6 Festive Holiday Pop-Ups to Check Out in New Orleans This Year | Eater New Orleans

"The hotel's Promenade Room has been transformed with neon signs, kitschy Christmas Story–inspired leg lamps, tinsel, baubles, and more. A 12-cocktail menu (including two nonalcoholic options) was crafted by Julie Reiner, co-founder of New York City bars Clover Club, Milady’s, and Leyenda and a judge on Netflix's Drink Masters; cocktails are topped with garnishes like gingerbread cookies, toasted “snow,” and holiday-cocktail umbrellas. The installation runs now through December 30." - Clair Lorell

While the rooms are a bit dated (that’s ok, they are remodeling the hotel so I look forward to seeing the upgrades), the location of the hotel is perfect. A block away from Bourbon, and 5 min walk from Jackson Square… simply perfect. Now service was on point from check in staff to housekeeping and bell staff… very polite and attentive…. One person stands above all in service and that is Will, the bartender… from interacting with us to providing history and sharing some tricks and showcasing his knowledge on beverages, he made our stay even better… his drink, the “Road to Louisiana” was just the perfect way to end our vacation. My girlfriend and I will definitely be back! Thank you for everything!

The rooms were okay, the location is pretty great in the middle of the French Quarter - though there is a lot of construction.Best part of this place is the new music venue where my wife and I were glad to get away from the Frenchmen/Bourbon scene and relax to some really talented musicians. We caught Or and his band twice during our visit and it was just what we needed to escape the loud, in your face scene of Nola (which we also enjoyed but weren't looking for at our hotel). We also stayed for Glenn and his band and that was nice but we had been out all day and were enjoying something less in our face (though both bands had great musicians on them!)

Google
First and foremost, the staff - kindest, sweetest, friendliest and most thoughtful staff I have ever encountered. Truly made my stay unforgettable. The hotel itself is beautiful. Even during remodel renovations, it’s a very pretty property with everything you need to feel taken care of. The Rib Room restaurant and bar are delicious, with tons of options and seating inside and outside the bar. You can walk to everything from this hotel. The location is ideal. But again, Omni has dialed in the customer service and hired genuine staff that make you feel like part of the family.

Google
Excellent staff from front to back! Their people is thir best asset! Really great location near Bourbon, shopping on Royal and historical everywhere! The room /bathroom has been updated. Very spacious and comfortable. The only downside at the hotel was massive modifications going on. Pool, lobby, elevators, second floor...construction.

Do not stay here until they fix their service issues. I have previously enjoyed this hotel for its location and quality. Not this time. Our room was not serviced for 3 days despite numerous requests. When I asked for towels - it took 45 minutes to arrive. We asked for extra hangers on our first day and they never arrived, event asking two more times. Had a package delivered to the hotel and they did not manage it for 2 days until I asked a security person to investigate. They should have let guests know in advance that the pool and deck were closed for servicing. This place is having a problem with staffing and management. I have worked as a houseman in a hotel - this is not how any hotel should be managed. Speaking of management. When I worked in a hotel, at end of day a supervisor surveyed the rooms to ensure they were well serviced. Evidently, they do not do this here. Go to the Monteleone as an alternative place to stay. I will next time I am in nola.

Google
Website is deceiving. When researching the hotel looks lovelier. We enjoy staying in historical places, and expect things to be less than pristine. But, we were so disappointed, especially for the price! Run down, cramped, old furniture, sticky doors, balcony beat up and needs some major refurbishing. Learned our lesson: never stay in a hotel that is undergoing renovations! The bathroom was tiny and Motel 6-ish, Also heat/AC didn't function AT ALL! Luckily the weather was nice that week, but no one came up to our room to fix/check for the entire 3 nights we stayed. We are the kind of travelers that generally "roll with it', but so many things made for a less than satisfying stay. LOVED the city though!

Google
The hotel is in a great location, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The property itself is beautiful. However, we specifically booked this hotel knowing it would be around 80 degrees and because it advertised a fitness center and a pool—both of which were under construction during our stay. Unfortunately, there was no notice or update on the website to indicate that these amenities were unavailable. This resulted in us having to find gyms and other options off-site when we expected to use the hotel’s facilities. Additionally, only one elevator was working the entire time. We stayed during Christmas weekend with multiple wedding parties in the hotel, so it was very crowded. Being on a higher floor meant frequently carrying luggage and belongings up and down the stairs, which were also being used by staff. While the hotel itself is lovely and the staff were kind, the lack of transparency about amenities and the elevator situation really put a damper on our stay. Clear communication on the website would have made a big difference.

