Great service, and even better sushi! The service was very attentive without being overwhelming. Fine Japanese hospitality. The sushi was very good, just look at the pictures and go make a reservation. For $89 it’s worth it. Though DO make sure you tell them ANY food allergies. The wagyu has grated macadamia on top. I’m fine, but I know some other people might be allergic to tree nuts.

From beginning to end we were delighted by the omakase experience at Kun Tsuki. Each piece of fish or meat was at the peak of freshness and quality. The chefs’ technique was also a joy to watch, they assembled the dishes with care and precision. Highly recommend Omakase by Kun Tsuki, it’s a fantastic value for NYC.

Google
If you're like me, always looking for a great value in Omakase, Kun Tsuki is definitely worth the trip and the money. Excellent service, intimate environment, and a wonderful 18 course menu for the price ($85 plus tax and tip). Highlights were their exceptionally tasty take on miso soup, the toro with caviar, salmon with foie gras, and miso crisp with toro and uni. They also leaned into spice the night I went, using a variety of pepper based sauces, which I really enjoyed. For uni fans--you won't be disappointed. There's was exceptionally good, bending toward the sweet. For people who don't enjoy aburi nigiri (torched or seared)--probably 4 or 5 pieces were aburi. All and all, it's a great value, a lovely atmosphere and a wonderful menu.

Google
An Exceptional Dining Experience From start to finish, this restaurant delivered an outstanding experience. The staff--Jason, Kevin, and Chef Wing--were not only personable but also impressively knowledgeable. They were eager to share insights about the food, including its origins, preparation techniques, and even the specific temperatures at which it was served. One of the highlights was the open kitchen concept, where we could watch our dishes being prepared right in front of us. The food arrived quickly, fresh, and perfectly executed. Any questions I had--whether about specific dishes or sushi options--were met with prompt, thoughtful responses. It's rare to find such a combination of quality, transparency, and service. I'll definitely be back and will also spread the word (even though it would be best for this hidden gem to stay hidden).

Google
This was such a great experience. Everything from food to service was 10 out of 10. We did the omakase and each bite was absolutely excellent. Probably one of the best value for money restaurants I have gone to in quite a while.

Google
We tried the 18 courses for $80 omakase. There is also a cut down version of 10 courses for $45. I found the appetizers before sushi a bit underwhelming. But all courses of sushi actually came out very good, with fresh fish, a good combination of ingredients and flawless seasoning. My only complaint was that the sushi was too small, to the point where after 17 courses I was still not quite full (which is unusual) but the dessert was filling. The owner offered a 20% discount card for us to visit next time so I may consider it!

Google
Would’ve been an easy 5⭐️, but we had an 8:45pm omakase reservation and weren’t seated until 9:10pm. We were already hangry by then, which took away from the experience. especially since this was our first time encountering a delay like this at an omakase spot. Food was great and definitely top 5 in the city for me but the timing was poorly managed. The earlier group didn’t seem rushed at all, and there was no urgency to seat us. Wonder what time they started. We were just given water and left waiting 25 minutes. Honestly, if we had been 25 minutes late, I doubt we would’ve been accommodated. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Google
An amazing little gem in the big city. Each of the 18 courses provided unique and fantastic flavors. The quality of the ingredients made a huge difference - the soft and rich fish, the hints of quality wasabi - everything. Would highly recommend, such a great experience.

Yelp
Kun Tsuki Omakase Xtra is a total hidden gem. The fact that it's right near my house feels like I hit the sushi jackpot. The value is incredible, the service is outstanding, and the fish is unbelievably fresh. The vibe is relaxed and inviting. The staff is warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They make you feel welcome the second you walk in. The omakase? So fresh it might as well have come straight off the boat. Each piece is expertly prepared and thoughtfully served. No gimmicks, just quality ingredients handled with care. The appetizers are also a highlight. The shrimp head miso soup is rich, savory, and absolutely packed with flavor. One time they served monkfish liver and I'm still thinking about it. Creamy, bold, and perfectly balanced. And yes, the unlimited sake is very real. Good pours, great temperature, and somehow still included in the price. You feel like you're getting away with something. I've been to omakase spots all over the city. This one holds its own and then some. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
With sooo many new omakase restaurants opening up, it really seems like they all serve the same fish or have the same offerings. This spot in particular I was pretty impressed as they have an 18 course, which includes 2 appetizers, 1 miso soup, 13 nigiri pieces, 1 hand roll, and 1 dessert. The fishes are fresh and once you get to the fattier pieces later in the course, you start to drool. The two appetizers that we started out with are unique and were a great way to start the course. This was followed by a shrimp miso soup, which was not salty and pretty refreshing compared to other miso soups. The nigiri is served from lean to fatty. I fell in love with the salmon and foie gras piece and the otoro and sturgeon caviar pieces. It doesn't get any better than this. This ended with a tiramisu piece that tasted like a Klondike bar. Overall, this is worth the $98 due to the high quality pieces.

