I loved it!! 9/10 best rating I’ve ever given a sushi restaurant!! Lunch special is perfectly priced! 2 rolls for $12 or 3 for $15, I couldn’t have had more if I wanted it! Crunch crab, spicy California, and Philadelphia roll!

Omi Sushi is a cute little gem that surprises you the moment you walk in. The staff are warm and welcoming, creating a laid-back, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. Start with the appetizers they’re absolutely fantastic and set the tone for the meal to come. But the real standout here is the sushi. It's truly out of this world fresh, expertly crafted, and beautifully presented. Whether you're a sushi purist or love specialty rolls, you’ll find something worth raving about. The kitchen dishes are pretty solid too. The curry, in particular, had great flavor, although the pork was just a bit on the dry side. Still enjoyable, just not the star of the show.

Staff is nice, but Amanda was super rude and dismissive. It definitely affected the experience. The food is okay at best — honestly only worth it because it’s within walking distance. Portions of sauce are tiny, the fish quality is just average, and the miso soup is overly salty. Also, the aggressive sign posted about firing employees over drink charges doesn’t create a welcoming atmosphere. You’re better off going to Uni Sushi & Ramen.

The room is tight, with maybe 15 tables at most. Service is fast and the entrées were made well to order. The sushi was good, and the ramen a little lacklustre compared to nearby restaurants. Highly suggest the desserts, especially the mochi!

I enjoy visiting. The chef well prepares really good food. The menu is tasteful. The lunch special experience is a beautiful, full service with nice, fresh, and hearty selections. I enjoy the yummy vegetables and protein. The Philadelphia and spicy salmon rolls are luscious with a slightly spicy pink sauce. Also, the small, good quality, and nicely breaded crunchy chicken katsu is great served on a crunchy bed with a brown, tasteful side sauce. I accompany with terrific garlic butter edamame pods. I wish for a cushioned or more comfortable seat. 🍱 🍣 🐥

I haven't been to Omi since before the pandemic, I hold fold memories of making the trip up to Lansing with Omi as one of the bigger selling-points for the drive. I was not let down, quality has remained the same since before COVID, service was very good and I believe the prices remain fair for the quality. Service was good and very quick, the sushi was fresh and delicious.

This place hands down is my favorite in all of Lansing area. They have the best house Sake. The best Ramen I've found... I was sad because I went to eat there tonight and they were closed... unfortunately there systems were down so I had to settle going somewhere else. If you haven't tried this place yet it's a must go!

This is our go-to spot in East Lansing. The sushi is always great and we typically get the Top 4 special. Prices are a lot cheaper than other places around Lansing and the lunch specials are a great deal. Service is always quick, but the miso sometimes comes out cold. Other than that, we have not had a bad experience here!

It's always fun to stop by old favorites whenever we're in East Lansing. Omi Sushi was one of my favorite places when I was in college, and I'm happy that it's still open. I ordered takeout from this spot countless times while living in EL. Nate and I were in the area and stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday recently. We were seated right away - I loved that they had vases of flowers on the tables. The blue color scheme is soothing, and I like the cozy bench seating. The menu has expanded a ton since I was there last! They have a bar now, with beer, wine, and sake, as well as lots of typical sushi restaurant offerings. I noticed they also have tabletop shabu shabu, which I'd love to try in the future. Omi Sushi is the first place I ever tried a crunch munch roll, which is still one of my favorite sushi rolls to this day. We got one of those, a spicy California roll, spicy scallop roll, and an order of the soft shell crab karaage, which I'd never seen before. Our meal also came with a miso soup and house salad. The soft shell crab karaage came out quickly. The dish consisted of a deep fried soft shell crab and a little bit of shredded cabbage, a squirt of kewpie mayo, and a lemon slice. I was expecting it to be crispier - it was a little soggy and soft, but the flavor was nice and the taste of the crab was prominent. I wouldn't order this again but it was fun to try. The soup and salad were your basic versions of these sushi restaurant staples. The rolls were all presented nicely. I did notice that the crunch munch roll is smaller than I remember but it's still very tasty, with tempura shrimp, crab salad, poached shrimp on top and eel sauce. The fish all tasted fresh, the rice was cooked well, and the bill was reasonable. Our server was great and very kind. While it's not the best sushi I've ever had, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Omi and hope they stay open for a long time!