January 2026 Update Hotel General Manager reached out to me and I appreciate the fact that they do take reviews seriously. I hope that the hotel remodeling will take care of physical issues of bad beds, pillows, plumbing, and old tvs, however staff issues with bellmen not being outside to greet guests and carry luggage and open doors for guests must be addressed and fixed. ——————— December 2025 Post It is a sad day when my wife and I have decided that our December Christmas stay will be the last one at our previously favorite hotel- Omni Royal. We just cancelled our Feb 18-22, 2026 reservation and opted instead to stay at the Hilton Roosevelt Hotel. Although we greatly appreciated Julie upgrading us to a Junior Suite the room and overall hotel common areas are worn down and dirty. The couch in our suite (#605) was filthy as was the carpet, a light was not working over the bathroom sink, the faucet was loose in our bathroom and the bed was uncomfortable and the the pillows beyond description- old and flat. The TV was a very old antiquated Panasonic TV. Evidently Omni is holding on to past years when guests had to purchase in-room movies instead of all other hotel chains, like the Marriott, that automatically comes up and is on the remote so a guest can log into their own Netflix account to watch a movie. I observed over 6 days your bellmen stay in the lobby so guest are forced to lug their suitcases up the entry staircase. One morning one of your bellmen rudely stated to a guest, "Your dragging up your suitcase (it had roller wheels) and ruining my carpet!" Then he asked if they needed assistance. The guests declined. How rude! Another morning a bellman was exiting the luggage room and was speaking to another bellman about something that he was very angry about. He went down the staircase by the elevator and slammed the door as he stormed out of the hotel. On our last day the middle elevator broke and only one elevator was working. The 3rd elevator had trash on the floor that took 2 days for someone to pick up. The Rib Room food has also gone downhill since a year ago. Based on all these factors, I'm afraid we will not be returning to the New Orleans Omni Hotel. It was our favorite hotel for over 25 years! Hon. K. Madison

Yelp
While in New Orleans we decided to be adventurous and stay an extra day. We made reservations at the Omni and the front desk was kind enough to hold our luggage since we arrived about an hour early. They were kind enough to text once our room was available. Everything from the view to friendly staff was perfect. We were tired and decided to order a little room service. They took care of us not only did they provide excellent service but our meals were perfect. Even the drinks were nice and cold. I ordered a club sandwich and it was perfect exactly what I needed that evening. Delivery didnt take long at all. The bed and pillows were perfect enjoyed everything. Thank you so much. *This review is for our stay in January 2025

Yelp
Expedia has this hotel listed as a 4 star hotel. I shudder to think what a 3 star hotel is! Got a room with a balcony and it was pretty disgusting. Peeling wallpaper, gross shower, and pretty sure there was black mold growing on the ceiling. None of the plugs worked and our lamp shades were all broken. Ok front desk, but avoid the bar. Slow and rude service. Had a bartender ask me to move some chairs around for him and a women hostess for Saturday brunch (11/2/24) tell me the the staff was too busy to answer my question of if they do take away in a super condescending tone. Told me to go to a coffee shop! Great bell desk, concierge, and doorman.

Yelp
The location is very convenient, but the rooms are the smallest I have ever seen with no modern amenities. I had barely 2 feet around the bed on all sides, and the TV is mounted on the wall because there is no room for a dresser. I am a small person, but this room is too uncomfortable to even move around in. Update: I was moved to another room which is more in keeping with a standard hotel room elsewhere. Still in need of an update, but much less cramped. I recommend making sure you don't end up in the "Petite Queen" or "Executive Queen".

Yelp
Omni should be your first choice when looking for a hotel in New Orleans. It is located directly in the French Quarter which makes for a convenient location to many of the local businesses and entertainment. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful, especially if you are new to New Orleans. The hotel is well kept, and the rooms (including the bathrooms) are neat and clean. This was our second stay at Omni, and I found the accommodations better than the other hotels that we have stayed at in New Orleans. The Petite Rooms are indeed petite, so you may want to consider booking the Deluxe Rooms or up. The hotel has a (seasonal) rooftop pool & bar as well as a fitness center. Additionally, you can dine in and have a drink at the Rib Room and/or bar. Omni is a classic hotel with a prime location if your goal is to remain mostly in the quarter; however, it is pretty easy to get an Uber directly outside the hotel.

J G.

Yelp
I had an excellent experience booking with Omni Royal Orleans directly. I was traveling with elderly family and needed a specific set up and had a lot of questions about how best to plan a trip when the group has limited mobility. Julie helped us get perfect accommodations and made time to answer all of my questions. She had great recommendations for things to do around town. It was a huge relief to have someone so responsive and who went out of her way to make this trip so special for us. Thank you Omni and Julie!

Yelp
We have been here a week over Christmas and there is no heat in the entire building. Our room is a fridge. There was no heat when we checked in and they never told us. Trying to find a new hotel on Christmas Eve is hard. It's our last visit to an Omni property. They seem to not be working on getting hotel room to a temperature over 50.

Yelp
Bumping up a star for the staff, after the Easter madness died down. Once things were calm again, staff were welcoming & friendly at each encounter. I went to the desk the day before check out to see if they could accommodate a late check out, as our flight wouldn't be departing til 5pm now, it was previously at 130pm. We were just hoping to be able to go eat breakfast then come back to the room & freshen up before roaming the streets until our departure... with a bit of shuffling, they offered us the room til 3pm & declined to charge us a late check-out fee. I greatly appreciated that. The location remains ideal for being able to go either direction by foot & we were able to walk to everything. Granted, we put in 25k steps on average daily, but we needed to walk off the food. 8 min to the Sazerac House Tons of dining starting within a few steps We even did the 1hr walk to Saffron - took 2hrs to waddle back tho... The style of the property is true to the era/location. Outlets remained our biggest problem- with about 20% non-functional & very to start with, as well as awkward positioning. Plumbing worked well and the water was HOT. Room service was punctual and orders were always accurate. The property is larger than it appears, with inside rooms overlooking the Courtyard/ Courtyard walk-outs. These rooms are quiet, and the Courtyard is not party central as I'd envisioned. I'd definitely be ok booking a walkout Courtyard room. There our some balcony rooms on the outward faciling rooms. These could be to be noisier, based on street activity at the time. Note: I'm sure that, to some, some of what I mentioned seems incredibly petty and entitled. That may be so, however, these added ammenities are a big part of our the reason we elect to hit a 30 night minimum either Omni each year. Our fulfillment, comes with guarantees. If you had a credit card that earned 5% back with each use, so you used it over other cards, but they decided not to give you that 5% back, well, it would be irritating.

