"Stylish and serviceable, One Bunk marks a new kind of hotel for Tijuana, one that's perfectly on par with the city's thriving food and art scene—and the travelers who want to explore it. The nine guest rooms are sparsely decorated, yet comfortable, with small bathrooms and cool, colorful touches. Downstairs in "El Lobby," a hip crowd of 20- and 30-somethings hangs beside mid-century furniture, contemporary art, and a light fixture made of vintage tennis rackets. There's also an on-site barbershop and a location of Object , a contemporary boutique specializing in clothing and decor by Mexican designers." - Archana Ram

"What will we notice off the bat?The micro-hotel is housed in a slate gray building on busy Avenida Revolución in the former Hotel Lafayette (the neon sign remains). In all, it's a cool, artsy oasis on an otherwise hectic street. One Bunk combines the ease and independence of Airbnb, where you'll book your stay, with a staffed front desk, daily complimentary housekeeping, and other hotel perks. What’s the crowd like? It's mainly stylish 20- and 30-something travelers who don't let Tijuana's seedy reputation keep them from exploring the vibrant and newly evolving city. They share a love of craft coffee and beer, travel, and clean design. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. There are nine rooms total, some with double beds, some with queens, and some with loft or bunk beds. Rooms are sparsely decorated with wood- or metal-frame beds, bare concrete walls, exposed pipes, and a shot of color via zarape fabric pillows. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds are as comfy as they are stylish. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that worth a mention? The room comes with two free water bottles at the start of your stay (you'll have to pay for subsequent bottles though) and the audio systems are Tivoli. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Bathrooms are small—on par with what you'd find in a Manhattan apartment. But what they lack in size and amenities—no fluffy robes or bath slippers here—they make up for in style, with Technicolor-splashed walls and minimalist One Bunk–branded bath products. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? It's free. Anything stand out about other services and features?Hotel lobbies aren't always a worthwhile hangout spot. Not so at One Bunk Tijuana, where "El Lobby" is decked out with contemporary art, a light fixture made of vintage tennis rackets, and midcentury-modern furniture. There's a one-chair barbershop on the ground floor, and a location of Object, an upscale decor and clothing boutique, on the second floor. There's also a rooftop bar that hosts yoga sessions. Anything you'd chang?Rooms are comfortable, but given the busy area, you're bound to hear some noise—something the hotel is up front about. Also, the hotel is not ADA accessible; you'll be climbing stairs to get to your room. Bottom line: Why should we choose One Bunk?Tijuana's food, art, and cultural scene is thriving—this is a place perfect those who want to experience it." - Archana Ram

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Parking: 1/5 Family friendly: 1/5 Stroller friendly: 0/5 ADA accessibility: 0/5 This 5 room boutique hotel is on the strip overlooking Ave. Revolución.  It has a modern, hipster vibe. The rooms are small, with all the usual amenities, plush bed, and space is utilized well. Staff is very friendly, attentive. There is a really awesome bar with indoor outdoor seating and the chef/bartender Miguel  great stories and life experiences from his world travels he's willing to share. Drinks were good but a bit expensive. If you are a couple who want to be in the downtown TJ area to experience nightlife, this might be the place for you. However, the hotel doesn't have its own parking, as it is off-site, not oriented for families or those who have difficulties moving around or in need of ramps.

I recently stayed at One Bunk for 8 nights and really liked it. The staff, security guards and housekeeping staff were so friendly and helpful, esp. Alejandra, Fernando and Francisco. There was a problem in my room with not a lot of hot water but Fernando solved the problem. The front rooms are incredibly noisy but it was fun to listen to and watch all the street action. I switched to a room at the back of the hotel and it was quieter. I was in room #14 where there's no blind on the shower window so it lets wonderful light into the room, although a bit early! I was told the window is one way so I could see out but no one could see in which was good because I didn't want anyone watching me shower, lol! I will stay at One Bunk again on my next trip to Tijuana.

The rooms are nice and cozy pretty clean I like the metro look they have. The one down fall is The room I stayed in didn't have a tv which was a bit annoying, seeing how I got sick during my trip and was confined to my room for an entire day with nothing to do. Also my room was a street view which was very noisy at night the local bars below the hotel play music very loud to pull people in but it kept me up till 4am when they close. In my opinion the price is a bit high compared to similar hotels in the area that offer more amenities. A good thing about this property is its completely secure. You need a key card to enter or exit which keeps out unwanted guess.

There were people on staff around the clock and all were friendly, helpful and attentive. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there are lounge areas as well as a coffee bar. It is on a busy touristy street which is good for safety, but not for noise. All in all, it was good and I would return.

This was a great little boutique hotel. Really fun and thoughtful design—from the record player and mini cafe in the common area, to the small bits of poetry written in strange places in the rooms. The staff were very friendly and we loved the location.

I had a trip planned to San Diego and Tijuana, and was disappointed that I had to cancel the trip because of the coronavirus pandemic. I just want to say that of all the folks I had to deal with in cancelling my plans, the folks at One Bunk were the absolute best. Far and above everyone else. I sent a simple email and within 24 hours everything was taken care of and a credit was posted to my credit card. I wish it had been that easy with other vendors on this trip. With the rest it was hours on hold to talk with someone, partial refunds, and with one I'm three weeks later still waiting for a credit to be posted to my account. Thank-you One Bunk for being so considerate. I can't wait for the pandemic to be over so I can set this trip again and finally get to stay in your funky hotel. <3

This hotel is such a great value! We booked through Airbnb and the price was super reasonable. The location is fantastic— 5-7 minute drive to the US border ($5 cab), directly above the bar/restaurant La Justina (their cocktails are amazing), and a stone’s throw from tons of other restaurants, bars, and shops. There’s no need for a car since there’s plenty to do within walking distance. We also took Ubers from the hotel to farther restaurants a few times. When taking a taxi, most drivers don’t know the hotel by name, so it’s easier to just say that you want to go to the Hotel Ceasars on Avenida Revolucion, which is just diagonally across the street. We did have a little trouble finding the hotel on arrival because the entrance is actually up a steep set of steps on the side of the building. The beds have Casper mattresses, and are super comfortable. The style of the hotel is trendy and a bit eclectic, which makes for lots of fun Instagram pics haha. The room decor is simple, but funky, and the bathroom/shower tiles are fun. We especially loved the restaurant, La Placita, across the street for breakfast (with live music) and the restaurant, Cevicheria La Mas Nais, which is a few blocks away and has delish ahi tuna tostadas and whole grilled octopus. Also, take a taxi to the food truck park, Telefonica Gastro Park— great food and a really upbeat vibe!