Omi has a very relaxing atmosphere and there are often beautiful fresh flowers on the tables. I have had excellent service every single time I have ever visited. There is a 2 for $12 or 3 for $15 lunch special if you order before 3 pm. My favorite house special roll is the Crazy Salmon. The soup and salad that come with it are delicious too. My favorite dessert is the fried cheesecake!

It has been years since I last visited Omi. Once a great place to enjoy sushi, it did not disappoint me much with the same. However, their teriyaki chicken is not something I would order again. It was overcooked and, overall, mediocre. While not in the picture (was in a hurry to eat the first dish full of delicious sushi), their rolls were as good as I remembered. I had ordered a you pick 3 consisting of spicy tuna, spicy salmon and Philadelphia rolls. However, you usually can't (shouldn't) go wrong with these choices. If I am ever in town again, I will surely to re-visit.

The place was small but very cute. The tempura udon didn't have much flavor to it. Neither did the complimentary miso soup. The noodles have a nice chew and texture to it but the tempura shrimp was tiny & not like any other tempura shrimp i've had before. Would not recommend. I also got the dragon roll & that was really good. My friend got the spicy salmon roll & that was really good too. The sushi is better than the other food they serve.

I get Sushi here every week because it is so good. I usually come to get the lunch combo because it's the one of the best fields for a College Student. It's a small place but service is great.

The food is absolutely amazing and always so good every time I come! The waitresses are so sweet and outgoing too I love this restaurant weather it's for during the day for a lunch break or after an MSU football game! The service is nice and quick! The ambiance is amazing too, the place is outstanding a 10/10!

I just stumbled upon this place while staying in East Lansing. I played it safe and got a spicy salmon roll, California roll & edamame. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the sushi was. Usually you can't tell sushi is fresh until you bite into it. You could see the freshness when you opened it. It was really good! The avocado was literally perfect in my California roll. They were not stingy with the salmon in the spicy salmon roll. My only complaint is the edamame didn't have salt on it and there was none in the bag. Other than that this will be my new sushi spot when I'm in town

Really solid sushi. Some of my favorites are the eel combo and the deep fried spicy California roll. However, the appetizer are just alright. The takoyaki dough is a little undercooked the soft shell crab was pretty mediocre.

I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box from here and it was absolutely delicious! The service was quick and the server was super polite. The presentation was so pretty and the food was even better. I would definitely recommend heading over, there are so many options to chose from.

I omi. The service is nice and fast. I ordered the crab rangoons and it's one of my fav places to get them. I wanted a salmon mango roll but they don't have mango which is disappointing, but the salmon avocado with a side of eel sauce was still amazing. Salmon tastes fresh. I also got the house small udon and I think it it the perfect size if you get appetizers. The broth needs a little more salt, so I add soy sauce and it is great. The shrimp tempura in the udon gets soggy so if you want it crunchy, ask for it on the side. Overall, omi always hits the spot when I want sushi or udon

Since traveling to Lansing for work recently, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of interesting food options around where I'm staying in East Lansing. I tried Omi Sushi for the first time two nights ago, since I was in the mood for sushi and this one of the at least three well-reviewed sushi places on Yelp was the closest to me. I walked in on a weekday evening and put in my takeout order with the host who was nice. The food didn't take long to prepare, which I appreciated, and it wasn't too crowded. I ended up ordering a house special roll, which varies in having 5-8 pieces. When I asked him how many pieces the omi maki roll had, he said five, and I think he saw my incredulous look before I could stop it, because he reassured me that they were fairly big pieces. You can decide for yourself in my photo, but it was actually an okay size for me. The omi maki roll has eel, cream cheese, and asparagus battered in tempura and deep fried with eel sauce. The rolls come with a salad or miso soup, and I opted for the salad in an effort to be somewhat healthy. Originally, I wanted to give a three star review because I was so disappointed in the salad. The omi maki roll is good especially if you like cream cheese, and it was an enjoyable dinner. The salad, however, was nowhere close to fresh, and the dressing tasted like watery oil. The dressing did nothing to spruce up the salad, and I couldn't force myself to eat it. I'll probably come back to Omi Sushi depending on how the other sushi places in East Lansing compare, or if I want some katsu, but I will probably skip the salad. But, I've been here a second time and gotten the maki 7 roll, which is yummy, and got the soup this time, which is definitely the move. Given how much joy this sushi place (and the fact that I still want to keep working my way through their sushi menu as well as their non-sushi items), I bumped my rating to 4 stars. Just don't get the salad.