Yelp
The Mrs. and I spent four nights at the Omni Royal Orleans. We arrived on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 26th. Michelle checked us in and let us know that our room wasn't yet so we had the Bellman hold our luggage while we explored the area. Shortly after 2 p.m. I received a text that our room was ready. We were assigned room 503. Which is a petite queen room and petite it was. Almost miniature. We've stayed in rooms on cruise ships bigger than 503. I have to say it was maybe 200 square feet. We were literally bumping into the wall walking through the door. The bathroom did not have any counter space so it was a balancing act as far as where we put our toiletries. We ended up spending one night in room 503 because we woke up to a rattling door which opened up into a rattling hallway. Not kidding. So the Mrs. asked me to work my magic and see about an upgrade. I went downstairs and spoke to Sardoz at the front desk. I asked about upgrading to a king room and he let me know it would be an additional $61 a night. I returned and told the Mrs. She called the front desk and asked if the rattling in the door could be fixed. Shortly after she ended her call, Sardoz called and offered a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe queen room. We were then moved to room 253. A much larger and more comfortable room. Abra cadabra! Poof! Once again, the magic of kindness and treating people with respect worked. Hposekeeping is offered daily but our room was never touched during out entire stay. It was a bit frustrating when housekeeping knocked on our door at 4:30 p.m. asking if we needed anything. I don't know if it was a staffing issue or if staff was on NOLA time but I've never stayed in a hotel that did housekeeping very late in the day. We didn't dine at the Rib Room which is the hotel restaurant, however; I did have a drink at the bar. Drink prices were very reasonable considering the area and hotel brand. The bartenders were friendly and talkative. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. You can't beat the location. The Omni sits on St. Louis Street between Charters and Royal. Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde is less than two blocks behind the hotel and Bourbon Street is on block over. You are within walking distance of many really good restaurants an entertainment venues. At night, the entire area glows with the flickering magic of gas lamps and the sound of music. Although, the Mrs. and I could hear this Calliope music that made us VERY uncomfortable. It could be heard all over the city and we could never figure out where it was coming from. We heard it at random times during the day and night. Getting to and from the airport was easy. DO NOT take Uber or Lyft from the airport. When you walk out of the terminal, take a right and you'll see a taxi stand. Taxi fare to and from the airport into New Orleans is a flat $36 for two passengers. I believe it is another $10 of $15 for each additional passenger. Needless to say, you don't get smacked with surge pricing depending on the time of day you leave. And now, a brief history of the Omni Royal Orleans. The Omni Royal Orleans made its debut in 1960 as the Royal Orleans and is listed with the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the Historic Hotels of America. The hotel itself has lineage going back the early 19th century, when New Orleans was rapidly becoming one of the nation's most important ports. Thousands of merchants moved their products into the city, given its prime location at the mouth of the Mississippi River. Steamboats and sailing ships docked in New Orleans' bustling wharfs, delivering goods like sugarcane and cotton. Not all commerce was good, as the New Orleans community was also deeply invested in the national slave trade. Dozens of auction houses operated within the city that saw the distribution of slaves throughout the American South. Among the places where slave trading occurred regularly was at The City Exchange, which stood where the Omni is, where many slaves were auctioned off to prospective buyers every week. This operation fortunately shutdown in the early 1830s, when aspiring hotelier James Hewlett decided to use the location for the site of a grand hotel.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in New Orleans at this lovely property. We decided to upgrade our room to a balcony on Royal Street and are so glad we did. It was wonderful to hang out and people watch and even listen to music. It wasn't nearly as loud as we thought it would be as it is one block south of Bourbon Street. The hotel is in a lovely location, and right in the heart of all things in the French Quarter. The bed was one of the most comfortable. I have slept in in a hotel in a long time. Be warned that the plugs by the bedside on the tables are loose and your plugs do not stay secure and your devices wont' charge. Bummer. I had a long charging cord and was able to use the wall far from the bed; I got lucky. Others will find themselves in a predicament. The bathroom could use a little updating as it was somewhat worn. However, I would definitely stay at this property again. The service was exceptional.

Yelp
Perfect location for French Quarter. Far enough off Bourbon street but still in the thick of things Upsides: We had a room with balcony, highly recommend! Great for people watching and seeing the many second lines that passed through over the weekend. Hot water was hot and fast! Plenty of towels etc. Staff was amazing, friendly, helpful the works. Downsides: The in room safe, first it's on a high shelf in the closet. We could barley reach it, secondly it was broken, twice and we needed maintenance to come fix it. There are power outlets in the tables by the bed but they are too loose and the plugs wouldn't stay in so our phones could charge. Furniture could use an upgrade. Not enough drawer space. Fridge didn't keep anything cold enough. Will stay here again due to location and staff. Downside mostly inconveniences but do expect better from and Omni product.