Yelp
The timing of the service here wasn't great. Our first course (miso) came out before we'd ordered drinks. And it often felt like we were still chewing when the next piece of fish was placed in front of us. That said, I understand the Theatre District goal to get people in and out quickly. (We were in and out very very quickly, LOL.) The food was very good, and it feels like $85 for an 18 course omakase is a pretty good deal. We particularly enjoyed one of the appetizers -- a seaweed cracker -- but all the nigiri was nice. Certainly not the best, but nothing was bad -- not remotely. I liked the dessert too: a very small piece of tiramisu with what seemed like rice crisps in it?

Yelp
$85 for 18-piece omakase + BYOB is a great deal to find in the city - only pay $10 corkage fee and enjoy! Honestly can't wait for my next visit! The service was great and they already had our pieces lined up and ready to go. Everything was very fresh and delicious - I particularly enjoyed the Wagyu piece: melted in my mouth. There's limited seating so it feels more intimate but the staff is also very inviting and welcoming, so the space feels more comfortable.

Yelp
Good omakase deal. The food is done well, but don't expect 5 star service. There's a nice variety in the omakase set. The chef does an excellent job of creating pieces with a flair. There's use of yuzu, jalapeños, and an assortment of other flavors. I am normally not a big fan of uni, live scallop, sweet shrimp... but here I loved every piece! The ambiance is fairly simple. Recommend getting chef-side bar seating if possible. Bathroom is clean.

Yelp
Overview: 18 courses for $89 (before tax/tip) is a great deal and the quality of the nigiri was outstanding for this price point. There is the counter and side table, I recommend the counter. This place has only been open for 3 months, I can see it getting busier with time. I think that there is a 20% discount somewhere you might can find online for reservations during the weekdays. Service: Everyone was super friendly and happy, good mood throughout the night. I would only suggest that the timing of the items be a little less rushed. At times, the chef would place 2 pieces on your plate before you're done chewing. Food: My favorite scallop piece in the city so far. The sea bream was also pretty memorable. Loved the matcha custard at the end. The pieces are on the smaller side, but with 18 courses, I was pretty satisfied. Would happily come again!

Yelp
Kun Tsuki is the best bang-for-your-buck omakase I've had in the city. For $85, you get 18 courses of insanely fresh sushi, and every piece had a unique flavor profile that highlighted the fish instead of overpowering it. The pacing was great and the staff was super welcoming, making the whole experience even better.

Yelp
Food 4/5 Value 4/5 Service 4.5/5 (deduct a little bc they forgot one of our friend was allergic to shrimp) Came here for galentines and ambience was great! But caveat that all pieces felt extra small about half the size you would typically get? 18 course for $90 seems worth but the size of each piece makes it just okay Hamachi 4/5: decent yellow tail but not a fan of the honey mustard combo Shiso leaf with uni 3/5: liked the shiso leaf but not the uni Kampachi 4.5/5: slowly getting better Miso soup 4/5: enjoyed the miso soup and loved the mushrooms but wish it had more flavor Seabream 4.5/5: tasted fresh and good Fluke 4.5/5: it paired well with the spicyness Spanish mackerel 4.5/5: very smooth and juicy Sable fish 5/5: loved the smokiness and flavor was full of umami Squid 4.5/5: enjoyed the squid very fresh to the mouth Scallop 4.5/5: tasted fresh but the wasabi was a little too strong for this one Sweet shrimp 3.5/5: looks fresh but doesn't taste that fresh Salmon 5/5: very delicious maybe one of my faves here Blue fin tuna 4/5: good flavor but not too smooth Fatty tuna with caviar 5/5: very gooood, exactly what you can expect from fatty tuna but also veryyyyy thin Fresh water eel 4/5: usually enjoy my eel more but this one was just okay Wagyu 4.5/5: amazing which is what you can expect from Wagyu but literally half the size where you get at other omakase restaurant so def disappointed in size

Yelp
I heard about this new spot through social media and immediately booked a reservation to check it out. $85 for 18 courses is an absolute steal but lots of places have hopped onto the trend of "$100 and under omakase", so what is crucial is the quality and service that can set them apart. Since this spot is new, there weren't many people, but I believe that should soon change. I enjoyed all my pieces but I will throw out my small gripe very quickly. The fish to rice ratio was just slightly off in my opinion. Some of the pieces sometimes didn't seem to have enough rice and so it would sort of be a bit difficult to easily pick up. This only happened to a couple pieces, not all. The tiramisu at the end also tasted a bit off, like it was stored for a while since the texture was a bit harder than a typical tiramisu. Other than that, I truly had so much fun dining here and the quality of the fresh was very fresh. The service here is wonderful as well. I noticed how attentive they were to each customer and made sure they were comfortable. They had even pulled out my chair for me and after each customer was finished dining, they would clean and sanitize the area and replace the mats. The chefs were also incredible. I had a lovely time chatting with one of the chefs who I had learned had been in the sushi business for about a decade! They speak Chinese here and I was able to converse with them and I could hear how proud he was of each piece which I absolutely adored. The chef made the experience really enjoyable and he was working very diligently on each piece. From the preparation of each fish, to the intricate cuts, and portions of every individual piece - this is why you pay for omakase.i am excited to come back and so happy that they are having such a successful start to their business!

