One Handsome Bastard Distillery

I travel a lot for work, and even for a single meal, I always do my research. While looking for a place to have brunch in Scottsdale, I decided to skip the typical brunch cafés — and this spot caught my eye. After seeing the photos other reviewers had posted, I just had to come. I arrived right after opening and turned out to be the first customer of the day. I ordered the BBQ Burger and a Papago Orange Blossom beer. Guys, I’ve been to the U.S. many times on business trips, and I always try burgers wherever I go — but this one goes beyond Arizona. It’s truly one of the best of the best. Absolutely incredible. I was eating so fast I even found myself mumbling, “this is crazy,” and I told the server this burger was insane — in the best way possible. The pairing with the beer was just perfect. I wanted to try other dishes too, but I was way too full. If my hotel were closer, I’d have definitely come back for dinner. I regret not ordering a few more bites. If you live in Phoenix or ever get the chance to visit Scottsdale, you have to check this place out. I took lots of photos — the pictures and the taste of that burger are something I’ll remember for a long time.

I was in town for a weekend get away, when we came across "The Handsome Bastard" (love the name!). Turns out they are small batch vodka and gin distillery plus restaurant. Our waitress Laurisa was super friendly and took great care of us. The manager Mike stopped by to check on us and we were able to visit with him several times. Told us the story of their vodka - great guy!! We just opted for a quick bite and drinks. Our choice was the nachos w chicken - it was tray full of nachos, more than I expected!! Lots of chicken, cheese, black beans and Pico and it had great flavor. Drinks i opted for a flight of 4 vodka tastings, plus a BC basil cocktail and an apple cider sangria. Both drinks were refreshing (i would order them again). I ordered an extra shot with The Handsome Bastard potato vodka, it had clean taste. I liked it so much, I bought a bottle. Thank you Mike, Laurisa and the staff for a great visit!

A fantastic place. Drink specials are awesome and the service is excellent- Kevin was great. Monday night might be a little slow but great atmosphere. Burgers were really good and the choice of sides was really might - sweet potato tots with maple syrup is a nice touch. Outdoor patio had lots of seating.

Kevin at the bar was amazing. We stopped in to try some gin and vodka and learned so much about their process. The owner/head distiller was wonderful as well. My only regret is thay I wish we had stopped here earlier on the trip and grabbed a bottle to enjoy. Get the green chile vodka!

I had an experience today that I will never forget, and I want to thank Trish from the bottom of my heart. On Thanksgiving afternoon, I was alone in Old Town Scottsdale when I was followed by a man whose behavior and intention felt genuinely threatening. No stores were open, the streets were empty, and I had nowhere safe to go. I was terrified. I ran into this restaurant purely to seek safety, even though they were hosting a private family gathering. Trish immediately saw how shaken I was. She didn’t question me, didn’t make me feel like a burden — she simply welcomed me in and told me I could stay as long as I needed. She offered me water, something to drink, and kept checking on me to make sure I was okay. The security staff also helped make sure the man left the area. Trish even stepped outside to scan the street so she could tell me when it was safe to leave. Her kindness, calmness, and genuine care protected me in a moment when I felt completely helpless and alone in a strange city. She told me that if I needed anything or felt unsafe later in the evening, I could come back and they would keep the doors open for me. That kind of humanity — that kind of compassion — is something you don’t forget. Trish quite literally made sure I got to the hotel safely. Thank you, Trish. You were my miracle tonight. I will remember your kindness for the rest of my life.

The buffalo chicken sandwich with the homemade pickles is insanely good. My wife,Carol, had the phiilly. It is gluten free and sooo good. The flat baked fries were something unexpected but wow were they great. We have been here a few times and have never regretted the trip we make from Coolidge to here, just for the food and being able to relax on the patio and people watch. Had to buy a bottle of their wonderful vodka, also gluten free. (Wife is celiac). Best part is being greated by Trish who makes you feel so welcomed. We will be back soon. Her husband, the handsom bastard, is a very lucky man.

