The Best Resorts in the World: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards

"About 40 minutes from Jacksonville Airport, Omni Amelia Island is one of only two luxury resorts on the island (the other is a Ritz Carlton)—though the vibe is far from pretentious. Once through the gated entry, you’ll notice beautifully untamed grounds rich with Spanish moss-adorned live oaks. Enter the lobby and you're met with a cascade of blues: a captivating view of the Atlantic ocean and, in the foreground, an eye-catching water feature followed by an adults-only pool and hot tub, plus a family pool and splash pad. Each level offers plenty of loungers and palms, and every room at the property has an ocean view—and a striking one." - CNT Editors

Omni Amelia Island Resort

"Why book? A resort that nods to nature and offers warm Southern charm, this is an idyllic spot for low key–luxury family vacations—or to leave the kids at home and enjoy the property’s ample amenities without the (cute, little) limitations. Set the scene About 40 minutes from Jacksonville Airport, Omni Amelia Island is one of only two luxury resorts on the island (the other a Ritz-Carlton)—though the vibe is far from pretentious. Each level offers plenty of loungers and palms. Many of said loungers were occupied by families—those I talked to during my stay had traveled from the Midwest, Northeast, and South (Florida resident rates are offered seasonally). Some traveled in multi-family or multi-generational groups giving grateful parents a moment to sip piña coladas while their little ones splashed in the pool with grandparents, cousins, or newfound vacation friends. A handful of corporate groups made themselves obvious with name tags and light beers (there's a conference center on the property). I didn’t envy the few folks that were “working from vacation,” but if you have to open the laptop it may as well be from a fire-side rocking chair overlooking the ocean. The backstory In 2010 Omni Hotels & Resorts acquired the former Amelia Inn and facilities including the shops and golf courses, and spared no expense to expand the property's pools, hotel rooms, and conference center. Most recently added is a 10-hole golf course, dubbed Little Sandy, that seems to be the perfect spot for golfers of any age and ability looking for a fast and fun round. Word on the street is another project will soon update a few of the retail shops for both guests and the public—and considering the property’s vast and varied uses, I’d be interested to see what else is in store for the residences, wellness facilities, and sustainability efforts. The rooms Every room at the Omni Amelia Island has an ocean view, and a striking one. Even before you feast your eyes on your ocean vista you’ll catch another sprawling view when you enter your room from an open-air breezeway that overlooks the island’s treetops and marsh. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with cozy beds (two queens or one king), crisp white linens, and a no-frills bathroom with a tub. If you need a crib, the available rolling model will fit snugly between the two beds—if snug isn’t your thing, consider one of the suites or booking one of the residence villas, condos, or homes for more space with access to all the same amenities as hotel guests. Food and drink The restaurants on property offer a variety of cuisines and atmospheres. Dinners with kids in tow are a cinch thanks to the pizzeria/surf shop/arcade Natural Slice. Cocktails are solid at the Falcon’s Nest restaurant—and so is the brisket. While quarter-eating games are absent there, families can lean on the aviation themed decor and ample outside seating for entertainment, or take a between-course walk over the wooden bridge to spot turtles and lizards. For a more elevated dining experience, Verandah’s fresh seafood and homemade pastas will satisfy—be sure to try something made with ingredients sourced from the Sprouting Project, the resort’s sustainable greenhouse and garden operation—perhaps a cocktail with honeycomb sourced from its beehives, or a classic caesar salad with hand-harvested romaine lettuce. Breakfast choices are easy and fun: Marché Burette serves up a brunch tower on weekends; grab a coffee and a pastry or the like from Seaglass in the lobby, and set aside a morning for the breakfast buffet and gorgeous terrace view at Sunrise Café. If maximizing pool and beach time is your priority, lunchtime calls for Oceanside—the resort’s no-frills beach bar and grill with suitable choices and timely service. At the poolside counter service, Paloma & Pico’s tacos are just fine but the star here is the eponymous Paloma—watermelon juice or jalapeno adds a twist to the classic tequila cocktail. (Note there is no food service on the beach, so be prepared to place your to-go order if you’re setting up camp on the sand for the day.) The spa It offers most of the standard treatments you’d expect, but for something a bit different, try the signature Quartz Sand Table massage where guest lays on warm sand, a soothing addition to an already-luxurious experience. The service The combination of Southern hospitality and big-brand standardization works for the resort’s low key–luxury vibe. Lean on the concierge to help with coordinating activities and reservations both on and off property, and the front desk staff will be your go-to for a breezy check in and on-demand shuttle service calls. (You’ll never wait longer than a few minutes for one of these convenient buses to cart you around). Overall, there are friendly, salt-of-the-earth personnel throughout the resort—including some MVPs at the nature center, Oceanside bar, and cabana service. The neighborhood/area A quintessential seaport area, the Fernandina Beach Historic District is about a 20 minute drive north from the Omni. Centre Street and the surrounding area is the perfect place to bop around from shop to shop and grab a meal, drink, or ice cream—the Cinnamon Bear is a sugar-loving family favorite. Have lunch and a local brew at the Salty Pelican and stop at Ship’s Lantern to grab some kitschy souvenirs and a few shark teeth if you can’t get around to searching for them on the beach yourself. (I’m told the trick is to go at sunrise so the tooth treasures stand out with a distinct glint in the sand.) When heading back to the resort, stock up for happy hour on your balcony at Mocama Beer Company or treat yourself to a dozen oysters while the kids run amuck on the playground at Shucker’s. For families Everything about the Omni Amelia Island is family friendly but there are definitely some standouts for an (almost) effortlessly enjoyable family vacation. The nature center will become a daily visit for any animal-lovers with a chance to see and maybe interact with turtles, snakes, and Buddy the Macaw. The center hosts guided tours and a discovery series designed for kids to find shark teeth, learn about sea turtles, or go fishing and crabbing. There are even a few evening activities for kids worth mentioning: play a round of mini golf or a game of giant checkers and after dark head to the gaming lounge with video game stations alongside some analog entertainment, like foosball, or grab a s’mores kit from the front desk and roast mallows around the fire. Look to Camp Amelia for daytime or evening sessions and give the kids a chance to make friends while parents enjoy the resort solo for a bit. Eco effort The focus on the natural environment on which the resort sits is obvious: Plant life thrives, as do the animals. From gopher tortoises to gators, gulls, and egrets, staff and guests are made to be aware and respectful of the resort’s inhabitants. To involve the community in the resort’s eco efforts, the Sprouting Project creates sustainable culinary experiences through ticketed farm-to-table dinners for guests and locals. To get there or anywhere on the resort, ride a bike or segue to enjoy the property without burning gas. Accessibility Omni Amelia Island meets ADA standards with accessible rooms, entrances, pool and hot tub lifts, and beach access wheelchairs. Anything left to mention?Ask your driver to take the scenic route from JAX airport, and be on the lookout for skydivers." - Katie Lalama Surprenant