Yelp
I've already done a Rib Room review - but will again highlight Kia's exceptional room service and attention to detail. She definitely made my birthday extra special. Joseph was also a hoot, in the bar - super friendly, professional and attentive. Our ladies group thought he was great! For the hotel - I've stayed here before. I absolutely LOVE the location, right in the Jackson square vicinity - just far enough away from Bourbon that you can faintly hear the shouting but close enough that it's a quick walk to the wild fun. There are always doormen and staff onsite, watching who comes in and out - felt very safe for the entirety of the trip. And they were always super sweet and held the door, loaded/unloaded our cars, etc (make sure you tip these gentlemen!) We didn't have a chiller in our tv center/dresser and when I asked nicely for one - we returned to our room to find a full mini fridge, which was a blessing to put our leftovers! I was SPOILED by this hotel for my 40th. I was always wished a happy bday, several treats and spirits delivered to my room, best service ever. And even though the little market closes at 8, it was never an issue for the front desk to open it to us upon late night returns and snacking. Our balcony overlooking St Louis and Royal was the highlight of it all - with excellent city views and sounds (someone always playing music on the corner). I was in heaven, just relaxing and taking it all in - in between traversing the city. I love the body products in the room - the tangerine lotion made my skin so smooth. My ONLY complaint was that there wasn't shampoo. I asked at least 4 housekeepers and no one had any. The room and bathroom was spacious (double bed with balcony) and clean. And the beds SO comfy. I hit the bed hard each night after lots of walking, eating and drinking a few. And I slept like a baby. I would suggest the staff look into cooling the gym, at the rooftop pool. It was so hot, stuffy and the water machine was great - but leaking water. I threw a towel down and put up the wet sign so no one slipped. The pool was wonderful. But we were disappointed that the bar wasn't open at all when we were there. People were always at the pool every day, so it would have been ideal for the bar to be open the same The room cost was steep - so it was nice to split the price with my close friend. If it had been a little lesser - I would have loved to have a private room with king and balcony all to myself for my 40th - but it was worth it. This hotel is wonderful and I had a fantastic stay. I was sad to check out and leave. Thank you for making my 40th such a memorable and lovely experience!

Yelp
It's a nice hotel with bar and restaurant cafe located in the center of the French Quarter right between royal and charters. Walking distance to all the French quarter and quint essential New Orleans. Older hotel Original designs and layout. Roof top pool and one of the best views up top of the French quarter views. Valet and parking garage great service from valet to front desk -

Yelp
I needed to cancel my reservations for the week between Christmas and New Years. They said it was a non cancellation reservation I called over three months before and they said no. They kept the full room charge. That is stealing. We will never stay at an Omni and neither should you

Yelp
This is a great old hotel right in the middle of the French Quarter and they have a lot of history here. The Omni Royal Orleans hotel started out as The Royal Orleans Hotel which completed construction and opened in 1960. The Omni Royal Orleans Hotel is located in the New Orleans French Quarter at 621 St. Louis Street. This location was previously The St. Louis Hotel which opened in 1843 where it compiled a notable history until it permanently closed in 1912 and then it was destroyed by a hurricane in 1915. Local legends indicate that The St. Louis Hotel was the birthplace of gumbo, the cocktail and even the legendary free lunch. The ballrooms of the St. Louis Hotel were also the center of New Orleans Mardi Gras celebrations before they were taken out on the streets in the contemporary style. The Royal Orleans used surviving pieces of the old St. Louis Hotel along with historic information about that historic hotel in building the contemporary Royal Orleans Hotel so that it closely resembles the noted St. Louis Hotel. Omni Hotels and Resorts acquired the lease to The Royal Orleans Hotel in 1986 and began operating the hotel as the "Omni Royal Orleans." The Omni Royal Orleans has 14,000 square feet of meeting & event space, 3 on-site bars, a heated pool, fitness center and 345 guest rooms & suites. To learn even more check out my video review below... My video review of the Omni Royal Orleans is here: https://youtu.be/oXrNQA6TI84

Yelp
I had to book here last minute and was able to get a reasonable room and quick check in. Loved my stay and loved the pool. The bar staff at the pool and restaurant were all friendly as well as the men at the front door. I felt safe staying alone the whole time. Just be cautious when booking from booking.com I got a room charge from them and from Omni. Such a pain... clarify at check in.

Yelp
We normally don't stay at hotels in the French Quarter, perferng the hotels outside the quarter. And my concerns were validated this past weekend. The front desk staff could not answer any questions, even about a famous restaurant just steps away! Our room was a very very long walk from elevator despite that she could see I was walking with a cane. The room was very small, furniture quite old, and bathroom was tiny. The AC was off when we got to our room (outside temp 97, feel like temp, over 100). Took hours to cool off the room, a handyman to look at AC was promised to come up in the hour, and never showed up. Lastly , as someone who is walking impaired, there are stairs everywhere, with very poor alternatives (such as elevators). I live very close to New Orleans, Tourists do yourself a favor (and money) and stay at the lovely hotels outside the French Quarter.

