Omni Mount Washington Resort

"Like many of the hotels on this list, the Omni is a grand space with a history stretching back to 1902. What sets it apart is its famous clientele—noteworthy guests include Thomas Edison and three U.S. presidents. A stroll down the magnificent porch offers views of the woodlands of White Mountain National Forest, including an excellent perch to see fall foliage changing colors. (The trees in the surrounding mountains sometimes turn as red as the hotel’s roof.)"

I never understand how anyone can write a bad review on this resort. The staff are fabulous…never a sour person one. The food is great and our room is so comfortable and cozy. If you do not care for the older historical rooms then stay in one of the Presidential rooms. The cleaning staff will take great care of your room. There is something for everyone. The wait staff are professional & wonderful. Have a drink at Stickney’s with Leo..he is fabulous as well as at the Main room bar with Stacey…she is fantastic! Marvin in the Club lounge will take great care of you. Leidy in the Main dining room is so sweet & attentive.||Now the Loyalty Program is wonderful & Rhonda is so lovely, professional & helpful in every way. She took care of us from prior to our trip up until the last day!!! She is the best!||One last thing..every person we talked to staying at the resort were fantastic …so nice and happy. Obviously like us they were having a great time.

A legendary escape into timeless elegance. The Mount Washington Hotel is truly one of those rare places that feels both grand and historic, yet warm and welcoming. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by stunning mountain views and the unmistakable aura of a place with real history. The architecture is majestic, the atmosphere feels almost cinematic, and the experience is one-of-a-kind. Whether you’re sipping a drink on the veranda or simply wandering the halls, you can feel the echoes of the past in the best way possible. This hotel is more than just a place to stay — it’s a New England icon, and a destination in itself. Legendary, unforgettable, and absolutely worth the trip.

The Omni Mount Washington Hotel is a true luxury getaway! The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, and full of charm with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The hotel offers so much more than just a place to stay—it has its own shopping stores, a fun arcade room, and even a swimming pool in the basement, which was a great surprise. If you’re attending an event, the large conference rooms are perfect for conferences—elegant, well-equipped, and very professional. The food is top-notch as well—breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious and offered a wide variety of options. The entire experience felt relaxing and upscale, with plenty of things to do without even leaving the property. Highly recommended for both leisure and business stays!

i loved loved this hotel! the staff is very friendly and the food is 10/10. the staff even left my newlywed husband and i champagne and chocolate covered fruit. we stayed in the presidential suites which was gorgeous and my husband thoroughly enjoyed both his golf days!! the spa on the otherhand was a different story- the spa itself was very relaxing- but i spent decent money on a pedicure that didnt last 1 day and smudged immediately when the spa associate assured me it was ok to immediately wear sneakers (I didnt do anything the next day that would have caused this) the facial was okay but definitely not worth the cost. hydrafacials cost lest and give a significantly better result. the spa staff is very sweet and welcoming but not a spa i would visit again next time i visit the hotel unfortunately

When you book a stay here bring your wallet. No free parking. $20 to self park. $35 for valet parking, per day! Golf is $145 a player for the 18 hole course. $79 for 9 hole course. The food was good and tasty. $35 for the breakfast buffet, order of the menu for breakfast. The pools are nice.||I feel it is over priced for what you get.

Google
Hands-down, I have not had a better experience at a hotel resort in my life. From the moment we arrived, our auto was valet parked. Our bags were brought in and brought directly to our room. I have to mention, In all the interactions with staff and service, they were incredibly polite, personal and extremely attentive. I was celebrating my retirement, and we even received a special champagne and dessert room service from the hotel as a surprise. The personal touches were outstanding. We enjoyed a meal and cocktails in every single one of the restaurants on site. Each offered different cocktails and a different menu. Everything was delicious. This weekend that we chose to go, the weather was foggy and dreary, but that wasn’t going to get in the way as the hotel has many shops and services to keep us busy all day long. We decided to utilize the spa for treatments and let me tell you, the Spa is one of the best Spas I’ve ever been in. The service was five star for sure. I could talk about this place all day. Here’s what I would tell you, get online book an overnight or weekend there. Indulge in a little self-care. Before you leave, I guarantee you’ll be looking at your calendar to see when you can come back.

The hotel is extraordinary in as much as it looks like a huge cake. You find out pretty quickly, due to being nowhere near anything that you are going to get gouged for your cash as soon as you arrive. It’s 35 dollars a day to park. So on a two day stay you are 70 bucks in the hole before you step into the place. Check in then informs you that for your two days there is a resort fee of 100 dollars for things like wifi. The list is what any other hotel supplies. So $170 down before you have seen your room. The rooms are faded and small with in ours torn curtains and broken roller blinds. The bathroom is dates. The glass cover in the bathroom was rusty. The TV barely worked and most channels were fuzzy like the WiFi was not working. The WiFi was utterly hopeless and barely covered email. |It’s expensive and vastly over priced with you getting hit for everything. Will we come back? No as it’s playing on a former reputation and for less money you can get better. Beware on a Monday night their 1902 is the only restaurant open and you are paying Michelin star prices for average food.

Google
Nice resort but very expensive. $20 night charge for self parking is a joke and that's on top of the resort fee. The fact that other resorts do it does not justify the charge. Air-conditioning in room barely worked and made it difficult to sleep on a humid night. Food was good but expensive but that was expected. Watch bartenders if ordering mixed drinks. Barely any alcohol and very expensive and that is at all of the bars and restaurants. Staff was friendly and the views are beautiful.

Yelp
We were fortunate to stay here for 2 nights, as part of our tour package, at the famous Omni Mt. Washington Hotel. It is a place of former elegance that is kept up to remain current elegance. It was a joy to see where the Upper Crust congregated in several generations past. There is much to see and that is done with the help of a map which guides you through the four very large stories. There are many interesting rooms preserved for viewing, such as an on-site post office. On our first night we ate at one of main bars - the food, service and ambiance were all excellent. The second night we ate in the restaurant- same menu and great food. Breakfast on both mornings, by the window, was on tables with white linen tablecloths and attentive service. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Our corner room was old-style elegance and extremely large for just two people. We had great views of the hotel grounds and surrounding countryside. Our two complaints was that one of the elevators was out of order, and our room was on the 4th floor. So we did lots of walking on the grand staircases. Magnifying bathroom mirror in our bathroom, was taller than me!