Overall a good stay, but there are some key points which could be improved. I want to thank Ms. Brook at the front desk, Ms. Gertie at the guest service and Ms. Nelly at the restaurant. The room is decent sized and not enough sugar for the coffee machine. The view is rectangular on the high floor. The food isn’t that great, but decent. The extra charge for delivery and mandatory gratuity is not listed for in room dining. The staff is very friendly and welcoming overall. The main pool is too warm and almost hot at night time. They can adjust the temperature for better comfort. Between 1 to 2 pm (maybe around 1:30 pm) on 07/28, there was a young man keep jumping/diving into the main pool with children inside the pool. It was very dangerous. I wanted to say something, but I thought it was the staff’s duty to let the person know not to do it. It happened next to the snow cone shop. Not one staff came forward to stop such dangerous behavior. The person ran fast and dived into the pool filled with children. I feel the hotel needs to pay attention to address this matter.

Omni Amelia Island is one if the most enjoyable vacation spots I've ever visited. The entire property, including the nature experiences, shops, restaurants and activities are all top notch, plus the pools and their Fernandina Beach Front are spectacular. As a super bonus, the 4th of July fireworks were just outside our balcony bringing me closer to the action than I've ever been. We had 3 generations of our family on this visit and all loved it. The final comment I feel compelled to mention is the superior customer service attitude of every single employee we interacted with. They were uniquely superior.

Google
Let me begin on a positive note, housekeeping and tram service was excellent. Client services was helpful when trams were requested, any other question or request via phone was hit and miss. If you are attending a conference, be sure they book you in the main building because the resort is huge and not easy to navigate and parking is limited. We are not entitled people, just attending a conference and got phone hung up on us when trying to check out, rude. Rooms were clean but dated. Location is beautiful though.

Google
Beautiful resort, and very attentive staff! We stayed 4 nights, and the first night our room was hot and the bed was super firm for our comfort. The morning after, I received a text asking about our stay. To which I replied stating the above issues, but otherwise everything has been great. They promptly had someone look at our a/ c, and had housekeeping put a mattress topper on our bed. Night two, we slept like babies! We enjoyed a day at the beach and a day at the pool, the breakfasts offered in the lobby bar were excellent and the dining at the restaurants on property were superb. Def looking forward to coming back here!

Google
We had the best time. The resort’s location was spectacular, ocean front and yet surrounded by all the tucked away amenities that you can ever want. We swam in both pools, went to the beach (5 min away), ate at the delicious restaurants, worked out at the health club each am, went on a naturalist kayaking tour (must go. Jenny is so knowledgeable), booked a fishing trip with the concierge, and sat on our patio. Service was amazing as well as the resort. Thank you, Omni!

Google
This experience was a bit up and down. The guest rooms are a little more rundown than expected, and some things weren't working, like the gamer's lounge and the tv in our room. But the pool (including the amenities in the pool area) was excellent, as was most of the food (although they could use more variety in their offered options, especially at dinner time). Service was also pretty good, with a couple of strange interactions excepted.||||The location also has its pros and cons - the beach is beautiful and wasn't very busy, but it's pretty far from most other things, like fast food (or maybe I should just say cheap food), grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.

Google
I'll be honest, we initially booked our room for one night. but since my son and his family, we're inside the newer building, we decided to upgrade and move closer to them. although we had a wonderful view of the Atlantic ocean, you would have thought we would have had a couch for our family to sit in the room, besides one chair and the bed. the accommodations, we're average and truly not on par for what you would expect from an Omni hotel.

Google
15+ years coming here annually. Staff is amazing. Rooms are still a little outdated. Get an Ocean view and you will have a wonderful sunrise/sunset experience. Hotel area is good. Local restaurants are usually filled with young families with loud skids so pick times that are amenable to avoid to have a quiet meal.

Yelp
"I had an amazing shopping experience at Salty threads! The staff (Mikayla and Nathanael) was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, helping me find exactly what I needed. The store was well-organized and had a great selection of products and clothing. I especially appreciated the quick checkout process, which made my visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Salty threads to anyone looking for quality service and a fantastic shopping atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!"

Yelp
5 star customer service and amazing staff. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, fantastic spot for families with young children. Great kids splash pad for young toddlers and beachfront property with lots to do and great outdoor adventures. Everyone here from the bellhops to the bartenders to the wait staff to housekeeping have been exceptionally kind and really made the vacay great! Several different restaurant options from casual to fine dining. We booked the deluxe oceanfront with a balcony and there was more than enough room for a pack and play and beautiful ocean views. The rooms looked a littler older online but they are so clean and no weird ocean musty smell that some beach resorts like Atlantis have. Mini fridge in the room and microwave available upon request. Parking is a little expensive, $25+ self parking or $40+ for valet so budget accordingly. We had a small hiccup with our room the first day and management was easy to contact and fixed our issue immediately (thank you Tobi and Maureen). Very happy with our vacation here to celebration our son's first birthday, even with some stormy weather we had a blast and will be back!