Yelp
Staff was amazing. Everyone who works here was on point. We had a balcony room that was pretty dated and definitely not worth the $500+ a night that we paid. The smell of weed in the hallway came into our room because the doors are high. Someone on our floor was hotboxing their room & must not have left the entire time. All of my clothes smelled like weed when we unpacked. It was pretty disappointing. Yes, I get it's the quarter- but it's not my thing & it affected our stay.

Yelp
If you read my reviews you know I rarely give 5 star reviews i like high end spots so I expect high end quality and service.First recommendation is to book direct. They will send you promo codes and you can text arrival info and preferences. We arrived at like 1030am. No way I thought our room would be ready. Well I booked the top corner room with 2 balconies and 2 bathrooms and they had the room ready upon arrival. Took maybe 15 minutes and we were off to breakfast. Service impeccable start to finish. 2 free drink tickets for any onsite bar. Every time we came back or called the desk we were greeted by name. Small fridge and there's a microwave downstairs across from the desk to warm all that delicious food leftovers. Room was cleaned daily after 12 at our request. The room was named the Tennessee Williams room with a book shelf with his books to read. Rooftop pool with dj and bar, lobby bar. We never made it.to the dinner restaurant. Pool is a bit small and limited on shady spots. But the location!!? Best of my 12 visits to NO and I hope to stay every single time. Can't think of a single complaint. Ask for the Tennessee Williams room. It was about $400/night but we actually made use of.the room and those balconies. And ladies... a bathroom to ourselves on vacation is pretty epic

Yelp
Pros - in the heart of the French Quarter. You don't need a car if you stay here. Friendly and responsive staff Cons - substandard rooms, tired facilities Booked the Omni this time because I thought that the Omni would come with some standards. Unfortunately not for this hotel. The rooms are tiny and the decor is very tired to be kind. I understand that the building is probably protected because of its age but you can still do stuff inside the rooms and interior whilst respecting the history of the building. Bathroom was so small the vanity had little to no room to put anything. The worst thing was that there was no ventilation in the bathroom which meant that condensation was literally dripping off the ceiling after you had your shower and everything in there was wet. I'm small and getting changed in the bathroom was a tight squeeze. Half the sockets in the room didn't work and that meant half the room was in darkness as the lights didn't work either. Might have to pick a hotel in the business district and Uber to the French quarter next time I visit.

David W.

Yelp
I thought that this was the prefect hotel for a New Orleans experience. The staff, which includes doormen, desk, housekeeping and definitely the concierge services, were outstanding. The location was really good for a lot of activities. The hotel provided a welcome change after walking the busy streets, especially the Rib Room and bar. Don't miss the rooftop pool or the view! You may, however, want to think twice if you need everything in the room to be in new working order - what's elegant charm to me might be an inconvenience to you.

Yelp
April 26,2024 -April 28,2024 Saturday morning someone walk in while I was getting dressed apparently the front desk was not aware room was taken already. Sunday morning apparently fire was going on and the alarm on the 6 floor did not come on only reason why I noticed had to take dog for walk elevator was not working took the stairs and that's when fire trucks where outside and alarms where on. They need to check fire alarms 6th floor Was not offered a late check out since we had to wait outside for while.

Yelp
Don't stay here if you want any sleep. This is a lovely hotel. However, from 7am onwards the staff are walking around slamming doors and having extremely loud conversations on their walkie talkies which they have turned up to full volume. You will hear it as if it is in your room. It is not a nice experience at all and they do it alottttt. Sometimes every few minutes.

Yelp
After staying at many Omni hotels, this one is surely the worst. The check in process was a nightmare. Our flights were cancelled so when we finally got in, the front desk had marked us as a no show, although we had communicated we would be checking in later than expected. Once we finally got to our rooms, my room had the crunchiest carpet. I couldn't even walk barefoot in the room it was so nasty. The first day there was no cleaning service in our room although they left us a plate of pralines for the mishap at check in. The second day, the cleaning service did come but when I came back to our room a woman was in my room saying she was a supervisor. The coffee machine in the room is not plugged in and the only way to do so is to put it on the floor to reach an outlet. The Omni is typically a very nice stay so I am more than disappointed by the service. The check in and front desk service was not receptive, apologetic or accommodating. They told us there was no valet, which was not true. The doorman was almost always on his phone when we walked by and I don't believe I saw one person bringing bags up. Each guest had to do it on their own. The valet was the best service in the building. If you are looking for an accommodating stay, I would not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Phylicia at the front desk was an absolute Sweetheart and happily gave me a short walkthrough of the property and even let me check out one of their pianos, but whoever the tall guy in the blue coat was needs to work on his hospitality and how to communicate with guests and staff. Showing disappointment and communicating with a tone with a guest, and staff is never appropriate when in company uniform. I didn't get his name but if he's in a position of leadership, he's doing a terrible job at it in the way he represents himself, the other staff. Phylicia, you rock and thank you for showing me the property.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for 4th of July weekend. It is one of the nicer hotels in the area, very old, but the location is just perfect! I love that the Omni Royal is around the corner from Cafe Beignet and Brennan's, talk about convenience! Like some other reviews, the overall service and what you get from this location is not the same as the other Omnis (meaning it is sub-par here). I think I read somewhere it was the St. Louis Hotel or something, so they took over and you can see that the hotel has history. I do love the architectures and the old gas lamps outside the corridor. It is a very nice and "royal" hotel, most of the ballrooms were empty on the weekend we stayed, you can just go and sit there if needed. They only have one restaurant, the Rib Room, a small coffee shop (press button coffee) located inside the convenient store across from the check-in desk. The pool and gym are on the 7th floor. Pool is small and there is no jacuzzi outside with the pool. The Observatory deck is on the same 7th floor, with additional stairs to go up. there were a few tables there but it is a very small deck. Service - This is a mixed... The morning to midday crew seemed to be a bit on the reluctant side to assist you. From mid-day to evening I thought the staff were much nicer. In the morning they also seemed to have only one person at the front helping everyone so it took forever for anything. Bell service was great though, everyone of them was super friendly. The concierge lady was friendly too and that was where we booked our tour due to some changes in our previously planned itinerary. Overall, would I stay here again? Maybe, but there is the Montelone nearby that I heard many good reviews so maybe we would try that if we come back to Nola. We booked the cheapest (Petite Queen) because I used points from my CC. We didnt plan to stay in the hotel room much so we did not care for the room. But, it is tiny and it IS tiny.. Although the bathroom was clean and remodeled and cleaned, so I was glad. All the stars I have for this hotel is the location and the evening staff.

