Ondo - Review - The Waterfront - Jersey City - The Infatuation

"You could snag decent tickets to a Devils game for around $65. Or, you could go to Ondo, a Korean restaurant in Jersey City with a great prix fixe menu, and eat a very filling meal for the same price. It’s a great way to impress a date or some coworkers. There’s great value here—the five-course prix fixe, with things like raw fish, short ribs, and branzino, could easily cost another $30 and we wouldn’t blink an eye. It’s right on the Hudson, but located on the parking lot side of an apartment building, with dark windows and a pretty minimalist interior. But that’s OK, because the eye-catching plates—like a fluke hwe with doenjang or extra-crispy chicken gangjeong—are the reason you’re here. Come for a casual date night that feels more expensive than it is, or with a group of friends or coworkers—especially if you live near the waterfront—and get the soju flowing." - Will Hartman

All of the dishes were excellent, and I especially enjoyed the creative interpretation of tofu kimchi as a salad—it felt very fresh and unique. The staff were attentive and responded promptly, making the entire dinner experience highly satisfying. I’m already looking forward to planning our next gathering and revisiting soon.

This place was sooo good!! I’ve been wanting to try it and everything was delicious! I started with the oyster platter which had dill, scallion oil, white kimchi mignonette, and a yuzu chili vinaigrette then I ordered the tteokbokki which were soft and chewy and came with tint smoked kurobuta sausage. I also ordered the fried dumplings and they were perfectly crispy and juicy!!! To drink I had a seoul night highball & the korean pear. For dessert I had the best panacotta in my life and a tiramisu martini! The service was great, the food came out fast and it call came out to $100!! I will definitely be back :)

Many friends in Jersey City told me Ondo is their favorite restaurant. It is a modern, upscale korean restaurant located just next to the harborside. So I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. We loved Konban, so I had high hopes going into their sister restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. * Hwe Muchim $21 We accidentally started with a pretty spicy dish. It was a sashimi salad with salmon, tuna, fluke, and tobiko. It came dressed in a gochujang sauce that honestly was a bit overwhelming. We were expecting something lighter and more citrusy to let the sashimi shine, but the heat kind of stole the show. * Galbi Jjim $38 *** Literally everyone recommended this and I got the hype! It was braised beef short rib served with chestnut puree and korean omija dressing sauce. The portion was more generous than I thought (8 oz!!), and the tender meat melted in my mouth. *Bulgogi Cream Perilla Pasta $23 ** My top pick of the night. I love korean style perilla-based dishes, so this was right up my alley. The noodles were al dente, tossed in a creamy, nutty perilla sauce, and topped with a generous handful of fresh perilla leaves (which I LOVED). There was a surprisingly good portion of bulgogi mixed in. *Bossam $27 It was served with a sweet garlic sauce that made the meat garlicky but still refreshing. However, the housemade kimchi was a miss for us. It lacked the depth we were hoping for. *Injeolmi Tart $14 * It was a mousse tart made with soybean powder, red bean cocoa puree, and a graham cracker base. It was huge irl but yes, we still cleaned the plate. *Yuzu Lemon Sorbet $9 Light, citrusy, and super refreshing, drizzled with a yuzu sauce that had real bits of yuzu peel.

Food was amazing! Super flavorful fun with very dish. Service was great, loved our server, forgot to catch his name. And the atmosphere is perfect for date night! Will definitely be coming back to try all the other dishes!

Google
Great night out spot to go to for some good Korean cuisine. We had the oysters which were super fresh, fired shrimp dumplings that were addictive for starters. The main courses were really tasty as well. The new item Dak Galbi was so good and a must try.

ONDO Jersey City offers a modern and cozy atmosphere with beautifully prepared dishes. The food is both traditional and creative, and the staff are friendly and attentive. recommended!

