Okay there are a lot of hater comments on here, and to clear things up, if you want great asian food, you have to disregard good service being a thing.
I mean c'mon, first day in Orange County or something?!?!?
Anyways onto to the review, they close on Mondays and open from 3PM to like 10PM every other day. If you go during dinner time ESPECIALLY on a weekend, guaranteed there's a 2 hour wait. (be warned).
However, the wait is worth it cause they sell one dish that is not sold anywhere else (trust me I looked). The dish you want to order is the spicy beef rib casserole, that's the menu name. It comes out as more of a beef stew type dish. The soup is spicy, sweet and salty, perfect blend. Their spicy gets quite spicy so I generally get mild. The beef that comes with is is very soft, best eaten with rice or noodles. TBH I cant recommend any other dish cause I always get that dish only and never tried anything else.
At the end of your meal save some meat on the side, and you can ask them to make kimchi fried rice right in front of you in your pot. After they finish put the meat into the fried rice and you have yourself a nice second meal. (I often end up togo'ing it cause its too much food)
If Ondal ever closes down, I might just have to considering offing myself, its that good.
P.S. Get mild beef rib casserole, small pot feeds 3 people, large feeds about 5. Be sure to let them know you want kimchi fried rice at the end of your meal.
