The Best Korean Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Located in the Quartier des Arts, Omma is a perfect date night or pre-show option, serving a well-rounded menu with soups, curries, and salads thanks to its owner-operators Jessica Wee, her brother Justin and mother My-kium Kim, the last of whom cooks up most of the menu herself." - Holly Tousignant

Where to Eat Near Place des Arts | Eater Montreal

"This Korean restaurant migrated from Mile End down to Ontario Street a few years back. Classics like pajun (seafood pancake), mandoo (dumplings) kimchi jigae, dol sot bibimbap, bulgogi, and a variety of noodles are all great options." - Daniel Bromberg

Best Picnic Baskets To-Go From Montreal Restaurants and Bars | Eater Montreal

"Former Mile End resident OMMA (now located in the Quartier des Arts) is making it easy for fans of its colourful Korean fare to bring the bulgogi, kimbap, chicken wings and soju out of the restaurant and into the parks. For deposits of $24 and $31 respectively, diners can now rent a picnic blanket and basket from OMMA. Baskets can be filled with picnickers’ menu items of choice, but a suggested menu, which includes a soju-filled watermelon that must be ordered at least two days in advance, is available on the restaurant’s social media pages." - Holly Tousignant

Tried out Omma for a late weekday dinner. It’s a small, cozy Korean spot. Didn’t see any Korean customers, kitchen’s run by a Korean couple. - Banchan - kimchi and bean sprouts. Kimchi was lightly pickled - Beef bibimbap ($24.00) - rice didn’t get crispy but flavours were well balanced. Good variety with bean sprouts, carrots, mushroom, daikon, cucumber, zucchini and a raw egg - Soondooboo jigae ($20.00) - comes with a bowl of rice. Broth was okay but wasn’t spicy Portions are on the small side. 3.5 stars

This is a cosy little corner restaurant with a good variety of Korean dishes. I've been to a fair number of Korean restaurants and Omma had a wide variety of dishes that would appeal to all types of palettes. The dishes are well suited for sharing as well, so it is easy to get some different main courses and divvy them up. We had a reservation and bar seating was all that was available, which was suitable. When we arrived there were open tables reserved for others. It looked to me like walk-in traffic would be taking a chance, so a reservation is recommended.

Delicious food, had a tofu dish, a stew with tofu and sweet potato vermicellidish, all were great! The iced tea is had was fantastic. Great little restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone! It is small though so call ahead for a table if you can!

My sister and I were looking for a comfort spot that wasn’t too far away from our hotel. We found this cute little Korean spot with authentic dishes. We ordered the following: - Octopus Bibimbap - Beef Bulgolgi Ssam Bap - Saewoo Tigim They also gave us these pickled vegetables as our starters. Everything tasted really delicious! I especially loved the crispy rice at the bottom of the stone bowl (bibimbap). The bulgolgi was really tender. I really liked wrapping it in a lettuce wrap with rice and ssam. They also gave us some kimchi that we also put into the lettuce wraps. The shrimp was lightly battered with panko. The sauce they served with the shrimp is a wasabi-mayonnaise that was tangy. Everything tasted very authentic. We noticed that the chefs were both Korean. The customer service was good too. Our food didn’t take too long to arrive. The space is a little smaller - probably seated around 15 people in total, so make sure to do reservations or go earlier when they open so you get a spot. We were seated at the bar side for our meal. Overall a nice cozy Korean spot for dinner. Definitely would recommend!

Google
I cannot say enough about Omma’s cooking. Hands down the best Korean food I’ve ever had. God forbid, if I ever found myself on death row, I would ask for her cooking to soothe me in my final moments. The tubu tuigim was perfectly crisp on the outside and incredibly moist on the inside. The bibimbap had the freshest of ingredients that harmoniously mixed together to create a mouthwatering experience of a lifetime. I had never heard a stone bowl sizzle that hot before. The raw egg cooked itself within seconds before my eyes and the intense heat made the best charred rice imaginable. Through Omma I’ve regained my faith in god, her cooking is one of Montreal’s best hidden gems. After one meal, I love her almost as much as my Korean girlfriend. If Omma ever offered cooking lessons my life would be heaven. Find Omma for a wonderful evening with your loved ones. We’ll be back every week, we’ll see you all there.

This amazing Korean restaurant is a hidden gem on the corner of Ontario Street and Clark Street in downtown Montreal :) Just a few steps from Saint Laurent metro. Feels like you have walked into a different cozy world with mesmerizing lanterns everywhere. The staff is super kind and welcoming and food is beyond delicious. We had Fried Squid for appetizers and the kimchi was a gourmet's delight. For dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken Bulgogi Bibimbap and others in the group also loved their Octopus Bibimbap as well as Chicken Bulgogi. I know I will be coming back to this restaurant with family and friends again. Would recommend 10/10 UPDATE: Went and tried Pajun for appetizers which were the best seafood crispy pancakes! We also tried out favorite Dol sot Bibimbap with beef, octopus, and spicy shrimp. Also loved the chicken bulgogi which was just as delicious:) For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and mango sorbet:) A fantastic restaurant to enjoy the delicacies of authentic Korean food

Google
It is decent Korean food adapted for western taste-buds. It got really busy and its best if you make a reservation in advance. There seems to be only one service staff and although she was obviously overworked, service was still good.

