonable and beautifully prepared while being just as fresh as dining in the restaurant. The box even comes with a sauce dish. This elite yelper is VERY VERY IMPRESSED

Yelp
I went to Omakai on Friday for happy hour with my friends and I was truly impressed. First, I'll start off by saying that their happy hour prices are great and they have delicious options for both bites and wine or sake. We later had dinner and I got the Oma option. Every piece of sushi was delicious and had the perfect amount of flavors! I also feel like their pricing is great. Our server's name was Sierra and she was lovely. She was very knowledgeable on the menu items and was just a good vibe all around, which is refreshing to see. I must add that while we were there unfortunately one of the employees had a medical emergency and I was truly impressed on how the other employees reacted and helped their fellow coworker and kept the situation under control. Even after the medical emergency scare we still had a great time and delicious food. I will be back asap!

Yelp
Can I give it 6 stars? I usually HATE Omakase. Naeo will charge you $300 a head and give you 15 pieces of unflavored fish in rice. This was $50. We had 10 pieces of sashimi and 2 handrolls. Each piece of Sashimi was a completely different, unique and brilliant taste profile. My wife and I were STUNNED. I don't think we can ever go to a different Sushi spot and we have tried dozens of places in Miami. Makoto, Naeo, Pubbelly, Nobu....
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Virtually certain that I got food poisoning here from uni that was spoiled. The waiter and the kitchen admitted that it started to "turn" and told me not to eat the 2nd piece and took it back to the kitchen. When I came back several days later to talk to the manager, the waiter who told me it was turning lied to the manager about it and basically accused me of lying. I live down the street but would never go here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible service. When there was food missing from my takeout order I had to jump through hoops to get the issue resolved and was treated very rudely by the person on the other end of the phone.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for a date night and it did not disappoint! Service was amazing, only out down by the food itself. The sushi is high quality and beautifully presented. Looking forward to going here again.

Yelp
This OMAKAI experience was one of the best I've been to!! For anyone looking for an affordable omakai, look no further. For $55 you get a 10 piece course. The server was extremely knowledgeable and knew all about the different fish. He recommended the best sake! The basque cheesecake was to die for and paired well with the orange jam.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great sushi place with a fixed menu price where the deluxe version brings you different sashimi and sushi chef choices. The decor is nice and background music also good.

Yelp
Omakai my love sushi dreams, and sake hugs never a bad time // That, my friends is my love letter aka haiku to Omakai Sushi. I have adored this spot since it opened in Wynwood, and selfishly I am so happy to have it closer to home in the Grove. Omakase experiences are popping up all over Miami and they all have something in common - they are quite pricey. But NOT Omakai. You can enjoy the Oma delux - featuring TEN courses of nigiri, appetizers and hand rolls for $40. Yes, you read that right. They also have a more lavish experience which will cost you $95 - still a lot cheaper than many omakase experiences. Omakai also has happy hour Monday - Saturday from 3 - 6:30. My suggestion - pop in for a wine and a hand roll. You won't be sorry. My stand outs are always the blue crab hand roll, scallop nigiri and whatever the seasonal fish nigiri course may be at that time. The food here is always fresh, service is friendly and you can expect a solid meal for a great price every time. Follow them on IG to see when they launch new seasonal menus like salmon and caviar, wagyu, and other fun favorites. Omakai, heart hands to you. I truly never say no to dining here.
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
I ordered the $90 Omakai experience and my husband ordered the $50 Oma Deluxe. The pictures I posted are only of the Omakai experience. Happy I was able to try this so the next time I visit I will choose which nigiri I prefer. I enjoyed the Toro truffle & Hotate Truffle. Ichigo Sake cocktail was fresh and tasty. Sat quickly with a reservation. Service was ok at the hostess stand and at the table. Long wait to order another drink. One of the servers was bothered to takeaway an empty plate. A young host likes to up and down everyone that comes in. It was funny to watch but they should hire someone more pleasant. Nice dim room. Tight space. Good for date night. Few booths available for group of 4. They offer high chairs.
google avatar

Cristina O.

Yelp
I'm officially OBSESSED with this place & while I have always chose the "OMA Deluxe" on this date night, we decided to go with the full on OMAKAI Experience & it was WORTH IT! As usual, everything was delicious & perfect & fresh & amazing! I loved our waitress Rebecca who took very good care of us & was absolutely beautiful too! While I didn't eat 2 of the pieces (the Wagyu & the Unagi Foie Gras), my boyfriend was more than happy to oblige. The meal is so filling but we could not say no to dessert... to be extra decadent, we went with the Chocolate Sake(!) & the Matcha Panna Cotta. I could have died & gone to heaven. Perfect meal! Can't wait to be back very soon

Alexia Marie J.

