Holiday Pop-Up Bars and Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Running until December 30 at the hotel is Blitzen’s Bar, featuring cocktails crafted by author and bar owner Julie Reiner, co-founder of Clover Club, Milady’s, and Leyanda in New York City and a judge on the Netflix series Drink Masters. With tinsel, neon signs, and kitschy leg lamps setting the scene, the bar is mixing up a cocktail list that includes the “Frost Bite,” a holiday-themed take on a pina colada, and “Tidings of Whiskey & Joy,” a riff on the New York Sour, and offering bites like “Reindeer Nuggets,” aka marinated castelvetrano olives and popcorn garlands seasoned with with winter truffles and parmesan." - Candice Woo

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

"How did it strike you on arrival? What used to be a celebrity retreat in the ‘60s has morphed into an expansive Mission-style resort spread out across 400 hilly acres in Carlsbad, an upscale coastal city with a surfer vibe 30 miles north of the airport. The landscaping is immaculate, with palm trees, bougainvillea, and fountains. With 17 clay and hard tennis courts, a championship golf course, restaurants, and its own shopping complex, Omni La Costa feels more like a little city than a resort. What’s the crowd like? There's an activity for every type of vacationer, obviously golf and tennis, but also treatments and seminars at the Oprah-approved wellness center. You'll see families, couples, business types, and solo travelers. On to the big stuff: Tell us about the rooms. There are 607 rooms and suites, ranging from 425 to 650 square feet, and each of them overlooks the gardens and/or the golf course. Groups (with some cash to burn) should book the larger Family Suites or the whopping 3,000-square-foot Presidential Suite. Rooms are decked in blues, greens, and pale yellows with dark wood furniture. How about the bathroom? What will we find?Suites have a deep soaking tub, separate shower, and dual vanities. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?A $35 resort fee covers Wi-Fi, gym access, local calls, in-room coffee and tea, and a daily newspaper (upon request). Room service: Worth it?Room service isn't anything to write home about, but there are several hotel restaurants, including a casual cafe, a sports bar, a scenic patio overlooking the golf greens, and a steakhouse known for its jumbo carrot that's poached and braised in a brown sugar orange glaze. Any other cool features we didn't ask about yet?You can take meditation and yoga classes, book Ayurvedic massages, and consult with an integrative doctor at the on-site Chopra Center, founded by holistic physician Deepak Chopra. Then, you can keep that wellness going at the Athletic Club. It isn't your average hotel gym, with classes in yoga, Pilates, spinning, TRX, Zumba, and more (some require an additional fee of $10-$15). There are several pools, including an adults-only option, one for families, one with waterslides, and two reserved for more Zen experiences. A Spanish-style shopping plaza on the grounds includes a golf and tennis pro shop, a Lilly Pulitzer store, an activewear shop, and Audrey's Boutique, stocked with Kendra Scott Jewelry and Ella Moss apparel. At Kidtopia Kids Club, little ones can play, do arts and crafts, and watch movies. They also have a nursery for kids six months to three years old. What was most memorable about your stay? The grounds are stunning, Spanish Colonial in SoCal. No matter where you walk, you'll be reminded that you're on vacation. Bottom line: What are we coming here for? This place is all about the activities, and you can go as serene or as sweaty as you choose." - Archana Ram

I just went to Bar Traza and we had a good fortune of being served Ramiro. This man is truly all in in every sense of the word. He has a tattoo of the company mission statement, and explain to me what it means to him. The food was amazing. The service was even better. We’re here all week and will definitely come back to see him. I love supporting companies that I believe in their mission and I will be an Omni customer for lifeI tried to find a manager to give 1 million compliments too and I couldn’t so I’m leaving this review and I’ll come back and talk to them later. I’ve been so impressed with this resort as a whole, but Ramiro was really icing on the cake. We got margaritas and the queso both were amazing and we’re coming back later for dessert.

Google
Hotel was quiet and suitable for a short business visit. The room had a desk and decent lighting, which made working easier. The mattress was firm, and the room stayed warm during the night. The bathroom was small, but the water pressure was great. There were no extra services, but I didn’t need any. Breakfast was served early, which suited my schedule. Staff were formal and helpful when asked. Neutral overall, but solid.

Google
This is my favorite place to play tennis. The coaches are great — my first lesson was with Elaja, and he was amazing. And of course, my favorite is Valentin, he always makes me excited to come back and he is great with people. Special thanks to Norman too! The area is lovely for a walk, very clean and well maintained. The restaurant is also nice, with a great vibe, especially in the evening. I really enjoy it here. One small suggestion: I wish they offered court bookings with the ball machine , even just 30-minute slots in the evening. I’d definitely be there at least twice a week. I’d be happy to pay a little extra for it. Right now, it’s only available to full members, and sometimes it just sits unused

Google
Golf, spa, shops, and restaurants AND it is pet friendly!! What more can you ask for? The grounds are massive and gorgeous! Colorful flowers everywhere you walk. You can call staff to pick you up if you need a ride to the amenities. Very clean resort. We stayed in a larger executive villa which had a kitchen stocked with all essentials and even had a dishwasher and icemaker! It also had a washer and dryer in the unit, full bedroom, and huge bathroom. The outdoor patio was larger than expected and gate led us right into one of the smaller pools. Super quiet and relaxing time! We'll definitely be back here next time we visit Carlsbad.

