On the Rocks Bar

Although this place considers itself a dive bar and smoking is not allowed inside, it is still charming with reasonably priced drinks, pool, and even a galaga machine in the back, wow. They have chairs and tables outside for a quick smoke if you are civilized. Great decorations two large rooms must visit place.

Beer $6.00 Soft drinks $3.00 No food, relaxed atmosphere. Good, fast service, kind staff, efficient. Very lovely place, went there just to watch the Formula One race, we had it in the hotel but thought watching it at a bar could be interesting. They don't serve food, but a regular who comes to play chess brought some burritos with beans and wild hog sausage, gave some to myself and my partner who were complete strangers to him, very kind. The regulars were very friendly to us, and we were surprised that they put the race on at all since it's not particularly popular in the US. Overall, nice chill place with a kind and relaxed atmosphere. I will put some quick notes and prices at the start of my review for easy reading. Much nicer than any pub I've been to in the UK, personally anyway.

Fantastic experience! Here on vacation and my boyfriend and I love a good dive bar, and this place ticks all the boxes. Great bartender (MaryLou was amazing) great crowd, good prices, highly recommend to anyone. Especially people from out of town looking for a great local bar scene. 💕🍻

Came on holiday from england to north beach solo , this place was close to where I was staying and it is like my second home and family , from the moment I walked in the door I was made welcome by the owner lukas , the bartender tatiana and every local in there, spent almost every night in here made alot of friends and met alot of interesting characters, beer is cheap I was drinking modelo at $6 a bottle and shots of spirits about $9 . I can't recommend this place enough for a true local experience of north beach , karaoke, live music ,painting and other activities happen here on certain nights , this place will hold a special place in my heart ❤️ .

Came in, bartender let a man hover over my drink. Asked for a new one got charged. Didn’t bother to speak to us at all til it was tip time. Gross.

I love this kind of places!! So local! Beautiful decorated, very friendly bartenders in special (Daria), their prices are definitely for locals, $4 a beer, cannot beat it and they are open till 5am!! Also they are doing different kind of entertainments like karaoke on Fridays, poker on Thursdays... I will definitely come back there!!!

Since I leave near I would always see this place busy during the night times. So while waiting for our dinner reservation we figured to stop by and get some drinks. It is everything you can expect from a local dive bar, great prices, helpful bartender, pool table and a distinct odor that smells like a mixture of sweat, cigarettes and liquor. My favorite part was asking the bartender for a menu and she responded by simply saying "it's an open bar". That truly reminded me of the college bar I used to go to in Tallahassee, where most of the customers are regulars and you don't need a menu telling you what to drink. If you're looking to avoid the craziness and the inflated drink prices of South Beach then this place is a good alternative. You get to enjoy some affordable drinks at a chill spot near the beach, I definitely recommend trying it out!

This dive bar is full of locals who seem like they are regulars. Definitely an interesting crowd. The drinks were reasonably priced (only $8 per drink). I had a Moscow Mule and my boyfriend had a Tito's soda lime. The back area is trendy but was empty. There is a billiards table, several tvs, a large screen and Jenga. I'm sure it is a good spot to watch a sports game.

I checked out this place over the weekend, with a good friend of mine. It's fairly small, kinda divey but not too much, love the decor. Saturday night was pretty busy lots of people outside, They have a small area with a karaoke stage, A live band was playing. Bartender was very pleasant, service was good! Great place to hang out!

Yup a great dive bar... a refreshing honest bar... not a club... not a lounge... a bar with reasonably priced drinks. The ambiance... meh what are you talking about... it's appropriately dark with a cluttered collection of mismatched bar trinkets, Ms. PacMan, pool table and Santana playing overhead - a bit too loud. In short it's perfect.

On a good day it's a chill place to grab some cheap drinks (no food but there is plenty to eat close by) and hang with a good mix of locals and tourists. On a bad day, it reeks of a smell you just can't quite place and is full of cigarette smoke and loud, sloppy drunk folks. Thus is the life of a neighborhood dive bar, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My friend Haleigh P. and I were staying in North Beach for a few days, right around the corner from this dive bar and before we even arrived in Florida, we found it on Yelp, bookmarked it, and planned to spend our first night there. After a long day of traveling we were looking for a lowkey night, some drinks, and hopefully a few games of shooting pool. When we arrived, we were greeted with exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Yelp, for always steering us in the right direction! This dive was within walking distance of where we were staying, was open late even on a Monday, had cheap drinks, friendly bartender, fun locals, and even a few other visitors like ourselves. We had so much fun, we came back on our last night with the same friends we met on night one. If you enjoy dive bars and lowkey fun, this place is perfect for you.