Yelp
This place is far too expensive not to accommodate a common allergy like salmon. I'm really disappointed. While they were able to address shellfish allergies, they offered no flexibility beyond that. I even called ahead to make things easier for the kitchen and to avoid any risk of cross-contamination, but the staff was unhelpful and dismissive.
google avatar

Obee O.

Yelp
Definitely not your prototypical sushi spot. Decor is modern, drinks are decent, but it's "Omakase" style, which is apparently all the new craze. I ordered tier 3, which was the "most plentiful." It came with 15 pieces of sushi, soup and dessert for $100 dollars. The idea is great but again, Omakase, so three pieces at a time and almost an hour and a half total time. Do the math. Don't go hungry, but not bad for a date.
google avatar

Felix J.

Yelp
How do I say this without being disrespectful to an entire country, culture, or cuisine??? I've been to Japan and had good sushi but if I'm going to be honest... it was not as good as my two experiences at Omakai! There, said it!! The toro w truffle is to die for! The simple nigiri like torched tuna and salmon, the whitefish, and all else is absolute heaven in your mouth! The place is beautiful and I've always had great waiters who know the menu well. It's expensive but as far as I'm concerned, you get what you pay for! Btw... Gigi is an AMAZING server!
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
This was my second omakase experience and it was wonderful. I came with a group and our experience took around two hours and I was very full at the end. I love the interior of the place and the staff is very friendly and explains everything to you. If you're a picky eater I don't think this is your vibe or at least I would pick the a la carte options. For dessert we had the three selection of mochis and I was surprised that my favorite was the spicy chocolate one. I'm not a big fan of spicy foods but it wasn't that big of a kick.
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
Never disappoints! Staff is always super friendly, the food is always fresh and consistent, it's clean and spacious inside so you can eat comfortably. Great for lunch with colleagues or friends, date night for dinner, or just a quick and delicious solo meal in between running errands. Their happy hour menu is great if you need an excuse to catch up with friends or colleagues over a couple of drinks while snacking on delicious sushi.

Yelp
Omakai never fails to impress. This was my first time at the Coconut Grove location and it was beautiful and lively. It was full when we went in at 930 for our reservation. We did the Omakai Experience which I highly recommend. Each dish was incredibly unique and fresh. The service was outstanding and the staff is vey knowledgeable. Most certainly will be back again.
google avatar

Maria Eugenia C.

Yelp
This place is delicious. I went yesterday again and ate really well again :) Had the Deluxe combo which they bring little by little and every single piece is to die for. A must go!

Yelp
I'm giving Omakai 5 stars but they deserve 6 and more. What an amazing experience. We tried a different restaurant near by and they wouldn't accommodate us even though they were basically empty. We walked to Omakai and although the place is small and they had reservations they accommodate us. They asked us if they were to accommodate us if we were willing to leave within an hour and half. We agreed and we don't regret it. Troy, the manager, went out of his way several times to make sure we were having a great time and that we enjoyed the food. Every restaurant should thrive to have a manager as wonderful as Troy. Our server Dimitry was also wonderful. He helped us with the menu and all his recommendations were delicious. I'm so happy the other restaurant denied us. Thank you Troy and Dimitey!

Yelp
A friend invited me for dinner at Omakai since we were both craving sushi, and this spot was a pleasant surprise of an experience! We sat at the bar, getting the opportunity to chat with the very-friendly server staff and enjoy a bottle of red wine (I can't for the life of me remember the name!) but it was amazing and a perfect light pairing with our meal. We decided to get the scallop sushi and oysters on the side, but both do the Oma sushi dinner which included: An edamame appetizer, Sashimi Special which was a tuna and ponzu, Seasonal Fish Nigiri (2 pc), Kanpachi Nigiri (1 pc) , Salmon Nigiri (1 pc), Yellowtail Nigiri (1 pc), Bluefin Tuna Nigiri (2 pc), Hand Roll Special and Blue Crab Hand Roll. I remember my favorite sushi was the scallop and toro with the oysters being the best I've tried in a very long time or ever before! The staff was so warm and welcoming as well as the ambiance and environment; we even stayed for hours chatting and catching up without any distractions and service happening at the same time - which can seem rare for Miami. Also rare for Miami, was the very reasonable price point and high-quality food to match. I will be back, Omakai