Yelp
The Omni is a large property on Amelia Island. The common areas- pool- an adult pool and a children's pool. I consider that a huge plus as I go on vacation to relax not to listen to other people's children scream. The pools are beautiful, lots of chairs, umbrellas, food and bar service. They offer valet parking and self parking- I valet parked. The self park is a little bit of a walk. The parking attendants and the staff are very courteous. The hotel has two sections- an older section and a newer one- although I don't know how "new" it was. We were in the older section. It can be quite a walk to the older section. If you have young children- I would stay in newer section. It would be quite a haul from the pool and back to room for them! The older section we stayed in is in need of renovation. We were placed into a room, dropped luggage off and left, came back to a room that smelled like mold and the carpet was wet. It was raining a lot while we were there. We asked to be moved. We were switched to same section of hotel. The room appeared to be ok but the toilet kept running. My friend took the tank cover off and fixed it. However, the next night as we were going to bed-the toilet clogged and the water was at the top but did not overflow yet. It was very late so we were too tired to call maintenance. We couldn't use it at all overnight. In am water went down. We attempted to use it and ended up with water leaking all over bathroom area. I turned off water and got all the towels possible to soak up water. We called maintenance. We told them it was an emergency and was surprised that it took a little while for them to get there. I would say 20 minutes. All and all, I would give it a lot of thought before staying again. There were other little annoying things, no garbage can by bathroom sink, no self coffee and tea station. I hated this. You would have to go stand in line to get one at the little restaurant/ bar near the lobby. I don't understand a hotel like the Omni not having a station for a quick coffee or tea. They charged you for it. I heard but did not use that service that they also charge for chairs down at the beach. We only used the pool so I can't verify. For our inconvenience, they took 25 percent off our last room night. Honestly, I would have expected more. We did use the spa- it is beautiful and we all had wonderful massages. Relaxing areas, nice steam showers and great staff. Best part of our trip.

Yelp
If there was a '3.5/5 stars' option I would select that. Just got home from our 3-night stay over Labor Day weekend - here's my extensive pros & cons list! We're a 28-year old couple on our "babymoon" before our first kid is born. PROS: - 3rd floor room had a beautiful unobstructed view of the beach. - AC worked great, no issue with the room being too hot at all. - shower heated up right away, water pressure was good. Same with the sink. - mini fridge & pantry space in the room along with water bottles & coffee pods re-stocked each day. - clean crisp linens & complimentary bathrobes. - fast wifi & TV had chromecast. - spa experience was fantastic, my massage therapist was knowledgeable and friendly. Recommend an early morning appointment so it's quiet & zen! - tons of lounge chairs at the pool. - free shuttle service around the resort. - pool & beachside food/beverage service. - lots of shopping options! - We ate at the following restaurants & were more than satisfied with the food at all of them: Seaglass (breakfast, cocktails & late night dessert), Oceanside (lunch & dinner), Falcon's Nest (dinner), Sunrise cafe (breakfast buffet). - bellhop service took our luggage straight from our car to the room for us. - front desk, poolside, beachside & restaurant staff were all nice, attentive & informative. CONS: - the bathroom in our room was tiny, specifically the toilet and shower area. Our over-shower fan did not work and was collecting dust. We couldn't spread our legs wider than hip distance while sitting on the toilet. - furniture needs a revamp. Two worn down chairs and tiny table on our balcony were on their last dying breath. - WHY ARE HOTEL PILLOWS SO FLAT and they only give you the bare minimum amount. - got lucky with where our room was located but if we got unlucky enough to be right above the pool would've been pissed with how much noise there is. The music, screaming children, and restaurant commotion would be a nuisance. - I wish the adult pool would've been further away from the family pool & baby splash pad. They're literally right next to each other. The kids activities being announced over the loudspeaker could be heard everywhere and we wanted to relax. - hotel would tremendously benefit from just a straight-up Starbucks or coffee shop. The only option for craft/iced coffee was from Seaglass in the lobby and they seemed really short staffed for how much demand there was in the morning. - If I had known the entire resort was outdoors (other than the lobby and guest rooms) I probably wouldn't have booked us in late August, 7 months pregnant. It was hot and sweaty walking everywhere. The resort is huge/spread out so there's a lot of walking involved getting from place to place. - Value is not there. Paid $500 a NIGHT for a room and nothing seems to be included in that price. Additional state & county taxes applied, a $40 resort fee and $25 self-parking fee PER DAY. Want to use an umbrella and chairs on the beach? That'll be $75 extra dollars MINIMUM. If you want a larger umbrella that fits more than 2 people or god forbid a cabana for the whole family, you'll be spending upwards of $125 to rent that for the day. - why is there a tip option for EVERYTHING? I walked up to the counter, placed my order, you made my order, I walked away. That's your JOB! What about that deserves a tip? Same with the umbrellas on the beach/pool, why are you asking for a tip when we have to pay to use these amenities that should be included anyways? - oddly enough, the spa service seemed the most reasonably priced! I paid $186 with 20% tip included for a pre-natal massage and I thought that was fair. Every meal we ate (breakfast and lunch included) was upwards of $50 for two people. - they have the audacity to ask if you want fresh linens, towels, trash taken out, maid service to the room every day or if you want to opt out to "save the environment".... What am I paying $500 a night for? YES I WANT DAILY SERVICE. OVERALL: This is more of a family with young kids vacation spot rather than a romantic getaway. Be prepared to spend an exuberant amount if you want to eat at any of the on-site restaurants or want to participate in any tours, golf, beach days, etc. The hotel felt safe, and no issues with service staff everyone was pleasant. The property scenery is beautiful, lots of lush plants trees and of course the ocean. The highlight of my trip was the spa and eating poolside!

