Omega Music

My brother in law bought my some records last year with RSD. This year as a Dutchy I had to pleasure to scroll through their amazing inventory. For everybody there is a pick. New, second hand, memorabilia. What a big and great Record Store. Is worth absolutely a visit when you are in the Dayton area.

Probably my favorite record shop in the Dayton area. Great selection of vinyls in every genre imaginable. There's some fun discounted mystery bags full of older records that you can pick up if you're feeling adventurous. There's a little bit of music related merch like patches, stickers, shirts, & books. Staff always seem really cool & friendly. I also appreciate that they work with local charities & donate to them when you skip getting a bag. I wish more businesses operated like this!

I've been an analog enthusiast for 15 years and have always loved Omega Music. I bought a new album from them for Christmas and it had a horrible hiss on it, unlike any normal pops and cracks that naturally go with listening to records. Asked Omega if there was anything they could do and they said they would clean it and if it was still there they could do an exchange for another version of the same album - Cool! When I took it in for cleaning, and without listening to the album, they told me what I was hearing was due to listening with headphones and that's just what vinyl sounds like. I have hundreds of albums, some original pressings from decades ago, and none hiss like this, headphones or otherwise. Attendant listened on speakers and admitted he heard it and offered to clean for free - great. Went to pick it up a couple days later. Got home, still hissed in a way that made it almost unlistenable on headphones. Admittedly, it was not as bad on my speakers but still a distraction. Held off on calling for a few days because I didn't want to make a fuss. Finally called and another attendant offered to replace the record for me since it still hissed. When I showed up, the new attendant told me - again without listening - that the hiss came from listening to vinyl on headphones. Instead of replacing the album, since they couldn't "repeat" my problem, they bought it back from me...for less than half of what I paid for it. Ended up buying another copy of the same album. Got it home - no hiss. I know they're a business and have to make their money but their condescension about what vinyl sounds like on headphones and failure to make good on their offer to replace my album made this an endlessly frustrating experience. Will not be returning in a rush.

This is one of the premier places to peruse for vinyl, collectible albums, limited edition sets, and other uncommon (or rare) music-related paraphernalia. They're very reasonably priced with an eclectic and impressive selection of national and local artists, and the staff is helpful and friendly. They also have designated parking, which is a huge bonus!

What a vibe! Cool, well stocked, extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Perfect for picking up the hot new release or hunting down old classics. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

Visted this store 2/7/2024.....1st time customer..... store is pretty big and has alot of selections/genres. If you can't locate a particular record just ask someone at the counter and they can look it up for you. The only criticism I have is their 45's are in regular sleeves with no type of record info. i.e. artist name, songs etc. that turns me off from looking through the stacks to find a record. Other than that the staff was helpful!

So impressed with this shop! Huge array of records and vinyl! The atmosphere was wonderful, and I found some real neat albums. Be prepared to spend money here, because it was impossible to leave empty handed. I grabbed some Gorillaz, Thundercat, Cavetown, and more! Decent prices from what I could tell too!

Very nostalgic, has a lot of variety, many different genres and unique records. Reminds me of when I was a teen and shopping for music cds. Only place we found that has so many Jazz records.

Traveling through Ohio about eight years ago, I spent some time in Dayton after visiting Columbus and Cleveland. Although I didn't spend much time in Dayton and got lost looking for Roger Troutman's old studio, I did have a great time visiting Omega Music. I found a Musical Youth album, which definitely reminded me of my childhood. The store also had a good selection of 45s, all reasonably priced. The service was excellent, as I recall. If I am ever in this neck of the woods again, I'm certain I will stop by Omega Music. It's a really good record store, for sure.

BIG store! Tons of albums (do I have to say 'vinyl' or is that now understood?) All music genres were available and lots of reissues of classic albums from their original master tapes. Didn't see much in the way of used albums other than the discount bins that you'd have to go through a lot of junk in the hopes of finding a nugget. Not that this can't be fun but I didn't have enough time. The used 45 section is impressive. I was like a kid in a candy shop going through them. If you are a child of the 70s or 80s the nostalgia will be almost unbearable. The sights and sounds plus the smell of heady incense mingling with solid old vinyl. Trippy posters for sale too, t shirts and other miscellany. I didn't interact with staff other than at checkout. The guy was cool and signed me up for their points club. There was actually thin plexiglass in a wooden frame running across the entire counter... they 'just never took it down.' I told them they need to so. It's a bad look. I also didn't care for political signs in the window. I think retailers should just stay out of taking sides on controversial issues. Whatever 'side' they take is going end up pissing some people off. Just concentrate on selling good product! I bought a Queen II album (new) and Pink Floyd's Meddle on CD. I'll be back with a list and make sure I have plenty of time and cash.