Google
Tapas style but for Korean food! I loved the hwe muchim & beef tartare. The hwe muchim was very refreshing & light. Beef tartare was fresh & the tapioca seaweed chips were so fun and crunchy. Other entrees we ordered were the truffle mushrooms rice, Korean army stew & the bossam. The bossam was cooked so well, and lined with a mild garlic paste. Kimchi was perfectly made, not overly sour/fermented. The army stew was delicious, seasoned well & had a bunch of fixings (sausage, ham, kimchi, tofu, mushroom & onion) - it was filling and comforting. Lastly, the tiramisu martini was sooooo good. A wonderful way to end the meal, it was wrong, but a perfect dessert drink!

Google
A great Korean restaurant with fantastic service. Would highly recommend their pasta with truffle which was a perfect fusion of Korean and Italian food. Cocktails are fantastic too with lots of soju or maekgolli based delicious drinks. Went with a group of 4 total, got 5 dishes to share along with a round of cocktails, came out to $250 total including tip so not a bad night at all in terms of cost. More of a tapas style menu, highly rec the kalbi Jim too.

Yelp
Wonderful Korean food! Everything I've tried there is presented beautifully and tastes excellent. I wish I could eat there all the time! It is a small but stylish space with fast service. We came with a party of 13 for an office gathering and were served very quickly.

Yelp
ONDO completely exceeded our expectations! I came here for my birthday dinner and wasn't entirely sure what I was walking into, but every dish blew me away. The menu is creative in all the right ways, putting a fresh spin on traditional recipes while still honoring their roots. The cocktails were just as impressive as well - balanced, flavorful, and honestly some of the best I've had in a while. Service was outstanding. Everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. We felt so well taken care of from start to finish. The space itself is clean, chic, and versatile making it the perfect setting for a date night, dinner with friends, or a special celebration. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Tucked away in a desolate stretch of Jersey City's waterfront, this understated Korean restaurant is serving some excellent flavors. For vegetarians the options are limited, but I tried everything. We started with the kimchi and silky tofu "hummus", a unique twist on the traditional Korean pairing of kimchi and plain tofu. The kimchi was excellently spiced, and the combination with the cold tofu made for the best dish of the night. The mushroom rice was certainly on the plain (and small) side, but the well-placed pickles dotted throughout made for a compelling main.

Yelp
Loved the food here!! Great area and good vibes inside. All the food was super fresh and flavorful. We loved the tuna tartare, the oysters and kimchi friend rice! All the fish was super fresh. Service was quick and great. Super cute for a date night!

Yelp
Came here to try their happy hour menu which is nicely priced but small cause it's appetizer. Of all the happy hour dishes, seafood pancake is a must and their sauce is addictive. The other 3 dishes are not bad/as expected. The sauce for Rice cake and fried dumpling is good. Fried chicken is boneless and not as satisfying. Also ordered the truffle mushroom rice. For $20, it's expensive as it's a one person portion. Don't think there's an actual truffle in it, or just a sprinkle of it.

Yelp
Overall: B // 4 stars Rewriting a review after receiving recommendations to dine in on their lunch menu, which is indeed highly captivating. Around $20, they offer a complete lunch set featuring fried tofu, rice, soup, pickled cucumber, japchae, and your choice dish of which I opted for the sashimi bibimbap. The sashimi bibimbap is empowered by an addicting gochugaru yuzu dressing that was spicy, sweet, and saline- and citrus-forward. The tofu has delicately soft yet crisp texture, with a soy-forward profile. Overall, I greatly enjoyed everything about this meal except the fact that there was a fly in the restaurant that chased me for the duration of the meal. Their lunch sets in person are vastly superior to their lunch sets for takeout, which remind me of boxed dinners in a slightly-less processed way. Yelp
this spot has become one of my favorite spots to eat in jersey city. the interior was welcoming and gorgeous. the service was amazing. my favorite dish was the bulgogi cream perilla pasta. I'm not usually a fan of perilla but this creamy pasta is now a must order every time I come here. you have to end your meal with their injeolmi tarte. it wasn't too sweet and it was perfect to share between 2 people for a light dessert. the location is perfect if you want to take a stroll by the water after and enjoy the gorgeous view!