Google
We had high hopes for our stay at Omni La Costa Resort, but it was disappointing from start to finish. The villa pool had no towels, and trash bins were overflowing. At check-in, we were told our reservation had been canceled, which caused unnecessary stress. We had mentioned it was our daughter’s birthday ahead of time and were told something special would be waiting in the room—nothing ever showed up. Our villa, which was supposed to have a fully equipped kitchen for six guests, had no dish soap, no dishwasher pods, no body soap, and no dishes at all. It felt like the space wasn’t prepared for guests at all. To try to make up for it, we were comped a cabana for two hours, only for the main pool to be shut down due to someone pooping in it shortly after we arrived. On our final day, we waited 15 minutes just to be seated for breakfast, and once we finally sat down, we found the pancake station wasn’t even operating. Then, to top it all off, our waitress accidentally spilled an entire glass of orange juice all over the table and our food—and there was no follow-up or real apology. Did I mention they still charged us full price? Didn’t offer to get my son a towel or anything of the sort. When I ran up to the front desk to tell the on duty manager Danny, he just put his head down and shook his head. Didn’t offer any help. Didn’t care to help a panicked mom with a kid that just had a full juice spilled on him by a. Server For a resort with this kind of reputation and pricing, the lack of attention to detail and guest experience was extremely disappointing. Definitely not what we expected or paid for, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and service at Bar Traza. Our server, Ramiro, was friendly, attentive, and gave some great recommendations. The view from the Omni is also hard to beat. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

Google
What a great experience at Omni La Costa, I always feel that Omni brand has some of the best service in the industry and La Costa did not disappoint. What makes this property so great is that is kid and family friendly but also high end and well executed. The difference between good and great lies in the service and the service at every touch point was excellent. Fantastic pool for families and other pools for the grown ups. Will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed the Bar Traza where Ramiro was our sever. The seating on the patio was terrific but Ramiro truly added to the experience. Thank you for your wonderful service...prompt and pleasant. The food was good, and Ramiro made the experience most enjoyable.

Yelp
I went for a Gentleman's Haircut at the La Costa Spa's Salon! My stylist was Heather, she's so talented! One of my best haircuts in years. Very kind and helpful front desk staff.

Yelp
Omni review OK, first of all, this place is a lot bigger and more spread out than what you see online. If you want to host an event here and stay here at the same time...don't....because you have to drag everything back-and-forth between your room and the ballroom which is far away. Also, we had an issue with shipping stuff from the hotel. Me and my coworker and my boss were getting multiple different stories. When we first checked, I said, can we ship everything from the front desk and they said yes. They said if we didn't have a FedEx label that they would create one for us. They told my coworker the opposite. Next day I check again and they said yes we could drop the boxes off, but there's not gonna be a confirmation number without us creating our own labels And they can't do it for us. Usually at TradeShows/conventions there is a shipping place right on property so this is another reason to not have an event here. They also told us we could leave our boxes and just have faith that they would mail them without a confirmation number... who says that? Rooms: in the bathroom there's no sink room. And also I ran out of toilet paper. Why is there no spare toilet paper in the room and it took them forever to bring me toilet paper. Kleenex was also hard to find and in the corner. When asked to use a golf cart to bring boxes from the ballroom to the front desk, one of the guys behind the desk Ben looked like he had an attitude. This was my first time as a member and first time ever staying at an Omni. I was disappointed. I am forever a Marriott fan. This would never happen at a Marriott. They also would not let me check out later like till 1:30 PM only until like noon, which caused more issues for me trying to get all of the boxes together and make sure I was all packed and throw my stuff in the car before the event. Marriott would've let me. If there is another event there that I work in the future, I will just stay at a Marriott.

Yelp
Well you really can rate a Hotel on their policies in the beginning... We prepaid our weekend,....over a month and a half in advance. We needed to cancel/rebook 3 1/2 weeks in advance...but that was not allowed. I had an golf injury, a pinched nerve and my husband tried to rebook this surprise weekend. They said NO. Not only they told us no refund, they told us we would not get the total 2 night prepaid stay of $1900 plus a prepaid show we had booked at the hotel. So they were so rude also...the OMNI booking line and the direct hotel people. I asked nicely who I was talking to, she said "Stacy", I asked her last name, she said it was company policy not to give it out. I asked, "Ok you must have an agents ID number", she said no. Same with the hotel reservations person. I've never been so sad....not only it would have been on my birthday, father's day...yes due to my injury I could not golf, but we would have gone to the spa, and the restaurants, and we are big tippers, but no. This is my tip....do not book this hotel. Just saying..

Yelp
Absolutely stunning resort. I attended a conference here and it felt like a vacation more than a work trip. Rooms are beautiful. Staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are somewhat of a trek but the scenery is pretty.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds, excellent pool with slides for the kids. The rooms were clean, updated, and most of all- quiet! Service was friendly and excellent all around. We'd come back here for sure!

Yelp
After holding onto a Christmas gift card for almost 2 years I finally had decided to use it at the spa with a friend for Mother's Day this year. It was great. I don't recommend going on Mother's Day, so we went a couple days after and we got the Mother's Day special . Never having been here before I enjoyed my time and I definitely want to come back hit sauna, steam room! It was great and the food was yummy too. if you're going to the spa, you get valet, didn't know that until after we left.