The people here are rude and unprofessional. My family was treated very poorly here on separate occasions. We spent a lot of money here. I tell my friends and family to avoid this store. Very unfriendly place. Purchased a lava lamp that didn't work also. They refused to help. I overheard the owner yelling and mistreating another man while I was across the street at another establishment. It came outside and was just terrible language. Don't do business here

I came in for an afternoon while I was on tour in OH and man was I impressed. There's lots of record shops, but Omega had a great selection of new LPs organized well and at fair prices. However what really set them apart is the $2 section of used records. If you are down to dig like me, there is soooo many good 12" singles in all genres in great condition that are to be sourced here. Great place to build a radio jams set for a vinyl night. Highly recommend!

Great selection of records. Well organized and good prices. Better prices in the clearance section than Goodwill (based on selection). Got something I didn't know I wanted for $0.99 (Sound of Music original soundtrack).

This was such a fun and unexpected find during our adventures walking around the downtown Dayton area while in the the area for work. It was recently Record Store Day and I had to miss (due to work) so I was excited to check this place out. It didn't disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a huge variety of options - vinyls (of course), CDs, cassettes, DVDs and Blu Rays, major discounted items, CBD products, cards and random gifts, and more. The prices are on point for what they sell elsewhere and the overall vibe of the place was spot on. A great local find and would highly recommend!

Very nice record store with a big selection. As a rap fan, I always appreciate the hard to find large rap collection and omega had it. Lot of great used vinyls too.

This is definitely one of the best record stores I've been to since moving to OH last year. Awesome music selection, great layout, spacious, well organized, and friendly staff. This is a place I'll wanna stop by whenever I'm in Dayton.

At the risk of being very uncool... this may be the hippest store on the hippest block of Dayton, Ohio. A media lover's browsing dream, you can pour through stacks of vinyl records or more updated media. (But really, everything sounds better on vinyl so stop buying CD's) My recommendations: 1. Free street meter parking on the weekend or use the lot next to the store. 2. Allow yourself at least an hour in this store. 3. Walk the perimeter of the store first. There are unique finds along the walls and aisle end caps. I focused mainly on vinyl, searching the movie soundtracks, jazz, alternative, and rock categories. My usual short list of titles to find came up empty - but there was plenty more to consider. Interesting specials include 'mystery bundles'- 10 albums for $4.99. This was intriguing and I considered but decided against it this trip. There are movie posters, CD's, books, DVD movies, and other assorted items to appreciate. I purchased 2 books and a Led Zeppelin "Physical Graffiti" Mint Vinyl Album. Great experience.

Great place. Great selection. I've bought many CDs, LPs, and DVDs here. They had several great Criterion's ranging from $30 to $10. Yeah, I bought several.

It's so great to have a place like this that's within walking distance of home! While it mostly offers music (CDs and records), they sell movies, too! They have DVDs and Blue-Ray at a great range of prices. I've seen popular Blue-Rays up to $20 and clearance section DVDs as low as 99 cents! This place is spacious, has a very cool vibe and friendly service.

Omega Music sells used/new Vinyls, DVDs, Cassette Tapes, CDs, novelties, shirt and more. I was browsing the Vinyls. Like most record shops, it's either hit or miss. The records are categorized in genres in ABC order. Plus they have a discount area ($1.00 bin) you can find some steals. The set up is very organized and employees were very friendly.

Wide selection but the staff isn't the friendliest the few times I've been there and their prices are a bit higher than what I pay at any other record stores in Ohio.

The owner of this store and the female cashier we're EXTREMELY rude to my elderly father: He had a mask to put on and instead of giving him 2 seconds to put in on the lady was threatening him and the owner of this store came up cussing him out.. "Get the F*CK out!!" My father had his mask on, was not being hostile or anything. I will NEVER be giving this place my business again and will be telling everyone i know to take their business elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional and uncalled for.

I'm spoiled by amazing record stores in Cincinnati, but Omega is one of my favorites in Ohio. Omega has a large selection of used and new records, CDS, Tapes, DVDs and stereo and record player accessories. When it comes to records which are what I mainly go after and buy here, I actually find a lot of records that I can't find anywhere else. Out of everything they have majority are records. I think they have one of the best selection of 7" & 45's out of any record store I've been too or go too. They have a huge selection of them and they always have a great mixture of types of music throughout all of them. Omega also has a great "Local Music" section off to the side of the store. I always appreciate that. Supporting local music is what is up. The prices here are great, more than reasonable. The guys who work here are always super cool and helpful. Not music snobs, not pretentious or judgy. Which is always appreciated. Great location in the Oregon district and they have a whole lot next to the building that you can park in.

