These Are the 23 Best Four-Star Hotels in NYC - AFAR

"A nearly century-old Midtown property prized for its large, quiet rooms (standard rooms start around 271 square feet) and playful themed suites—such as the FAO Schwartz family suite and the Rogers & Hammerstein suite—anchored by a marble lobby, a 24-hour fitness center, Berk’s Bar comfort food, and a 17th-floor terrace with clear views toward St. Patrick’s Cathedral; the hotel is slated for a renovation in honor of its 100th anniversary." - Jennifer Flowers

From Lenny the Doorman to Venus our Room Attendant, we felt truly welcomed—not just to the Omni, but to New York itself. They made our first visit to the city unforgettable, and we’re so thankful for both of them. The room was comfortable, and we loved our view of the street. Every staff member we encountered asked if we needed anything, which made us feel well cared for. The whole place has such a great vibe. Great location, and walking distance to Grand Central, Times Square & Central Park. We’ll definitely be back!

You have the choice to stay a lot of places in a lot of different parts of NYC. This hotel has a great location to do whatever you want. It is clean, comfortable and friendly. The staff was there to help but not in your face. We came in from NJ just for the weekend to see a concert and a show. We walked to just about everything, including Central Park. The Omni is out of the circus of the Times Square/Broadway area but close enough to walk. The quality was great. Definitely a go-to place if you are staying overnight in NYC.

My experience at the Omni Berkshire was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by the thoughtful touches and refined service. Ms Arruda went above and beyond arranging fresh flowers, elegant birthday decorations, and a personalized card along with welcome champagne this truly transformed my stay into a truly memorable occasion. Her professionalism and grace reflect the highest standard of hospitality.||Every detail was impeccable: housekeeping flawless, staff attentive, and the service seamless. Lenny the doorman, is efficient as well as warm and welcoming. His charm and energy adds an unexpected delight to the overall guest experience. ||The Omni Berkshire combines sophistication with genuine care, which creates an atmosphere where a West Virginia country girl can feel both pampered and at home in the big city. I highly recommend this property and Ms Arruda for anyone celebrating a special event or seeking luxury, comfort, close to the action comfort. I received outstanding service in the heart of New York City. Please work to Champion level on Omni's loyalty program, so you can enjoy coffee in your room, such a treat!! Thank you Omni!

Our trip at the Omni in New York City was a wonderful experience. From check-in to check out we were made to feel like royalty! We enjoyed the large well-equipped room, the lobby was beautiful too. It was really the staff that made the stay so wonderful; especially Lenny and Bobby at the doors. Also, the gentleman who brought our breakfast room service went above and beyond to make my 10-year-old granddaughter’s birthday special. I believe his name was Sharman (sp?). ||The location was perfect too just a couple blocks from Rockefeller Center and multiple other attractions.

A truly wonderful stay! From the moment we arrived, the experience at Omni Berkshire Place was welcoming and smooth. Check-in was quick and seamless, and the staff made us feel right at home. Special shoutout to Lenny the Doorman, who greeted us with warmth every time we came and went—he made a big city feel more personal. And the concierge service was exceptional, always helpful with recommendations and directions that made our trip even better. The location is unbeatable, and the hotel strikes that perfect balance between classic luxury and modern comfort. We’d absolutely stay again!

Book this hotel!!! The staff was wonderful. Yumi (or Yuri?) at the front desk was amazing and so kind to my step daughter! The hotel staff was there for anything we needed... plus a great location to walk and see lots of city sights! Would definitely stay again

My family and I stayed here for 3 days while visiting New York City last week. The Hotel was conveniently located and a very close walk to Rockefeller center and the MOMA museum. The Hotel lobby was clean, and had a sophisticated yet comfortable style. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. And of course the amazing bell hop who pulled our bags out of the taxi during the rain storm last week, and got us quickly and safely inside to Check-in. The room was clean and we had no issues with the A/C or the elevators, everything was working properly. They were also kind enough to bring up a small refrigerator upon our request. The Terrace on the 17th floor has a nice view, especially at night. We also ate at Berk's Bar 3 times. A special thank you to Thomas for making our experience there so much fun! We will definitely be staying at this hotel again when we come back to visit NYC!

Google
We shared 4 days and nights at the Omni Berkshire Place and we were delighted with the stay. Being relatively new to Manhattan, we felt we could not have found a better location to stay than right in the heart of mid-town. The room was comfortable and well appointed, but it was the kind and friendly attitude and service that was most enjoyed. We especially would like to thank Andrew at Breakfast at Berk's Bar who we met and appreciated his advice, information and general friendly and kind conversation. All of our other interactions with the staff were just easy and pleasant. Should our path lead back to the city we will be sure to return to the Omni. Thank you.