Yelp
Beautiful resort. Very lush, open, and comfortable. Love the style, atmosphere, ambiance, decor, and landscape. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Beds are nice. Service is great. Nice staff. Food is absolutely delicious. Fun and relaxing environment. Knocked off a star because I only got 1 complementary drink ticket for a three night stay. Others got 2-5 complementary drinks tickets for a 1-2 night stay. Inconsistent. Also, I did not get any complementary bottle waters upon check in. Most others in our group did. Not a big deal but it's inconsistent.

Yelp
Our stay was amazing at the Omni! Our issues came primarily with the front desk and then the after billing issues with the Omni. When we arrived at 3:30, we were told our room would be ready by 4 which is the check in time and they said I would receive a call. I never received a call or notification so I had to go back and wait at the front desk. When I was there, it took very long to get our room and we weren't able to get inside until after 5:30. To their credit, they offered me a $75 credit for food and beverage at the hotel. Our room was stunning! We loved the balcony and it was newly renovated so the bathroom was stunning. Then, when we returned home, I was charged again for the room even though I paid through Expedia. They told me they had a hard time getting Expedia to pay so they took it from me, but then eventually were paid by Expedia and never refunded me until I called. Then when I did call, they only partially refunded me and I had to call AGAIN to get the rest. They claimed it was because they didn't see the credit, so I was passed from agent to agent until someone finally confirmed that we WERE given the credit and we finally received the rest of the refund. The hotel was beautiful but the pain of the check in and refund process was so annoying

Yelp
I would give this place 2 stars but for how much they charge on the nightly rate, the experience was totally not worth it. To start, the resort is extremely spread out and there are a gazilion building and everything is far away from everything else. You can't walk from one place to another place very quickly or easily. They do have golf carts that can shuttle you around but you would have to call and then wait 10-15min for one to show up. The rooms are extremely dated and in serious need of an upgrade. Everything looks like it was from 20-30 years ago. The bed was super uncomfortable, the mattress is so old and worn out that it sinks in the middle like those 70s waterbed. Horrible sleep. Rooms are super dark and things creak. Definitely a terrible experience especially for over $300/night, total rip off.

Yelp
I stayed at the Omni La Costa Resort due to a conference that was being held. There were many good things about my stay and the conference I attended, which I will describe. I will also explain why I only gave it two stars despite the good things overall about this resort. Firstly, in regards to what I loved: 1) Restaurants and bars on site: Restaurants and bars like Splash Bar, Vue, Bobs Steakhouse, and Bar Traza are great places to eat and drink. Overall I had mostly great experiences, and I recommend you check out my reviews on them. 2) The have a great spa on site. I did not use it myself, but my boss wife did and she loved it. 3) the hotel ground are beautiful 4) Splash Bar has some great pools 5) The food at the conference was delicious and the rooms where they conference was held were comfortable. 6) they had cool little events at the hotel including a craft fair/market first day I was there. Also welcomed people staying with a free gift by spinning a wheel, which i got $10 off eating at Vue. Now one of the reasons I gave the hotel two stars has to do with a little run in with a manager at the Splash Bar who insisted on enforcing a rule about not using one of the covered seating areas without renting when a rain storm hit. My group only wanted to use it till the rain abated, but no... guess he did not care about his patrons getting wet. The other was the room i got. The room was not worth the $300 i paid for. Especially when I saw the room my boss was given. He has vaulted ceilings, a living room, a bathroom twice the size of mine. We were attending the same conference and paying the same amount. When I went to complain to the front desk, I was told their policy for conferences is to give rooms on availability regardless of the room. There was nothing they could do about it. They could not change it. So i got short changed due to chance? Yeah i was not happy about the above. I feel like I was robbed from really enjoying my stay due to that. Another issue is the hotel ground are huge, beautiful but huge. It is a journey to get to and from anywhere in the hotel, that includes the conference center to you room. It rained several times during the stay, and I can tell you getting a golf cart to come pick you up is not easy and takes forever. I just braved the rain most of the time because I was not willing to wait. The hotel has a lot of plusses, but management and service is where the changes need to be made.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying here. We came here for a soccer tournament, but made a vacation out of it. As soon as we got here, we were greeted with valet parking ($50 a night). We get to ride around in golf carts, so we don't have to drag our luggage around. We get to the room and it looks just like the pictures. The pool was fun. The kids enjoyed the slide. The bar was open when we got there, but was about to close, and the bartender lady made it very well known by the way we were greeted. The bar inside next to the restaurant had really friendly staff, but be prepared to pay around $25 a drink. (I hope they are nice) the property is well maintained. I would be definitely be back when in the area.