Omega Music is what got me interested in vinyl records, and what keeps me coming back! I've been coming here for about 3 years and now I make sure to make a stop when I'm back in Dayton from Chicago. There is always such a great selection and you can get original pressings of great albums for less than $10. The people who work at Omega are also awesome- if you're open to getting adventurous with your music selections I suggest asking them for advice on good records or new things they've gotten in. Either way, if you appreciate music in solid form (ie cds, cassettes and vinyl) this is the place in the Dayton area to go.

This place was really cool. I went out with some friends for lunch and we decided to walk down the street to find this art wall and this was on the way and we had noticed it on our way to lunch. So we decided to check it out. On the outside they had free books. On the inside they had cds, vinyls, stickers, movies and pins for cheap. They had movies for like $1.99. They had stickers, 3 for $2. They had pins for like $9 cause they were the real deal. I bought a pin for my best friend and then I got 3 stickers for myself. I was gonna get a vinyl for my best friend too but I don't know all the bands and the albums she does and doesn't have so I didn't. Plus I knew I had to fly back home. Also, when you purchase something you get a free poster. So that's pretty cool. I didn't take one though. The less stuff I had to take home, the better lol. This place is retro/rock looking. I like it. They had more stuff too. Like record players. Which if OH was home, I totally would have bought one. I love my stickers though. This place is legit.

Amazing selection of vinyl. Love how is laid out. Some of the used stuff is over priced but I suppose vinyl is popular again so thatll be the story at any specialty shop. Lots of other cool stuff to but there too. Right on the edge of the neat historical Oregon district there are plenty of other stops to make on the area. And last but not least... I like the paper sacks for your purchase.. ‍ they're and old school feel and have a cool design on them worth of framing even lol

Omega reminds me of every great record store I frequented from about 1986-91. Friendly staff, spinning great tunes in the store, knowledgeable about their stuff, with very fair prices and a fun wide selection. Plus some great books and fun record store type goodies throughout!

This is a nice shop. It's pretty big and has a nice range of genres and media. Staff was good, somewhat approachable. Their poster selection was cooler a year ago but it's worth a flip through if you enjoy what's super popular right now. They have some really cool T-shirt's and you can stock up on incense while you're there. I really enjoyed flipping through records and left with The Strokes' debut album as well as a 45 that caught my eye in the bargain bins. Most records were priced very reasonably and you might be surprised by some of the stuff they have. They've got a pretty decent punk section which is cool to see, I'll likely stop in again.

Made my first visit here Friday night. Great store with a massive selection. Wish I had more time to browse. Some titles were pricey, but that's any record store these days

I go way back with this place, all the way back to route 48 and the original owner. I was so happy when they moved to the old Gem City Records building on 5th Street, much better and safer location. It got harry a few times up at the old main street location, in fact I stopped going there for 3 years even though I missed the old guy, he passed away, and I think his kids took it over, and they really have done a great job. My favorite record shop period is Everybody's down in Cincy, but this shop has moved into the upper echelon of used music stores. Same vibe, with reasonable prices, and OK selling prices, but understand all of these places don't really pay much as condition and demand is central. You had better do your homework especially if you have jazz like 50's and 60's Blue Note or Prestige label stuff, you could kill it your self on eBay, or really get taken to the cleaners by these record shops. But it's a business, they have to make a living. Tip: If you're selling easy listening or big band swing don't bother they don't want it, and hardly anybody else does either. Think vintage Small group jazz, or funk, Blues, Soul and Funk. Hair metal and thrash metal vinyl, progressive rock like Pink Floyd is sought after. Beatles, Stones, the Who, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix sells well. Overall prices are OK, not as cheap as Everybody's in Cincy. The bargain bin is where the real finds are at Omega. Jazz vinyl is reasonably priced I think.

These are guys are a great place for media related items. I've been going to them for many years. The prices are normally very reasonable and the staff is helpful. Check them out.

Hands down the best record store in the area! Their vinyl selection is probably one of the best if not the best in Ohio. I'm very fortunate to live close to this place!