Yelp
The golf course is a Donald Ross classic- basically flat (links course front 9 ) and Mountain golf back 9. Course has multiple tee boxes and is challenging- views are terrific on a clear day(Mt Washington) in the background. Today the summit was in the clouds but the hotel stood out. Staff is nice and plenty of parking for guests.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the experience of walking into a hotel with so much history and architecture. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. Everyone on the staff was super nice and helpful. The food was good and the views breathtaking. Definitely worth stopping in to look around and enjoy a beverage or full meal. Looking forward to coming back when "The Cave" is open to enjoy a 100 year old speakeasy.

Yelp
This place is dirty. $500 per night for a room and the bathroom was dirty. The main lobby has amazing tall ceilings and gorgeous woodwork but it looks like it hasn't been painted since 1920 and the carpets look like they are from 1970. They have an outdoor heated pool in the winter, but there's no way you could stay in the pool for more than a few minutes as the water is heated to only 80°. They charge $20 to park your own car. No valet. No mention of this when you book the room.

Yelp
this was a. nice stay during our visit to new hampshire. we spent three nights here golfing and taking in the sights. this historic hotel is truly that. it has old world charm mixed with great views and nice accommodations. we stayed in the presidential side of the hotel which looks to be the newest area. it was nice with both shower and tub. nice touches such as nest products and bath salts were an added bonus. we visited the "cave" one evening for after dinner drinks and really enjoyed that venue. overall this is a great stay with restaurants on site and the staff is super friendly. on the downside, our room was never serviced until late in the evening even though we were out most of the day. on our final day, housekeeping woke us up at 8:45. sure, we needed to get up ad going, it was just ironic that checkout was the one time they serviced the room early,

Yelp
We stayed at the Omni Mount Washington Resort for two nights and switched to the Bretton Arms Inn for the third night. Built in 1900 and completed in 1902, it is pretty well kept. We stayed in a double queen room which was larger than I had anticipated for our family of 4. The bathroom was almost as big as our master bathroom at home. The kids enjoyed the arcade and Morsel's which offered coffee, pastries and ice cream. We packed light so we had to do laundry which was down the way from the arcade. The views are amazing. We worked off what we ate at the indoor pool and gym. There is an outdoor pool too. We took a drive on Kancamagus Highway and shopped at an outlet. We had dinner near the outlets. The resort fee includes a ride on the gondola where we went first thing in the morning. We had it practically to ourselves. The kids approve and would love to visit again in the future.

Yelp
We came two years ago for a new year's celebration weekend, and came back this year with extended family for some January snow fun. The staff is super nice and they are the best part. They do, however, need a much larger staff to accommodate the number of guests they get, especially during ski season. No doubt this place is understaffed, probably to save money, but it's not a great move for a place that prides itself on being a classic ski style resort. In terms of the food, well, I'm sure this place has seen better days. This is an uninspired kitchen, serving a lot of frozen and microwaved food, as far as I could tell. Even the children's menu is poorly done. I understand we're in the middle of nowhere, and perhaps getting fresh food is difficult, but if you're going to be a top level establishment, you've got to get better product in your restaurants. Some of the main course were pretty good, if not great, so I'll add that in. Again, the employees are so nice and trying so hard despite the poor management and lack of support. The rooms are pretty comfortable, especially in the newer side, the presidential wing; however, the bathroom stall doesn't even have a sliding door, which means only one person can use the bathroom at a time. Moreover, we saw room service trays sitting on the floor in the hallways, in which nobody came to pick them up. The skiing is fun and the place super casual, but don't expect a high experience. The club lounge was dirty and smelled like vomit. Strange. Rooms are otherwise comfortable, and the place enjoyable for families, but I truly believe they could take it to a higher level if they really wanted to.

Yelp
This is where I stayed in the White Mountains. The Mount Washington Hotel was built in the early 1900s and is very close to one of the major ski areas, Bretton Woods. Too bad I don't ski I'd come back in the Winter. All in all the hotel is divine and very highly regarded as a 4 star resort. I really enjoyed all the amenities and the grounds are just beautiful. I recommend the resort to all my friends traveling this far North!

Jay S.

Yelp
The good most of the people are very nice. The bad, the process of most things, (service, up keep, dirty hot tub, dirty floors, etc.) the product (food, drink, entertainment) and price. Just look on yelp where this hotel rated for amenities, up keep of hotel, and food quality against other establishments. It's certainly not the same experience as in the past. My thoughts are people come here to see the grand hotel and history from 1902. The owners are enjoying the profits, without much thought to the customer experience.

Yelp
I had a magical week at this Omni Resort. The food serviced in this resort was above average for every meal. The staff was phenomenal. They were extremely attentive & went above & beyond with everything they did. Their attention to detail was immaculate. Though my dog is a service dog, the hotel is now dog friendly. They even took care of him without me asking watching the young people getting married there made for a more magical experience filled with love and joy. Those were just bonus moments for me & lucky timing for our reservation. I can't wait to return in the winter as I'm told it's one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Yelp
The classic Mount Washington Hotel is a beautiful, grand White Mountains property overlooking Mount Washington and the surrounding presidential mountains. Built in 1902 and the site of the Bretton Wood accords which established the International Monetary Fund and theWorld Bank, the hotel sports sprawling corridors and hallways, several bars and restaurants, a gym, indoor and outdoor pools and a golf course. Needless to say, there is plenty to do on property and off. Service was friendly and professional although, do expect to encounter lines for check-in, check-out and the Morsels coffee bar. The hotel is expensive, with lunch and dinner coming in at around $70+ for two on the low end and breakfast being slightly less. The room itself was nice, we booked through the American Express Hotel collection and as part of the benefits we received an upgrade to a King Deluxe room. Specifically our room was the one below 314 which is famously haunted. We did hear a lot of noises and knocking throughout the night as a result of the paranormal activity present in the hotel. As an aside, the hotel had very few vegan menu items across its restaurants which was disappointing, considering the calibre of Omni Hotels we expected better.