As newcomers to the area, we've quickly become regulars at One Handsome Bastard, with their excellent food and genuine hospitality that makes you feel like family from day one. Owner Trish sets the tone with her warmth and attention to detail—she genuinely cares about creating a welcoming atmosphere. Behind the bar, Kevin is nothing short of legendary, mixing drinks with skill and personality that keeps us coming back. And Rudy? Simply awesome in every way. The food delivers. Their flatbreads are some of the best we've had, and the nachos hit the spot. Happy hour is fantastic--and they make their own vodka! What sets One Handsome Bastard apart is how they make us feel at home. I've spent many hours here watching baseball—including the tragic losses of both the Mariners and the Blue Jays—and the staff always made sure to find me "my TV" so I could witness these heartbreaks up close! It's that kind of thoughtful service that turns a restaurant into your go-to spot. In a new neighborhood, finding a place where you're welcomed like an old friend is priceless. We're so grateful to have discovered this spot practically across the street. Thank you, Trish, Kevin, Rudy, and the whole crew for making our transition to the area so much warmer. Highly recommend—this is the kind of local spot every neighborhood deserves.

If I could give more stars I would! We had the best bartender/waitress. We tried a Bloody Mary, dirty martini, lemon drop martini and a mean lady martini (mango with green chili) they were all DELICIOUS! We had the nachos (sorry I didn’t capture the photo) they were good! Our friends had the buffalo chicken sandwich with tater tots, they said it was good too. Highly recommend ! AND they have happy hour Monday - Friday GO!

Perfect Food. Perfect Drinks. Perfect Service. This will definitely be my go to dinner and drink spot when I am in the area!!

Great food, service and the place is amazing. The lighting is different haven't seen the bulbs before but there cool. Nice and quiet place and some TVs for your sport fans. Got the street tacos with chicken. Seasoned and top perfectly. Family was with me so they got the nachos and bbq chicken flatbread and sweet potato tots. Flat bread was well sauces, seasoned and the cheese was melted perfectly. Nachos were great nice size nd topped very well. Great experience for first time coming in. I would come back.

Had a great chicken burger on one of the best gluten-free buns I have had at a restaurant in a while, plus a huge side salad. The house made pickles are very good, crunchy and only lightly tasting of vinegar. The vib inside is relaxed yet fun and service was fast and friendly. Come hungry as the portions were large.

Delicious & great service! I got the mushroom burger sans the bun and it was cooked perfect, medium to well done! The sweet potato fries were hot & yummy dipped in ranch! The hubs got the Pine Top burger which is a customer favorite & recommended & it indeed was messy & good! He got the french fries that are cut and fried in the shape of potato chips! He says those were absolutely delicious dipped in the aïoli sauce!! The atmosphere is open, clean and full of drinking options since it is also a vodka & gin distillery. We didn't have that for lunch but we'll be back for a tasting for sure! Definitely check this place out! We met the manager/owner- super nice, friendly & welcoming lady!

A great laid-back spot for drinks and tasty bites! The outdoor patio was a great place for lunch or happy hour. The southwest Brussels sprouts were extremely flavorful and crispy. Such a fun spot!

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and the place is deserted. Good playlist for the music, all the tvs are muted so we can watch what is on or actually talk! Menu is good. We had a green apple, bacon and blue cheese flat bread. The hot honey was just honey with a ton of red pepper flakes, not a fan. We did a flight of 2 gins and 2 flavored vodkas. All were good!

We seated ourselves and our server greeted us right away and brought us waters. It was happy hour so we happily ordered our cocktails. The burgers we ordered were huge! The burger was tasty and my tots were crispy. The food came out pretty slow.

Hey ... this is a nice small batch distillery in Old Scottsdale. Gin and vodkas. I like the blood orange gin and lemon vodka. Maybe just as good as Citron Absolute. They serve food. They have happy hour 4:30 to 7 during the week . Check and make sure for 1/2 off cocktails and $1 off drafts.