Yelp
Hey! Not a Bad choice depending on your needs and expectations. Pros: Great location, friendly staff and clean rooms and premises. Gym was pretty cool. Not large but decent amount of equipment, weights and space. Nest toiletries were a nice touch. Cons: The bed was not comfortable and neither were the pillows. The bed sinks in the entire middle and is in desperate need of a replacement! The housekeeping staff does a good job however they walked into our room twice! They knocked before 9 am on a Saturday AM and walked in. Lady was very nice when I asked her to please return a few hours later but I was shocked that she just opened the door. Same thing happened at checkout. Checkout is at noon. Lady knocked just once very lightly, walked in at 11:43. I told her we would be checking out very soon. We were out in the morning and returned to grab our belongings and check out. Imagine I was naked or in the shower? There should be a better method of confirming if rooms are vacant. I would stay here again due to the location. Close to Rockefeller and fifth ave ur shopping. Can walk to Times Square as well if you are able to. We didn't try Bert's place but appeared to be good. We went to Bills Burger nearby which is always a good choice. We went to Faces and Names because we love that place. Also went to Palace for pancakes which was OK about 9 blocks away. Overall had a great time in the area visiting flagship shopping stores, st Patrick's cathedral etc.

Yelp
Large room and bathroom for NYC. It was tastefully decorated and quiet. Location was great for Rockefeller center. Concierge was terrific!

Yelp
100% yes to this hotel! It is located near so many amazing things. The only thing we didn't love was the restaurant, but we didn't come here to eat anyway. The hotel staff and concierge were phenomenal. Most importantly, the hotel was CLEAN, and this is a huge deal because I legitimately have OCD related to cleanliness. I'm a mental health pro, so no joke - diagnosed OCD. Definitely stay here. It's worth it.

Yelp
Smaller size boutique hotel just off the fifth avenue and Central Park in prime location. As we can imagine rooms are on the smaller side, but well furnished and very clean. House keeping team members were attentive. Registration staff were professional and efficient and excellent with providing answers to travelers random questions. I believe this is a great accommodation for the price. WiFi was working great for me. No complaints!

Yelp
The Omni has been a long time favorite home away from home, however with a couple of our most recent trips, I unfortunately think that I will have to look into other hotels. The entrance, lobby, and room were nice as always. The bathroom had 'Nest' products that were nice but too sparse and the bathroom only had one robe in it. The room was not very clean either, in fact we found multiple 'gifts' from the previous occupants, which ranged from socks to door dash bags. In my opinion, no matter how nice the hotel is nor how lavishly it is decorated, the cleanliness is of the upmost importance, and unfortunately the Omni greatly disappointed us this time. The gym was a decent size with a good range of choices for exercise; free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and peloton bikes. There was also complimentary water and towels embroidered with the hotels name and emblem. The terrace right across the hallway had a lovely ambience and slight view of the St.Patricks Cathedral. Overall, the Omni is still an okay hotel choice, however, I hope they take their cleanliness and service into more consideration and make some major changes as I will be staying elsewhere in New York next time I travel here.

Yelp
We stayed here overnight and it wasn't too bad! The lobby was nice and cool after being out in the heat. The rooms were spacious compared to other stays in the city. Unfortunately there were not any water in the rooms or a mini fridge. The king room was nice, though the headboard was in beat up condition. Overall convenient location and nice space- the weekend we stayed prices weren't bad either.

Joanne L.

Yelp
Lenny the doorman was the best thing at the hotel. Management not responsive. No water provided. You have to request a tea pot for hot water. You have to request a refrigerator. If you complain then service goes downhill. No communication. Sadly this was not the best visit.

Yelp
I was prepared to give a slightly better review, until my checkout encounter with Nilton. Of any hotel I've ever stayed, he is the single most smugly obnoxious, discourteous, and rude character I've had the displeasure to meet. I pointed out, with written documentation, that I was double billed for fees in October and again after check in. Same description, same amount. Before looking at the documentation he condescendingly argued with me and continued arguing without looking at the evidence. When his manager came over, she backed him up before hearing the issue, and also without looking at irrefutable evidence. Both unprofessionally arrogant and dismissive, self assured that there is no way an error could be made without looking, then deferring their inattentive approach by telling me to check my credit card billing. Yet I was in possession of two independent and different dated invoices showing separate charges submitted and paid on different dates for the identical services and amount. Regardless of whether I'm correct, how staff conduct themselves is wholly unprofessional and immature, not suitable for hospitality service. Must be a corporate culture of poor training and worse attitude. Omni should be embarrassed. Disinterested in a prolonged debate over $68 at a 2-3 star hotel I'll never revisit, I began walking out, when Nilton further demonstrated his inadequacy and dismissed me repeatedly, childishly shooing me off premises. I think he's better suited for employment as an over-the-hill Tik Tok selfie videographer. There are plenty of luxurious, higher rated hotels in midtown Manhattan at the same pricing. I travel to NYC quite often. My next booking will be done earlier so I don't get locked out of preferred venues with better service and better trained high school dropouts. I should clarify, the minimum mandatory one star is attributed only because Michael checked me in quickly on arrival. But not enough to return to this venue. Less personal assessment, is the rooms are 20 years post-dated and marginally adequate. Ancient curtains that don't completely close. Equally untimely lighting. Climate control was noisy and playing catch-up at all times. Bed was stiff- but not in a good way, made up with a musty decorative pillow that likely had not been cleaned in years. Sheets were just ok. Foam pillows needed help too. Bathroom towels were disheveled, suggesting that they had not been changed out from prior guest. Rates and accommodations are not on even par. I should add, the tenement appearance of the staff break room mid-way down the hall, held open with a dirty towel. Quite the odd touch. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Yelp
My family and I stayed here for a short visit during the 4th in 2023 and had a great time. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The bathrobes were soft and it was helpful having both a tub for the kids and a shower for the adults. We had a nice corner view and could watch the busy streets while relaxing in the room. Our room did have a mini fridge but they were able to send us up an empty one for our extras. They even sent up a tray of cookies and milk for the kids the first night. All the hotel employees were super friendly and inviting. The lemon infused water in the lobby was always nice to return to after a long day of exploring NY. We will definitely go back and stay again.