Yelp
Amazing! A friend recommended me to stay here and I am glad we did. This place was amazing, professional staff, clean and beautiful hotel, great food, good wine and spirit selection and then there are the views. Take in mind, you are staying in a 100+ year old hotel, so there will be blemishes. But, what 100+ year old hotel has a outdoor heated pool with views of Mountain Washinton. Bring your suit, especially if it is snowing! We will be back.

Yelp
The hotel looks great outside but inside, it's just another motel 6. Cost us over $500/night with a king size bed, tiny room, old old fixtures, and a tiny tv. Bath doesn't even have a vent, old rusty toilet, and body wash and shower cab. This hotel doesn't worth what we paid. Will not recommend or come back.

Yelp
I have always wanted to come here but the prices are always too high. Don't get me wrong, because I am a hotel snob and do not mind paying a higher price if I feel it is worth the experience. I came only because of a conference with reasonable pricing and stayed 2 nights. I live in NH so I know how rural it is but this hotel is in the middle of no where so expect to drive if you would like other entertainment or dining options. N Conway is a straight 28 miles away so drive is about 40 minutes. This is a historic grand hotel. Not much in terms of updates. Radiator heating in rooms. My room was spacious. Honestly, the beds were the best I ever slept in and that includes the pillows. I was surprised no refrigerator or coffee pot in room. However, I found out by a colleague that the fridge is free and available through housekeeping. Now why 1. Would they not already be in room and 2. Why wouldn't I be advised on this during check in. They do have a safe in the room. They have a few restaurants that, as expected, are grossly over priced. A steak for $50 plus. Please, the quality would be no better than what I could get at my local butcher for half the price. Alcoholic beverages are overpriced as well but I usually BYOB. Breakfast buffet was a good price point of $30. Includes juice and coffee. Served in Main dining and no al a carte options available. I can't imagine a family of 4 or 5 paying for this but it was just me so I did not mind. They have a nice inground pool with hot tub. They have a great arcade. They have some shops with weird hours. Half of them closed and open only on the weekend. At 4pm, they light the firepits and you can buy smore kits from 2 different stores on site. Again, if you do not purchase before they close you are SOL because they do not sell them at the front desk. Note to the hotel: you need to have supplies at front desk for purchase. They have a lot of land so not sure why they wouldn't have a nice play area for kids. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. All and all I enjoyed my stay during the conference. Unless, you can get a reasonable price (under $300/night), I wouldnt bother staying as it simply is not worth a higher cost.

Yelp
We have stayed here in the past, as my husband and I got engaged here 5 years ago. We decided to make it an annual stay on our anniversary weekend with our two small children (aged 2 and 4), now that they are able to enjoy the amenities. During our last stay, my husband's car was hit overnight in the parking lot. It was a very high impact hit, judging from the damage done. On our anniversary morning, we walked out to the car and realized what had happened. Needless to say, we spent the entire day with security and the local police to file a report. We learned that Omni has NO security cameras in the self parking lot, which is ridiculous. If you pay the amount per night that they are charging, you would expect that your vehicle be monitored overnight, especially when the resort has weddings almost every night of the weekend. We also spoke with several members of the Omni team , as well as the police who responded, who state that this was a common occurrence in the property yet NOTHING has been done to correct the problem. The morning of checkout, I requested to speak with a manager about compensation since an entire day was lost due to figuring out the logistics of the damage done to the car. Although we know that Omni is not at fault for what happened, they could surely compensate for at least the day we lost filling out reports. However that was not the case and the manager was extremely snarkey and defensive saying that it was an unfortunate situation, but there was nothing they could do . Long story short, we planned to make this an annual trip with our children since it was such a special place for us, but for sure will NEVER be returning again.

Yelp
Now I know why this gorgeous hotel has only 3.5 stars. My friends and I were on a day trip from Franconia and decided to stop in and tour this beautiful resort. It is breathtaking and the architectural history behind it is amazing. We found somewhat close parking, walked around inside quite a bit noticing clean bathrooms, intricate detail in the historic and ornate decor and common rooms along with two different weddings going on. We liked the fact that you can seat yourself in the outdoor seating which has a view that would blow the mind of anyone along with very comfortable seating. You might ask, why the 3 star rating? We were given one fancy menu between the four of us and proceeded to order 4 drinks including the mimosa, Prosecco drink and a rock star martini along with the pretzel and ricotta cheese pizza. It came out from our server quite quickly and the pretzel was very fresh, yummy and good sized but the beer cheese was a funky yellow/orange and looked like it came out of a Tostitos jar. The pizza was amazing with bacon and a ricotta spread on it. We got our bill after enjoying the view and our conversation for awhile and noticed that the drink prices were higher than on the menu that we ordered from. I thought it was a mistake so went to our server and asked her about it. She said "well you didn't order the mimosa 75, you just said mimosa. Plus you said yes to Tito's when I asked if you wanted that in your Prosecco drink." I then said I felt duped since we had no idea there was a more expensive plain mimosa and she said, "sorry, you didn't say that. " she didn't offer to fix it and I felt so angry and taken advantage of. Not cool at all and be careful to order your drinks EXACTLY as they are stated in the menu.