Yelp
Service was great and efficient and for that alone, I'm giving 3 stars. Overall, the food was incredibly mid. The fish, ranging from uni, mackerel, hamachi, tuna, etc. was overpowered by the globs of wasabi, hot sauce, or truffle paste. The quality of the fish when we could taste it was meh. The pieces were pre-sliced and kept in a box until it was time to put them together and my friend noticed that several pieces were drier than others. The only standout pieces from the whole set were the salmon and the scallop. The chef that we were put with seemed a bit nervous about serving and often whispered the fish so we didn't know what we were eating at times.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
At @kuntsukiomakase, it was more than just dinner. It was a whole experience where the chef guided us through textures and flavors. Each piece was a masterpiece -- from melt-in-your-mouth tuna to uni that tasted so fresh. My faves are Hamachi and Sweet Shrimp with Uni. This place is a must-try especially with their amazing Lunch Menu 10 course for $45 (60 mins seating) and Dinner menu 18 course for $89 (75 mins seating) which includes 13 Pieces of Sushi, 1 Hand Roll, 2 Appetizer, 1 Soup, 1 Dessert. You can bring your own alcohol or purchase there.

Yelp
OMG. Five stars isn't enough. This was a totally random find for me close to my hotel and the entire meal (and value for the money) is insane. It's an $85 omakase but I'd have paid easily twice that for the value. The service is a bit rough (not bad, just not perfectly nuanced) but this place could win a star. Seriously try it.

Yelp
New omakase spots emerging are the best thing ever and this one in Hell's Kitchen proved to be a quality pick! From the unlimited sake to a variety of nigiri, apps, and dessert in their $85 18-course and a current 50% off a la carte items, this should be your next omakase reservation. The service was top notch and the sushi chef was super skilled. The amberjack, scallop, sweet shrimp, and fatty tuna were some of my favs. The nigiri was so soft and succulent. They also serve a hot miso soup and seaweed tempura. At the end, the tiramisu was superb. Better than some that I had at dessert places!
google avatar

Lenny Y.

Yelp
Amazing affordable omakase. Has the 18 course omakase for just $85. And same is free (nice mild and sweet sake was perfect) Courses were all good but standouts were wagyu beef, fatty tuna, seared salmon and uni appetizer. Hope the prices don't go up as this is a very good value meal
google avatar

Chanel N.

Yelp
A great budget Omakase experience. Many pieces were great but plenty were just average but who am I to complain for an $85 price tag and with plentiful included house sake. We were seated about 10 mins after our reservations, they seem to run over as the next seating also was delayed. I enjoyed many pieces including the Waygu and toro + caviar. I wanted to know about the toppings of pieces but they only told you what the fish was, which was disappointing and I had to go out of my way to ask. Overall I think the price is excellent for the value. Plenty of great flavors! But not the best omakase in the city
google avatar

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
Fantastic quality sushi with a creative twist on combinations (e.g. taco seasoning, caviar, etc.) Great value for 18 courses, especially with the unlimited sake, which was very good. The only thing I'll note is that the portion sizes were tangibly smaller than normal, but overall still a great deal and very happy

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended from my cousin. It is nestled on the quiet corner of 51st St and 10th Ave. We arrived a little bit early ahead of our 6:15pm reservation but the staff allowed us to sit at a small bar table and offered us the drink menu to start. Since it was so cold, we got a nice hot cup of tea to warm up. Although for $4, I wish we could have gotten a bigger cup. The omakase was an 18 course meal that included seafood miso soup and a dessert at the end. The fish was so fresh and at $85, the price cannot be beat! They also offer 50% off for a la carte pieces and unlimited sake for dine-in eaters. Reservations are required. I do highly recommended trying this new omakase place out!

Yelp
Came here for an omakase seating at 6:30 and this did not disappoint! The food was spectacular--fresh fish, well balanced, complimenting flavors, and a decent amount of food so you didn't leave hungry! The presentation of the food and also the whole restaurant decor was focused, natural, and beautiful. The service was also very prompt with new plates and clearing old ones. For a basically brand new restaurant, this was a gem! Would love to come back here!