So good! We tried many of their drinks (all half off during happy hour!) feminine rage and their espresso martini were our favorites. Their food was also delicious, next time I'd get their sweet potato tots extra crispy. They have games on the tables which is always fun with a group. The service was great as well!

So much fun!!! This place hits the trifecta! Great service, good food (try the Brussel sprouts with bacon) and good booze!! They make their own Gin and Vodka!! They have margaritas and other mixed drinks too!! Sit outside, eat, drink, and play games!! So fun!! Give it a try!

Kind of a limited menu with no real creativity involved. That being said, the pretzels appetizer was nice and hot with obe of the two dipping sauces (honey mustsrd) being better than the other. Inattentive bartender didn't ask me for refill until too late. Good bar name. This location has had at least 6 concepts in the last 5 years.

From the outside this place looked like it was going to be a pretty good place to go in and have a meal. Taking a look at the menu it looked like they had some pretty decent choices. Most of us all got burgers, unfortunately almost all of our burgers were undercooked to the point of like the center was raw. I like a medium rare Burger but this was a little bit too much. And my niece actually had to send hers back because it was just browned on the outside. Now this may have been a one-time thing, it may have been a problem for the cook however, when it was all of us I tend to think that it was just bad service.

Cool spot. Loved the ambiance and the big door entrance. They make their own flavored vodka and I also believe gin. Our waitress was super attentive and awesome. I wanted something sweet for my cocktail and she suggested something that was no longer on their menu called the Berry Bliss which was delicious! We weren't that hungry so ordered the pretzels which came out warm accompanied by two sauces. I didn't even try the cheese sauce because the other sauce which was spicy was tasty, We also shared the Spicy BBQ bone in chicken wings which were flavorful. Overall great experience. I need to eat a full meal tho before I give this place 5 stars but overall highly recommend this woman owned and operated business.

We started with cocktails that had as much attitude as the name: the Take It Like A Man Marg was smooth but bold, and the Take My Ass to Mexico Marg had us ready to book flights south of the border. The food? Oh, honey, the Big Beefy Mushroom Burger didn't just bring the beef--it brought the drama. Juicy, loaded, and unapologetically delicious, it's definitely a two-hand job (and worth every messy bite). And those Garlic Parmesan Wings? Let's just say they were a finger-licking, garlicky dream, and the house-made dipping sauce had us wondering if they sell it by the gallon. Don't forget to check out their tasting flights--they'll take your palate on a wild ride. And before you leave, do yourself a favor and buy a few bottles from their in-house distillery. Trust us, you'll want to take this Handsome Bastard home with you. This place doesn't just serve food and drinks; it serves a whole vibe. One Handsome Bastard is as bold, unapologetic, and downright fun as the name suggests. Don't walk--run!

We came for the happy hour, which is half off all cocktails. I had a Bloody Bastard and the wife enjoyed a lemon drop. The house cocktails were OK, but skimpy on booze. The "bartenders" were very careful with the pours. I would not venture outside the house signature cocktails. This is not a craft cocktail bar. We tried the Southwest Brussels and the garlic parmesan wings. The Brussels were very good. I liked the flavors, but they could have been hotter. The wings were a big miss. The skin was not crispy, and they were swimming in what tasted like alfredo sauce. We tasted no garlic. In conclusion, the price during Happy Hour is really cheap for drinks. The drinks and food quality were commensurate with the price. Our service was excellent, and the facility is average.

Half of cocktails during happy hour?? Yes please!! Great service, good cocktails and food, nice casual vibe. We tried 4 of their cocktails off the menu, and all were good. Also ordered brussels sprouts, tater tots, and Thai chili wings, and were happy with it all. Also really appreciated that the owner or manager asked us if we would mind if they put the football game over the sound system since some other patrons requested it...which we didn't mind at all. But super nice to ask! And they didn't blare it like some sports bars, which was appreciated. We will be back for sure!

Staff are so nice and attentive! We are visiting from Portland and are trying various places - enjoyed our drinks and meals here. Would recommend!