Yelp
Upscale Korean food in JC. I did not expect the portion is personal/small. We had to add 3 more orders because some of us were definitely still hungry. Usually seafood pancake is a large size to share. Nonetheless, the flavor is not bad. It's better with the sauce for sure. Fried chicken is juicy and tender with crispy skin. I ask the sauce to be on the side because it's spicy. Bronzino is filet and with risotto. This is a more American/European dish. They cook it beautifully tho. Risotto is rich. The service is wonderful. We have a big group. All the drinks and food come out correct. They are very attentive and nice. Inside is very chic and relaxing. Bar area and regular dining tables/booths. To me it's more like a chat-over-cocktail with friends' vibe instead of actual dinner.

Yelp
Fantastic NYE meal with the family at this venue. Shortrib galbi was very tender and flavorful. The kimchi hummus and japchae were delectable small bites. Nice selection of rice wines and signature cocktails. Adam was a great server.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a weekday, had a reservation but didn't need one as it was totally empty (it's a bit out of the way I think, so most people won't have time to go during a weekday lunch break). They have a really big space as well, which I think contributed to the feeling that it was empty. Service was super attentive, and even though we got there early for our reservation/before opening, they let us take our seats and took our orders early so we could get our food as soon as possible. We ordered the fried chicken, the galbijjim, the charred bulgogi, the mushroom truffle rice, and the injeolmi tart. Overall, I would say that the injeolmi tart and the fried chicken were the main items that I enjoyed, but I wasn't a big fan of the other food. The fried chicken was super crispy and I liked that the gochujang taste wasn't overpowering. For the other entrees, I felt they all had a bit too much butter/cream to be appealing to me. People who are big fans of butter may really enjoy this place, but for me it really muted the savoriness of all the dishes and was a little too overpowering. Regardless, the meat was cooked really well all around (galbijjim and bulgogi were both super tender!), and I'd say my qualm about the creaminess is really more my personal preference. Injeolmi tart was absolutely my favorite thing here and I think I'd come back just for that! Not too sweet, amazing crust, and I loved the s'mores-esque topping with the red bean layered underneath. Definitely unique and a must try!

Yelp
I visited Ondo in Jersey City on the night of the Fourth of July, and surprisingly, it was much quieter than expected -- a mellow vibe that made for an intimate dining experience. Our group of four opted for the tasting menu, and while the portions leaned small, each plate was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. I'd recommend ordering 1-2 additional appetizers if you're coming with a group it'll round out the meal nicely. Standout dishes included the fried chicken, which was perfectly crisp and juicy, and the beef bulgogi, served more like a patty which was a creative take that worked well. The beef tartare with fried seaweed was another favorite of mine -- great textural contrast and well-balanced flavor. For dessert, the highlights were the green tea and honeycomb options -- both light, subtly sweet, and satisfying finishes to the meal. Service was excellent. They were attentive, patient, and flexible, especially when we paused mid-meal to catch the fireworks. Overall, a lovely and unique spot with great food and gracious hospitality. Will definitely return!