Yelp
The service at Omni La Costa was unparalleled. Not only was the venue, incredibly beautiful, but the ambience really made you feel like you're stepping away from reality and into paradise. The food was really good even with room service. Generally the way is around 45 minutes but the staff is incredibly helpful and make sure that you have everything that you need. I recommend staying in one of the villas, which are a bit more spacious a normal rooms, but you really can't go wrong. They also have an extensive number pools so if you're here with family, then it makes for a fun summer outing. It's definitely a location for conferences, coughing, getting away. A pro tip is that if you wanted to her or to get around quicker, you can call for a golf cart service and I'll pick you up from your room. If you get a chance, be sure to check out some of the restaurants us to have a number of great selections, ranging from steak, houses, casual, dining, and Italian food Price: $$$ Overall: 9.5/10

Yelp
Visited family a few times who were staying at the resort. The propert is sprawling (omg that word just sounded weird to me for a minute, lol) and well manicured. You can definitely have an awesome experience vacationing or staycationing without even leaving the property. SOo many amenities... just at first glance, there were a few shops, restaurants, tennis courts, swimming pools, a spa (of course), event spaces, gardens, fountains, and relaxing sitting areas. My family needed a room that is easily accessible, and was giving one with handicapped parking spaced just a few yards away. Iiterally, like 20 feet if you enter through the patio sliding door. Their double queen bed room was comfortable and clean. Definitely a location worth staying in that's close enough to everything, but also far enough for some peace and relaxation.

Yelp
A very nice resort, of course. But, it is pretty overpriced. The pools were nice but the food and drinks are so expensive. $25 for a salad that's mostly iceberg lettuce?! I brought my own bottle of wine and snacks to keep in the mini fridge. Beds were comfy, though rooms could be a bit outdated. We got the family suite and I expected a better family room. Bathrooms were good. On site bar was great for dinner. I also wish the fun activities they offered were free- like I'm paying so much to stay there, and then you're going to advertise "special lemonade today!" And change $5 for a cup of lemonade?! We might come back but would bring more of our own food and be prepared to break the bank! Oh, and valet service in the golf carts was exceptional!

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Omni Resort in Carlsbad and it was a fantastic experience. The place looks amazing with its beautiful gardens and comfy feel. The food was a big highlight. The nachos, hotdogs, wings, fries, and burgers were all delicious. Each dish was full of flavor and made just right. The slushy I had was super refreshing - perfect for a sunny day. The pool area was another great part of my stay. It's a nice spot to swim or just chill out. The parking is a bit of a walk, but it's not a big deal because the resort is so nice. There are also some cool shops at the resort. The ice cream is a must-try - it's really tasty and a great way to end the day. Every meal I had at the resort was enjoyable. The place has a relaxed vibe, which made eating there even better. In short, the Omni Resort in Carlsbad is a great place to relax and enjoy some good food. I had a great time and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Best resort hands down in San Diego. I've been to multiple resorts and by far this place feels like your in another world. It's so beautiful and quiet. Sales team is on another level. Bobs steak house is insanely good.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, a girls fun getaway. In advance, we booked massages, and a room. First hiccup: We received a call the morning of as we were heading up there, saying that one of the masseuses was sick. This was very disappointing. At the least, they were able to offer a facial in its place. The massages and facial were amazing. Next couple of hiccups: Once we checked in, our room phone didn't work, and the ice machine in the building was also out of order. Frustrated and disappointed again, we spoke to Marina at the front desk. She was very accommodating. She gave us a credit to use towards room service. Overall we had a great experience, but definitely had some issues along the way. I felt that we had to spend a good part of time on the phone and on hold trying to reach staff multiple times regarding issues we encountered. Everything aside, I'd like to thank some specific staff members who helped to still make our experience a good one.... Marina- front desk Jessica- masseuse Elida & Carolina- in spa area Matt- room attendant View was also stunning.

Yelp
Being gifted a day at their spa was truly a highlight of my year. This spa is incredible and something everyone needs to experience. First off, in comparison to many other SD spas, they have a great rate for their lunch and leisure package. You can enjoy either a facial or a massage plus lunch and access to the spa all day. My massage was fine. It wasn't the best I'd ever had but adding the cranial sacral component was key and felt so good! I loved getting to enjoy the day at the spa. I enjoyed a delicious sandwich by the pool and a Bellini that came with the package. The Roman showers are a must. The pressure that comes from the water pelting on your shoulders just melts the stress away. What a day in luxury! They validate valet parking making it a breeze to enjoy a beautiful day at the spa.

Yelp
We just returned from our 3rd trip to this location. The grounds are beautiful. The staff has always been very accommodating and friendly. On our most recent trip we booked a room by the garden pool which was lovely and a great size, but with our kids we realized quickly we should have booked at the plaza. The staff understood and were kind enough to move us to the plaza which is closer to the splash pools, which is really where our kids have the most fun. I will say the room on the plaza side was smaller but we made it work. Also the rooms are a bit dated and could definitely use some updating. The mattresses weren't the most comfortable. But for us our stay is always fun. So i stick to my 4 stars considering this last stay and our previous. Thank you to the staff at the La Costa!