Yelp
Omni Amelia Island Resort is a great spot to unwind and relax! Love the walk up bar by the pool. Their pina colada's are amazing! the beach access after grabbing a drink or (2) worth it. I have seen turtles at this before before so that was nice to see

Yelp
Really expansive resort in a beautiful location. The amenities are great and the service staff throughout was very good but the place is need of remodeling the buildings and rooms feel old and dated. The main lobby and pool areas are nice. Good food at their on site restaurants.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here 2 weeks ago for a staycation. We live in Jacksonville and Amelia Island is less than an hour for us to travel so this was definitely a great place for a staycation. We checked in on a Friday evening, they were pretty busy but they were quick to check us in. Omni Amelia Island definitely did an amazing job. When you first enter the view of the ocean and the pool was outstanding! The lobby was always clean and smells good! We got the pool view at the second floor, the room was nice! very spacious and has a balcony which I love! The only thing I did not like about our stay was we can hear everything on our room especially the outside. I am a very light sleeper and that irritated me, the first evening I did not get any sleep. So the second night I put towels underneath our door and it did helped. But other than that, I am obsessed with this resort! they have adult pool only that have pool service. The restaurants here was amazing and the staff, The staff was top notch! Now, we found our perfect little place for our staycation!

Yelp
Flying into Jacksonville airport, the resort is a good 25 minute drive. I rented a car only because I was traveling alone and didn't feel secure taking a long Uber ride by myself in the early evening. I'm sure glad I drove because the drive was serene and the sunset views along the marshlands were spectacular. The resort was definitely huge that opens up to more than 3 miles of beach, with the Atlantic Ocean at its feet. Sure, some people can argue that the resort needs some updating. But for me, nothing beats taking a morning stroll, with your bare feet touching the sand, and watching the sun rise over the ocean. I was here for a work conference so I didn't have as much time to explore the resort or the entire island for that matter. This is definitely one of those places you can take your partner or your entire family to unwind and relax because they offer something for everyone.

Yelp
Omni Amelia island was great. The hotel was huge!, the property has everything you need to relax and enjoy a getaway. The beach is beautiful and the view from The ocean front rooms are priceless. The rooms are large, clean and the beds are comfortable. Lots of food choices with 10 different restaurants. I recommend the "falcons nest" for a cold drink and huge delicious hand burgers. Pools super nice. Cant beat the white sandy beach.

Yelp
The Omni hosted our military ball, but I was disappointed by their steep price increases for service members, charging $12 for water, $13 per soda with no refills and $20 for alcoholic beverages. Typically, service members stay and enjoy themselves at the ball, but this was the first time I witnessed service members departing immediately due to costly prices. Rather than honoring our military personnel, the Omni capitalized on their presence and charged unreasonable prices.

Yelp
We are here during off-season, over the holidays. Our room has a stunning view of the sunrise from the fourth floor. The adult pool is closed but the family pool is open and it has a really nice shallow end area that my three year old is enjoying. There's also a splash pad and beach access from the family pool area. Today we took a break from swimming and enjoyed some lunch at the Oceanside restaurant next to the pool. We found the ingredients to be fresh and the service was friendly and fast. I'm not certain if camp, Amelia runs during this off-season, but if you happen to go during the same weekend as we are going now, you can run the kids by Fernandina historic old town for the dickens on center festival. That's where we are headed later today after we wash up . This hotel has a very cute little holiday touches and I'm thankful to say that they have a Hanukkah on display and you can request one for your room as well . We have been to Amelia Island before, and have experience the Ritz, but find the Omni more compelling simply because of the village of shops and restaurants and all of the activities that are very family friendly..

Yelp
Omni Resort Staying at the Omni Resort at Amelia Island was nice but the resort is in need of a renovation. The interior furniture and exterior paint are dated. I was surprised to see artificial plants as a centerpiece and all throughout the lobby. I've never seen that and I didn't like it. If you're so far North Fl to have exotic tropical foliage, then look for exotic foliage that can survive in colder climates, as is done in California. I was also surprised to see metal railings instead of glass, which looked rusted and obstructed the oceanview room we had. The shower leaked, so we had a soggy mess of towels on the floor, which sucks and shouldn't happen in a high end resort. The property is beautiful and has nice amenities that help make those minor inconveniences better. There are several pools on property, including an indoor adult infinity pool but it was closed. All pools are heated, which was quite nice. There are many restaurants on the property & shops. All are open to the public & have access from the street. The restaurants are worth trying. The Staff was exceptional. Everyone was very nice & that made it all worth it.

Yelp
This is a nice family getaway spot. The water is beautiful, the grounds are lush, there's plenty of activities to do with a family. This is not a spot (especially the villas) for business travelers. I was there for a short conference. I arrived at night after flight delays. It takes 45 mins to get there from JAX. If you Uber then the only place to get provisions is the hotel. I arrived at like 8:30 pm via Uber from the airport. It's pitch black outside, so I have no idea where anything is, luckily Uber dropped me off at the right place for check in or I would have been wandering around the massive property at night with all my luggage. I get there and check-in then I'm told I have to walk or shuttle to my villa. I was pretty grumpy about that. There's no room service in the villas so you have to shuttle to the main resort for food and for bottled water! There's no bottled waters in the villa rooms. Not even a paid option. What the heck!! Now that's fine for families who went grocery shopping and stocked their rooms. But it really sucks for business travelers with no car who arrive late. The main store to buy snacks and water has lame hours and it was closed. So I felt provision-less on the first night, and I wasn't happy about that. But to their credit, the front staff was very nice and offered to walk me to the restaurant, helped me get a to go order going, and called a shuttle for me. I think they could tell I was disoriented and overwhelmed from my flight and annoyed about not having provisions in my room. They remained professional and helpful. Their good customer service earned this hotel an extra star, so definitely keep that up. It is a beautiful (albeit dated) property. The water is lovely. And there are rabbits and turtles and other nature to see. It is nice. You just have to walk a lot, like more than normal at a big hotel, and it's really not ideal for business travelers there for a short conference. Great for a long getaway where you stock the room with groceries and just relax. Not great for fast pace where you need convenience and ease. Pro tips. --bring your own water!! --Have a car to get around. Lots of walking. --Breakfast at the hotel is awesome. Best hotel breakfast buffet I've ever had with a beautiful view of the water. --security gate. Made me feel safer. Cons. --Not for business travelers. --No room service in villas. --Because it's so remote Uber and UberEats aren't reliable options.