Yelp
We recently booked a last minute one night stay at this historic hotel. In the past, we've enjoyed the stunning views from the patio during foliage season but had never stayed. To be honest , while "historic" and "iconic" may be very appealing to many, it traditionally is not necessarily our cup of tea. Our spur of the moment stay during a beautiful two day window of bright blue skies and daytime temps above freezing, made the Omni a perfect choice including availability in the Presidential wing. I've watched room prices here for a while. They aren't cheap. However an added plus is no minimum stay requirement at least during our stay and a special featuring a late checkout!! We traveled to Woodstock and Ice Castles while here, about 40 minutes away. Please note this review is for a King room in the Presidential wing. The Presidential wing is a new modern wing in this historic hotel. The setting of the Omni is unparalleled with views of Mount Washington and the presidential range. In February, the mountain tops are snow covered . When we opened the door to our King Balcony accommodations , we felt we had the best view in the entire hotel: Mt Washington and its observation tower was directly in front of our balcony. The rooms in this wing are spacious, comfortable and very quiet. A Keurig and small fridge are located in the room. Our room had a lovely soaking tub . The bathroom area was great though an upgrade on TP brand is definitely warranted. Shower water pressure awesome, bedding is comfy and overall room design excellent. Two robes are provided, handy if you opt to try the heated outdoor pool ( yes it's open in February!) The pools are open from 8 am- 10pm. The water temp of the lovely outdoor pool the day of checkin was perfect, one family enjoying it as we walked by. I'm kicking myself for not going in then but we had a commitment about 30 min away and didn't really have a window to enjoy that afternoon. The next morning at 1030, the water temp was much lower and hard to get in. Not swimable but I took a quick dip. This was disappointing . The indoor pool was almost as cold. It certainly wasn't the draw to stay here but of course you're going to try it! We had a late lunch at Stickneys , a nightcap in the Cave and coffee and muffins from Morsels the next morning. The hotel was fairly quiet due to lack of snow for February but there were many skiers shuttling over to Bretton Woods. It was a very relaxing stay as we enjoyed sitting near the massive fireplaces in the main salon as well as a quiet nook located downstairs from the spa when we weren't taking in the majestic view from our rooms balcony . We will return and definitely will rebook in the Presidential wing. Of note: it is quite a distance from the main salon and reception desk, if mobility is an issue. The walk though is lovely, past walls of windows with welcoming quiet seating to enjoy the mountain view if your room view isn't top notch.

Yelp
We came for a moms & kids trip - Story Land, pool days, etc. Overall: gorgeous hotel, impeccable service. Just relaxing & looking out at the view of Mount Washington on the main porches or in any of the common areas is a wonderful experience. The pools were a bit cold for our liking while we were there, but the overall experience was still lovely. They could definitely use some more staff on valet and bellhop services. No one was available to help me at check-in or check-out and I really struggled, being there by myself with a 3 year old and a whole bunch of bags, trying to self-park in a remote parking lot and then having to drag everything up and down all of those flights of antique stairs... My 3 year old son and I stayed for three nights in a superior room in the older part of the hotel for three nights in late August. My best friend and her two young children stayed in a king room with a balcony in the newer wing of the resort. My son and I enjoyed a comfortable room with high ceilings, beautiful views and easy access to the restaurants and most of the other amenities. Our Victorian bathroom showed its age at times and the one service elevator was slow and unreliable (we ended up just taking the stairs most of the time) but the architectural charm made up for those inconveniences. I was worried that it might be noisy, given the thin walls, etc., but we both slept great. My only complaint was that housekeeping never replenished toiletries during our 3 night stay. They were good about towels and water bottles, though. My friend and her kids stayed (what felt like) miles away, in a pristine room in a deserted wing, where they seemed to be the only occupants. They had a coffee maker and fridge in their room, which I envied, and a modern bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. Also, a private balcony with chairs, which was nice to sit outside and drink wine on at night, but less nice in the daylight, when you realized the view was of a construction site. They were also much closer to the pool and spa. Given all of that, I'd choose the main hotel every time, but that's just me! We found the best restaurant to be the main dining room. The porch is good for drinks, snacks and desserts. The steak house downstairs was not anything I'd recommend. Top notch restaurant servers everywhere we ate, though. There were lots of activities for kids and plenty of things to keep all of us busy/happy. We had a great stay and are already talking about coming back again next year.

Yelp
This hotel was the site for a recent conference I attended. When looking at the hotel's website, which proudly declares recent renovations my expectations were high. Sadly, if your room is in the main building, those renovations include bathrooms only. The new president's wing which also houses the spa (you can not make an appointment so don't bother) has newer, clean and modern rooms. The rooms in the main building are very dated with clunky, stained furniture that's too big and doesn't match. My desk chair did not fit into its opening in the desk. The closet was not full size leaving me with nowhere to hang my dresses - enter the moldings (!) : ( just yuck. The carpets are threadbare and there is one elevator. There are no ice machines. You might get lucky and be present when the ice server makes her rounds - or not! There are no refrigerators or coffee machines in room. I found the closet on my floor where they stow the refrigerators. It was depressing. This is not a 4 star hotel. This place reflects the common flaws of dated older hotels. You just shouldn't be dealing with them at this price point. True investment in updating rooms to include in room refrigerators and coffee makers is a MUST for 4 stars. Modern furniture that fits the room size, and open wardrobe storage are ideal. These are basic expectations. Service is the one area where the hotel shines. Employees take care of guests and act like they care- which does matter. Now it is time for the hotel group to invest in the bones. If the views and activities matter more to you than these issues, you may be fine here.