Yelp
Review for the Lunch & Leisure Package for $295 at the Spa: +4 stars for customer service and massage: I was running late for my appointment (my fault) and they quickly and gracefully got me into my massage treatment with Julissa(sp?) and then gave me the tour of the amenities after. They did try to see if they can squeeze me in for a later time but they were fully-booked. I appreciated their effort! Julissa, girl, I love you. My neck, my back, and all of that felt so much relief even in the less-than-50 minutes we had together. She was so efficient with our time and it didn't feel rushed even with the shortened time. She put me in this pretzel/headlock thing, and omg, I was transported into another universe. My neck and shoulders all the way down to my hips during that *magical moment* felt SO good. I appreciate a very firm pressure with long strokes and pressure points, and she did all of that without causing pain. She was also so warm and jovial! Thank you for making my birthday gift to myself so wonderful. -1 for the underwhelming amenities for their vanity area and cleanliness of the robes and towels. The first robe they provided me had these brown smudges that looked VERY questionable on the collar and sleeves so I requested a replacement and the replacement had small pink/brown and gray spots on the robe. Got rid of it and used the robe that was provided in my locker. The towel that was provided in the shower bench had large yellow stains on it. I've been to other day spas/resort spas and they had an extensive selection of single-use toiletries available, including toothbrushes, face wash, toner, and various hair products beyond hairspray (hair oil, deep conditioner, heat protectant). I also noticed that they had disposable shavers available on a table where the showers are, however, they are unwrapped (removed from a sealed plastic) and can be a safety risk since someone can easily pick it up, use it, and the place it back on the table for another person to use. Would I say it was worth $295 after gratuity (included in the package)? No, especially when comparing it to other day spas/resort spas with improved cleanliness, various pool options, and wider selections of their vanity products. I did appreciate the generous portions of their cafe food! It tasted very good and will try the crab/papaya next time. Would I come back? Yes, but for a massage from Julissa and to sit under the fantastic pressure of the Roman showers.

Yelp
Walking up to the spa doors feels enchanting, you're greeted right away with smiles. The Spa packages are set at a comfortable price with gratuity included. I came on a Thursday to celebrate my anniversary with some R&R. The spa cafe has delicious food and great cocktails. The service is great even when there was only one server. If you're getting close to your appointment time, they even offer to store your food in the refrigerator until you're done. The waiting area for your appointment includes a nice fire and plenty of comfortable seating with ambient music, tea, infused water, and snacks. I had Julissa as my masseuse, she was very detailed in asking about my areas of pain so she knew where to focus. My massage was out of this world, the BEST massage I have had in 3 years!! You start off with aromatherapy oil selection, then a nice ritual to cleanse your mind before slipping away into total relaxation. 80 minutes was not enough, it was too good to end. . . But alas, all things must come to an end. I felt rejuvenated and relaxed. Now for the spa amenities, spas are separated by Men/Women. The women's side includes a quiet sitting area with a TV, magazines, and fireplace. You also have a hot tub, showers, light amenities in the bathroom with vanities to style your hair, moisturize, etc; you also have a steam room and sauna. The Jacuzzi jets need maintenance, one was splashing the water out of the tub, the steam room has cracked tile and some rusting. Men's spa (per my husband) has a cold plunge AND hot tub along with the amenities mentioned above. They have a television also. Definitely not equal amenities offered on each side, it would be nice to have an indoor coed area. The spa pool and Jacuzzi area were beautiful, but we didn't partake as it was a colder day. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. Staff is great, food is great, and my massage alone has me planning my next visit!

Yelp
Room was awful. I booked through Expedia, so maybe I received this room because it was "on discount"-- we got to the door and there were glasses and a hair tie outside the entry -- I went straight to the bathroom where I found unflushed toilet paper in the toilet bowl (gross). Went started moving the bench to get my seating room and we found a huge stain and something that resembled a used glove or condom under the bed. I ran to the front desk with photos and they offered me a $100 dollar food and beverage credit-- I said really?? She said is $200? I said fine but can you take this off the rate since we had dinner reservations for my birthday-- she said no, because we booked through Expedia. I had a useless $200 credit being forced to eat there (food has never been or is that great) since we have this credit and that's all. They did move us rooms, but the entire experience was awful. Oh and I was told to contact Expedia for a reduced rate/refund and when I did, Expedia said that the hotel rejected the request. Thank you for nothing, what an embarrassment. It really disappoints me to write this review btw bc I came here for a girls weekend to celebrate my birthday. I grew up at this resort, my family and I were members for 14 years until we moved to Los Angeles. It was embarrassing to bring my friends here, I really wanted to show off this place.

Yelp
The worst place to stay. Over rated! Our stay was good till I saw all the charges that i didn't make it and It came in my bill! I've never stay or use the pool and I had a charge in pool bar. Then, i saw another $200 in store charge and I was confused. Their explanation was that they were sorry and it seems someone put our room number by mistake. Unfortunately, while we were in rush the other day while we were dining in Bob's the waiter suggested to use room charge for restaurant. They were super busy and low staff. We accepted. Normally, we pay everything in place while we are traveling a lot and its easier to see the bill charges for our stay not using bar or restaurant. Omni, this time was the worst. Today at 27th February, i saw $200 pending charge on 18th February. I called the resort and I got same phrase... Wrong room charge probably! Im waiting to see when this will be posted in my card. Definitely, Im not going back to stay in Omni despite the great nights that i had before. Im suggesting everybody, be careful with your bill and make sure you are not charging anything to your room. The pending charge from 18th February and today is 27th! P.S: im supposed to add that they sent plumber to our room while our sink's drained was clogged.