Yelp
Classy hotel! Roof top pool. Great staff throughout. Great restaurant. Live music in the bar at night . awesome location. Some of the older rooms are on small side so opt for a suite if possible

Yelp
Location, location, location. This hotel is literally located right in the heart of Bourbon Street. The size of our room was not huge (we got the room with the queen bed), and though small, if you're looking for proximity, look no further than this place. Everything was walking distance - it was even right across the street from my favorite restaurant while I was there; The Napoleon House. They've got a nice rooftop pool too for your convenience. Some of the rooms have an outdoor patio on the second floor, which is great for people watching while you're there. The price of this hotel wasn't bad either considering the proximity to everything. It is a little bit older, but it still is great option for your hotel stay while in NOLA!

Yelp
From the moment of arrival, we were greeted by the warmest Valet (my apologies) for forgetting his name. Our Bell Man, so attentive and courteous. Our front desk attendant was so very kind, helpful and patient as we added on an extra evening to stay. Also the fact, of the little details "we are traveling with our three girls". The staff, added in milk, cookies and water for them. Uhhh, that just made me tear up. Such kindest, is never done these days. (Pandemic) has made the service industry JADED. I know, I'm in the hospitality industry myself. (These little details) is what sets the bar from mediocre to extraordinary. Omni Royal has done just that, price point. (I rather now) book through Omni then Expedia. Sandor, our front desk clerk was kind enough to mention the perks. Which we are so very grateful for, cause we are coming here EVERYTIME. We come to NOLA. Rooms are spacious and CLEAN, we have a balcony room. The attention to details, the stunning architect makes me wanna renew our 25 year vows here. That's a very high complement in my books. Omni Royal, thank you all for the wonderful experience. We will see ya'll back soon.

Yelp
Born and raised in New Orleans and I've never stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans... And it will be my choice going forward. It is a gorgeous hotel...

Yelp
Alfredo was so awesome!! He helped me out so much, he gave me some water when my friend was in need and was very kind!! True hospitality!!

Yelp
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The interior is beautiful and grand. Our room had a jetted bathtub that soothed our muscles each night after a full day of walking around the French Quarter. The location was perfect as well, right within walking distance to so many points of interest, but just far enough away from Bourbon Street to be a quiet oasis. But the absolute best part of our stay was the service. The bellman, the gentleman who checked us in, the valets, and even the lady in the little cafe were all so kind and welcoming. They have truly mastered the art of hospitality and made us feel so special. We will definitely be staying again if we ever make it back to New Orleans.

Yelp
Stayed a night here. It was walking distance to bourbon which was a big plus. Parking right at hotel another big plus. Clean hotel. Nice staff. Valet parking was convenient s well.

Yelp
I booked and prepaid for 4 nights. The day prior to the start of my booking I called the hotel and let them know that there was a change in plans and I would be arriving a day later. I was fully aware that i was responsible for paying for the 4 nights even though I would only be there 3 nights. i told them I was fine with this and not to cancel my reservation. the reservation desk put this note in my file. i drove 8 hours through very bad weather to the hotel arriving at 5pm with two senior citizens and a dog just to find out that the hotel had given away my reservation. they then told me that they had called me but I had " refused " to answer the phone. I didn't refuse to answer the phone. I could not answer the phone because I was driving. the front desk informed me that they had booked me at another hotel without my consent or permission because they were " overbooked " . I prepaid for this reservation 6 weeks prior to my arrival. This should never had happened. I am never staying at any omni hotel again.

Yelp
This used to be a premier hotel. Bellmen are not responsive. Can't drive up in front of the hotel and have your bags collected and your car parked. It's all self service now. What a shame- I've been coming here for 20 years. What a letdown. Even the workers here told me this hotel is going down to nothing. As if I couldn't tell!! It will be closed soon if this is how we are now!! Now, let's talk about the Rib Room Bar. There's a guy playing the piano who has no idea whatsoever what Motown is and an African American female singer who acts as if she has no idea either. Tonight I had a $500 tip from them but since they acted like they were too good for it and had no early idea what we were asking, they missed it. Looks like the inmates are running the asylum at the Omni Royal Orleans.

