One Chun

"Merging her fashion design background with a love of food, owner Khun Prang has created a big hearted dining experience with a distinct vintage feel. The 19th century building sets the scene, as do antiquities from bygone days scattered about, while the food is authentically Phuket, comprising family recipes passed down over 3 generations. Shrimp paste dip served with vegetables delightfully starts the meal." - Michelin Inspector

One Chun Cafe serves up authentic Thai cuisine that’s both delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish bursts with bold, balanced flavors and shows real attention to detail. However, the dining experience is marred by slow service. Dishes don’t arrive all at once, making the meal feel disjointed — a letdown given the high expectations set by the food quality. Adding to the inconvenience, the restaurant only accepts cash. Fortunately, prices are reasonable, which softens the blow. Verdict: Incredible food and presentation, but be patient — and don’t forget to bring cash.

Deserves all the Michelin stars awarded. Very authentic and great tasting Thai cuisine. Comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. Clean toilet. Crowds will stream in by 6pm even on weekdays and fill up the restaurant. Recommended to go early as there is no reservations. Bring along cash as well as this is the only mode of payment for foreigners.

One Chun was top of our list to visit having seen so many good reviews prior to us visiting Thailand. My wife & I were walk in’s during peak service and were seated immediately. The staff were so receptive considering how busy they were. The decor is something you’d notice straight away if you’ve ever dined in London. We selected several dishes including those from their signature menu and recommended specials. We can honestly say the whole experience was wonderful. The food came to us very quickly, the portions and quality were what you’d expect from a place with such a reputation. Lastly I’ll mention the cost, our total came to £38 for six dishes and drinks, definitely worth the money.

Discovered this place through Google, it’s a Michelin recognised restaurant and the food does live up to the reputation. Do note that the waiting time is around 1 hour and you’ll need to be physically present while waiting. The restaurant is housed in a two storey building with an old-school, nostalgic vibe. Prices are on the higher side and portions are not very big but the quality stands out. We ordered the crab meat curry, which had a generous amount of crab, watery curry gravy and was not too spicy. It came with two small portions (mouthfuls) of rice noodles to enjoy with the curry. The stir fried broccoli was fresh and nicely cooked. The fried egg with pork was crispy but a bit oily. The braised pork belly was tender and flavourful. The star of the night was the deep fried fish, crispy, perfectly salted and delicious on its own, with a side of mango salad that added a fresh contrast. A good choice if you’re willing to wait!

We had dinner at One Chun in Old Phuket Town and really enjoyed it. The place gets busy, so it’s worth going early to avoid a wait. Despite the crowd, the staff were friendly and the service was quick. The food came out fast and was full of flavour. It’s a great spot for local Thai dishes in a lively setting. Must have: The fish cakes. Fresh, perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I’ve had this place on my list before coming to Thailand, and it definitely lived up to the hype I’ve seen on social media. The food and service were both great. I came early to avoid queues, and the shrimp was especially tasty. Prices are very reasonable — definitely a must-visit if you’re in Phuket.

Dined 17 June. Nice? Yeah but it's just nice nice... Not like WOW nice. All were good. Staff were very good. The pork in salt was INSANE!!!! LOVED this most. Not too packed today but we started early. Overall the Michelin sticker played a part in people coming in I guess?
