I took my niece here for her birthday dinner since she is a big omakase fan. We both thought the meal was wonderful. The dinner is currently 16 courses. Per the website, it is: 2 Appetizer, 10 Pcs Nigiri, 2 Chef Special Course, 1 Hand Roll, 1 Dessert. Candidly, we lost count.
I remember thinking at the beginning of the meal, that we could always order more from the a la carte menu if we were still hungry. By the end of the meal, we forgot to ask even to see the a la carte menu for future reference.
Everything was just delicious. I can be a picky eater. My niece will eat everything. The only thing I passed on (after a taste) was the eel. I've just never liked eel much. And at the beginning, I let the waitress know that I didn't eat mackerel, but apparently there was none scheduled to be served as part of the meal anyway. I remember the sushi courses included scallops, salmon, ikura, toro, sweet shrimp, pomfret, and I'm blanking on the others but it was all delicious. Most of the nigiri sushi had something else on top. In one case it was beluga caviar; in another it was uni. I also remember one with fois gras. The plated dishes included a fried oyster and a really tasty udon soup with crabmeat. There was also a wagyu nigiri. Dessert was two little wedges of key lime cheesecake, also yummy.
We both had a Sapporo with the meal, and when I finished mine, I tried a yuzu soda, which I liked a lot.
On our way to the restaurant we passed a favorite ice cream chain and my niece commented that we'd need to stop there for dessert. By the end of the meal, we agreed that ice cream would have to wait for another day.
My niece is an aficionado of omakase and had been treated to some high-end ones by her father and grandfather. Despite the significantly lower price at Kun Tsuki, she decided that this was right up there in quality with the others.
We've decided that this will be our new tradition for her birthday every year.