Yelp
Terrible experience. Came here for Valentine's Day and both left hungry and dissatisfied. A rotating staff of waiters brought small, cold, often single-bite dishes to our table and immediately cleared them, more than once removing the plate between the time I picked up the food and before I put the bite into my mouth. Despite this somewhat extreme level of attention, we often waited 10-15 minutes between "courses." We also had no idea what to expect or how much food would come out, as there was no semblance of a menu. So many of these plates were not good. The only thing that had any flavor was the warm crab hand roll, absolutely delicious. We were given 17 pieces in total, served over the course of 2 monotonous hours. The restaurant was freezing, even my fiance was cold - and he is never cold. I counted 2 slices of tuna sashimi, one piece of Branzino, 3-4 unrecognizable white fish nigiri with skin on, an overly salty very small soup, a 4 piece nigiri (including one piece of white meat that was actually inedible as it could not be chewed through), a scallop with salmon roe that they called caviar on a plate with eel nigiri and an eggy sweet cornbread (served very cold), and a single, slightly overripe, lone strawberry on a plate for their special desert. 0/10 would not recommend.

Yelp
Top notch sushi! Had the deluxe which included a wide range of different sushi. The service is top-notch and the restaurant is beautiful. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for high quality sushi.

Yelp
HH needs a reservations. My Son who is a rare fish expert said the HH special were low grade tuna . The rolls were small . The sake was perfect . The service and ambience great ..I like tempura and I did see I.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Small portions, presentation was good, hot green tea not so good. It would require a trust fund to fill your stomach here. It appears to be a "selfie spot", you know, I 've eaten there...as if it's a privilege. Sushi in Miami has a long way to go to stand next to other States (California, Hawaii, etc.) High dollar Miami restaurants are all about profit unfortunately. I may begin asking Jimmy Flannigan to serve his Mahi filet to me rare. This 50 year Grovite isn't fooled.

Elisabeth W.

Yelp
In-house dining is 4 or 5 stars. Fish is fresh and tasty. Service is good but delivery or pickup has an extremely limited menu. No takeout of soup or any other appetizers that are not cold. We eat in fine but think we will order elsewhere for takeout. Hope management reconsider their takeout menu

Yelp
We went for the first time per a colleague's recommendation a few weeks ago. We got Oma and Oma Deluxe and enjoyed our dinner very much. Compared to the sushi places we go to in NYC, Omakai is a great deal! We plan to make it a regular stop whenever we are in Miami. The place was packed so I suggest you make a reservation.

Yelp
Came here this past weekend with some great friends and I have to say that OMAKAI is like the ultimate sushi experience. Everything that we asked for was absolutely delicious with some nigiri that was mouthwatering and some that just melts in your mouth like the Wagyu A5 nigiri. We had so much from the menu that I couldn't even name them but as I mentioned overall a real good experience. All the nigiri and hand rolls were beautifully presented. The wasabi went along really good and not very overpowering and you don't feel that spicy sensation as compared to getting it in other places. Great service and very professional as well and the atmosphere very modern. Really enjoyed OMAKAI.

Yelp
Been here 2 times in 1 week and can't wait to go back. The sushi here is so freaking delicious. Great service too. Love the way they bring out the food in courses and explain what it is. Prices are great for the amount of food you get. this is one of the few omakase sushi spots where you will leave stuffed. Highly recommended this spot for any sushi lover.

Yelp
Omakai is not spoken about enough. This service is excellent, the ambiance is elevated, and the food is so tasty. Compared to many of the other omakase places in Miami, the prices are reasonable which is what makes it so special. They offer the OMA for $38 and the OMA Deluxe for $50. I have tried both and thoroughly enjoyed each option; all boasting a wide variety of fresh fish and different flavors. And if you are still hungry at the end, you have the option to order anything additional off the menu. Wide array of sakes and wines to choose from as well. Even the takeout is presented very well; love this place and will continue to recommend it to everyone.

Yelp
So delicious. We did the tasting menu for a special celebration and it did not disappoint. We did the OMAKAI Experience which gave us 15 courses and we had to go back for seconds of our favorites. One of my favorite bites was the O-toro with on top. I also really loved their oyster, fatty tuna with caviar and the blue crab roll. It was fun ending with the miso soup which makes sense to finish the meal.

Yelp
To be honest, this was my first omakase restaurant and I loooved it!! Quality was delicious, service was great, ambiance was cozy! My server, Jesse, was very attentive and answered every question I had. I took my toddler and she had a blast too since she loves sushi as much as I do. I forgot to take pics of every dish I had but I left feeling satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a cute date night or even a Sunday brunch vibe.

Yelp
Delicious and super fresh We had a taster menu and weren't disappointed (but still slightly hungry lol) The portions are very small and a bit prices but worth the quality