A solid price point for Sushi in a college town. It's in the middle of Michigan, and you're not gonna see much better prices than this for any kind of sushi in the Midwest. Yes, Goma by Dante in Cleveland is incredible, but if you order sashimi your gonna hit close to 75 - 100 before drinks, and entree. The staff seems to always be very attentive. I've eaten there three times in the last month, and the food seemed to be aligned with what the menu says. The taste is solid for the price point, and the menu is basically an homage to a meat and three. I've seen the same items before across the US and it's kinda like sushi comfort food. Ain't nothing wrong with that!

This is my go-to restaurant in EL. It NEVER disappoints. You can go there for sushi - hibachi - shabu shabu - noodles - Japanese entrees. Service is impeccable. Sake is reasonably priced. We come at least 1-2 times a month. Try the tofu steak appetizer, crunch munch 2, fish egg don, or tonkatsu.

The last great sushi on Lansing. Portions are sparse, like read the paper thin Nigiri and sashimi cuts, but fresh and tasty for the Mitten!

I've been out here for work for a few weeks and have been staying at the Marriott and wanted some legit Japanese food. I asked the front desk and they recommended Omi sushi. I'm originally from Hawaii and live in California so my standards are a bit high. So when I say it's legit, it's legit. Here's why: 1) The sushi is not filled with rice and while they do have rolls with mayo and crispy stuff to appease the non-authentic roll crowd, their sushi is good. The pieces of fish they give are good quality and cuts and the tako is done well, not chewy. 2) I like amaebi, aka 'sweet shrimp'. You know a Japanese restaurant in Michigan is good when they fry the head. And do a good job! 3) Their bento is delicious and on point. You need to dine in for it though. I always get the salmon teriyaki bento. It comes with a California roll, but you can upgrade it to just a salmon roll for $1. The agedashi is perfect. Not crazy fried, the tofu skin is thin and mochi like. The tempura is also perfectly fried and flavored. Also the salad dressing on the salad is just like what Japanese restaurants should serve - ginger :) 4) Their music. While I've dined in there, they played M-Flo (throwback whhaaat) and Utada. So you know they know what's up. If you haven't tried Omi yet, you need to. I've gone there several times in the last few weeks, 3 times actually last week. They also do take out!

Omi has been a long standing go to sushi spot for me. As a past long time MAC resident I spent too many afternoons shoving my face with delish rolls then rolling over to the Riv for an evening of fun. Omi never has a bad day. Cool interior and generous portions!

Reasonably priced with very big portions! i ordered some sushi and hibachi vegetables as well as tempura ice cream. the sushi was amazing and the hibachi was also good although not as good as the sushi, but that's to be expected since it isn't a hibachi restaurant. i absolutely loved the tempura ice cream and i wish i had left space to eat more of it but i will definitely get it again next time!

Great sushi for a great price. This place has normal rolls that are around $6-$8 and specialty rolls that are a little bit more expensive, but worth the price. The service here is also good.

Teriyaki beef is not their strong suit. It was somehow both over cooked and nearly raw, extremely fatty, and luke warm. The rice was the warmest thing I got. Miso also nearly cold. There was no discernible seasoning on the beef. What teriyaki? The only flavor was cold beef. Could not finish my plate. I'm taking a long break from this establishment

omi sushi is my favorite sushi place to eat at on MSU's campus. the servers are always very nice and kind, the sushi chefs are very talented, the food is always superb, the before-3pm deal is very nice and helpful for budgeting, and it's so beautiful inside. of the 3 dozen or so times i've been here, i've never had a bad experience. can't wait to come back again!

the food was good, but I will say it gave more horrendous stomach issues after. I only got vegetarian sushi (avocado and cucumber rolls) and yet I still ended up feeling terrible. Service was great, food tasted good, but maybe not the best place for those with sensitive stomachs like mine.

Best sushi I have had anywhere! I love been to big and small places. Spent a lot and a little money but the sushi never tasted this good. The atmosphere is small and college towny (MSU) but the sushi is outstanding. Also I recommend trying the saki because it's super flavorful.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food and service here is great! I'm so happy we discovered it, and we will be back soon!