Yelp
Finally got to use my Omni gift card at the Spa. Took a Friday off and hit the spa with one of my girlfriends. We had 2pm massage appointments but decided to go a few hours earlier to take advantage of the amenities. It was semi- raining the day we went so we didn't get to use the pool, but we were able to hit the lounge, the sauna and the steam room before our treatments. We also had lunch at the cafe. If you like crab, you must get the crab salad. I swear the lumped crab meat was very generous. The massage was amazing too. I'd go again...especially for the crab salad (apparently they only serve it a the Spa Cafe and you can only eat at that cafe if you are a Spa guest. )

Yelp
The valet and bell staff are wonderful here. They are attentive to your needs and very responsive. The grounds are beautiful with several swimming pools, some adults only pools etc. There left a jacket and the staff located it and got it right back to me. The front desk staff does their job- they aren't overly friendly nothing to write home about - which was surprising considering all the other great service. I sis use the gym and one of the trainer. One of THE BEST core workouts ever - and she was so gentle that I didn't realize how deep we'd worked my core. We used the meeting facilities and the catered food was good. Everything was well appointed would be a 5 star if some of the front desk staff didn't seem so bothered. It didn't hinder me. Well be back it's worth a return trip

Yelp
When we drive into the resort we were stunned how big the place was. It felt overwhelming. The check in was fast and the staff was very friendly. When we checked in we had to leave the car with the attendant who moved it if needed to be. This is a berry busy place and lots going on. After we checked in two of my coworkers had to wait to get their room keys so we went to my room and dropped off all our luggage. It took about one hour to get the rest of the keys. We went and parked our car, which was not an easy task since it seemed like all the parking spaces were occupied. Depending on where your room is it can be much for some people having to walk to the pool, bar or shops. There is no golf cart that shuttles people. We came here for a convention and weren't able to enjoy all the amenities the resort has to offer. I like to work out and couldn't find the fitness center. The one that I found was not for resort guests but I believe for those who own condos stutze resort. Yes, people live there. If you would like to buy a condo you can purchase one starting at $850,000. We saw a flyer at a real estate agency. The fitness center that I needed to use is located in the lobby with the entrance next to the bar. You will need to use the handicap ramp that leads to the elevator to the fitness center. The map of the resort does not list this. Even though we could not utilize many of the amenities the resort has to offer ,we did experience the resorts catering service and awesome food and outstanding service. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee breaks during and after the conference. The food was amazing with the exception of the dinner that was served for the conclusion of the conference. We had chicken and our entire table complaint that the chicken was too salty. The staff was very attentive and ensured that our plates were removed after we got done eating. The presentation of the food was very beautiful. The maids very thorough cleaning my room. We will be back next year. I hope by then they have better maps of the resort telling people where to find the gym and other things that are difficult to find. Also, I hope that it will be much easier to accommodate federal employees who must present a tax exemption form and have their bill adjusted. I have called three times and still have not had any luck to get a corrected bill emailed to me.

Yelp
$700 for two massages... We will not be coming back. Omni has recouped all the money lost during the pandemic... Why do they continue with insane overcharging? Hard to understand.

Yelp
Thanks Victoria for your call and reinstating my appreciation for the Omni staff and handling the mishap during our stay.

Yelp
All it takes is running the vacuum at night to get rid of 4 hair balls, 3 acrylic nails, 1 bandaid and 1 unknown item in the pool. Ewww. Was considering purchasing the resident membership but may stick to the lagoon.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had the lunch and leisure package at the spa for Valentine's Day. Overall it was okay. We regret the amount of money we spent---especially due to the construction. Lunch offered was a tuna sandwich I could have made myself for $10 at home. I requested a female massage therapist and got a male. $315 per person which I believe should have been $150 MAX Save yourself some money and go to the jacuzzi at your local YMCA, pay for a massage somewhere else and then go to Jersey mikes for a sub. Sorry but not worth it!

Yelp
When I first arrived to Spa La Costa on May 8th, I was taken back by the Old Spanish style gardens and architecture as it made for a pleasant walk from the valet to the spa itself. After checking in I received a detailed tour of the space which included amenities such as a the Cafe, Garden, Co-Ed Pool and Whirlpool and the lounge area. The women's locker room is equipped with a whirlpool,a dry and steam sauna, lounges, showers and toiletries. I began my relaxation by the pool with a good book and even better lunch! I ate the Smoked Turkey Panini and I HIGHLY suggest seeing as it was a decent size and came with chips and a salad. To drink I ordered the Sparkling Strawberry it was delicious and fresh. To finish everything off my waiter Daniel, who was very attentive and accommodating when I wanted to change lunch locations suggested the Chocolate dessert and it did not disappoint! I received a scrub and massage by Amber that left me feeling soft and renewed. Afterwards I had a blowout by Carmella that's lasted for days and a relaxing manicure by Leanne who was a great conversationalist! The spa boutique had a nice array of skin, hair and nail care products along with clothing and accessories. Overall I probably spent around $500-$600 for 3 services, lunch and gratuity for all those who helped me. I really enjoyed my time here and with this location being such a short drive from my home in DT Oceanside I can't wait to go back!!!

Yelp
Omni La Costa is simply a must. I am fortunate enough to have experienced this resort twice. The ambiance, mellow. The views, majestic. The golf courses, tough but beautiful! I am coming back here wvery year to celebrate my birthday. Thank you, Omni La Costa!