I'd go back if I could afford it! This resort is in a beautiful location. The beach was not crowded, and it was really long. There were also a surprising amount of animals - turtles, birds, lizards, fish -- and very few bugs! My only negative would be the bathroom. For such a nice resort, the bathroom was really strange. It had almost no counter space and the shower was one of the oldest showers I have ever seen.

Yelp
I visited the Omni Amelia Island with a group of approximately 50 for two nights in June 2022. I stayed with three others in a three bedroom three and half bath nature villa. I would have given the Omni 4 stars if the Villa was not so disappointing. The villa interior was tired and dated. There were dead and live roaches and spiders throughout. The hotel housekeeping should clean the spiderwebs with live spiders in them off the walls before visitors check in. Also make sure dead roaches are gone. Also, all bathrooms did not come with toiletries. Bathrooms should come with soap if they have a toilet and shampoo and conditioner of they have a shower. The beach and grounds are beautiful. The setting and resort have all of the amenities for a perfect beach vacation for family or friends. The resort is expansive but nothing is included so be ready to pay. There are a variety of restaurants on the property including a pizza place a steak house, a cafe, coffee, mediterranean, etc. At $2200 for two nights (group rate for 50ish) would have expected a little more out of the villa. The rate did come with a very nice buffet brunch at Verandah and a welcome reception with one cocktail included and hors d'oeuvres.

Yelp
My wife had a conference here and we had a really good experience as a family. The staff were all super friendly both at the resort and in the nearby shops. The beach area was sparsely crowded and the pool wasn't too bad, at least during the week. Towels for the pool and beach are readily available. My kids (ages 4 and 6) did Camp Amelia one night while my wife and I had a date. They were the only kids there, but they had a blast playing games, doing crafts, and making smores with the babysitter. My only complaint is that the resort could use one or two more affordable dining options, including a grab-and-go breakfast place. Sunrise Cafe seemed too expensive for two small children, who may or may not be hungry. We wound up going to Marche Burette or eating off site most days. Also, a heads up for people driving to the resort: bring your own chairs and umbrellas. The prices to reserve them on site are very high (exorbitantly so the closer you get to check-in... we missed out on a cabana after a 3-fold increase...), but no one will give you a stink eye if you bring your own and set them up closer to the water. We saw many people do this.

Yelp
Beautiful resort! Huge campus with various buildings, golf courses, restaurants, conference center etc. Had a wonderful time staying here. Lounging by the pool was perfect and the service was awesome. Julio kept the drinks flowing and was very attentive. I would definitely come back and stay again.

Yelp
So many reasons. First of all, room was never cleaned during entire stay. 5 days of garbage. No clean towels. Ridiculous. Prices are stupid. I live in Manhattan and I think these prices are absurd. I get that you think you are entitled to inflate prices because you are a "resort" but your food isn't good. You can't charge Ritz Carlton prices because they are down the road. I had to examine each receipt with a microscope because I was constantly being over charged. The restitution we got for living in squaller was $175 in "resort fees" that I didn't know I was responsible for anyway. Seems high for a rusted out, corroded, beat up hotel. Just don't stay here. Ever.

Yelp
The staff is amazing. Everyone is kind and friendly. Being right on the ocean is the draw for this resort. The valet was great. They always had the vehicle ready by the time we arrived at the front after calling. The outdoor bar below our room was extremely noisy and had a constant clanging of dishes and carts rolling by. They were wrapping silverware outside and you could hear the silverware. You could hear them washing dishes at the end of the night which made it difficult to sleep because of the noise. This place could be rated better if they attended to a lot of the details they are missing out on: The "frosted" glass of the windows was a peel and stick frost, with lots of bubbles in it and didn't fully cover the window. The furniture is really worn and broken down. The caulking of the shower area is really sloppy. The tile in the shower is crooked and the grout lines are different colors. There was dust hanging from the picture frames. Many of the exterior doors were covered in rust, which is probably due to the salty air, but it really made things look dingy and neglected. The birds were very annoying and frightening in some instances as they were diving for food on tables while trying to dine outdoors and many flying low and around the pool. I had to duck multiple times to avoid them. Our friend also had bird poo dropped on him. Many of the restaurants and shops were closed so it made food options during lunch and "happy hour" time pretty slim. Had they had the restaurants that weren't undergoing renovations open earlier we would have eaten there more, but instead left the property to go eat elsewhere. As stated before; this place could be rated better if they took the time and effort into maintaining things better.

Yelp
We came here to stay for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. We used our Amex card and it's hotel collection offer along with some of our points to pay the $600 night charge. We were given an upgrade to a suite as part of Amex. Our room had a perfect view and was meticulously clean. Service from staff at every encounter was professional and friendly. We used the valet for parking each night at $40 per day. This should be included at a hotel of this caliber. Self parking is $25, which most certainly should be complimentary! The property shuttle is on demand which is convenient. We at at Falcons nest one night which was delicious bbq!! Cool aviation themed sports bar. Make reservations ahead though! We are at pool bar second night and had a poke bowl, delicious! Bring your own beach chairs, their plastic loungers and umbrella isn't worth $50! Cabanas are outrageous. We have stayed at other hotels where these were complimentary for guests. Cocktails are $16 and beers $8/9. Bring your own in your beach bag..they don't search your belongings . Its a lovely stay. Piano bar in lobby lounge is small but nice. Fireplaces around the pool with rocking chairs are relaxing in the evening. In our opinion guests are paying "the Ritz" prices but not getting the caliber. Keep these extra fees in mind when making your selection. Our reviews to management would be to include complimentary parking and beach chairs, also follow up with guests on their final night or morning to see how to improve.