The vibe is laid back with tons of interesting decor and the service is really good. The prices are good too (much lower than places nearby). They have large Jenga, a pool table, ms pac man and a jukebox- which all make for great entertainment. Such a cool place to hang out!

Local dive bar and hangout spot straying far away from the usual South Beach bullshit a few miles south. Very eclectic crowd ranging from the average biker boomers, wandering tourists, loyal locals & pretty women who are yet to straighten things out with their fathers. The head bartender Selene is a badass and so is Luka, the always friendly, humble and on-the-move Serbo-Croat owner. No food is served but there's plenty right around the corner you can bring back into the place and wash it down with $3 Rolling Rock or PBR tall boys. Can't go wrong, not in Miami Beach!

Google wasn't kidding when it described this place as a "local watering hole." It's a hole in the wall featuring tipsy loud locals spilling out into the street and terribly watered down drinks. But I really like the spot for its half bar/half dance club location, open people, and acceptable drink prices. Most cocktails are $8.

Go here if you love a good dive. Plenty of locals and the drinks are strong. Asked the bartender to make me her version of a Dirty Pickle Martini and it was great. If you don't like the smell of cigs or tobacco, don't come here. But if you aren't stuck up and like to play pool and meet new people, the atmosphere is friendly and there is always some old music playing. Place is apparently open until 5 am!!!

Not very warm and inviting to outsiders. Seems like if you aren't local or part of the in crowd you're forgotten and treated poorly by customers and staff.

The Only Dive in the Area In an area where there is basically nothing to do this bar does the trick. There is heavy smoke in here so keep that in mind, but if your looking for a dive bar to grab a good drink this place does the trick. Dive-Miami Beach-Nothing Else Around = Entertaining Thanks

This is the most classic dive bars actually won best dive bar about five or seven years it's been around forever when I want to elementary school in Miami Beach it was around. Great place to meet locals and the beach is min walk away so get wasted and go to the beach

Great local spot for those who just want to chill and not worry about getting all fancied up. The bartender who was elder man was tall and really made perfect for the establishment. Not sure if he was the owner but he sure was good bartender. The locals are friendly and just want to have a beer and forget about the work day. We went to all the trendy spots in Miami high end and local this was one of our fave pre gaming spot.

Great little neighborhood bar! Went down for an Atlanta Braves game and found this place near my hotel. Very quaint and the bartender was very friendly!

Ducked in to eyeball the joint over a coldy as I was strolling around the neighborhood and it was a fine time, here's why: * Locals crowd * Liberal pour * Right on a main street * History and personality inside * Expanding their footprint The place needs to be dusted, and some of the old, nasty, dark decor above the bar should be burned and refreshed but it is better than being some corporate facade. I know there are 47 reviews already posted, however I just had to post my overall opinion. I cannot tell you how I find this place every time I go, I just do. I usually find it after midnight. I always find parking right in-front of the business which means street parking is easily accessible, and feesabile. . This is one of those trendier dive bars. There is a jukebox; and if you're smart; you can download the "Touchtones" app, connect it to their jukebox; buy credits and totally dominate the jukebox the whole night, with stupid Whitney songs and Ariana Grande songs, and no one can stop you, and, no one can do anything about it, and you can sit at the end of the bar amused. Or, you can just randomly jam out because your song came on. There's a pool table as well,. Sometimes there's an angry loud big breasted local dominating the table who doesn't want any competition playing, (oh well). The bathrooms are cleaner than most of the other dive bars I have crawled into. I have met the owner, hes a tall Russian guy, and I have met 2 of the many bar ladies; their names are; Tefanie and Marcia. Everyone is friendly. The drinks are cheap, however; they have a $10 minimum for Debit or Credit cards. Overall if you can find this place then you should give it a go if you're in the area.

This place makes Zeke's look like a not-so bad date spot. It's not so much dirty as it is worn in. Hmmm... maybe there really isn't a difference. It's called a sports bar, because they've got 4 or 5 sets playing; but it's mostly just a local dive bar. Everyone is real friendly. If you're a girl, be prepared to be charmed by some 70 year old Salty Casanovas! I've seen it happen.