I've gotten food a couple of times here. I got to come into the shop recently as a lunch date with my friend and it was perfect for that. I loved the shades of blue on the interior; it made me feel calm. We ordered their 3 for $12 lunch combo. Sushi here is good, I think my sweet potato one could have been slightly more cooked, they also didn't have non-imitation crab rolls so we got salmon and tuna. It was okay, I mean I guess they were also the basic rolls. Nothing to write much about but still it was decent amount of food for the price, and it tasted good. My friends fried katsu was very delicious- thinly sliced and juicy. The other time I had gotten food I got the Japanese vegetable udon which is a very earthy taste and the curry udon which I definitely recommend for that standard yellow curry taste. Our server, Amanda, was very polite, attentive and friendly!

My go to sushi place in the Lansing/East Lansing area. A great place for great sushi! I have no complaints and staff is friendly. I usually get the Crunch Munch II and then get another roll that I haven't tried yet. My boyfriend always gets the Sweet Potato and Angry Bird rolls. Delicious sushi rolls and better than most in the area. Enjoy!

More like 0 stars. Horrible experience. We had food from here last week and it was absolutely a mistake. We ordered Crunch Vegas Roll along with other rolls and we found PLASTIC inside the rolls!!! We ended up at the hospital. Our child almost died from this. We're in the process of a law suit as we never received a call back from the owner is the manager stated. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!!!

One of my favorite sushi places in East Lansing! I've been to pretty much every sushi place around here, and the fish is fresh and delicious every time. Really great prices as well!!

This is my favorite sushi restaurant for many reasons: It is adorable inside, they have tons of amazing veggie sushi rolls (I don't eat seafood), and it is super inexpensive. Omi always satisfies my sushi and Chinese food cravings and I don't have to break the bank to do it. They have something for everyone :)

Love this place and is my favorite place in east lansing. The just raised their prices on everything so not very affordable anymore. The quality also very vastly day to day. Food is fantastic when it's fantastic but with the price changes it makes it tough to go as often :/

The only downside to this sushi place is that miso soup isn't included with all orders. However, compared to other sushi places, it's your usual. The restaurant has a cool interior space so definitely a place to take friends visiting the area to. They do a great job with presentation of the sushi. Service was great -- loved our waitress.

Me and my boyfriend went here for a dinner on Wednesday night. The food was absolutely great! We got the Special California roll, Philadelphia roll, shrimp avocado cucumber roll, and a smoked salmón nigiri. It was all absolutely amazing. It was my boyfriends first time having sushi and my first time ordering it at an actual restaurant - take that as you would like - and we were both very happy with the quality :) The raw smoked salmon seemed to melt in my mouth and was delicious. We will definitely be back.

One of my favorite sushi places in east lansing! Besides the fact that it's smaller and doesn't have free parking, the food is soo satisfying. I've tried many of their different rolls, udon, and some different appetizers. This one eel roll was soo big it lasted as two meals for myself. The interior is all clean and perfect for a nice lunch/dinner out. Just wish they had some larger tables for groups too... and that you didn't have to pick between miso soup or salad.

Max G was our server and he was one of the best I've had in years! The sushi came out super quick and was very tasty. Super happy with this place and would definitely recommend. Sit in Max's section and you'll be even happier!

Enjoyed dining at Omi Sushi. Good portions. Loved the appetizers and sushi. My daughter ordered the spicy ramen bowl which was very generous portion size and she loved it.

This place has the best sushi I have ever had! I would highly recommend any of the tempura dishes! Absolutely delicious with amazing presentation.

Stopped in to Omi Sushi with my boyfriend last week and enjoyed our experience. It has been several years since I've eaten here, and the menu is much better than I remember. We loved everything we ordered, and were surprised that the 'green monster' roll was our favorite of them all. It is was definitely in my top two in the area for that type of roll. A few of the rolls that had spicy crab salad in, or on top of, it tasted pretty similar, but were good. I'm giving them four stars for this visit because our service was great, the presentation was nice, our rolls came with a soup or salad (and the salad was pretty good sized), and the sushi rolls were filling and flavorful. Worth checking out, but parking can be tough. I'd recommend parking across the street in the MSU structure after hours and walking to avoid getting a ticket.