Yelp
I give the Mount Washington Holel two stars just for the Interior and the Winter decorations in the halls and the sitting lounges on the ground floor. The real trouble was the room itself and the room service. I stayed in the hotel for two nights in late November and paid $600 and $500 for both nights respectively. 1. There were neither a refrigerator in the room not a coffee machine. There was no place in any lounge to get hot water either. You could only buy tea in a small coffee shop, but that closed at 5pm. So, if you brought something that requires refrigeration - eat it on the spot or keep it in your car during frosty weather. If you want a warm cup of tea late in the evening - forget about it. (But these inconveniences I consider to be minor) 2. The surfaces of the furniture in the room were perfectly dusty. The furniture itself shabby looking. There were cracks in the skirting boards around the walls. There was a huge stain on the carpet. The lining of the curtains on the windows was literally falling apart and hung in shreds. One of the pull-down shades on the window was broken, so, when you pulled it down, you could not raise it to its original position. One of the curtains was partially torn from the hoops that ran along the crossbar on which it was held. (I personally think that for $600/$500 a night the hotel could provide a better accommodation, but that was also minor) 3. The crowning glory came on our second night of stay in Mount Washington. Before coming to bed, I raised the thermostat to 72F, because the night was supposed to be really chilly. I woke up at 2pm from bitter cold, as if I was sleeping outside. The thermostat now showed 68F and the radiators were as cold as ice. I raised the thermostat to 72F again. After a while the radiators started to give again some warmth. Needless to say, I woke up that the morning in the bitter cold and the thermostat again was showing me 68F. As a result of this I got the most severe cold, and I had to pay only $1100 for it. I want to say that the reception hall and sitting rooms of the hotel were extremely warm. I guess, the staff was saving their energy on the guests by switching off the heating systems of their rooms, hoping that "they won't notice it during the night time". 4. At last, comes the quality of the service of the hotel that I found extremely rude and annoying. My package description stated that it included "late departure at 1pm" feature. So, I took my time having breakfast and packing my things, when at 11:30 I received a phone call and very sternly was asked "to leave the room". On my explanation of the package deal, I was bluntly talked back that "I need to pay extra for that." Afterwards, every five minutes a cleaning maid would knock on the doors with the loud question: "Are you still there?" So, I left, of course, and when I was signing out, I complained at the front desk about the false advertising of a "late departure". The guy at the desk looked at me with his kind innocent eyes and reassured me, that "everything was all right, I did not have to pay extra, I can remain in my room until 1pm", after I had already packed up and taken all of my belongings to the car. My verdict is: Mount Washington Hotel is a historical property. If you happen to be in the area, its good to go there for a historical tour (that the hotel provides), look around the place, admire the sitting rooms and lounges and the vistas of the White Mountains they provide, and then just leave. I strongly do not recommend staying there overnight. The whole room accommodation and service is not worth the money, and during the cold time of the year you can end up with pneumonia.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate our anniversary and I expected to pay top rates for excellent service and excellent food. This was not the case. The room we stayed in was in the Bretton Arms Inn which is quaint and nice, but we were on the top floor with sloped ceilings and dormers. My husband hit his head number times on the sloped ceilings in a room we were paying premium prices for. We had drinks on the porch at the main hotel. The first food we received was not cooked. it was cold black bean and sweet potato tacos. We sent these back and were told we could order more food for free and our drinks would also be free. We ordered the food and I received the wrong item. It was sent back and the right item was ordered but when we asked for the bill, nothing was comped. I questioned this and the food was comped but not the drinks. I left feeling like this was not the experience I was paying for. We have stayed here in the past and really enjoyed ourselves, but we will not be back. This has become a place that depends on its historical reputation, but is not living up to its reputation at all. It is no longer an experience. It is just a plain hotel!

Yelp
For a luxury resort, their customer service lags far behind and was extremely disappointing. Not a review of the hotel itself, but if you encounter any issues with your booking I would definitely not count on any Omni Resort or Hotel customer service to show any flexibility or understanding. The customer service representatives I dealt with showed little to no sympathy or understanding, and requests needed to be repeated several times as English wasn't their first language. E-mail wasn't much help either as you'll receive an automated message with copied contractual jargon, almost as if your message wasn't read or understood in the first place. Nothing against the hotel itself, but if you're looking for a personal touch or good customer service I would not recommend staying at any Omni property.

Yelp
A quick caveat ... if you are coming here to get a bonified resort experience ... you may want to consider coming post-covid. We were supposed to be in Italy this fall but microbes had a different plan, so now that travel is less restricted in the US, we decided to head to Mount Washington Resort, which has always been on our bucket list of swanky grand dame hotels to visit. First impression ... is the movie 'The Shining' ... an almost unbelievably (for the area) grand and vintage looking white resort with red roof highlighted against a snow capped mountain. You drive through some beautiful scenic roads (we came in mid-October and missed peak by about 2 weeks ... leaves were 50% gone due to a wind storm.) until you take a few turns off the highway and pass several closed up shops ... and one gas station/old fashioned general store advertising cold beer and night crawlers on the same sign. Stock up on your beer, chips and snacks here because food options are few and far between at the resort if you haven't made reservations in advance. The resort itself is beautiful ... like something from a bygone era. Disney reportedly used The Hotel Del in Coronado, CA as an influence for their flagship resort, The Grand Floridian. However, it feels more like The Mount Washington Resort inside. It's grand on a 1920's scale and you are transported back into time after walking into the lobby. Unfortunately the seating areas are chained off (it's a white chain, so I guess classier than metal) but it's still beautiful to soak in. You make it to the front desk's plexiglass and masked 20-something year old staff and you'll be checked in. Know this ... the restaurants book up for reservations, so make them in advance. We saw more than a few guest FREAK OUTS about this ... literally, if you put someone in a tiny $500/night room and then tell them they'll have to eat out of a cardboard box the entire time they are there ... get ready for some 'Karen fireworks'. Luckily, we made our reservation for the main dining room. The first night, we were on our own for food and ate $16 burgers and $14 hummus dip out of a box in our room. The weather did not cooperate ... two days of chilly rain. We didn't even see the mountains until the day we were leaving due to the fog and clouds. Thankfully, I spoke to a VERY helpful staffer in advance, Rachel, who for $100 per night upgraded our standard room to the Princess Caroline Room. It had a fireplace, a 4-poster bed and enough space to walk around. As we checked out, we walked down the hall and saw the maid cleaning a standard room, which looked to be the size of a West Hollywood closet and we are seriously considering nominating Rachel for sainthood. Our room was the highlight of the trip. (Despite the tales of haunting, we saw no ghosts, other than one of the side-tables whose drawer magically opened on its own. More likely an uneven floor than the ghost of a NH socialite.) The staff here is VERY helpful and likely underappreciated as I am sure they get their fair share of bitching and complaining about the covid-era restrictions. No sitting in the lobby, few dining options, no spa during the week, no room service, gondola rides on weekend only, no heated outdoor pool, no tours of the property and all these restrictions come with a $35 per day 'resort fee'. Yeah ... no. Thankfully, they waived it upon request. We did walk around the property and there is a fantastic not-to-be missed trail which leads along the golf course into the woods and past a winding river ending up at a natural basin/waterfall. Well worth it! We passed on horseback riding after seeing a carriage riding through a parking lot ... but I did fit in a chilly round of golf. We ate at the main dining room ... the food was average ... sort of like wedding food. My chicken was incredibly dry and chewy, her pork cutlet was covered in salty gravy. Dessert (bourbon sticky toffee pudding) was the star of the show and much appreciated after two days of mediocre food. The biggest advice I'd give the hotel ... they NEED to invest in an app for guests! To say that ordering lunch from Stickney's Pub (the only restaurant or bar open in the afternoon) was insanity would be an understatement. There is a line which snakes down a narrow hallway. Folks in this line are either ... waiting to check in or make reservations, waiting to put an order in at the bar ... or waiting to order a drink from the bar. No order, no information and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING! The bar is a free for all with people waiting for orders, ordering a drink or trying to order food. It's like spring break at happy hour. When you do order, you then have to snake your way through this again, get the bartender's attention and pick up your bag. Overall, it was a fun stay because our room was so great, we didn't need to leave much. If we were in a small room and wanting a true 'resort' feel, we would likely wait until things were back to normal. The property is beautiful!