Yelp
Historic hotel located perfectly in the French Quarter. Great architecture, good food in the Rib Room restaurant, and delightful bellmen. Could use a bit of a refresh on painting and repairs, but all of the good reasons to stay there trump these issues. Watching several second line parades from our balcony was delightful. A parade of nude bicyclists passing by was an example of the crazy things you will see in the Quarter!

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend staying here. My room was about 400 for one night so I expected more than what we got. There computers crashed at some point before we arrived our reservation was lost which things happen I get it but we had to wait over an hour for them to make phone calls and figure it out. We finally get our room and our key doesn't work (which we could only have one for the both of us since the computers were down and they couldn't create new ones.) again onwards key no big deal but our key didn't work something with the battery in the door malfunctioning: they said they'd fix it which they didn't so every time we left the room we had to go to the front desk and have someone talk is up to our room to let us in. One time it took 45 minutes for someone to be available to let us in. I complained at the front desk and they could of cared less about the inconvenience oh and there was also only one towel in the room and we had to call down 3x before they brought us a second one. Definitely not worth the money

Yelp
The staff is amazing!! Other than that the hotel itself is average & overpriced. The room I booked was supposed to be a queen. It was NOT A QUEEN despite staff telling me what the computer says. And there is a small $100 hold per day you stay which can be a surprising additional $700 charge that you'll have to pay when checking in. For the price, it's not worth it.

Yelp
I like to stay a Omni hotels when on vacation in certain cities. First time at this location, I booked thru Booking instead of website, although we stayed at the other one located across the way. Fast forward, we check in, seems easy enough. As we walk away, we ask the young man (black male) do you offer wifi and he said to enter last name and room number and it will log you on. We do that and per the site it said it will be credited back at end of stay. Cool. We stayed 3 nights. And also did valet each of those nights. Valet is $44 a night with in and out entry. I have a list of negatives and if you read my reviews, I have to be pressed to mention them. And I am. 1. We got charged for wifi at the end of our stay. We stop by before leaving. The lady said it's for certain members. We advised this was not relayed to us (*otherwise the 4G/5G we have works just as well...that's me being factious for you all*) Ultimately, She removed them as a courtesy. Appreciative. Please advise the guy to stress this bc this was not communicated. 2. We had multiple outlets that did not work. We had to wiggle them or rig the cords to hold charge. They brought us an extension cord so we could plug across the room. (Ratchet) He even said "is it loose or seems like the plug is going to fall out the outlet?" ...Yes. So I assume you all are fully aware if he is. 3. There was 1 roll of tissue. I'm a woman...I'll leave that there. In addition, there is another guest in the room. Please leave an additional one somewhere, as 90% of hotels do so I don't have to call. 4. No trash bags. Please invest. It'll make it easier on everyone. Please refer to #3. 5. One of your elevators sounds like a hazard. It takes a 5 second count to open. I counted. I hate that. And I was looking for the elevator inspection certificate. Didn't see one. People care about stuff like that. With Buildings crumbling and the unknown it would be nice to see, visually, everything is up to date. 6. The fridge was not cold. At all. 7. The mattress sinks. I like service where I don't have to really ask for anything. It makes everything more seamless. This was not that. In regards to positives, the bell hop and valet guys were good. The location was great also. It was an easy check in minus the miscommunication and check out would have been easy peasy if we did not have to go over charges. Not sure I would stay at this location again.

Yelp
I am having a hard time collecting the words to describe the experience I had at this perfect establishment. When you walk to the front door we were greeted by Ricky (our friend by the end of the trip) and overtaken by the extravagance of the lobby. The history is perfectly captured from the art to the chandeliers to the carpets. We then proceeded to our reservation at the Rib Room to enjoy bottomless mimosas and tasty brunch. The elevator lobby is easy to locate as well as the rooms. Our room was spacious was quiet when we were sleeping. It's very close to Bourbon st so that worried us. The rooftop pool is fantastic with a full bar to quench our thirst. It is located by literally everything you want out of the French Quarter. We will definitely be returning. The management here is the image of what it takes to have a successful team.

Yelp
During our recent long weekend in New Orleans, I wanted to find a bar that was a bit different, a bit off the beaten track. Found out that the Omni has a rooftop bar/pool area and decided to check it out. We took the elevator to the top floor and discovered that there is a gate into the bar/pool area with card access for guests. However, the gate was ajar, and we quickly found our way to the bar. It was a gorgeous day and it was nice to be outside. We were in a covered area right next to the bar, and there were plenty of sofas, tables/chairs, and bar stools to choose from. We grabbed a table and waited for service. Unfortunately, there was just one server for the entire area, and she was slammed -- taking drink and food orders for everyone in the bar area and parked around the pool. It took a while to her to get to us -- maybe 15 minutes. She kept telling us she'd get to us as soon as she could, and eventually she did. We ordered a couple margaritas and left it at that. Just ok -- nothing to write home about. Given the slow service, we decided to cut our losses. We finished our drinks and moved on. Pro tip: Sit at the bar and order your drinks directly from the bartender.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel. As soon as we arrived out of our uber, someone was there to get our bags right away. He went to the Uber and pulled them out of the trunk for us. He walked us in and instructed us where to wait for check in. We checked in and were informed of all the hotel's services. The room is very clean (which I am big on). We paid extra for the room with a balcony and were pleasantly surprised that we did. Just look at that view in my photo! It completely changes the ambiance of the room to be able to step out onto the patio, have a bottle of wine, a beignet, and watch the sunset. The location is excellent. It's in walking distance to everything downtown, but not too close to bourbon street where the parties last all night long. We would definitely stay again. Tip: Call beforehand and make sure you book a room on the side facing Chartes street. We overheard it's a different experience if you're on the side closer to bourbon street (louder/not as great view).