I love this place. They are always playing music, which is usually really good music from all kinds of genres. It's like my phone's playlist - crazy! The people who work here are nice, and helpful. If you're looking for something they don't have, they'll check to see if they can order it for you - and they don't charge you shipping either. It is VERY rare that I visit and don't find something to buy. My only complaint is that the parking lot is kind of a pain, especially on weekends when the drunks are out (Oregon District).

I have been to the new Omega Music on 5th (where Gem city was) a few times. While they are a little on the expenisive side they do have a great selection of hard to find vinyl. Also,if you look in the bottom bins you can find great records at very decent prices between 2 and 8 dollars ususally. I was pretty excited to find a Mink Deville album for 6 dollars in mint condition! a+

I stopped in while in the area. I love going to indie record shops.i thought they had more used CDs but didn't see much. Cool shop to visit if your near by.

Awesome selection of new & used vinyl - 1000's to choose from. Also a nice selection of used and new cd's, right in the heart of Oregon District. Friendly & knowledgeable staff! Always end up buying more stuff than i intended too. Best vinyl in Dayton area by far.

Says they buy CD`s. Don't believe them. Drove 30 mins to sell 16 valuable CD`s and they said they aren't buying any right now!! Really!! Right before Christmas! Don't waste your time. I wish I wouldn't have.

Love this place! Where me and my boyfriend are from there are no shops like this! We spent hours in here looking through vinyl and CDs. They had a bunch of good indie albums we picked up liars Mess which is so good. We also picked up some incense, they had a bunch of high quality variety for a dollar cheaper than I usually get them. Plus they had a pile of band posters mostly album promotion ones in various sizes up to 11x17. Very good quality prints of all kinds of bands we loved, like Tune Yards, Conor Oberst, Pianos Become Teeth, etc...one free with purchase and the others at just 25 sense a piece. Pretty sweet deal. Really enjoyed ourselves here, will be back for sure next time we're in town.

Awesome music store selling old school 45s, cassettes, DVD movies, 33s and lots of CDs. Big selection. They accept trades and repair turntables.

Horrible customer service. Bought 2 new pressing sealed albums - one wasn't pressed correctly and the center spindle was too small to play on my turntable (a top of the line vintage pioneer model). Went back the next day with the receipt to exchange it for another copy of the exact same album. They refused to exchange it. Will never shop there again.

Omega Music is that classic record joint to go diggin in the crates to find obscure funk, jazz, salsa, samba, hip-hop, arabic disco all types of oddball stuff to rediscover and reinvent! If you're traveling for beats, definite make this place a stop over to explore! Great knowledgable staff (family owned!+), good service, prices are decent and negotiable, easy to navigate, cd's, books, paraphernalia, dvds and all type of other knick knack available! Free stuff there too! Go!

Omega is an average record shop in my opinion. They have a decent selection of vinyl, but mostly new records in the Alt,Indie,punk, and metal sections. I think they did a good job separating the hardcore bands in their own category. They have a small section of audio equipment and rare vinyl. They also have the typical used DVD wall. Prices are pretty much at market value and didn't see any good deals. Don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Not a bad store lots of records to dig threw.....prices not to bad maybe a few dollars higher than I really want to pay but deals can be found if you dig.....there's a good mix of rock, country, some punk and metal as well can't say as far as others cuz I did not really look threw them.....

So if you're looking for music, look no further. CD's, vinyl, accessories, used/new, vinyl, t-shirts, trinkets, vinyl. They've got it all PLUS did I mention they have vinyl records?! Any decade, virtually any act you're looking for, any style - you'll probably be able to find at Omega. And I was amazed at how perfect all of the used records were, especially for such decent prices (shocking when they're being jacked up everywhere else thanks to the hipster craze). My favorite part: everything I looked at was in actual alphabetical order so it seemed like the employees took their jobs seriously helping customers out (organization is key when skimming through thousands of records!). A cool environment that reminds you of 80's punk without the attitude -- everyone seemed super friendly while we were checking out and left their audiophile opinions to themselves. Thankfully it was not a High Fidelity-experience, so I felt very comfortable looking around and taking my time finding what I wanted. Great ambience, great selection of music, great prices. Omega's amazing!

Just picked up the new tame impala LP, great place. Also found the rockers soundtrack here. Jah bless

Great store. I drive down to Dayton to support this local treasure. If they don't have what I want they order it just as fast I could get it off the internet. Prices is also very fair.

This place seems to have a good, cheap collection of DVDs, CDs, and Vinyl. I had one customer service mix up with them, but they seem eager to resolve it. We'll see, but I think collectors of music and movies should enjoy shopping or browsing at this store!