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at this hotel and already booked a second trip! This hotel has been on my bucket list to stay at since I was a teen. They offered a deal I could not pass up for the off season.. I finally decided why not! And booked an over night. The staff was very friendly and check in was super quick. The room was just what I needed, and had a very nice bathroom. Very clean, provided bottle water and toiletries. I did go to the pool and hot tub which was great after a day of skiing. I had dinner at the 1902 Main Dining hall which was ask phenomenal. The bartender was so friendly and nice to chat with too.

Yelp
we have had nothing but trouble trying to contact them, getting misinformation, and being given the runaround. In order to get a straight answer, you will have to call many times because despite with the first person tells you the second person will tell you something different..

Yelp
More recent visit showed some improvement. Rooms in the main hotel aren't better, but the presidential wing is first class. The great hall is a little bit better than what it was a year or two ago, less chipping paint and less tattered rugs, but not what you'd expect of a hotel with this "grand" identity. Progress, but a long way to go to live up to its historic reputation.

Yelp
When you pay $800 per night (more after they add crazy "fees") , you expect some add-ons and amenities. Also, you expect impeccable customer service. You won't find those things here. You will find a very small room, old, not upgraded. A peek at the mountains. That's it! We received 3 drink tickets, good for beer and wine only, and we were a group 4 people. There's not much in the area for food so we had to eat all our meals here. The main dining 1902 charges for Brunch $120 plus tip for our group of 4 and the food wasn't edible! 2 stars because the views are majestic and the ambiance was great! Also, Stickney's wins in the food category! 10/10 for Stickney's! For the cost of our weekend here, we could've gone to Aruba for a week! Very very overpriced in every way! Housekeeping and management need a complete overhaul! On our last day, our room was not cleaned. We asked 4-5 times to send someone up and they did not! Asked for a manager 3 times and they were "on break" every time! The floor we were on had housed a wedding party and there were glasses and food trays in the hallway. Also several mini fridges. After one of our calls for help, somehow a used fridge ended up in our room. Unplugged, with half eaten sandwiches inside! Didn't belong to us, we didn't request it. No idea how that happened! When we complained, they sent an older woman up who couldn't lift or move it. My husband ended up moving the fridge out. For the money you pay here, the value is not there! They know you're stuck! They know you won't be back! They don't care!

Yelp
Delightful meal, amazing stop on a drive through, will be back to stay next time in the area, worth the hype, make it a stop on your New England tour for sure!

Yelp
My husband and I visited this resort for lunch before our trip on the Cog Railway. Then, after our trip we enjoyed an appetizer and drinks. The $600 price tag for a room was drastically out of our price range! It's a beautiful hotel and we enjoyed lunch and appetizer/drinks later. We had lunch in the basement...outside. And then an appetizer and drinks on the back porch in nice relaxing lawn furniture facing Mt Washington. The food was good and our wine was nicely chilled. The view was amazing!

Yelp
The view is amazing...but... The hotel guest experience was awful for a $500+ night hotel. I've had far superior experiences staying at a Marriott Residence Inn on the side of the highway. We stayed for two nights and had no housekeeping. Staff entered our room to drop off an anniversary bottle of champagne, yet didn't think to clear the dirty glassware and dishes from the same small table that they left the champagne bucket. There were no luggage carts when we arrived or anyone to help you unload. Again, this is a $500+ night hotel with the arrival experience of checking into a random AirBnb. We sat at the pool for two hours with every pool chair covered in used towels with no staff straightening up. The brand new pool bar had LITERALLY 5 bottles of liqueur and a bartender who didn't know how to make simple cocktails. There were two bags of wine (which had clearly been removed from the inside of boxed wine) on the counter and a beer selection that didn't include Corona. The roof top bar closes at 9pm, which we missed the first night since we were eating dinner. On Saturday night we changed our dinner reservation to 5:30 so that we'd have time to enjoy the rooftop bar before it closed. When we arrived at 7:30 they were packing up to close because they said no one was there. But we had watched a large wedding party up there all evening while we were at dinner that had left maybe 30 minutes before they decided to close early. They kept it open for us and within 5 minutes, 5 other couples arrived and all bar seats were filled. Why are you attempting to close a rooftop bar at 7:30 on a Saturday night when there are 5 weddings and a hotel almost at capacity? Also it was stocked only slightly better than the Poolside bar as they were not able to make many cocktails and had only two types of white wine. The original part of the hotel is in desperate need of an update. I love antique hotels. So I can look past a lot of "old home" issues, but I'd like to be able to take a shower without standing in water up to my ankles. On top of the guest experience issue, the food sucks. The Main Dining Room was corporate, out-of-the-Cisco-bag-plated-off-of-warming-trays type food. The Rosebrook Grille was better, but still meh. Food is important when the closest restaurant off the resort is 30 minutes away. These complaints might seem trivial, but when you charge such a premium for rooms and restaurants, the service level and food quality should be commensurate with that cost. It's easy to excuse it with "maybe they don't have enough staff" or "COVID" but almost all of our guest experience issues weren't because there wasn't someone to do what needed to be done, it was because they simply didn't do it. And all COVID restrictions have been lifted in the State. So I blame training, a lack of care about guest experience, and management. The only bright side was that while we were driving around the area we discovered the Sunset Hill Inn in Sugar Hill. I just got off the phone booking our next stay with them. After 5 minutes on the phone with this Inn, I can already tell it's going to be a much better guest experience (and it's half the price).