Yelp
Great resort with everything you could want or need in one central location! My fiancé and I stayed here for a get away trip from Jupiter. The staff was friendly & the checkin/checkout process was easy. We had a great time adventuring around the resort with has - golf, tennis, picklball, classes to learn, yoga, gym, multiple pools, beach, golf cart rentals... ... that's just to name a few! Great place to stay for the whole family!

Yelp
Really nice resort, friendly staff. Lots of children running around but I guess because it's summer. The only reason for three stars mainly is because everything was an extra cost. Usually when I stay at expensive resorts, you have access to the beach chairs belonging to the resort. The cabana and beach chair rentals for $50-$600. The cabana was around $625 and the beach chairs with four chairs was around $400, the beach chairs with an umbrella and two chairs was $50 for the day. It was quite windy on the beach, so those umbrellas were coming out of the sand and flying across the beach, which was a little dangerous. The room was spacious, but also very overpriced. Wonderful views of the sunrise and the Beach

Yelp
Five stars this place was super friendly, clean smelled clean the staff all had mask. The breakfast buffet was amazing everything was so freshly made Egg bar eggs anyway you like them. Freshly made bread you cut your own bread slices. Jams all kinds and fresh honey right off the honey comb. Freshly squeezed orange juice, cold brew coffee.. they had the best chia pudding.. Food was all amazing. But there were fleas or some kind of bugs in the sand we got bit up.... And it got worse when we had a dinner event inside we got bit up inside all over our legs and arms. Other than the bugs our rooms were nice clean they offered room cleaning.. beds are comfortable.

Yelp
Stayed at the Omni Amelia Island Resort a few times but something has changed as of late. Last stay was 6/21/24 and there was no running water in the shower or tub, Front desk apologized but that was it. After that visit, you couldn't even provide hotel feedback on the Omni website as the Submit button hasn't"t worked for the last three weeks. Not sure what happened at this place but it's a shame.

Yelp
We stayed for 4 night and paid over $600 a night. Beach chairs and umbrellas not included $100 a day for 3-4 people, they don't mention that valet parking is not included (another $35 a day), so I was tipping $5-$10 every time I needed the car. Another $35 a day are being charge to have access to the resort installations (yep, pool, restaurants, beach, etc). Shouldn't this be included in your room rate??? There is no service at the beach, so if you want cocktails or food, you must do a 30-40 minutes line by the pool and then 45-60 minutes the get the food. This was ridiculous and unbelievable!!!! The resort has some nice areas. However, some of the bathrooms were completely outdated. The staff is really nice but completely overwhelmed! They never cleaned the room, if you wanted clean towels you had to call the front desk. You needed coffee supplies (coffee, sugar, cups, stirs) you had to call the front desk. Your trash was full, you had to call the front desk... Really??? So having that said, NOT COMING BACK, definitely not worth $600/night plus all the other fees before mentioned.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the scenery. The food was great. I'm just hanging out at the pool in the beach.

Yelp
Here for our 22nd anniversary. It's fantabulous! They have a Segway tour to an Indian burial ground at 10am and 3pm. We were gonna take it, but I didn't feel well and we had to pass on it. The pools are majestic, w lovely hot tubs. Had a massage, it was great. Buffet breakfast is exceptional... there is OJ hand made! I tried Gouda for the first time in an omelet w ham. OMG, is it good! A shuttle takes you around the 1,400 acre property wherever you need to go. All in all, we had a great time. Things here are a little pricey, but worth it.

Yelp
Our first stay at Omni's Amelia Island Resort was fabulous. As Omni Black level customers we were treated to such nice amenities by the staff. Our fantastic Omni post-Thanksgiving getaway started when we entered the gorgeous pristine compound and pulled up to the beautiful hotel. The valet, Tommy, was professional and helpful and equally as helpful was our bellhop, William. Manuel, our floor attendant for our stay was also very helpful with last minute room amenities. Omni's Loyalty Ambassador, Jennifer Alberici, who greeted us upon arrival, was our point of contact during our stay. Jennifer's professionalism and efficiency helped guide us, as new visitors to the Omni Amelia Island Resort's amenities and restaurants. Omni's other Loyalty Ambassador, Dorothy Powell, set some fun amenities in our beautiful suite which we truly appreciated after our long drive. The hotel is large and gorgeous - especially the pool decks on the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel was doing some hotel lobby patio deck repairs and it was being worked quietly and with little disruption. We were upgraded to the top (7th) floor stunning oceanfront king suite. We truly appreciated how the hotel staff had decorated the room and stocked Champagne in a fun manner for my wife's birthday. (Please see pictures). While at Omni Amelia Island Resort we enjoyed the Sea Glass lobby bar, Falcon's Nest (Tyler the bar tender) and Verandah restaurants (Shane McCarthy the manager and Jing our server) as well as the Oak Marsh Golf Club Grill. All these establishments were excellent and served delicious hot food entrees and great cocktails. We also enjoyed a very fun golf round at the new (6-month old) Little Sandy Golf Course. Little Sandy is a 10-hole Par 3 course with a terrific 18-hole putting green course. The Little Sandy was a stunningly gorgeous natural course around a massive lagoon filled with Blue Herons, ducks, Osprey, Red Tail Hawk, and a Bald Eagle. If you are visiting the Omni with kids or adults, the Little Sandy Golf Course is a must have fun activity. We played through in about an hour enjoying the gorgeous nature scenery and stereo Country music played around the course. The Omni's pool patios were gorgeous, clean, and beautifully decorated with lights at night. We ordered cocktails from the pool bar staff and enjoyed the shady patio around the adult pool. The family pool is massive, they have a splash zone pool for young children, as well a hot tub. We talked with the pool staff who told us the pool patios are packed during the summer months due to the popularity of the setting. We also enjoyed the Omni beach walk access and the pristine Amelia Island beach which was loaded with sea shells. We also recommend a hike in the "Sunken Forest" from the beach hotel. The boardwalk and steps lead you through a pristine Oak Grove up a huge dune onto a great deck with chairs and a bench to see the beach and Atlantic. The deck is a great place to watch the sunrise. We have been to Omni's Hilton Head Island Resort, Oak Grove Resort (Asheville, NC), and now the Amelia Island Resort. By far we had the best time at Omni Amelia Island Resort and we will definitely return in 2023. Many thanks to Omni Amelia Island Resort staff for making our 3-night 4-day stay so welcoming and enjoyable.