One Handsome Bastard Distillery is a great bar and eatery. They make small batch, hand-distilled alcohol. They sign each bottle that goes through the doors. They have Vodka Gin, barrel-aged Gin and Vodka Flavors. The place is very cute, bigger than I thought and very clean. You can sit at the bar or at a table. We tried their gin and thought it was great. We got some to take home. The service was great and fun. These people seem to love their job and that is great to see. All of the alcohol looked great, but we did not want to drink too much so we just stuck with gin drinks and then ate. We all had burgers and fries. They were great and made as ordered. Nothing over cooked here. They have a great bacon burger and their BBQ burger is the best. We also had a simple cheese burger with all the regular toppings and were very happy. There is nice places to walk nearby and we did that for an hour just to make sure our two drinks were out of our system so we could drive. We are so very careful about that. We loved this place.

There is a nice patio and indoor seating. It has a very casual environment which is nice after a long day of walking around in the heat. I ordered the Berry Bliss drink. It included one of their flavored vodkas that is made in house. If you like sweet/fruity drinks, this is for you. It was also very refreshing. I was too early for HH, but it looked like a good deal if you can make it for drinks. Food wise, I built my own burger with Swiss, mushrooms, and bacon. The bacon was so good! The herb aioli made in house was perfect on the burger. I expected the mushrooms to be more sauteed than they were, but it was still good. The burger was well cooked. The service was a little on the slower side. However, the bartender said it was his first day so I'm sure it will get better. I would definitely recommend this bar/distillery if you're in Scottsdale!

This place is amazing!! The servers, food, and the vodka... incredible! Do yourself a favor and get the home made fudge!! Rich... but so good

Great location. Super friendly service. Happy hour mon-fri. Mushroom burger was huge with two patties. Great flavor. Brussels sprouts were great appetizer. Philly was ok but peppers cut up too small losing its flavor. Good beer selection. Bloody Mary with their own liqueur was a hit. Easy parking. Place has a great patio and plenty of room inside.

Awesome patio with live music! I got the house margarita and it was incredible!! They add pickle juice and have pickled cucumbers/ jalapeños on top!

Great food and drinks! Friendly service. Cool vibe. All food came out hot and was fresh and lots of good flavors. Good sized portions too. We split a bunch of apps and two of us were full. We tried the ceaser salad, pretzel sliders, southwest brussel sprout and plain tots. Parking was easy. We will definitely return soon to try the wings and burgers!!

We had their Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini and the Blackberry Mojito which we both liked. The first Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini they made me was not very good but they were nice enough to give me a second one which was much better. We also tried the Fried Guacamole which has onion rings, pico de gallo, and jalapeno poppers - we liked this one. Heard they had Sweet Potato Cheesecake so had to have that, it was very good! Highlight was definitely this.

We stopped in to grab some food because we had done some wine tasting and had a good time here. We ordered the fries and tater tots and both were gone in seconds. I only was able to snap a pic of the Brussels sprouts which were just as good as the fries. They had a liquor flight so we got one of those as well. The servers and host were super sweet and made it a great time!

Food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommend the lemon drop martini! We bought two bottles of their infused vodka to take home with us.

What a gem of a spot. Searched for AZ made liquor in hopes of bringing some to friends in Louisiana (who have never been here), and this came up. Service has been top-notch BOTH visits. I ordered the chef burger, and it was fantastic. The tots and house made honey mustard is freaking delicious the atmosphere is nice, large TVs for sports and open air. I purchased a few bottles to go and some shooters. The bags they put them in are hilarious. One said: save water drink vodka, and one said: shut up and fill up my cup!! It's just hilarious. I ordered a to-go of the soft pretzels with beer cheese, my daughter thinks they are the best she has ever had (and she has tried so many places)

Catchy name. Great atmosphere. Poor product. The distillery only offers gin and vodka. May just be too new to serve barrel aged products such as whiskeys. Not sure what their plans are. The flight of 4 of your own selection is the way to learn about their products. GIN The gins were much better than the vodkas in my opinion. The juniper is a bit mild in their gins, which some may prefer and others may be disappointed. VODKA They offer flavored vodkas since plain vodka has no flavor. I tried two of the fruited vodkas, lemon and grapefruit. I don't know how they make them, but it tasted like they simply mixed some fruit juice with the finished vodka. It didn't taste like a tincture which pulls out authentic, rich flavors from the fruits.