Yelp
This review is only for the marketplace store on the property. They serve breakfast/coffee and have snack and gift shop items. Stopped by early at 7am to grab a coffee and breakfast before starting the day. Veggie egg white burrito was terrible. The tortillas was broken into pieces and it was stuck to all the paper wrapper. Menu says egg whites, seasonal veggies, tomato confit. It's literally crappy tortilla that's wet and mushy, spinach, tomato, egg white for 14 bucks. Definitely a hard pass for future reference if you thought of having this for a healthy option. Coffee was good atleast which is why I gave 2 stars

Sandra C.

Yelp
Would give 3 1/2 stars if possible. Stayed for 1 night and two days for a girls bday celebration. We had a few different issues but the customer service was over the top exceptional. They went over and beyond to take care of us and make us happy. We will return. Bob's Steakhouse was delicious and the service was great as well.

Yelp
This resort was not as nice as I expected. The resort is very beautiful and well taken care of on the outside, however our room was not very nice. It felt very outdated and dirty. The funiture is outdated and dark which made the room feel darker. Definitely not a room that makes you want to rest and stay in. Pros to the room: The queen bed was comfortable. The tub is nice and big. Water pressure is good so the tub filled up pretty quick. Cons to the room: Felt dirty, dark furniture, outdated. Refrigerator was smaller than other hotel rooms we have stayed at, approximately 12x12. Pros to the compound: Nice size gym with peloton and excercise classes. Nice boutiques although pricey. Bike rentals available (no attachments for children or no kids bikes) Pool with slides was nice and fun for kids. The shuttle workers were very nice and respectful. Cons to the compound: The cushioned ground around the pools and splash pad looked moldy and dirty. The blue colored cushioned floor to the splash pad area rubbed off onto our feet, leaving a blue color on the soles of our feet. The location of the resort however is very close to the beach, restaurants and attractions. I would not spend that much money to stay here again though.

Yelp
Excellent location, perfect blend of "Marbella meets La Jolla" and produces La Costa in Carlsbad. I have been there before for several events and conventions and this time went for a Christmas market they are doing regularly (not sure if only for this time of the year). The atmosphere was excellent. The grounds are so well taken care of. Parking is free and easy, I just loved wandering around, checking the adorable market, the plants, the cleaning folks all smiling, having a coffee and sketching something at the coffee shop/store and checking the spa. It is a great place to go and spend the day no matter if you are not staying at the hotel or not using the spa services! it is an awesome place to do your walking workout as is so huge you can walk and walk and refill endorfins. The names of Costa del Sol and Costa de Luna are so cool and evoques Mediterranean luxurious lifestyle.

Yelp
In the end this place made the cut. It has a classic resort look and is really beautiful. It's very expensive and I noticed some "gremlins" about the place. Old carpet and water pooling in stairways when it rains. It feels like a luxury place that hasn't updated itself in a long time and as a result has become overpriced. In the end it won me over. Service was good and the various food places were spectacular. So I would recommend it with some reservations. Some facilities should defiantly be renovated

Yelp
We had the pleasure of staying at the Omni on 8/5 for our wedding night. We'd like to take a moment to express our gratitude for the exceptional employees at the resort. Being local to Carlsbad, we opted for the Omni to accommodate both ourselves and our wedding guests throughout the weekend, combining celebration and staycation. Our Friday started with a relaxing spa day, highlighted by Maria's fantastic massage and a peaceful time by the pool. Upon returning to our suite, we encountered a few issues, prompting us to engage with the front desk. After a delightful dinner at Bobs, where Abby, the manager, took remarkable care of our party of 10, we connected with Donna, the front desk manager on duty that night. Donna showed great empathy and understanding, especially since the room would soon become a bridal suite. She went above and beyond to rectify any concerns we had, even reaching out during our stay to ensure everything was satisfactory. For continued celebration post-wedding, we chose the hotel bar and were not disappointed. Benny, a bar staff member, provided exceptional service, ensuring our drinks were always full and our group was looked after. Alyssa also contributed to the amazing service, making certain all our needs were met. These two individuals made our wedding night truly special. While the hotel was fully booked and there may have been staffing challenges in housekeeping, resulting in our room not being cleaned during our two-night stay, the front desk addressed the situation during checkout. Despite some unforeseen circumstances, the staff's response exceeded our expectations, making our stay enjoyable and welcoming. We're loyal Omni enthusiasts, particularly fond of the La Costa spa, and we appreciate the opportunity to share our positive experience. Our heartfelt thanks to the Omni and its staff for their outstanding efforts in making our stay memorable.

Yelp
My room was meh and didn't smell fresh. The climate control is one of those motion-sensor affairs that shuts off when you're sleeping and not moving around. Fortunately the window opens and is screened. Beds were okay. Bathroom was spacious and clean. The main restaurant has a limited menu, and nice service, but high prices. Breakfasts are really not great--the hash browns taste like they were deep-fried in axle grease--and the prices are bad even by hotel standards. Staff is friendly. The place is nicely landscaped, and there are tennis courts and pools, but that's about it.