Yelp
Love this resort! Everything was beautiful. Excellent cabanas service. Pool was nice and warm, with easy beach access. There is also a nice fire pit that you can sit by / make s'mores at. The rooms were nice, but shower handles are weird to work and definitely need improved.

Yelp
Had the best time at the Omni. Attended The Hybrid Collective conference and stayed on property. Dined at the poolside restaurant for lunch and dinner everyday. Definitely will be back to visit with family!

Yelp
This resort has beautiful vistas, lots of birds, amazing golf courses, excellent food and lots and lots of beautiful trees all over. The restaurants are all the very good too extremely amazing. The pool area is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy your stay!

Yelp
This resort accommodates for children and disabled in MOST locations however we attended a wedding at Walkers Landing and there was not a changing table installed in the restroom and I had to change my daughter on a bench outside of the venue. It is also extremely difficult to navigate the pool area if you are in a wheelchair. Install a changing table at all restaurants and venues and I'd give this location 5 stars. The staff here was absolutely wonderful and pleasant.

Yelp
Service upon arrival- very good! Friendly. Good bellhop. Good front desk experience. Room - upon arrival, dead bugs in sinks and bathtub Room - toilet not functioning correctly. Called, not fixed correctly. Called again, never showed up. Room - no service. No coffee refill. Room - keys not coded correctly. Had to take a .6 mile walk to the front desk to get it fixed after dinner on day 1. Food- bar drinks are 18 dollars, beer is 8-9 dollars. Food - onsite restaurant - falcon one - wait was 1h to get seated. Dinner took 1.5 hours, including a 20 minute wait after getting the bill - hoping to waitress would return. Food was good Food - onsite - pizza place - no tables being cleaned or cleared between guests. Long wait as well. Food was good.

Yelp
I stayed at the villas. The pavers out to the beach crumbled under my feet. I got scratched up and hurt my ankle. Other than a security guard getting an incident report from me, I've heard NOTHING from the Omni! They will not take ownership of this situation, but they will sure take my money. I called after the stay to complain about this situation and was passed off to SEVEN different people. Not sure what's happening to the quality of the Omni, but if you want a nice stay, go to the Ritz!

Yelp
We just completed a 4-night stay at this resort, and while most of the employees seem eager to please, our experience was maybe three stars. We heard conflicting stories from various workers about opening times, amenities and how to get where we wanted to go. Communication from management is poor, according to most of them. The rooms are about what you'd expect, although it took some effort to actually get the room we booked. The restaurants and activities are only about 40% back to normal; there weren't many options to keep us busy. There's not much to do on Amelia in a pandemic, so I'd wait before booking.

Yelp
Beautiful huge resort and the views from our room were amazing. Definitely a place i want to come to again and spend more time. Room was spacious and clean. Shower definitely not made for tall people though.

Yelp
The trip I had been planning for my wife's birthday didn't start out exactly as I thought it would by our room not being ready and the front desk attendant telling me that I had booked last minute was the reason our room wasn't ready. I felt as though she was trying to push the mistake off on us when in fact I had been planning this trip for months. Thankfully Lily took over and made everything right! She got down on our level and took her time explaining all the things the resort has to offer even giving us great recommendations! We are very grateful she was able to send up a special treat for my wife and gave us a free night! The room service waiter on Saturday was a JOY! He set everything up and paid such close attention to the details! He wanted everything to be just right! Our room had a gorgeous view of the ocean, but it could have been cleaner. You could tell that housekeeping is very rushed and they don't properly wipe things down and dust. It was a little unsettling to see the glass so neglected throughout the entire resort. However, we were very impressed with the gentleman that swept the boardwalk every single morning. We also enjoyed how attentive Leah was when we were on the pool deck! She made sure we had everything we needed! The girls at Amelia's Wheels were delightful and very accommodating! We had a blast on the island hopper and the putt putt golf was so much fun! Kathe was great and gave us so many helpful tips! We ended our trip with the most helpful and cheerful bellhop, Ron! His sense of humor was awesome and overall we had a very nice time.

Yelp
I'm so mad. Once is an accident, twice is a trend. When you charge your order to your room the workers at the pool area charge extra tip to your credit card assuming that you won't catch it when you check out. At lunch the waiter charged an extra $5.00 and at the bar the worked added an additional dollar. It's just dishonest. Really makes me sick.

Yelp
This is an absolutely amazing hotel/resort. Sadly, I couldn't not stay here during the conference I attended in Amelia Island. Registration started long before I started working at the new company that wanted me to attend. By the time I registered the hotel was booked solid. I had to stay at another hotel on the island. Shame really, this hotel looked beautiful. Nevertheless, I can still review it since I was here for a week in the conference area. The conference areas areas are spacious and comfortable... they actually have comfortable seating for the classes which believe me isn't always the case. The employees of the hotel working at the conference area are very respectful and helpful. They always were happy to give me directions. Why is that important? The hotel is huge... huge it as bus stops so that you can go from one part of the resort to another. The resort has gulf courses, plenty of restaurants, and shops. I did do some shopping here. Got some nice souvenirs of my trip. The food was fantastic! The best conference food I have ever had. My favorite meal was the breakfast on the last day of the conference. They set tables in a grass area... it was like having a picnic. They served a large amount of food and I totally pigged out... coffee, orange juice, breads of different kinds, eggs both scrambled and poached, southern fried chicken, honey ham, sausage, bacon... yeah down the hatch lol! Only problem with this hotel is that it's pretty far away from historic Amelia Island... which is a really cool part of the island. So you will have to drive a bit to get there... I guess that's the only issue with the hotel. Great place! Wish I could have stayed here and not just enjoyed it while I was in class.