The food here is nothing less than very enjoyable to eat! I had the spicy tempura chicken, the spicy ramen and diablo sushi! All of which had unique aspects to them that you would not expect! The sushi incorporated rice paper, jalapeños and avocados. The spicy ramen added a diverse mixture of fish cakes, oysters, large shrimp, fried egg, and napa cabbage and the broth was spicy and delicious! Very creative presentations! Now, for a little bit of the downside. When I was first seated, I was there alone. So, I was seated near the back by the bathroom.. Asked to be moved and they didn't seem happy. I was moved to a table that was unstable. I had to put numerous things on the underside of the table so it would not topple over. The staff, initially, seemed a bit cold and annoyed with me. But, as the experience went on... They did warm up a bit and it all ended well. The food came out in a timely manner and as I said, it was not disappointing at all!! Great lunch combos on the menu as well! Looking forward to coming back soon with more people! If I am not by myself, I know I will get a better table and the food is good!

Probably the best cheap place for sushi in East Lansing. Service was good and staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. Sushi was fresh and the rolls were pretty large. For a group of 3 people, 6 rolls were enough to fill us up. We ordered 3 signature rolls and 3 simple. Total bill including drinks was around $44.

Bad experience with the service along with the food. Ordered two rolls and a few hours later started to feel unwell. Rolls also contained bits of plastic I had to pick off, disgusting! After a few days, identified this establishment gave me food poisoning, since it's been the only food I've eaten out in a while. I will not be returning.

Mmmmmm! Was all I was saying while eating their sushi. I went to Omi with a couple of friends and one of them never really had sushi before. For his first true sushi experience he really enjoyed it. The sushi was overall delicious and the experience was great too. The atmosphere of the Omi was definitely relaxed and the inside was very clean. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. The food actually came out pretty quick which was good because we were running late for an event that evening. There are plenty of options on the menu for type of sushi and other food. The only real complaint I have is thhe sushi was a but pricey for the portions. Other than that it was a great time and my friend really enjoyed his first sushi experience.

The sushi here was excellent and a good price. I got some of the smaller sushi rolls and a chicken/rice/veggie bowl to go. The bowl wasn't bad but the chicken was slightly over cooked. I wished that I would have gotten more sushi instead of the chicken. Didn't dine in but looked like a very nice restaurant inside and staff was very friendly.

Stopped for a quick lunch- had their beautifully presented bento lunch. Quite delicious with a variety of flavors- agedoufu, croquette, mixed rice onigiri, tempura with the selected "main" dish. I had sushi (4 California rolls, a nigiri salmon and a nigiri tuna). Generous portions and good service.

Excellent sushi and service. This was our first time at the restaurant and we were extremely satisfied by he service and the quality of the food. I ordered the ramen and while it was decent I prefer the rolls. Our table tried a variety and everyone was happy. This was great sushi and I will definitely return. Trust.

I would hope for better sushi places in East Lansing. Omi isn't bad, there just doesn't appear to be much in comparison. For sushi right off the MSU campus, their prices are good, a little off from great. I had a bunch of veggie rolls and the tempura app, which was whatever. The sushi was better than mediocre ("good"?) but I believe it was the avocado tempura that was the standout. Very tasty. They gave us an unannounced cash discount, which put their prices into "excellent" range (+1). The decor is slick, modern, hip, but feels more plastic and cold. Also, there's no breezeway so it can be somewhat cold by the door in winter months. Service was average. Overall, I'm a fan, considering the area.

I had a really great time here with my best friend a while ago. I got pork curry rice and it was the best I've had in a long time. A wonderful place to spend an afternoon meal with someone, I can't wait to go back.

Omi sushi is my go to when in lansing. Their sushi is always good. Last time I went I got the Diablo sushi and ngl it was really spicy, more than I thought, and even though it was burning my tongue, I still wanted to keep eating it. Their soy sauce is very concentrated, so beware of that lol. My friend said that their Tonkotsu ramen broth wasn't too heavy and more so light, same with the noodles, not too thick. Their enoki mushrooms were apparently a little too tough for them tho

I went in yesterday and I feel bad but I don't remember the waitresses name anyways, she was awesome and so helpful with the menu, answered our questions and helped me modify some things because I am so picky. The presentation was beautiful! Shout out to the chefs! And everything tasted amazing. Brought my friend out for the first time and now she is obsessed!