4 beers, one shot, $20, enough said! Seriously though, this place is awesome! Patrons are drunk and friendly, the bartender is smoking a ciggie through her c-section scar, seldom is heard a discouraging word and the beer goggles are cloudy all day.

Stopped into On The Rocks on a Thursday evening before heading to a nearby event. I do not believe they serve food, but it is not a place you would really want food from anyway. All I had was a beer before heading to dinner. Quality On The Rocks is a dive that has all the bar standards along with a few specialities. I just had a draft beer and it was exactly what you should be ordering. Watching the bartender it was nothing but whiskey rocks and beers. Quantity Nothing extraordinary about the pour of beer, but it had the correct amount of head and came out ice cold. Value Hard to tell if it was happy hour or if the drinks are just always very affordable. If I had to guess though, I would go with the latter. Ambiance On The Rocks is a small dive bar that is half a block off Collins Ave in North Beach. Although you may not be able to see the sign walking down the sidewalk, you can definitely follow the noise and the smokers to the dark and dingy bar, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. The bar is long, but very skinny, with the bar area taking up the majority of the space. They have stools along the bar and then more stools against the wall, but there is no way people could really sit on each side. Towards the back they have a pool table and also a jukebox machine that was a main attraction. The walls and ceilings are covered with a mix of random decorations, my favorite of which was some sort of Halloween demon decorated in a St. Patrick's outfit. They definitely made sure all holidays were represented. The music was surprising when I entered with modern rap, but it soon shifted to classic rock as could be predicted. Several televisions showed a bunch of sports network, but the televisions looked very outdated and were all sorts of random sizes. I will say despite the amount of people smoking inside I was surprised that it was not that smokey or stinky. Crowd It is not every bar that you walk in before it is even dark out and the majority of patrons should be cut off. However, not every bar opens at the crack of dawn. It was a very beach bum crowd where most people looked like they spent most of their day drinking on a boat. It was also a crowd of older regulars, at least one of which brought his toddler granddaughter along. If anything the crowd was too friendly, everyone having a bit too much fun for as early as it was. Service The bartender was pretty impressive because in addition to making sure every glass was filled, she was smoking, on the phone, and playing pool. Also, her mastery of the crowd was impressive as she was always a step ahead of the drunken patrons who were about to stumble out without paying. Parking There is sporadic street parking in the area along with a pretty good sized public lot just a block away. Free parking in the lot after 6pm is also a fantastic deal, unfortunately that may not work for the early morning drinkers, but they probably should not be driving anyway. Extra On The Rocks is a standard dive bar with some positives and some negatives. Good prices and the ability to avoid a cigarette smell while allowing inside smoking are pluses. Just know what you are walking into and keep your expectations in line. Worth it for a quick drink if in the area, but not really worth a trek.

This is definitely a dive bar but played some great hip hop music. No place to dance though. Bathroom was sketchy and the door wouldn't stay closed. You can wear whatever you would like as it's definitely a casual atmosphere. The drinks were decent and the bartenders were very friendly. They had sports up on the screens which was a plus for us. Not an ideal hangout for couples but good for a quick stop and drink.

It is exactly what it says a beach dive bar. They have decent priced drinks and there is always good music playing. Not a bad place to sit and have a few drinks. They also have pool darts and big jenga.

After going to On The Rocks for 25+ years, it is the original dive bar on Miami Brach. OTR is lots of fun alway filled with locals so you always know someone. Newbie's are welcomed with open arms. The bartenders are amazing and very attentive. Come on down grab a beer and meet new friends!

On the Rocks is one of those rare no-frills dive bars located right in the heart of North Beach. It's a narrow bar (where the bar takes up about half the entire space), and has a pool table in the rest of the space. (Although during our visit we learned that the bar acquired a small adjoining space and was modestly expanding. Much like a true dive bar, the place is decorated with an assortment of novelties and smelled a bit like an old cigarette. It also opens at 8AM - which is awesome for anyone wanting a morning drink without the responsibility of ordering brunch with it. Drink prices were excellent, the bartender was a seasoned pro, and our conversations were flowing. It's definitely a locals spot and a great way to beat the heat should you find yourself in the area. I'll definitely make sure to stop back in for a drink when I find myself back in the area.