Yelp
Fantastic Stay - I highly recommend this Hotel not only for its small, boutique charm, but it's staff. Exemplary staff, outstanding location and accommodation. Not your typical 12x12 Manhattan hotel room, more like the suburbs. Thank you to the staff and the management at this extraordinary hotel for making my daughters first trip to NYC both memorable and pleasurable.

Yelp
A terrific hotel in an outstanding location, the Omni Berkshire puts you right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just a short walk from Rockefeller Center and Fifth Avenue's fabulous kaleidoscope of shopping. Times Square and the Theater District are about a 15-minute walk away, with Central Park roughly the same distance in the other direction. Our standard room was small but comfortable, with generous closet space and an efficiently designed bathroom. The hotel amenities are also solid, from a modest fitness center and rooftop terrace, to a spacious hotel bar and restaurant (which closed a little too early for my taste). Service was outstanding throughout our recent 3-night stay, from the front desk to the doormen, making the Berkshire feel like the perfect home away from home while we were visiting the Big Apple. A wonderful hotel choice in the heart of New York City.

Yelp
Quick Saturday overnight trip to NYC, easy fast check in. Clean, ample space in room. Concierge was polite and helpful. Besides the price, which was average for the day/location I have no complaints! Will return!

Yelp
Shawn the night manager truly stood behind the brand with an exceptional service. We were not happy with the King size room space wasn't what was seen on the website and Shawn immediately accommodated even with the tightness booking. The rest of the stayed was most pleasant from the front desk, door man, the restaurant, the concierge, all were helpful with directions and friendliness. The room cleaning staff also needed to be recognized. I'm selected with the cleaning, sanitation and it was done perfectly with a personal touch. The team has proven they were proud to be apart of Omni wanting nothing but the best for the guests and their team. We have stayed at Omni in Vietnam 18 years ago and that's how I remembered to selected Omni for the NY trip. The standard of services hasn't changed and only the best! Thank you! Ann Daniels Los Angeles, CA

Yelp
Amazing stay! 10/10 would recommend. I stayed for a short solo trip and I had the best time.

J F.

Yelp
I have never had such exceptional and thoughtful service! I checked into the hotel yesterday, my room was not ready but they said they would do their best to check me in early if possible. I was starting to not feel that great, and the front desk said they would do their best to get me in as early as possible! It was only one hour -- and wasn't expecting it for 3 more hours! This morning started feeling worse, called housekeeping to see if I could get a hot pot for hot water and tea. They brought that immediately and were overly gracious. Then out of nowhere -- a knock at the door from Kamal (I think that was his name) standing there with hot chicken soup, tea, water and some bread. I had not ordered this! But he said 'we heard you were not feeling well and thought this would help you'. How overly kind and thoughtful. It is the staff kindness that makes this more than a 5 star experience! Thank you SO much for making this gal feel so much better in a hotel (and not able to be home while sick). Amazing!

Yelp
Seriously ? Never again! $500 a night for a outdated hotel that seriously needs a revamp. To add insult to injury don't ever let them place your room next to a room labeled PRIVATE!! 24/7 slamming of doors and load, chatting, flirting, screaming, moaning and noise all day and night! There are hundreds of hotels in NY to stay at dont chose this one . Small tiny rooms, horrible views and a reminder STAY AWAY FROM HAVING A ROOM NEXT TO A PRIVATE STAFF ROOM IT WILL RUIN YOUR TRIP .
google avatar

Julia G.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel for work and I wouldn't stay again or let anyone stay from corporate here. AC wasn't really working properly (but super noisy) and during the fire air inside the room was even worse then the outside. No fridge, minibar, coffee or tea available in the room and the rooms are tiny. I would not recommend this hotel for work or vacation when there are so many nicer roomier hotels for less $$ within walking distance.
google avatar

Yelp
Just stayed here for 3 nights. It's a beautiful hotel in the heart of Manhattan. Room was appointed nicely and very clean. Definitely would stay again.