We got the bacon Brussels, garlic Parmesan tots, and shared the mushroom Swiss burger. I had an old fashioned and an espresso martini and my honey got a basil drink. Can't remember the name. Food was so so good. Delish drinks! Happy hour til 7:30 and in Scottsdale?! What a steal!!! 12/10 recommend

Stopped in for a quick dinner tonight. Didn't try any of the drinks, but really enjoyed all of the food items that we ordered. We tried the bacon, brussels sprouts, hot wings, Philly cheesesteak, and a build your own burger. Everything was fantastic and it was really good Gastro pub food. Would definitely come back! Service was also excellent!

Saw great reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! Outside seating area was nice. Our drinks were fantastic. We had an espresso martini and some mango drink with grapefruit gin. We all got burgers and they were excellent. Super fresh tasting. The fries and sweet potato tots were really good. The service was also great. Everyone was very friendly.

The place was awesome! The staff was super friendly and very helpful with our drink choices. We asked the bartender to make up something fun for us and she hit the nail on the head. Food was great, drinks were awesome, and the atmosphere was perfect. We would definitely come again.

Great spot. The burgers were juicy and cooked a perfect medium rare. The Brussel sprouts with bacon were fantastic! Very flavorful. Enjoyed the flight and the ability to try four different types of their alcohol. The blood orange gin was far and away the best! The lemon and grapefruit vodka were good but I did not enjoy the strawberry vodka. Also had an espresso martini which was very tasty. Service was great and the place was airy with games in the TVs and some great music. We definitely will be back!

This place was top notch. I loved the food and the drinks were perfect. Server Rudy was unbelievably charming and witty. I will be back mainly for rudy but how nice is it that great food and a great time comes with it!

We stopped in here for our first visit today - what a great find! The cocktails are amazing. I had the best burger I've had in a long time (Pinetop Burger), and my wife had a wonderful salad (antipasto dinner salad). Not a long beer list but a good selection. It was very busy so the food took a little bit to come out, but our waitress took care of us, kept waters full and drinks coming, and was super friendly. One of the owners was bussing tables, filling water glasses, and talking with customers. The bar and patio were full and a band was playing outside on the patio. Great vibe, very good food, excellent cocktails, friendly service, and reasonable prices. We'll be back!

The food was amazing! We also got the grilled chicken sandwich, bbq burger, and the pine top burger. Highly recommended coming here! The patio is also fabulous!

Great afternoon for some incredible food, outstanding vodka and a great Blood Orange Gin. WORTH EVERY PENNY Worth a stop.

Food was very good, kinda think bar food, but much better. Service was fast & attentive. Had the mushroom burger, but with chicken, the bun was light and fluffy, chicken tender, super good. Ambiance, well it's in Scottsdale on a 70 degree sunny day, can't say more.

Waitress was like a 8-9% tip worthy but the boooze was nice. Food was good but not Scottsdale great. I'd go again as we had great conversation and think the restaurant enabled that vibe.

So gotta start off with I totally forgot to grab photo of our salad but honestly the drinks and appetizers were so good I wouldn't have needed the salad. Upon entering we wanted to sit outside but it was kinda windy so Luke our waiter brought us inside. We sat next to the distillery and across from kitchen which was cool. We had a cocktail made with the house made vodka and it was delicious, our some had the wings and really enjoyed them and the wife and I shared the pub pretzels which were out of this world. The pretzels came with beer cheese & honey mustard both house made and amazing flavor. The appetizers definitely better than our entree but we did order a salad lol. Definitely a fun and delicious place to try if in town.

We tried several of the drinks and everything we tried was delicious. Espresso martinis and take my ass to Mexico were the favorites. Food was also really good and the service was outstanding! We went back twice and they remembered us and greeted us like old friends.