Yelp
Everyone was so extremely friendly and helpful. Diedra at the front desk in particular was amazing. We were able to chat with Trey at the Verandah, who was currently in the manager training program. That was interesting to learn about. Very impressive people. There is so much to do on this resort you'll never have to leave, it's huge!

Yelp
What started as a bad first impression turned into an amazing vacation! The hospitality was absolutely delightful. The chef's were more than informative and accommodating for my aunt's celiac and severe gluten allergy. The private beach was more than astonishing. Our cabana was gorgeous and the outside team was so friendly. The highlight of our vacation was our dinner experience at the Verandah. Chef Margaret came to our table to discuss gluten free options and even made my aunt a custom off-menu dessert. (Strawberry shortcake!) Our servers were phenomenal and made the experience superb.

Yelp
I had great expectations for Omni Amelia Island, but our experience fell flat. Rooms were about $600/night + $35 per day resort charge + $20 per day self-parking fee (or $35 valet plus tipping) Bikes are $35 per day. We brought our on beach chairs to avoid the $100/day fee for that. For these prices, I'd expect similar to Kiawah, SC or another high-end beachfront hotel. Omni was just average. Our room was right above the pool. It was outdated and several items needed repairing. The pool area was frequently out of pool towels and not well-cleaned; cups and trash were on the adult pool deck. I would not recommend staying at Omni Amelia Island.

Yelp
I've been Yelp Elite for years and I try to give positive reviews whenever I can, but this place is a JOKE. "Omni Safe & Clean"? This place is nasty! We feel like we're trapped in the resort from hell. They're using COVID-19 as an excuse for no service. And I mean NO service. No room service, no housekeeping, no turndown service, no complimentary coffee for guests, NOTHING. Trash piling up in the room, spent linens and towels, we have to make up our own bed. Not that we're above that, but for $300 a day we shouldn't have to. It appears Omni is using the virus as a crutch. Outside our room is nasty. We have visited other resorts in Florida recently and they were all back to full service. Omni is NOT following CDC guidelines, not now. There is no excuse for this. It's their feeble way of cutting costs. In addition there's a 1" gap in our door, so we hear every outside sound, and in the afternoon the sun shines through the gap. Omni Safe & Clean? See the picture for just how clean that is. NEVER AGAIN!

Yelp
My wife and I Just returned from celebrating both NYE 2024 and my college buddy's Bday! We all had a blast at this resort! They do NYE parties right and we are hard core parties form Las Vegas lol Right from checkin we loved this gorgeous 1400 acre Omni Amelia Island property!!! All the hotel staff, bellman, valet, housekeeping, front desk employees especially the 2 Sea Glass NYE senior bartenders were 5 star friendly, accommodating and very professional. Out 5th floor immaculate room was AWESOME and everything from the bed, pillows, SPECTACULAR balcony VIEWS and nicely pressurized rain head shower were all perfect. The rooms just need more cell phone charging locations. The NYE celebration was over the top, the DJ, fire pits, drinks, free champagne and awesome desert chocolate table were perfect.. A big shout out for the food drinks and hardworking smiling bartender Deborah for making our NYE night memorable and EPIC....My wife and I were talking how we hate the 3 star haters of this property. Ofcourse drinks, room rates and food are a bit spendy but look at the, beauty and beach location of this resort will ya?! If you are a Yelper and can't afford a nice weekend at this property then trash your checking account not the Omni. See ya next NYE already looking forward to another stay here.

Yelp
Had higher expectations for this resort, and I think a lot of it had to do with COVID and the fact that they were short-staffed, but it was still overall not the greatest experience. The resort amenities are beautiful. The multiple pools, the fact that it's right on the beach, and the beautiful golf course and grounds you can explore. Unfortunately, the bar and restaurant service at the pool was sub par besides one shining rockstar, Charlie (who absolutely crushed it and took care of us everyday and ran around getting food and drinks for what felt like half of the resort). Again, I'm sure it was from COVID and being short-staffed, but it affected our overall experience (especially when you're paying $15+/drink). The rooms were okay; nothing to write home about. The view was probably the best part... waking up and looking out at the ocean. Otherwise, the AC didn't work well, the bathroom fixtures were a bit wonky and out of date, and our mini fridge didn't work. Oh, and they weren't doing room service (I think it was COVID-related?) which would have been better if there was anywhere else to get late-night food, but that wasn't the case either. Closest thing was Dominos and if you didn't get an order in by 9 pm (also, who orders late-night, post-drinking food at 9 pm?) you were totally out of luck. Clearly you can tell what's important to us on vacation, haha. Overall, it's not what I expected for a 4-star hotel and probably wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
Leah was so great and helpful to help my daughter find her lost items at the pool. She was so happy!

Yelp
Stayed over at Omni Amelia Island Plantation for a work event. It's is a little bit away from civilization located in the extreme northeast corner of Florida, almost touching Georgia. We got there around 11am. They checked us but our room was not ready so we decided to walk around the resort check out the different boutique shops and restaurants. Got the room around 2pm. Nice room with great view of the pool and the ocean. Barely had enough time to take a short nap and hit the shower. Nice little spot to spend a couple of nights away from the city life. Next time will come in for a longer stay. One day is barely enough to do Anything. Next time will try to stay for a few nights.

Yelp
Resort is in desperate need of updates. Our room was never cleaned the entirety of our stay (when we called to ask for new towels , the housecleaning service left new towels in a plastic bag by the door and did not pick up our used linens). Our balcony door was broken, toilet was running all night and our TV did not work. When I approached the front desk about it, the manager said "what do you want me to do about it". Awful experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