Yelp
Recently opened and seems pretty good so far. Decent sushi, maybe not the best Omakase I've had but reasonably priced at $85 and right now, there's no corkage fee! I think they could also do a lot more since they stated in the local news that they would be different from other Omakase places since they have a full kitchen. Sadly, it doesn't seem like they are taking advantage of it just yet. Overall, I think it's worth visiting for a decent omakase.

Yelp
Five star no question about it. The experience was amazing in this place to steal for what you get for the money. This will be a regular when I visit New York.

Yelp
What a great Omakase experience! The sushi was amazing, the fish fresh, service exceptional and with the value of $85 you also get unlimited sake! I was in NYC for a week and this was one of the best meals (as I had a few michelin restaurants and a lot of street food) Don't miss out on this hidden gem!
google avatar

Yelp
this spot serves 18 courses for $85 and it was absolutely delicious. the fish was fresh and not chewy. it had a good rice ratio. the rice didn't fall apart from the fish. he explained every piece to us and they accommodated for my shrimp allergy. the interior is clean and simple. my fav pieces were the salmon and fatty tuna. definitely a spot worth checking out!

Yelp
This is very authentic Omakase and the best sushi that I've had in NYC thus far. I grew up in NY, but lived in Los Angeles most of my life right next to some of the best sushi restaurants outside of Japan. I even took classes at the California Sushi Acadamy, so you can trust me when I say that Kun Tsuki is amazingly good. The sushi, the service, the price, and the atmosphere were all truly awesome and I highly recommend this amazing high-end sushi restaurant!!!

Yelp
Three weeks old, newly. 18 course omakase for $85! Endless delights from the sea from chef John. Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Great service with a smile.
google avatar

Yelp
A brand new Omakase that I had to try before it becomes popular. They've only been open for a week. What a wonderful place to experience omakase. Each Nigiri was heavenly! and the host and chef John were so gracious and friendly. Lastly, the price point is spectacular for New York City: lunch 10 course is $45; dinner 18 courses is $85!!!

Yelp
5 stars for the combination of food quality & price. Especially with the 20% off and the free sake they offer. Nice service also . I've been twice already and plan to go for a 3rd time.

Morgan C.

Yelp
Best omakase I have ever heard! Chef and service really made our experience special. Dishes were innovative and crossed a wide variety of fish and they made sure to check on allergies and preferences ahead of the meal. Wing and Jason made this a truly unforgettable experience! Will be coming back

Leslie U.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin on how amazing this place is. It was my first time doing omakase so not sure how it compares. The pieces were amazing and both me and my mom left full. The chef was incredibly kind and friendly. The waiters went above and beyond and were constantly refilling waters, tea and refilling free sake (added pro) and checking if we needed anything. The ambiance is super nice and calm. Cannot rave about how amazing this experience was.
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
Service was top-notch. The sushi was awesome. Was a great experience. Def recommend and would come back.

Dani R.

Yelp
Go here ASAP before it's impossible to get a res... this new omakase spot is WORTH EVERY PENNY! For $85 you get 18 courses with unlimited sake and 50% all extra pieces... this deal is unheard of! You get every single type of piece ranging from ikura, sweet shrimp, uni, toro and scallop! Not every restaurant with low prices gives all of those and thus one does! The tempura shiso leaf with uni was so unique and I love how they give cooked dishes, like a soup and chicken skewers, too. This place is worth a go and truly AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Catherine E.

Yelp
good, but the "18 courses" was more like 10 plates? so im not sure how they're counting it haha. at the end of the meal, i feel satiated but not incredibly full? my friend and i are going for more food now haha. it is tasty though and fairly affordable so worth the try! many of the sushi were topped with foie gras, caviar, truffles, so definitely luxurious.

Lisa W.

Yelp
This is my new favorite of the field of under $100 omakase around the city. The omakase counter experience is a great combo of high quality fresh fish, great service and a simple elegant setting. Highlights included sea bream, ama ebi, salmon with foie gras (wow), perfectly seared wagyu, and yellowtail pickle hand roll with impossibly crispy nori. Tuna with uni was another star. The rest of the menu on the night we visited included amberjack sashimi, a delicious miso soup with shrimp head and clams , bluefin, chu toro, scallop, squid, bass, king salmon, spanish mackerel, unagi, and cod -and,each beautifully cut with touches of paired toppings like smoked sea salt, lime zest, chili garlic and grated ginger. These small touches were well paired to enhance or complement each fish and not overwhelm or distract. Combinations were judicious and served a purpose, in contrast to some that feel like a blob of expensive ingredients that just fight so none can be fully appreciated. If I had to pick one nit, a piece or two were torched too closely or flame could have been adjusted so there was a slight butane taste but generally torch was used sparingly and gently to enhance, delivering silky tender results. Highly recommend!