Yelp
While staying at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel we decided to eat at the top of the mountain at Switchback Grille. We were seated within 5 minutes, received water, napkins and silverware. Our order was taken 10 minutes later. Tables of 4 and 5 were around us. They came in after us and received their meals in no less than 15 minutes. We sat and sat waiting for our order. Mind you it was a sandwich that we were sharing!! We wanted 43 minutes, inquired and was told it was ready. A server brought it out. The French fries were cool. How can one sandwich be ready, placed on a ready to serve shelf and no server has sense to bring it to the table!? No one even tried to apologize. The restaurant had a shortage of servers and wait staff. Table cleaners cleaned the table of dishes the wiped the tables letting crumbs fall to the carpet with no intention of picking them up. How about wiping the crumbs onto a dish, into a napkin then move all to the kitchen? This was an experience that exposed the hotel's food service dept at its worst. Omni has done its clients best guest experience in their hands and today our experience was squashed!

Yelp
Pros: This is a very beautiful establishment! Rich with history and quite a few things to do on the property as well. My husband and I had a date night here while visiting family and we were very impressed with the ambiance in the main dining room. We got sat at a huge booth with one of the best views. My husband ordered the Maple Manhattan and I got the Pamona. Both were delicious. I don't even like Manhattan's and I found his drink to actually be very balanced and good. Maybe it was because of the maple syrup? We ordered the Caesar salad to split and it was very delicious with the poached egg, yum. Highly recommend that and THE BURGER! That thing was better than my beef dish. Kind of wish I ordered a burger too. It was the tastiest burger I've ever had at a restaurant to say the least. Overall we had an amazing time. Our waiter, I wish I remembered his name was super attentive and even let me try three different wines before I made my choice. That's top notch service! He was a slim, fair skinned male with tattoos. When we return, we'll be searching for this man again! Cons: We ordered the cold shrimp appetizer and it came out warm. The taste was good but the warmth of the dish really threw us off. We wished they would've put the sauce on the side and delivered the cold shrimp like most establishments do, which is over ice. Overall we loved it and would return again!

Yelp
Just pulling up to this beautiful buildings makes me smile. Top notch service and accommodations. The presidential wing is gorgeous.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming to this resort for the past three years anytime we are able to unplug for a few days. It goes almost without saying that the views surrounding it and the hotel itself are iconic but the staff that works throughout here are what make it a very special place. Although it's a large hotel it has a boutique feel to it because of the longevity of much of its staff creating a personalized family type feel From bellhops (Ben and Nick a special shout out) who have each been here for 14 years to the incredible waitstaff at Stickney's (Javar, Vonda, Bernice , Mike ) who are friendly ,accommodating, fun and like old friends you are always happy to see, to the staff at the ethereal spa (Monica, Joey , Anja, Olivia, Bailey, Casey, Alec, Juliana, Shauna ) the eucalyptus steam room is breathtaking literally I could go on and on about the breakfast in Main Dinning room (special shout out to Ervy and Marinette) which is also one of the most beautifully decorated rooms in this historic hotel and the feeling of swimming in the out door heated pool with its turquoise waters glistening against the snow capped mountains and settling in at night sitting out on our room's balconies and just feeling away from everything. It's has become our favorite home away from home and I can't recommend it enough Stormy and Edziu Sentkowski

Victor A.

Yelp
Having stayed here 4 times before our September 2022 visit, this is a shell of a place that it used to be. No coffee delivered to your room, mo daily activities, no flowers hanging all around the hotel, no valet, no Bellman helping with luggage, forget trying to call for food at night because no one answers, and why on earth would they allow construction to start up at 7 AM. They also lost the Bellman in the elevator controlling the old controls which was so nostalgic. They also did away with the free ice cream bike that would go around the pool area. But sadly, they're charging even more per room; $400 to over $1000. You leave here like you've been taken advantage of. So I try to do the right thing and provide feedback directly on the Omni hotels website only to find that the Omni Mount Washington hotel is grayed out -see screenshot. That says it all for me. If you want to spend this kind of money and feel like the experience is worth it, then go somewhere else!

Yelp
I wish I could give it a zero PEED on bed linens. I went to sleep thought I was crazy smelling urine. Then woke looked under the sheet and onto the mattress cover and BAM pee everywhere! So gross I puked, literally, then showered, then complained. They sent housekeeping to change the sheets. Our safe was broken so I had to carry our belongings with me while I waited. Then I called guest services no luck. Concierge and told them then they said we will call you 'immediately'. Then nothing. So I head over on day two and say what's up-the best I can do is a comp of $400 then come tomorrow and I will talk to my boss to see what else. I wanted a room comp of 1 day for the day I slept and smelled some strangers pee!!! Which gave me a nice runny nose for the day! No apology can make up for something that unsanitary. I didn't ask for a room change or anything-just wanted my night of hell comp'ed. anyways attached pics. One has the hotel room in the background for reference. Thanks but no thanks Omni.