Yelp
We picked ONDO for a dinner with our friends. We called in to confirm availability and the restaurant was very accommodating to fit our party of 7 within a short notice of half an hour. The restaurant has modern interior with wooden styles. Chill and comfortable vibes. There's a small bar as well. We started the dinner with seafood pancake and fried dumplings. Both of them were good starter dishes. The chicken gongjeong also a good small dish. Then we got the branzino risotto, probably the best dish. Delicious risotto with well cooked branzino. Next was the charred bulgogi. This one was disappointing, as I did not find the taste nor the feel of a beef dish. The service was decent overall, very friendly staff. The food mostly came out within decent time. Despite being highly priced, the dishes were so small we had to order multiples of them.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
ONDO is a nice departure away from the typical Korean dining experience. The food has very nice presentation and very balanced flavors. Korean dishes are often very imbalanced vs other cuisines. Ondo's dishes are cooked perfectly to make eating a joy. The reason you need a big bowl of rice at other places because the dishes are too salty or spicy. You're not served any rice here because the flavors are balanced perfectly. The galbi and bulgogi are the perfect examples of modern cooking with traditional dishes. Service here is also top notch and so are the cocktails. Great date spot.
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
I never would have found this place if I hadn't gone to Smorgasbar first. ONDO is right next to it. It looked intriguing but we didn't try it for a long time. When we first did, we sat at the bar area. I got the spicy seafood tofu soup, which was delicious. It's rich, warm, perfect to have on a cold night. Be sure to ask for a side of rice. Rice isn't included. My husband got the charred bulgogi, both times we went because he doesn't like to try new things. The second time we went, I got the tasting menu. I forgot to take pictures of most of the dishes but I included the Hwe seaweed salald, which is the first course, and the main, for which I chose the charred bulgogi bangsang. It comes with a side of mushroom rice and soup. I also liked both cocktails I had the two times I went: sweet rain the first time, and blossom the second time. Both were on the sweeter side and both light and refreshing. I love this place and will continue going to get excellent Korean food in Jersey City.

Yelp
Learned of this spot while looking for some good korean spots nearby. I will always rave about the grilled branzino to anyone willing to listen. The meat of the branzino is tender, kind of fatty, the skin is crispy, and the risotto itself has a really nice flavor and texture- seriously one of my favorite things to order at this price point. I think the restaurant interior is both great for casual dinners and dates and the lighting was pretty good where we were sitting. Conveniently situated by the water so good opportunity to walk off the calories and enjoy a great view after dinner. Staff are friendly and accomodating.

Yelp
We had an excellent experience! Came for happy hour and loved the seafood pancake and spicy fried chicken, both were delicious and top-notch in quality. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Yelp
Very delicious Korean food. Went there with my boyfriend and we tried a couple of different dishes, all were very good. The servers were friendly as well, it's a cozy atmosphere. On the weekends definitely recommend a reservation, which you can easily do online.
google avatar

Pri W.

Yelp
Upscale and modern Korean dining in Jersey City! Things to be mindful of if you're dining here- portions are smaller and meant to be shareable, there's only street parking and the menu is not as friendly if you are vegetarian. The dishes we ordered were delicious and the service was helpful when deciding what to order! Would recommend the kimchi fried rice and the Korean chicken appetizer
google avatar

Natty C.

Yelp
I really liked the food and drinks but it's not much of an atmosphere. It's on the pricy side and the portions are small.
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Tasty, creative dishes inspired by Korean and some aspects of Italian cuisine! There's a small bar and the restaurant has a modern, warm ambient feel. Another first impression was that the staff are friendly and were welcoming. We got the perilla pasta to share and I got the Bossam lunch set. The kimchi, cucumber, japchae banchan has a more mild flavor, and they don't give you a ton of Bossam -- the pork was super tasty, flavorful, and had just the right amount of sweetness from the garlic topping. The perilla pasta is umami-filled and just a hint of perilla -- would recommend trying! Overall portions might not be big, but everything tasted great and I'd come back to try some of the other sets .
google avatar

Angela N.

Yelp
This place is so good!! The restaurant is well lit, decorated nicely with ambient lighting. The bar seating is nice as it is very organized and elegant looking. The servers are all very sweet and quick to attending our needs and requests. Of the menu items my boyfriend and I ordered that night, our favorites were the truffle mushroom rice and galbi-jjim. The galbi-jjim was paired with a chestnut puree and a sweet red sauce that brought so much nostalgia and warmth to our palettes. And the mushroom rice was a great pairing with the galbi as it had a deep rich truffle flavor and good texture. Perfect date night spot and I honestly can't wait to come here again!