Yelp
Convenient and safe location. The staff was very personable, helpful and accommodating during a busy NYE weekend. The bathrooms were slightly outdated, but properly functioning.
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
Nice team. Michael was excellent. Renovated rooms are nice. Food at restaurant is excellent and fast with good service. Only issue is beds are very cheap with very low spring count and no edge guard. Suspect they got cheated by mattress supplier. Mattresses need to be replaced and upgraded.

Liliana B.

Yelp
Always a friendly , welcoming and accommodating staff . Very convenient location, you can walk to everything.

Yelp
Typically when I travel I use a different to hotel group. However, I needed someplace close to Rockefeller Center and thought I should try someplace new while in NYC. I can't say that I'd select this hotel over my preferred group in the future. Pros: +Awesome bell service and professional check in process. In fact, I had to leave my luggage with the bellman longer than expected because dinner ran late and the older gentleman who assisted me was super kind. +Also, the men were quick and always easy to assist with opening doors, giving directions and calling getting taxi service when needed. +My room was a double but I needed a King. Without needing to ask the lady at check-in called to have the desired room. +The bed & pillows were both very comfortable. +Nice double door entry to the bathroom. Cons: -There were absolutely zero bottles of water in the room! Note: Lemon water is in the lobby. -There was no coffee/tea in the room and coffee at the front desk was $5! -There was no refrigerator so I had to dump my leftovers from dinner. -The bathroom light is linked to the humidifier in the bathroom so there is no way to leave the light on ( for middle of the night bathroom breaks). Overall, I was not overall impressed with the experience and was not in line with what I would expect from a luxury brand hotel.
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
Exceptional hotel in the best location of midtown. Nicely maintained, outstanding comfortable rooms, wonderful bar & restaurant. The best part is the fantastic service by the staff. Special kudos to Michael at the front desk, and wonderful service by doorman Lenny. Try to get a room on the 17th floor, which has a great gym, and a fabulous outside terrace balcony. I highly recommend this excellent hotel.

Samantha D.

Yelp
Terrible rooms, no coffee, and there is an insanely loud concert every Friday and Saturday night across the street. This goes far beyond typical NYC noise - do not stay here if you want more than an hour of sleep.

Mark K.

Yelp
Assistant Director Daniel Perez REALLY helped me out when my flight was cancelled (but for some reason my luggage went home...) and I had to go back to the city on a moments notice, for two nights. He helped my family, late at night, in a great moment of need when we had no clothes, no toiletries, etc. Thank you so much!!

Yelp
I am devastated to learn that the Omni Berkshire very recently closed its doors PERMANENTLY due to the financial blow the hotel took as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown for the past three months. This hotel has been around for ages and was always considered to be extremely reliable, comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. Plus, its location was smack in the middle of midtown. My husband and I loved this place, and while travel to New York City - or any place right now for that matter - seems so remote, we were comforted knowing we could "possibly" return to what we know and love. Here, at the Omni, that is to be no longer. I am truly depressed by hearing this.

Yelp
Location, location, location! My goodness, you're walking distance from 5th avenue and all the iconic New York shopping, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center. We were only there for a day so staying at the Berkshire allowed us to maximize our time and get as much out of the city as we could. It's not the modern hotel with newer amenities that I'm used to, but the hotel has a lot of character and charm. Check-in was around 3PM, but we were able to upgrade our room and move the check-in time to 12PM. The front-desk and Concierge were kind and helpful. Room: For an upgraded room, it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It was a standard double-bed but I wasn't shocked given the age of the hotel. Upon checking in, there must have been a spill or a leak because there was a machine drying the carpet next to our room. It was loud when we first checked in, but it was gone by the evening so we didn't mind much. We were also consumed with sight-seeing so we didn't get a chance to check out any other amenities. Altogether I had a very nice stay and I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a charming stay in the heart of it all in NYC!

Zach M.

Yelp
The hotel is nice for an older building and most of the staff is extremely nice; especially Lenny the doorman who I saw pull four shifts in two days with nothing but a overtly positive attitude. However two things of note really kind of changed my rating from 4 stars to three. One, the restaurant down stairs seems to be not managed very well. My family ate there twice for breakfast, and were uncomfortably placed on high tops in the bar both times while the main dining room is closed off. Second, the coffee station with to go cups was heavily guarded by the waitstaff who rudely asked every patron who tried to pour a cup for either their room number or a coupon card. For a 4 star accommodation, that is absolutely no way to treat your guests. I've stayed in many Omni hotels before and this is the first time I saw something so ridiculous. Third, there was a lack of a kids menu for breakfast. While I understand Midtown is not necessarily a family destination, NYC in general is. I'm shocked that the establishment of a standing kid's breakfast menu is not a corporate mandate. Again, this is a first for me at Omni hotels. All in all, the location is convenient and the door staff is excellent. However, my experience at Berk's Bar left a bit of a sour note during our stay.

Jackie M.