Yelp
Absolutely awful service this was our take out from Stickneys last night. You pay so much to stay here and this is your room service

Yelp
When I was in college I was a front desk manager of a Best Western for a few years. It may not have been the best hotel out there. But I took pride in my duties assigned to me. I come up at least once a year. I personally think you guys can not properly staff the hotel for the amount of customers you have. Anthony from Hotel Impossible should come whip you all into shape. When I checked in and found crumbs, dust, broken shades and human waste stains in the porcelain throne. When I called to complain about the state of the room the girl told me "Ohhh no I'm sorry, I will have that taken care of tomorrow" Now as my former college job as hotelier what I would have done is apologized, went directly to the floors cleaning closet. Grabbed a house keeping cart, immediately cleaned the room, give the guest a room comp or upgrade for the evening or given them a free dinner comp. Completely 100% unacceptable. What makes it better is the fact that my room was almost $1000 a night and it was also around 4pm on a weekday that I called down to complain. I complained again the following morning. By this time I cleaned up my room. I was told that I could not be upgraded and that house keeping were really busy. It was upsetting. I was never followed up with or anything. At every other Omni property if something is wrong they take care of you. They make the problem go away. However at this property you get that robot script. You know they do not care. You are just a walking atm to this place. If you say "i'm never coming back here" they do not care. The paint is peeling, the woods rotting, the rooms in the original part are disgusting. Obviously the pandemic did some damage to this place. Omni obviously does not care. Pretty much I have gotten better service and cleaner rooms at hotels that cost 15% of what a room costs here. If anyone who works here is reading this clean the rooms! Clean the poo stains out of the toilets'. No one wants to see that. Especially if i'm spending a mortgage payment a night here. At least the breakfast and skiing are great!

Yelp
What a wonderful weekend getaway right after thanksgiving. The staff was beyond helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The room was cozy, but felt large with the vaulted ceilings. We enjoyed the outdoor and indoor pool. All dining venues and even the speakeasy bar! Thank you for a wonderful visit, can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Gorgeous. We didn't stay here, we attended a wedding here and dined with the wedding party and guests afterwards. This place will stick in my mind forever as having the most amazing views. We looked at staying here, but found the $600/night price tag for the only rooms left to be too steep for our budget. But, it was peek leaf season and we tried late in the game. I think there are more reasonable rates for those who plan ahead. The people who worked here were friendly. The building is in great shape. The views are worth the trip. I did find it confusing on sitting on the veranda. It seems people are standing and stalking waiting for someone to get up so they can snag a seat. Then some people were eating, but we sat down for a long time without anyone coming to ask us if we wanted anything or to buss the dirty dishes away. If we were suppose to have been seated by a host, it was not clear. We didn't want anything anyway, but it was just not clear what the process was. In the courtyard, there were fires to sit by, cornhole to play and lots of room to take a walk. It was a fun trip, and it was a great place for our friends to get married.

Mary Ellen T.

Yelp
This hotel is located in the beautiful area in New Hampshire. It has an incredible 18 hole golf course that was wonderful to play and enjoy. The hotel is magnificent but it is in various stages of renovation. Some of it feels very old and in need of a facelift and some feels new. The service was good. The food was also solid. The spa was beautiful and the service incredible. The only problem was with the facial and massage therapist. They were very nice, the facial was completed by a young women who just completed school, I had asked for a deep tissue massage but did not get one. I think they should take deep tissue massage off the list because this was the best a light Swedish massage.my husband had same experience that day. I can't imagine service when it is full. It has only two restaurants and a coffee to go shop downstairs. It must be crazy eating there and busy. There is no grocery store for 11 miles so families be warned. Overall ok place

Yelp
I reserved a luxury room (which was nice), but I was greatly disappointed as the room was advertised as Mountain View. Which was important to my GF and I as we like the mountains and just stayed in Lake Placid with a beautiful view of Whiteface. But apparently the "Mount Washington Hotel" thinks that the hill across the front parking lot and road is the "Mountain View", not the Mount Washington range on the backside of the hotel. To me, the "Mount Washington Hotel" is about MOUNT WASHINGTON"!! So if you book a room, and some are listed with Balcony, some sleeps x amount, and the couple that have Mountain View; don't pick Mountain View. Call direct and make sure they give you a room facing Mount Washington rather than relying on false advertising

Yelp
If you are planning a big event here, like a wedding, be sure to check out the pricing before you commit. You may be surprised. Beautiful setting, historic value, could use a thorough cleaning.

Yelp
It was very disappointing to see this incredible property mismanaged by Omni such that it met few of our expectations. To be clear, the building and grounds are unparalleled in stately beauty and fine architecture. The history of the building is amazing, and we were thrilled to be here. But compared to other fine hotels at half the cost (such as the Chateau Montebello we visited on the same trip) the Omni management has missed the mark. There is no one to greet you at the doors or handle bags. The front desk staff was pleasant, but not knowledgeable about the hotel because they are loaners from other properties. There was only one small bar open, resulting in a 30 minute line to order a drink and another 30 minutes if you wanted a snack. The wait for a seat was much longer. There was no staff on the floor cleaning, resulting in trash on the floor and dish stand overflowing with debris and dishes. Tables in the public areas went unwashed, even with this being a pandemic. The rooms are quite small. One of our rooms lacked hotel robes and slippers. There were no extra pillows or blankets in any either room. Please Omni, for $700/night you should be able to make this grand hotel into the experience it deserves to be. Just look at the pictures on the walls and make it like that again.

John R.

Yelp
$700/night. Room looks like it did in 1900 when the place was built. Double bed? WTF. 19" TV on the wall on the side of the bed. Food was okay, not worth the money. No valet parking and if it's raining you're going to get wet as the parking lot is a few minutes from the front door. Stay away.