Yelp
If Ondo seems like it'd be right at home in Manhattan, that's probably because....it would be. From the luxurious decor to the beautiful plating to the refined flavors, this place is so Korean chic, you might be tempted to check your GPS to make sure you didn't wind up on the wrong side of the river. Everything we got was stellar. The Truffle Mushroom Rice (albeit cliched) was perfectly sticky and flavorful. The Bossam pork strips were cooked perfectly. Our Grilled Branzino was tender enough to eat with a spoon, while the Bulgogi Cream Perilla Pasta was sweet, rich and creamy without ever being overwhelming. And my favorite part of the meal was our dessert: a light, airy chiffon-esque Banana Cake that perfectly captured this underrated cake flavor without ever being too sweet. I mean how much is a banana anyway? $10? We sat at the bar, and service was as gentle and friendly as the general ambience. We even got a free Tiramisu Martini because apparently they made extra. Woot. The prices and portions might make your halmoni tsk tsk, but I'd wager even she would relent after trying that cake.

Yelp
Came with a friend for lunch after some shopping. There is a lot right in front of the restaurant, but parking is $12 for 1st hour. There wasn't much street parking. We were greeted quickly. We did not make a reservation, but there were plenty of tables to accommodate walk ins. The space was very nice and clean. The bathroom was very dark, I thought the lights were off at first. My friend thought the same LOL. We ordered the sashimi bibimbap set, galbi jjim and the bulgogi cream perilla pasta. The sashimi bibimbap was very weird. The fish had a strong yuzu flavor which was refreshing, however the bibimbap sauce was too sweet. There wasn't much vegetables in bibimbap. I would not order this again. Now let me tell you about the galbi jjim. This was so good. I would come back for this. The meat was so tender and flavorful. It came with a chestnut sauce and a dark sweet sauce. Only thing was I wished it came with a bowl of rice. We did order a bowl of rice. The bulgogi cream perilla pasta was also very good. Wished it came with more noodles. The sauce was so good, but it became very salty at the end. Overall I would come back. Portions are smaller than the usually traditional portions. Flavors are modern and not traditional so do not expect traditional Korean food here.
google avatar

Ingrid C.

Yelp
Came here for the lunch special.. a lot of people had reservations upon coming in but there were enough seats for walk ins that day. This restaurant can be a little hard to find as it's not clearly labeled on the building outside, but I'm not sure if it's because this complex is still having renovations. - Spicy Pork Stir Fry: 4/5, a bit on the sweet side and the sides weren't as filling... not the best kimchi we've had - Pork Bossam: 4/5, fatty pieces of pork pairs pretty nicely with the rice, but again, nothing special from any hole in the wall Korean restaurants run by ajummas Was definitely expecting a little more given the heftier prices, but service was good and the ambiance felt chic and good for dates.

Yelp
Located in an unassuming nook, Ondo packs a great vibe unlike your typical Korean eatery. It gave less homely and more upscale dining. Here's the rundown of what we ordered: - Galbi Jjim (5/5) - tender, subtle, clean and multidimensional with the chestnut puree and savory date sauce poured atop. - Grilled Branzino (4/5) - perfectly cooked fish, and the barely risotto served with was reminiscent of cauliflower rice risotto - leaving you not feeling heavy after while adding an appreciated texture to the otherwise monotone barley risotto bits. On its own, it was simple, well prepared and a tad bit mild in flavor. Combined with the other entrees, the flavor profile worked just well. - Spicy Pork (4/5) - not spicy, be warned. Yet, the cook on the meat, and the subtly sweet, umami seasoning delivered a nice experiece! Don't compare it to a traditional Jaeyuk and you will be rather pleased than not. - Injeolmi Tart (4/5) - graham crust, mascarpone and red bean paste filling with a dome of airy cream dusted with the bean powder - not too sweet, just a unique sweet treat to wrap up the meal with. Holistically, Ondo delivered subtle flavors with attentive service and in a very refined manner - not typical of a traditional Korean eatery where the food packs a punch. That being said, the delicate flavors and preparation of the dishes were uniquely comforting and thus more-ish.

Yelp
One of the best modern Korean restaurants in the NYC metro area. The tasting menu was absolutely delicious, with every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented. The only downside was the service, as our server was a bit hard to find at times.