Yelp
Great location! Close to everything including a subway right around the corner. Not as touristy or loud as Times Square, which was perfect for our trip. Lenny, one of the doormen, was the best! He was very welcoming (as were all the staff) and Lenny even did a fun, impromptu sidewalk dance with the two teen girls who were traveling with me. They loved it! Would stay here again!
google avatar

Kristy D.

Yelp
This hotel has been very accommodating so far to myself and my business team. They have upgraded our room, and given us discounts based on certain things that have taken place. Nothing bad to report, but I will mention since this is New York you do have to request the refrigerator if you want one in the room.
google avatar

Gatangalie S.

Yelp
My job made arrangement for me to stay here for three nights. The location is convenient to one of NYC's major train station - Grand Central (GC). You can connect at GC to all trains within or outside of NYC. There are lots of bars, restaurants, sightseeing, and shopping centers to take advantage of. Not to mention Park Avenue is where you will find some of the most prestigious financial headquarters such as JPMorgan, Colgate, UBS, and many more firms. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and well diverse with the area. You can get a lot of information from them as well as utilize them as your tour guides. My room was just perfect with the most comfortable bed and softest pillows. I loved the bathroom, it was the right size and the lightening was excellent to do my make up. Overall, the room's condition was great and the smell was sweet! I was kind of annoyed that the restaurant was closed for the month of July 2016 due to renovation, but still take advantage of room services as needed. Nevertheless, it gave us the opportunity to venture out to some of the local bars and pubs considering we were exhausted from working. The highlight of my stay was getting back from work on a Sunday evening to find a plate filled with crackers, cheese, and some fresh fruits! Now that made me smile. It was definitely a pleasant stay!

Yelp
The Omni is in a great location if you're going to be going to a show and want to be around the Times Square area. The hotel is under scaffolding right now but it's still easy to identify. The bell men were very nice and opened the door every time we wanted to enter. The employee at the front desk was very courteous and seemed interested in what we were doing during our stay. We arrived early around 11am and it was really awesome that they had a room ready for us. First impressions were really nice. We stayed in a Premier room, room 618. It's close to the elevators and the cleaning service's room. I couldn't hear the elevators but I could hear the cleaning staff going in and out of their room. As I was unpacking my bag, I noticed something shiny on the floor. I had found three pieces of broken glass laying on the carpet. We were leaving our room for the day so I asked the concierge desk to have someone vacuum our room while we were out. When we returned there were watermelon granita cocktails in the lobby for the guests. They were delicious and unexpected! We went up to the balcony off of the fitness center floor with our cocktails to enjoy being outside. Checkout was a breeze and we received parking validation for a cheaper rate at their recommended lot. I have to take into much consideration the broken glass which is the reasoning behind the three stars. That should just not happen in any hotel.

Lori I.

Yelp
This hotel was conveniently located near 5th Avenue, Rockefeller, NBC and the Today show, Radio City Music Hall, the subway station, and HALAL GUYS. The room itself was quite small for the four of us, we only had 2 double beds and there isn't room for a rollaway so we brought our own blow up air mattress. For almost $600/night I would have expected at least queen beds and a refrigerator. NO REFRIGERATOR in our room. They delivered cookies and chocolate milk at night when we checked in for the kids, and I wanted to put the milk in the refrig for the kids to consume in the morning because I do not want my kids eating chocolate cookies and milk before they go to bed!! We ended up dumping all the milk because we couldn't keep it cold. TWO CLOSETS to hang your coats and jackets. We barely had room to open up our 4 suitcases and we were crawling all over each other. The rooms are probably normal for NYC, but very small. BATHROOM was small. The toilet would not flush unless you held down the flusher. The toilet was leaking water all over the floor the whole entire time we were there, but I never said anything because I kept thinking it was my kids making a mess, but every day when we came back sure enough there was water on the floor. We were gone all day, every day, and I don't like maintenance crews coming in while I'm not in the room. BREAKFAST at Bob's Steak and Chop House ran $150 for the 2 adults/2kids. We only made that mistake one time. So basically there's no place to eat breakfast and there's no refrigerator in the room so we had to eat granola bars in the subway en route to wherever we were going. Overall I liked the location of the hotel and the water that they put next to the elevators. My only complaint is they don't put it out early enough/leave it out long enough. After walking 9 miles a day trying to catch subways etc, I looked forward to that cup of water before heading to my room. Would I pay $500-600 to stay here again? No. But if it's during an off-peak season and it's $200/night, maybe.

Carina C.

Yelp
Horrible accommodations, horrible service and incredibly expensive! We paid $605 a night - for a room that was across from the elevator and in the 7th floor. I booked months in advance and asked for a high floor away from elevators and ice machine. Our towels literally had holes in them and our shower curtain was moldy?! In addition they tell you that Wi-Fi is free and then charge you an extra $30 a night for a 'destination fee' that they don't disclose and it just shows up on your bill. When I called to ask what it was they said it was for Wi-Fi and the concierge that we never used?! Horrible hotel!

Darrin B.