Yelp
Great hotel overall. Room cleaning is good and they have a wide variety of different channels to watch. The bathrooms are amazing and the beds are great!

Jill D.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about the Omni Royal Orleans. Staff are courteous, sincere, and quick. Rooms are overpriced for the size and the look needs some updating. Bed is comfortable. Bathrooms especially need renovation--size is very small even for one person, and fixtures, caulking in the tub and shower show wear and age. I've never seen fine white buildup (calcium? soap?) on a hotel showerhead, for instance. I suspect the hotel vents also need a good cleaning because every time I walk in my room my sinuses become congested and I start sneezing. The sneezing does not abate until I leave the hotel again. Some of the lobby vents show some blackening so perhaps it's a mold issue with the vents. The location of the hotel is great. I don't know that I'll stay here again even for the location and the good service from staff.

Yelp
First time in NOLA, and I picked this location due to location. The location was perfect- in the French Quarter, close to the church and Cafe Du Monde. ;-) The bellmen that greets you upon arrival were super helpful, Jude was one that helped us from day one. THANK YOU, Jude! The bed was comfortable, and the room was roomy with more than enough space for the two of us. I only had four days in the city so I didn't have time to swim or hit the gym, but I did check out the rooftop pool, gym and the observation deck. Beautiful! We did A LOT of walking in this city, so we skipped the gym. There are haunted stories about the hotel which did creep me out a little, but nothing happened to us. Plus, what part of NOLA isn't haunted? I would stay at Omni Royal again next time I visit this city! Thank you Omni Royal for a wonderful NOLA experience!

Yelp
We stayed in the Tennessee Williams suite for my 60th birthday. The Omni gave us a complimentary cheese and fruit board for the occasion and the room was wonderful. Ive become spoiled when I visit NOLA in that I HAVE to get a room with a balcony. This room had 2. Plus, 2 full baths. What a luxury. The Rib Room restaurant had great food and service and the hotel staff were all friendly and professional. The only drawback to my trip was the heat...yikes. Thats not the hotel's fault though but I really didnt enjoy the balconies as much as I normally would, even at night, but...it's NOLA in June.

Yelp
Repetition is a big part of Yelp. You like something enough you'll continue to go back (hence dukedoms). Well, I don't think two visits three years apart constitutes anything close to even a "regular" status, but I guess that says something about Omni Royal Orleans. Ya see, my buddies and I traveled down to The Big Easy back in 2015 and stayed at this Omni with true loving (nothing weird) of the place. So when my family and I planned this recent trip, Omni Royal Orleans on St. Louis Street was numero uno on the hotel list. Rightfully so. Omni hotels have a level of class and attitude not seen at some other lesser hotel brand names. Now when those pieces work perfectly, we're talkin' an easy five stars. Unfortunately, we lost one in the process, but let's get to the other four first. Like I said, the classiness of Omni is prevalent especially when walking through their doors (usually held open by a bellhop). The lobby has an upper class southern charm while not being overly snooty in appearance. Once in the room, you'll find a lovely set up. Nothing technologically advanced, but respectably clean and well kept. Though if you're going to hang at the hotel, head to the seventh floor and see what really rocks this establishment. Who wants to go for a swim? Me! The pool on the roof, complete with bar, food, and an observation deck of the French Quarter is a piece worthy of your stay alone (that and it's amazing proximity to just about everything in the area). Okay, the star loss...we headed out our first morning and returned to our room around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. At that time we saw our room wasn't made up. There was a maid truck in the hallway so we kept leveled heads and went back out. At around 4, my padre returned to the hotel to see that things were still amiss. This warranted a call to the front desk and a quick visit as well. We were told things would be taken care of and not to worry. Post dinner, we popped into the hotel for a sec (remember, proximity to everything rocks) around 8:30 and still nothing had been done. I went down to the front desk and was told it would be taken care of right away because the desk clerk had just talked to the head of the maid service. Welp, that didn't happen. So at around 11:30 at night, with a dirty room still at hand, things were goin' down. The friendly man at the front desk severely apologized and hooked us up with a couple of $50 vouchers good anywhere in the hotel. I definitely appreciated this as it was a nice way to make up for the problem that occurred, but you won't get that final star, Omni. When you're blatantly lied to by an employee (multiple employees for that matter) then I can't condone five starlets. Nothing else went wrong the rest of the days and everyone else in the hotel was super friendly, but that one experience is worthy of mentioning and bringing things down to four. Overall, Omni Royal Orleans is still a really wonderful hotel. It's got such a great location with plenty of beauty, and (mostly) helpful employees that I would most surely stay here again. My first experience three years ago rocked, and this trip, beyond that blemish, was superb. So if you're looking to make your way to New Orleans, check in (a bunch of times perhaps) with Omni Royal Orleans.