Yelp
I feel kinda rude saying this place feels like it would fit right into New York's dining landscape. Rude because I know Jersey has a chip on its shoulder constantly being compared to the cooler place just across the Hudson and because Jersey City can hold its own as a drinking and dining destination (over Hoboken, imho). Having spent many years dating someone who lived in JC I grew quite fond of the dining scene, so just know that I say all this as an informed JC interloper with zero ounce of disdain for the place. Anyway, five stars for ONDO! First of all, bravo to them for a very clear and straightforward legend on their menu identifying which dishes have allergens like nuts, gluten, or shellfish, and which dishes are vegan or spicy. The place is also gorgeous, with plush booth seats and tasteful wood paneling along the bar and ceiling, drawing your gaze upward. I absolutely loved their playlist-- it felt like a Soulection set could've been playing. If you're familiar with Korean food then you'll feel right at home with this menu. The spicy octopus pasta, tteokbokki, spicy Korean fried chicken, and seafood scallion pancake were all delicious. I especially liked the cocktails. The bar knows what they're doing. I commend drawing this New York diner over to the other side of the Hudson for a meal, rather than the other way around. The short PATH train ride was well worth it.

Yelp
I enjoyed this restaurant but it's not so amazing that I would go here over trying something new. The food is quite interesting and the venue itself is very nice. Went here with family and then took a walk along the water afterwards. We also got really lucky with parking so overall I'm glad we tried it. The food is not amazing but it is good. We ordered the duck salad, the bossam, the fish roe rice with black cod and black sesame ice cream. The fish roe rice with cod was by far my favorite. The fish was marinated nicely and the rice was well seasoned. The portion is quite small however. The duck salad felt basic. The duck itself was cooked very similarly to Taylor ham which felt like a very underwhelming way to present duck. The dressing also tasted essentially like honey mustard which is just not very special. The pork in the bossam was cooked perfectly but it came with this tiny dish of kimchi and another tiny dish of pineapple relish and also some cabbage. The idea is you make a roll but physically it's very hard to do this. The cabbage is cooked so it's flimsy and the kimchi and sauce fall off the pork when you pick it up with chopsticks. The cabbage was also quite cold and salty so I didn't want to eat it. I had to ask for more toppings because we ran out before the pork was even halfway gone. The flavor of the dessert was good but the ice cream itself was kind of frozen. It had some freezer burn in the middle so I was crunching on it at some points. Overall, this place is fun to try but it needs some refinement. The pricing isn't bad but I would be willing to pay more if the food was taken up a notch.

Yelp
Cute Korean restaurant in JC! The food here was good, but definitely on the sweeter side/ more of a fusion-style restaurant! We got 2 dishes to share; - Bulgogi pasta: 10/10 (sweet, but loved the creamy deulgireum sauce with the bulgogi) - Tteokbokki: 8/10 (a sweeter style of Tteokbokki; reminiscent of the ones you would get at a market in Korea) Overall, vibes were great and service was good. I'd definitely check this place out if you're craving some fusion-style Korean food in JC!
google avatar

Sheena L.

Yelp
Creative Korean dishes, all very good. Asked for Tteokbokki no fish cake and they were able to accommodate - flavorful, a lot of sauce but good. The sausage was like Vienna fingers / mini hot dogs - didn't hate it. Also got the Galbi Jjim, very good, a bit smaller than I expected it to be but still big enough portion. Thought the meat would be more tender like KBBQ juicy but it was a little more dry, not really spicy a little more on the sweet side. Last dish was the creamy perilla bulgogi pasta. This was yummy, also a little sweet and strong sesame (or maybe it was perilla) flavor - very good fusion dish and a lot of sauce but a little on the sweet side for me. Overall pleasant meal and solid spot in JC.

Yelp
The ambiance is great and service was good. My review more reflects the food. 3 is decent: it's not bad but nothing blows you away. The charred bulgogi is really not really bulgogi in the traditional sense it's really a meat patty. The army stew doesn't have noodles. The food is decent don't get me wrong but it's not really what you expect. In my opinion if you deviate from tradition and reinvent the wheel, it's gotta be a better wheel. But it wasn't at ONDO. I'd recommend for a date for the ambiance and drinks. But if you're a foodie then probably skip.

