Omakase RI

"Inspired by the “dive” bars of Tokyo, the ambience in this exclusive dining space for just 10 guests is relaxed and informal. Japanese-Brazilian chef William Vargas offers an Omakase menu, as part of which he presents and explains the names and origin of the fish he will be preparing. The experience consists of 15 courses, including delicacies such as “salongo”, served with its skin flambéed and a cold miso broth, and a delicate tuna dish served in nori seaweed which melts in the mouth. You’ll also love the excellent choice of saké on offer here." - Michelin Inspector

How does one give more than five stars? The food, the atmosphere, the impeccable service, Gabi, the seating, the vibe, the music—did I mention Gabi? We were absolutely dazzled. Every dish was prepared with such care, and each bite was a burst of flavor. The entire evening flowed effortlessly, thanks to the genuinely cool and welcoming vibe the hosts created. By the end of the night, we were singing “Happy Birthday” and posing for a Polaroid, sad that the experience had come to an end. For context: I’m a New York snob who is very picky about the quality of sushi and the overall omakase experience (see my other review on Kabuki Lisboa). I’ve been to many top spots, and Ri Omakase still completely blew me away. The food is indescribably good, but it’s the full experience that makes it truly magical. And trust me, I hate crowds and small talk with strangers. It’s not my thing. But at Ri? It felt different. Comfortable. Special. Just be sure to book well in advance. We had the 9:30 p.m. seating and didn’t get home until after midnight—Gabi and team, thank you for such a gracious and unforgettable night!

Great atmosphere - young and relaxed. Nicest staff. Very good food. Fun to see the cooking process right in front of you. They change the menu often depending on what’s best for the season / for the day - the structure however remains similar. Def worth the visit! Entrance is a bit hidden - find the number and head downstairs to the right!

One of the best omakase experiences I’ve had. From beginning to end, the entire staff was extremely nice and hospitable. The service was exceptional. For 90 euro pp, I would say this experience is definitely worth it. I’ve never had a better scallop in my life, it was insane. But, the rest of the courses were amazing as well. The yuzu elderflower lemonade was also very good. Would definitely recommend to come here if you’re craving sushi.

It was hands down one of the best experiences I had in Portugal - or actually the best one. Everything, starting with the WhatsApp message to help to get to the restaurant, the emails, everything went so smoothly. Then you are welcomed by beautiful Gabi, with a smile that really brights up the whole place. She is amazing and the service IMPECCABLE, my glass was never empty and I never had to ask. And to see them working is like watching a dance, everything looks synchronized without being rehearsed. The food is just brilliant, brilliant, the chef Will was so inspiring and generous, he shared so much knowledge with us, and this elevated even more the whole experience! The quality of ingredients, the freshness, all the 15 dishes, ending in an amazing dessert. I am in awe. I strongly recommend it and will for sure go back as soon as possible.

I’ve had the chance to dine at some great restaurants in my life, but Omakase Ri truly took me on a journey. Everything was executed to perfection, down to the smallest detail. Exceptional quality, local ingredients, elevated with finesse. The decor strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. And most importantly, the team is simply amazing. Huge shoutout to Will, Gabi, and the whole crew: their positive energy, their smiles, the precision, the flow… everything was spot on without ever feeling stiff. You’re welcomed like an old friend and served with the care of a top-tier restaurant. Even the playlist was just right, everything flowed, everything felt right. A suspended moment. If you’re coming to Lisbon and don’t go to here, you’re honestly missing out.

I went to Omakase Ri yesterday to celebrate my 45th birthday and let me tell you, this was the best meal I ever had. What made our experience even better, the host Gabby and the chefs Warley and William, were so welcoming and knowledgeable. We had the best time and cannot wait to come back!

What an experience! Apart from the delicious and one of a kind food, the service and ambiance was impeccable. Very attentive, easy to speak to and just plain friendly service team with a contagious passion for what they do. Paired with the very cozy and exclusive feeling ambiance, it was one of the best food experiences I had so far. For 2 hours you are able to dive into a different world and guided through each and every dish on the way. Definitely a 5* experience!

What an unforgettable experience! For a few magical hours, it felt like we were back in Japan. This is an intimate dining experience with real soul—just 10 seats per service, creating a cozy, exclusive atmosphere with plenty of character. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest smile. Gaby is an incredible host—her energy is rare and infectious, a true standout in the restaurant world. The food? Absolutely outstanding. Every dish was meticulously prepared right in front of us by the chef, and each bite—from the first to the last—was a delight. The ingredients are top-quality, and the attention to detail is evident in every plate. The sake selection was also a highlight. Thoughtfully curated and perfectly paired with each course, it elevated the entire dining journey. The service is beyond words—flawless, attentive, and filled with genuine warmth. And the atmosphere? It’s what ties everything together. From the perfectly chosen music to the engaging conversations with Will and Gaby, the vibe here is something truly special. I won’t spoil the details—part of the magic is discovering them yourself—but if you’re a fan of omakase-style Japanese cuisine, this place is an absolute must. Highly recommended.