Probably one of the most laid-back bars in Miami. Bartenders are amazing. And locals are even better.

When you're down on your luck and don't have much bucks.... On the Rocks When you're thinking of drinking and don't mind a place stinking... On the Rocks When you want to put a tear in your beer and sip vodka so clear.... On the Rocks When you need some hair of the dog or just get sloshed like a hog... On the Rocks I'm proud to call On The Rocks my neighborhood drinking hole. Of the memories I can recollect from this place, they've been mostly positive albeit somewhat cringeworthy. There was this one time when I tried to have a break dance battle with a nice gay gentleman who was clearly much better than me. Watch out for those quiet wallflowers who look all docile only to be looking for any excuse to smoke your ass on the dance floor. The Goose was flowing and I was winning that night no matter what. It just happened to be my friend and fellow Yelper's, Sharon W, birthday party. The birthday cake was a mostly accurate depiction of her favorite kitty cat companion, Wolfgang. Sadly, I grabbed a handful of "fur" (icing) and proceeded to bust a move on the dance floor, trying to dance with anything and everyone around me. There was cake all over me, my friends and other not-so-innocent bar patrons. I did not win the dance battle and have no idea how I found my way walking home. I woke up with icing in my hair. #duhwinning The bottom line is, the bartenders pour a stiff drink, the prices are right and the juke box is ON POINT. I can't tell you how surprised I was to see everything from honky tonk country to Rupaul's greatest hits on the menu. I love a place where you will see friendly faces, bar flies, sports fanatics, tourists and locals all canoodling and sharing life stories over stiff beverages. Come as you are, your wet bathing suit, sweat pants or best hootchie outfit will work just fine.

Truly a "cheers" bar- where everybody knowd ypur name! Al "dive" bar but anything from divy. Cheap drinks and great service! Annie who's the day bartender made me feel welcome that I stayed several hours and met great locals! It's a cute, quaint and decorative bar you can spend an hour looking at the decorations. They are expanding their business and I wish them the best! Will visit next time I'm out here.

Wow! What a surprise find on an impromptu trip. This place is great and has an indoor/outdoor feel with the front doors peeled open. We came to this spot knowing that we weren't planning on going out dancing but rather had some decent tunes playing via an app/dollar controlled jukebox. The service was the best with an amazing bartender who was willing to handle a bar full people and successfully so. A true diamond in the rough of north beach.

The name "On The Rocks" would have you believe that it is a reference to cocktail making but are you ever so wrong. It is most likely a reference to the crack rock you are on to have to become a regular of this place. On The Rocks redefines what most of us would consider a 'dive bar'. Imagine, if you will, a Well fare line and a Prison roster have sex. They then had a baby who once it grew up mated with a homeless shelter and produced a child. You then have the birth of On The Rocks. I am sure this bar could be a watering hole in the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Deliverance sequel. It brings dive-barrin' and loose moral fiber to a whole new echelon. With that being said, I've been here a handful of times. They only take cash and the drinks are cheaper than a one-legged prostitute in a house of ill repute full of leggy blondes. On the down side ( as if the aforementioned was a plus) you may need a hazmat suit upon entering as I am sure you can catch scurvy from the salty sea Capt sitting beside you. I should know whether or not scurvy is contagious as I am a nurse. Let's just say that scurvy is one of the many diseases that may be caught here. The jukebox is filled with an ear bleeding selection that includes many a Spanish tune. You can cut the smoke with a knife. Even the bartender smoke while pouring your drinks. Train wreck? Yes. But you can't take your eyes away from it. The cast of characters here looks like a police lineup. Oh, the tales they have to tell. When you leave, grab a scouring pad and some Ajax, maybe some bleach and scrub yourself clean. Maybe have a friend do it for you. You may need some pleasant company after an experience like this.

If you looked up the word dive bar in the dictionary this place would be right next to it. There's one bartender who cracks jokes as she smokes a cig and grabs drinks for patrons, this isn't a place to dress and impress leave your heels and dress at home. You'll walk out smelling like an ashtray and wondering who the hell that guy with no teeth grinning at you was but you'll also walk out buzzed and with a fat wallet. I love that I can walk to this place, I love that I can get 5 drinks and a shot for $25, and I actually love the people that hang out here. People are there to drink and maybe strike up a conversation which leads to some interesting meetings. Put aside your judgments and give this place a try , just don't forget the cash ;)