Yelp
Very attentive service. Lovely staff. Venus was our housekeeper and she was so kind and helpful. She anticipated our needs when our son was sick. And she continued to be empathetic and kind throughout our stay! I wish her the best!

Yelp
The location is great and the staff was extremely friendly, but other than that, this was a pretty horrible experience. We stayed here for New Year's Eve, and that was the first and last time. (Also, what hotel on earth sends housekeeping around at 8am the night after NYE to knock on everyone's door three times, screaming about housekeeping?!?!). One of the most ridiculous things that is honestly almost unbelievable is that you have to pay for wi-fi. Yes, they advertise free wifi--that's for 7mbps, which gets you basically nothing (the hotel is lucky we can't swear in these reviews); our connection speed kept on hovering between 3 and 5 and couldn't get any higher. You can get a faster speed (meaning 21, which is still not fast), by paying. PAYING!! So not only do you have to pay almost $700/night to stay there, flickering lights and all, but on top of that you have to pay to get a somewhat decent internet connection? Guest services was very receptive to my complaint and said that we could upgrade the wifi connection at their cost, and I was very pleased by this. Even though an hour later--which included more than 30 minutes on the phone with international tech support--we still couldn't figure out how to do that upgrade and so we still had super slow internet. Great people at the front desk, bellhop, and guest services, but the rest was horrible.

Yelp
After researching a number of hotels with the American Girl Package, we decided on the Omni for my twins' 7th birthday. I booked three rooms for 11 overnight guests (requested two adjoining and one king) all with the AG package (included Omni Kids Welcome Bag, AG Doll bed, milk & cookies at turndown, and breakfast vouchers). Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly valet and staff. The hotel was immaculate and our party was quickly checked in with no hiccups. Although the hotel requested the names of all the girl guests and dolls for a surprise, we did not receive any personalized items or guest services. There was more than enough room for all our guests and a couple visitors. The adjoining room has a hallway which the girls loved! The American Girl store was only a short walk from the hotel (5th Ave. )! I strongly recommend booking the personal shopper in advance. It's an excellent opportunity to see the entire store and relax later in their private AG toy room. We scheduled dinner at the AG store and then returned to the hotel where the children were surprised with milk and cookies. The moms were also surprised by a platter of gourmet cookie and chilled sparkling cider. The next morning we dined at Bob's Steakhouse which is located within the hotel for a delicious breakfast! I am extremely grateful to the entire staff for making my girls' bday one they'll always remember!

Yelp
Wow! Where do I start with how horrific this experience was?! I have never in my life felt so disrespected and treated so poorly as a guest. Let's just do a walkthrough of my first night in this hotel: I arrive on a late night flight and go check in to my reserved room with my girlfriend. Fast forward to the early hours of dawn/morning and there is a loud knocking, no, a BATTERING of our door from the outside with someone YELLING "SECURITY OPEN THE DOOR NOW!" I am barely able to put on some clothes and rush out of bed to open the door (all this time as the battering of the door continues), only to be met by multiple members of the hotel security. They introduce themselves simply by demanding to know why I'm there and what my name is. They were so rude and impatient it literally took me minutes to figure out what they wanted - which was to accuse me of literally stealing the hotel room and illegally occupying the premises. I tell them I have a reservation and they force me to get my documents and ID (all while keeping the door open and observing me as if I was going to suddenly jump down the fire escape like in the movies ). I finally go downstairs while being escorted by the various members of hotel security to finally meet a member of the hotel guest services who explains to me that I'm not a guest. As I start showing her my ID, credit card, and reservation documents she keeps inquiring about all these facts as though I was literally trying to con her! Instead of just verifying before asking questions she starts interrogating me about what the lobby looked like when I got there earlier and who all was in the lobby as well as how I got to the hotel, as if to try to find inconsistencies in my story. By the way, I work in forensics myself so I understand the difference between a simple inquiry and an interrogation with presumption, and this was definitely the latter. Of course, not more than 5 minutes after she runs my information she is able to confirm my reservation and note that I am in fact a guest and not a trespassing criminal. She gives a non-apology statement about how the person that checked us in didn't do so correctly and hands me back my keys without offering any apology for the stressful last hour in the middle of dawn and all the accusatory statements being thrown at me. I end up going back to the room, get a stressed out couple of hours of sleep, while having to explain to my girlfriend that the hotel literally thought we were stealing the room. I just do not understand how ANYONE in the chain of management at this hotel thought this would be an appropriate way to handle a simple booking discrepancy. If you see an issue in your bookings, then take at least 10 minutes to double check the reservation contact and billing information (maybe check your security cams to see that I actually came in and checked in earlier!). If you want to ask me questions, phone the hotel room and ask me. Don't just presume someone is somehow stealing your room and trespassing. I have literally never felt so disrespected, belittled, and treated so rudely as I was during this time. I even brought it up to management multiple times during the next days (including emailing management to discuss double charges that occurred due to their mis-booking) and while they were finally showing professionalism when discussing this with me, their apologies were totally empty, going so far as to only offer free breakfast as compensation for accusing me and my girlfriend of trespassing with no grounds to back it up. I ultimately just decided to stop pressuring management after those two days because I was at least trying to enjoy some of my vacation in New York without having to be stressed out the entire time. Needless to say this put a massive damper on my entire time there and has left me with nothing good to say about Omni, which I previously considered to be a good hotel experience. This hotel might be in a good location midtown but just remember there are another dozen hotels that are just as good in the area since you're in New York City. Next trip I'll be staying at one that has hopefully better guest practices and respect towards people in general.