Yelp
The first time I visited the resort in 2018 it was beset with flies. A type of biblical infestation caused by the nearby lagoon. I vowed to never return. Induced by a work trip I returned only to be disappointed further. Whether it was a bell boy taking an hour to deliver luggage, a room that is very fine but for the price I should have stayed at the Fairmont. The campus dining is disappointing. The staff smiled and tried hard but there's only so many times they can offer drink coupons to cover for the shortcomings of the property. The shower has a dual spigot rain shower and normal shower. Often a nice addition. My rain shower dripped cold water ruining my attempts at solace via hydrotherapy. The golfers all spoke highly of their rounds but they weren't sleeping here and maybe that's the point.

Yelp
This photo is out my window of the pricy signature room:( lies about the hotel description of luxurious golf course views. I complained and was told by the manager that my room has a view. I stated a view of a parking lot, or dirt hill in my case, is a view and showed her the photo and the description of the ad when I booked the room. I asked to change rooms but told they can't. Unbelievable the lack of service these hotels offer, gone is the pride management used to have for their properties

Yelp
Stayed here over spring break with our kid and her cousin. I'd say somewhere between 3 and 4 but I'm rounding up. Good stuff: * The Garden Pool near our room was beautiful and we had it nearly to ourselves * Kid-friendly pool area near the main building: instant friends to play with, a few waterslides, plus poolside food and drink service (good fries!) * The resort grounds are very pretty, with floral touches everywhere * About six minutes to Legoland, without having to make your entire SD trip about Legoland * Our king bed was comfortable * Attentive but unobtrusive service * Fast wifi Less good stuff: * The sofa bed we were counting on as our child's sleeping accommodation felt like bare springs with a thin blanket covering it. They were able to wheel in a proper twin bed for her to use, but if they hadn't had that, we would have been in trouble. * The minifridge in our room started making a horrible, loud rattling noise at 1 AM (of course) and we had to pull it entirely out of the cabinet to unplug it. * When at speed, the fan in the room wobbled like it was about to fall out of the ceiling But other than that, we had a nice time. I would consider staying again but I would probably go for a suite with multiple actual beds.

Yelp
The property is beautiful, there are golf course, driving range, tennis courts and multiple pools. There is a kids arcade area too. Currently with covid in mind, if you opt out of room service and can get a $20 per day credit. That is a nice gesture. The staffs are nice and friendly. The room is spacious but a bit dated. I have quite a few mosquitoes in the room. The biggest problem is the WiFi is very slow in the property. Maybe they do it on purpose so you have to relax and unplug?

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel and location! The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful but my favorite part is their commitment to sustainability and landscaping

Yelp
We love this resort! You have golf, tennis, pools, restaurants, bar, hotel, ponds, waterfalls, driving range, kids resort, etc! When you want or need anything the service is there for you! Pricey, oh yeah!!!! It's not far up the freeway!! Splurge a little and take in everything La Costa has to offer!

Yelp
Decided to try this place out again and disappointed. They're understaffed and the grounds are full of garbage everywhere. The pool area has trash all over and nobody picks up after themselves nor is there any staff going around cleaning up throughout the day. They wait until the pool is closing to clean and dump leftover drinks out all over the ground. Not very sanitary. Our room smells like strong perfume, there's marker/crayon drawing in the entryway to our bathroom, and there was multiple spiders that we asked housekeeping to take care of because we couldn't reach them due to the high ceilings. We came back to find that they didn't get rid of the spiders. For what guests are paying please spend money on appropriate staffing to clean this place up.

Yelp
Have stayed here several times. Apparently it's under new management and I haven't been impressed. The rooms are outdated and damp. Showers are leaky and they don't get fixed. We've arrived to have wet carpets from carpet shampooing on a couple occasions. On the last stay, my credit card was charged several times for meals I did not have. The manager took care of it, but the first person I spoke to was not helpful and indicated they'd have to research it first......um, no. I'm unhappy with the new parking gates and the charge for daily parking is ridiculous. Upside: The grounds are beautiful. There's several options for eating, many pools, sidewalks, safe neighborhoods to walk through, etc. It's a great location for a lot of things, including the interstate, beach, and restaurants/shopping. I do overall enjoy Omni but feel that it has gone downhill. It is a family friendly resort with many amenities, but perhaps not worth with price.

Yelp
Husband gave me a gift card so I decided to go on a day off. Friday afternoon, beautiful day. I arrived at 10:30 since my massage was at noon. Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna before my massage was lovely. There was sand at the bottom of the jacuzzi, not sure why. Showers are a bit dated though they had everything I needed from covered razors, lotions, soap the usual. I waited to be called in the waiting room and noticed overused couches where the color is rubbed off almost dirty. Edges of the couches bumped on. I feel that for the price people are paying, why is the furniture and bathrooms so dated. I had masseuse Charlotte for 80 min with CBD treatment. Amazing!!!! Great massage and I feel this will be a quarterly visit for me. I wrapped up famished so I walked over to the restaurant to eat a turkey panini. Huge portions. Great salad and chips came with it. I enjoyed it with a June shine Kombucha. Walked over to the pool side and enjoyed my drink and two more for the last 2 hours. Went back in and spent my last hour in the jacuzzi and steam room. The outside grounds are beautiful with plants and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Valet is complimentary and I wondered around the grounds till about 5:30 pm. A real treat.