Yelp
A truly exceptional experience. Every dish was flawless and delicious. The Kimchi on tofu hummus was exceptional. The Seafood tofu soup sublime. Frankly every thing we tried made it hard to decide what we liked best. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place in Jersey City and was pleasantly surprised by it. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, rivaling a NYC upscale restaurant. The waitstaff was wonderful and came by a few times to check in on us. As it was 5:30, the place wasn't crowded so it was nice to be able to catch up with my friend and not have to raise our voices to hear one another. We ordered the mushroom rice and jaipai (sweet potato noodles) for our meal and both were very tasty. I had the jaipai spicy and though not very spicy it did lend itself to a lot of flavor. The portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side compared to other restaurants but left satisifed and would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and was pleasantly surprised with this Korean fusion place! The bossam dish was well balanced with the kimchi and pineapple(?) sauce, salad was bright and dressing wasn't too heavy, bulgogi pasta was our tables favorite with the perilla leaf garnish, tteokbokee was a decent portion as well! Definitely try the yuzu sorbet if you have room for dessert! Restaurant is nicely dimmed for a nice date night or group dinner, service is quick and efficient. Would highly recommend having a reservation to avoid wait!

Yelp
Ordered: Bando (~$18): gin, soju, aperol, pineapple juice, lime juice, St. Germaine Seafood Scallion Pancake (~$16) Rose Tteokbokki (~$15) Spicy Korean Fried Chicken (~$20) Truffle Mushroom Rice (~$20) Galbi-Jjim (~$38): with chestnut purée, Thai chili, and omija sauce Bulgogi Cream Perilla Pasta (~$23) Honeycomb Toffee Panna Cotta (~$8) Banana Cake (~$13) Aya's take: ONDO is a contemporary Korean restaurant that takes a modern twist on traditional Korean dishes. There was plenty of free parking which is a huge plus in JC and upon entering, the decor was sleek and ambiance is smart casual. A lot of the dishes are small/meant for sharing so we got a bunch to share. The Seafood Scallion Pancake had great flavor and texture with plenty of shrimp and calamari in each bite. The Truffle Mushroom Rice was exceptional and probably my favorite starter of the 4 we got. The Galbi-Jjim was actually the first dish to hit our table which was confusing considering it's one of the mains. The Galbi-Jjim was super tender and balanced between savory and sweet. This did not feel like a Korean dish to me whatsoever. I love Galbi-Jjim and I wouldn't preferred a more traditional take on this dish. The Bulgogi Cream Perilla Pasta was a fantastic dish. It's creamy and rich with a flavorful sauce. It was seasoned well and I liked the bulgogi I got in every bite. Both desserts were not standouts but of the two, I would go with Honeycomb Toffee Panna Cotta which was not too sweet and had a light lavender flavor which I love. The Banana Cake was quite dry and borderline stale - and this says a lot because I'm a sucker for banana desserts. All in all, it was a solid try for dinner and great place to catch up with friends over a meal.

Yelp
Oh my..... this place makes me want to move to Jersey! We had an absolutely amazing meal here! Every dish was perfect, our server was very attentive and recommended delicious cocktails (go for the prickly pear martini) Korean food is just so delicious and this place really will give you the very best of it. Don't hesitate - choose Ondo tonight!

Yelp
Not a JC 5; this is a proper Manhattan 5. Everything from the service to the ambience is top notch. Food was excellent too. The KFC, spicy pork and pasta were all so well done and appropriately portioned.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I've tried in JC. Made an early dinner reservation on a Saturday for 3 people, and tried: + Ondo martini + Ondo beef tartare + Potato pancake + Cast iron fried rice with bulgogi + Spicy mul hoe with soba + fish roe rice with salmon + Sweet potato cake + Black sesame ice cream The standout dish was the fried rice - definitely that. Everything was really excellent though. Awesome service, too!