Yelp
Really, really good! This place isn't so big inside but it is big enough to host 20 or so people. The food is amazing - both my girlfriend and I finished everything that was served. While we were there, there was a mishap with the dish washer leaking water on the floor, leading up to the customers table with the smoke detector going off. The food overall made us forget us about that! Seems like it is a mom and dad restaurant as we saw an older couple cooking in the kitchen!

Yelp
I first came here years ago and it was my first time having bibimbap. I remember loving the beef bibimbap and seafood pancakes. After revisiting as a vegetarian I was a little disappointed at the portion size and pricing of the tofu options, but it still tasted great. $22 for a tofu dish is a bit steep, especially when compared to beef and chicken options for the same price. The pajean was fluffy and well-seasoned, and every dish comes with complimentary banchan that is delicious. The tofu bibimbap tasted great, but could have used more tofu or vegetables. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, and the service was good.

Yelp
Bulgogi is good. Portion size is small not shareable. Only two lettuce leaves. Service is a bit slow

Yelp
Good food and fast for pickup! Ordered bimipbop, dumplings, kale salad and daikon was spicy! Will definitely order again.

Yelp
I got bibimbap and it was decent/good. The restaurant is so cute inside, and the servers were so nice as well. I think you can also make a reservation! If you wanna go on a date with a korean, it'd be a great place.

Yelp
I was initially intrigued by this place after walking by it while going home a few days ago, so today, craving some Korean food, I suggested we check this place out. The inside was cute; paper lanterns, quiet jazz music, and orange ambient lighting made for a soft and relaxing atmosphere. I'd say that the restaurant can seat maybe 20 people max. It looked like there were two or three people behind the counter in the kitchen. The waiter was kind, and the service was pretty fast, but there was only one other group in the restaurant when we came. There's a bar that looks like it serves some sort of alcohol, probably beer, but we didn't sit there. After frequenting (or at least trying) most of the popular places around the downtown area, I wasn't sure what taste I was expecting from this place - maybe something authentic, traditional? However, this wasn't the case. Though the taste was new for sure, the side dishes weren't traditional; in fact, there was only one dish of cabbage - no potatoes, which I basically live for. Still, it wasn't bad, even though it wasn't kimchi, since I'm a fan of sweet things. The sauce was reminiscent of sweet and sour sauce. As for the main dishes we ordered, the bulgogi wasn't the best I've had - it was too cooked and a bit burnt at the bottom. The bibimbap was better than average, but it felt like it didn't have much beef. In general, though I left Omma feeling comfortably full, I don't feel like the portions or quality of the dishes were worth the price. Though I put $$, it's more on the pricier side of $$, closer to $$$. Not as an insult, but I probably won't be back - there are many other choices in this area that I'd prefer.

Yelp
I have eaten TONS of Korean food, including eating it in South Korea and this was easily as good if not better.. super clean and tasty.served super fresh and steaming. The B with tofu and the pancake with seafood.

Yelp
As much as I love Korean food, this place unfortunately did not impress me as much. Their atmosphere is nice and service is attentive, but that's about it. They didn't have complimentary banchan like most Korean restaurant, in fact, they charge you for a small plate of kimchi which I find it bit odd. Their selection is not as big and some of the dishes are not really Korean. Although the food is good, I personally find it overpriced. There are definitely other restaurants where you can get better food for less.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience- from the soju, to the Korean-seasoned wings, to the perfection-in-a-bowl Bibimbap - add some excellent service (thanks to Antoine) and a fresh, modern vibe - can't wait to dine here again!

Yelp
Omma god the new location is better than the original one. Make sure to come early enough, it's small and fills up fast. We had the sweet potato noodles (definitely recommend), the spicy beef soup, and the red curry. What really makes this place is the intimate environment and cute decor. Great place for a date!

Yelp
The food tasted okay. Atmosphere and service were nice. However, they are quite far from authentic Korean food. Their yukgyejqng was something I've never seen in my life - and I'm Korean. Their kimchi was also very foreign to me. I don't mind fusion Korean food, but this place calls itself just Korean not fusion. It's not a bad place to have a meal, but just be aware that it's not really authentic Korean.

Yelp
I was in Montreal with my wife. We stopped by OMMA for some Korean food. We walked in and was greeted by the owners daughter. She was polite and told us her mother is the cook. The place was clean and seats were comfortable. I ordered marinated beef and my wife ordered kimchee soup. I have been to Korea many times and my wife is Korean and I can truly say that this was the most tasty and authentic Korean I have had. Super delicious!

Yelp
Came here with friends between Jazz Fest performances... was so amazed at service, and my friends and I have nothing but great things to say about the food! Definitely a low key place, with small menu. Food was MSG free (I can otherwise always tell after meal). Chef also poked her head out to see how dining room was doing and we took the opportunity to thank her. AMAZING place and we'll definitely return when back in Montreal!

Yelp
Great tasting food at a decent price. The plates are larger however don't be fooled, there's enough food on it.

Yelp
The food and service here were amazing! We loved the kale and the bibimbap! We showed up as a group of 5 without a reservation on a Thursday and had no problem getting a table.
