2 Dozen of Montreal’s Best Middle Eastern Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"A Plateau favourite, Omnivore prides itself on using local, hormone-free meats and fresh vegetables. The food is grilled over maple charcoal, yielding a barbecue taste evocative of outdoor summer meals. As the name implies, the menu is mixed, with both vegetarian and meat options — it’s especially famous for its salads." - Karin Murray-Bergquist

We went here with a group of 6. The people who work here are super friendly and accommodating, they had GF options and all the food was fresh and delicious. The large mixed omnivore plates are great to share with a group. The sweet potatoes with garlicy butter were warm and amazing and also great to split with the table. Their hummus is super creamy and their salads crunchy and fresh. Great spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any meal.

We went there because they had an event with cinema du musee for the lord of the ring movies. I think they weren't expecting a lot of clients because of the event because there were only 3 employees. I'm not blaming the employees because there was a big rush and they were only 3, but the restaurant owner should have planned better for this event. Everyone had to wait a long time for their meal. And when we got them, it wasn't worth the wait for the price we paid. I'm not blaming the staff for the service, they tried their best with not many options. I got the fish sandwich which was pretty thin and not filling for 13$. My friend got an herbivore plate which was just okay for him too. Overall, not the best experience we had.

My hard-to-feed family all agreed this is a winner. I'm a solid meat-eater, my wife is vegetarian, and son is fodmap-conscious. We all were able to find a delicious meal here. The only weakness in food is their thin, boring pita. Loved the decor. Unfortunately they do not have an accessible entrance. It is 4 steps down from the street level.

This is for the girl that answered the phone when I called and didn’t seem to care at ALL about my comments. Here is the photo of my husband’s plate that cost us over 30 dollars! Tiny pieces of chicken, a little rice and salad, and huge amounts of garlic sauce. Ridiculous. I called and the girl didn’t seem to care and brushed me off. Service 1/5.dont order from here

They accept reservations! I love how friendly the staff is. We went as a group of 7, and the food came after about ten minutes, we did not wait too long. The dishes about 20-22$ were bigger and filling, and everyone who got it gushed about the babaganoush, the shawarma was tender and if you’re super hungry, you can finish it! If not, splitting works too. I got the vegetarian wrap: cottage cheese, grilled veggies and pesto. It was one of the best wraps i have ever had, though quite small for 13$… bit quite worth it:) Another friend got a wrap with shawarma, too meaty and not enough veggies but it was as expected from the menu. Calm atmosphere, great lighting, perfect to catch up. Wraps are a little small, but very good!

I've visited multiple branches of the restaurant Omnivore, and I've consistently found that they offer high-quality, nutritious food options. This particular location was no exception. The food quality was excellent, the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and charming, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. The only drawback is that the prices are a bit on the higher side.

Amazing food and outstanding service! The variety of vegetarian options was impressive—we absolutely loved the herbivore and flexivore combos. The salads were fresh and delicious as well! It was our first visit to Omnivore, and Tiffany went above and beyond to make it an unforgettable experience. Thank you for such a fantastic time!

Yelp
Terrific little place! Friendly service, delicious food, large portions, good music playing in the background, and has a little bit of a dining space too. You can build your own plate and many of the options were vegan, including some desserts which is always rare.

Yelp
This place must be newer cause it's not yet on Yelp! It had been a little while since I last ate at Omnivore so I was pleasantly surprised to find that they'd opened other branches. This one on Mackay doesn't offer the kafta skewers which were really good and one of my favorite dishes. However, they have the Omnivore, Flexivore and Herbivore options. I ordered takeout and my order was good to go when I arrived. The boxes felt cold... Probably because of the salads. At home, I unwrapped the pitas and toasted one into a giant crispy chip. The other was eaten as a wrap. Not only are the plates a multitude of colors, the food is also a multitude of flavors. Omnivore chicken: the large grilled chicken chunks were cold but still good with the creamy garlic dip. Half the box was stuffed with the tangy fatouche salad with all sorts of veggies and garlicky toasted pita "croutons", there were 4 pickled turnips, giant dollops of hummus with a pocket of olive oil and sprinkled with summac melding into the garlic sauce nestled against the lentil rice. What's cool is that all the flavors blend together so it doesn't matter that the salad and sauces are touching. My only negative here is that the rice and lentils were still "crunchy" I prefer them cooked a little further. Flexivore beef: saucy seasoned beef was just lukewarm and also goes great with the garlic sauce. The dish is also loaded with salad and a side of lentil rice but the distinction here is that instead of pickled turnip, it's another pickle and purple cabbage. Another addition is the very smoky babaghanouj alongside the garlic sauce and hummus. Lastly, the orzo salad... We were too full to even get a spoonful but it'll keep for lunch the next day. I'll save the leftover lentil rice and cook it more the next day. If the food was warmer and the rice cooked through, I would've given 5 stars.