Yelp
Been meaning to check out ONDO for a while now. I'm a huge fan of Domo Domo, so when I had heard they also opened ONDO I knew there was a good chance it'd be great. My partner and I made reservations through Resy, though there was open seating when we got there. It's the sort of space where if you're more than a party of three you should probably book a reservation. Our waiter was very nice, give us time to look at the menu and made sure to answer any questions . something to note, is that the menu has a ton of spicy dishes on it. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy, I have to be in the mood for it, so we decided to split a couple of the non-spicy dishes. Duck salad - My partner and I loved this dish so much that he's going to try to recreate it at home. The salad dressing is bright and paired really well with the simplicity of the duck. Beef Tartare - This was an interesting take and I really enjoyed it. The beef was cut into ribbons instead of a mash like a normal tartare. Made it a lot easier to maneuver with chopsticks. Charred Bulgogi - This was SO good! Whatever way they prepared the short rib made it perfect. The meat practically melts in your mouth. Bossam - This was definitely my least favorite. It's a little like fajitas in that you make your own lettuce wraps. Some of the pork had big chunks of fat in it and I wasn't too big a fan of the sauce they included. My partner enjoyed the radish kimchi that was included. Overall, definitely going back. It's a little on the pricey side, but the food and ambiance makes it totally worth it.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with similar vibes and quality as DomoDomo. Came for dinner with my fiance and was happy with the service and food we ordered. We'll definitely be back to try other plates as there's a large variety of items to choose from and with varying dish sizes to suit a range of appetites. Worth a try!

Yelp
The flavors are very familiar to a Korean palate with a modern twist which made the dining experience really interesting and enjoyable.

Yelp
Highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant was packed for dinner! All the dishes are meant to be shared and were really great. Some highlights were the beef tartare, the pasta and the japchae but honestly I don't think I disliked a single thing. We did feel that one of the drinks missed its mark but the server allowed us to order a new one free of charge. Great service! I would definitely recommend for date night or for a group of friends to share the different dishes. Loved the location of this restaurant as we walked along the water to catch the end of the sunset after dinner!

Yelp
Ondo feels like the best place to reconnect with taste from home. The happy hour menu was impressive. The waiter customer service was timeluy, patient amd well courted. The resturant is located in a peaceful, serene and easy to idemtify spot in town. I had a great time.

Yelp
My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary! The restaurant is very aesthetic and has a cute bar area. We ordered ONDO Beef Tartare, Spicy Korean Fried Chicken, Galbi-Jjim and Grilled Branzino. There were some fantastic items and some so-so items. We both loved the beef tartare which featured some seaweed chips. My husband doesn't really care for beef tartare but he really liked the flavor of this one - felt unique. The galbi-jjim was sooo amazing - extremely tender and great flavor. The fried chicken wasn't so special and not something we would order again. My husband did enjoy the branzino but personally, I felt that it lacked flavor. Overall, still a good experience here!

Yelp
I had this place on my list of places to try in JC for a while, and when I had a friend visiting, I decided to take her! It's situated on the waterfront a few minutes away from the Harborside lightrail station. The inside is decorated nicely and dim- would be great for a date night. I had reservations and was seated immediately. The server recommended the Bong Bong as my drink, and I'm so glad I listed to his recommendation! I loved it and would definitely order again. Now to the food- I was a bit dissapointed. For the starter, I got the Japchae. This was a standard Japchae but nothing special. For the main, I got the Bossom. The pork itself was perfectly cooked but I felt like it was lacking flavor overall. I loved my drink and would perhaps come back here for small bites and drinks. However, I think another meal here is a no go for me.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place. I decided to give it a try and ordered lunch. Ordred the ONDO Jaeyuk (spicy pork) and ONFO KFC (spicy boneless fried chicken). Both were really good, not too spicy but flavorful. The fried chicken was not dry at all. It came in a bento box and had sides of japchae, 2 dumplings, and potato salad. The sides were delicous too. Me and my friend finished it all. She agreed it was delicious. I will definetly come back and try other items on the menu.