Yelp
This hotel is beyond exceptional! I have never stayed at a hotel that was more customer service friendly than this one! Let me start from the beginning and tell you why they deserve all 5 stars! When we arrived, we asked if there was an opportunity for an early check in. This was at 11am. We were placed on a list and would be called once a room was ready. Well that was at 12:30. They held our bags for us while we explored the city. We went out to eat by the time we came back our room was ready. Initially the rooms didn't come standard with a fridge and microwave. But guess what! No worries. You can request a fridge and microwave for no charge! (If they are available!) They bring them right up to you! This hotel is close to everything but away from the madness of Times Square. A 10 min walk will get you to Times Square. The concierge was super helpful in knowing where everything is. Oh and the bellman! Best bellman ever! Knowledgeable and friendly! This hotel also has an excellent restaurant. See my next review for Bobs Steakhouse and Chophouse. It'll tell you about our experience! Soooo we forgot silverware returning from Bobs. We were able to call room service and they brought us up silverware. Very promptly might I add. If you need a shuttle, there is a cost. Something like $23 per person, and they will arrange it for you. Everyone there may our stay great. I would definitely revisit if I'm ever in the area again. The rooms were very spacious for it to NY. I definitely loved their rooms. If I had ANYTHING bad to say about the hotel. No vending machines. Lol.

Yelp
Nice size room with a nice location. Hotel is beginning to look tired and shabby. Beware no refrigerator, no in room coffee or tea unit, certainly no microwave. Strangest no dresser with draws. Where to put socks, underwear etc.? Even small things like no pen or writing paper. Closet broken and desk chair torn. Needs work

Yelp
I stayed here in May. Great location. Room was really large, especially by NYC standards. Friendly staff. One of the things I like the most is that this hotel has a more low-key, classic feel. It's not overly trendy and 'sceney' in the lobby and bar. Great choice for both business travelers and tourists.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with an amazing location! You are surrounded by bars, restaurants, fantastic shopping, and attractions like St Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. The staff of the hotel is so nice and accommodating. The rooms are spacious, especially for New York, and well-appointed. Trust me when I say you will not want to get out of this bed! Make sure you check out the 17th Floor Terrace! I hope to be back soon!

Yelp
I had very high expectations for this place. The Omni in San Francisco is absolutely stunning and the customer service is fantastic there. Everything about this particular Omni location was mediocre. I was incredibly disappointed. As soon as we got to the front desk, we were ignored for a while even though there was no one else waiting to check in. The two gals at the front didn't make eye contact and instead continued to type away and stare at their screens. No one acknowledged us until I moved right up to the desk and stared at one of them. Even then it was a hi how can I help you while her eyes were glued to the screen. RUDE. When we got to our room I thought it was pretty nice, but then I noticed that whoever cleaned it totally half assed it. There was crap left in our closet! Trash that would've been seen right away if you had just opened the damn thing. Pretty gross. And then concierge... well, they were always on the phone chatting or hiding in the back room. Kind of weird. I did want to ask for recommendations for dinner our first night there, since we got in a little late and just wanted to walk to somewhere close by, but he was chatting it up on the phone with someone for a good while. It did sound like a personal call, but who knows. And then every time after that when we passed the concierge desk either no one was there or the person was behind the door on the phone... The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because, I didn't actually try their restaurant but I've heard good things. Also, their St. Patrick's terrace has a beautiful view of the cathedral and we did enjoy just hanging out up there for a bit (too cold in February to really stay out there too long). And also, because their bell man actually spoke to us on our last day and helped us figure out if Uber vs taxi was better to get to the airport, and he flagged the taxi down for us. Otherwise we were mostly ignored by most staff. Doubt we'd come back and stay here again unfortunately.

Yelp
This place is the epitome of that indifferent attitude of the New Yorkers that I don't like. That "shrugging off " kind of response as though they are trying to tell you "I couldn't care less".... the nonchalant atmosphere about customers that I am not accustomed to..... I understand that New York is quite different, but when it comes to customer service, if anything, New york should stand out rather than falling short.....for me, it just fell short. I have been to many Omni hotels across the nation and have immensely enjoyed some, but this one is no such example, rather a quintessential example of what tourist-y locations are like....the ones you avoid, I mean. Anyhow, our trip to New York is coming to an end and with it, our enthusiasm to go back home to Seattle where we feel respected and belonged is on the rise.

Yelp
I belong to several loyalty programs, but the perks you get at the Omni blow all other select guest perks out of the water. This entire year I was at platinum level and was impressed with the free room stays, plus getting emails from their loyalty ambassador at each property ensure you have someone to count on in case you had questions or needed a late check out (HUGE bonus). I just recently achieved black status, which is even more awesome because when you book a free stay, you get an upgrade if available. And that's what happened at this Omni! The lovely loyalty ambassador, Dana, was so kind to upgrade me to a gorgeous suite, upon hearing that my loyalty level had recently changed. I wasn't expecting that and was really grateful just to get a free room in this stunning property located in the heart of Midtown (a block away from Cartier, Ferragamo #droolworthywindows and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Stroll another block to Sak's, whose windows were all decked out for the holidays). As a native New Yorker, I rarely stay in hotels when I visit home because I have family to stay with. This was a special treat and I felt like I was living the NYC tourist dream. What more could a girl want??? A corner suite with huge windows overlooking the busy streets of Manhattan, walking distance to so many desirable places... yes yes yes! All the yeses. Special shout-out to the man at the front desk who was just the nicest and most helpful. I need to be better about getting people's names. The only slight issue I had was the lack of bottled water in the room, which is not typical. I called down to room service and explained that I was used to getting at least two bottles per day and the guy was kind of dismissive and annoyed that I was asking. I noted this on the survey that I took after the stay and was immediately contacted by the person in charge of Guest Services who apologized and said this would be addressed. Customer service at the Omni is superb. Although I tend to make it my preferred hotel for business travel, I've now been booking rooms for pleasure as well. Why bother staying anywhere else for a similar price? A note on price, you can't beat the value for location and room size. I saw the rate for typical (non special event) nights and it's on par with rooms I stay in when traveling to Dallas, San Antonio and Toronto (as well as when I do my NOLA staycations). It's a lot less than the Omni in Nashville. Think I'll be staying here again when I return to the city for a fun little getaway.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here last Saturday as this was the hotel of choice for his cousins wedding. The Omni is located only a few blocks away from Radio City making the location perfect for those spending the weekend in the city that plan on seeing a play, visiting Rockefeller as well as other touristy things. The lobby of the hotel was really spacious, modern and well kept. When arriving they has a Santa in the lobby and guests had the option of having their kids take a picture on Santa's lap. I thought that was a really nice special touch. The rest of the lobby was decorated very tastefully and looked beautiful. The Omni has valet parking which is worth it considering the parking garages are quite expensive in the city. You need to allow about 30-40 minutes when calling for your car as it takes a bit of time esp during checkout time. The valet attendant and bell hop were all extremely friendly and accommodating. A standard room isn't very big so if you are looking for a little extra space definitely upgrade. We were not spending much time in the room so space wasn't an issue. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable so it was perfect for what we needed. I would def recommend this hotel and stay here again if an opportunity arises.

Yelp
I love New York. I love the Omni Berkshire. There is no better location in NYC than this property plus you get all of the Omni Select Guest perks. Speaking of their select guest program, are you a member? If not, please consider signing up online immediately. Trust me, it is free and completely worth it. The free perks include complimentary morning in room delivery of coffee, hot tea or juice, morning paper and free wi-if in the room. This hotel encompasses old world glamour and has a warm, inviting ambience. My room rate for a discounted, special marathon rate of $359 a night for a spacious double queen room with a giant bathroom that included a very large bathtub. Perfect for post marathon bubble baths. That rate also included two daily full breakfasts. This location also has a large and inviting fitness center with complementary fruit, water and towels. The concierge also arranged a car pickup from the airport in Newark. Overall, as usual I was treated like a Queen and will only stay at this luxurious property when I return to New York. Thank you to all involved in in making our marathon visit an exceptional experience.

Yelp
Oh yes, the Omni Berkshire is always the nicely appointed accommodation of choice when I am traveling on business in New York. Not that I really have a choice since it just seems to land on a lot of companies' short list of places to stay when you accompany your boss. It's happened to me about three times with three different bosses at three different companies. I think I just realized that the Omni may be my one thread of consistency throughout my checkered corporate career. After all, jobs will come and jobs will go, but the Omni will always be there waiting for my next career move. Whoa, let me think about that one. Mind if I have a seat while I contemplate the sudden revelation that my career consists of a series of bookings at the Omni? In fact, mind if I just book a deluxe room with a King bed because that's what I usually get at my level (see photo). And always with those canisters of Pringles and bags of M&M's in the wet bar that I don't want to show up on my expense report as I don't want people thinking I spend all evening eating Pringles and M&M's. But what else am I supposed to do if I have a free Pay-Per-View movie on? Munch on my down pillow? I digress. The hotel is old-style sleek, quite comfortable but not off-putting. It's the perfect Midtown East location for its proximity for all the various company offices I've had to visit. Yet for all its amenities, I have to admit I don't think I'd come here unless I had an expense account. A deluxe room runs over $300 per night during the off season.
