New Restaurant and Roastery Golden Rule Is Under Construction Near 100 Oaks Mall - Eater Nashville

"A new restaurant and roastery is currently under construction in the 100 Oaks Mall area. Few details are known, but a sign posted out front promises breakfast, lunch, and coffee, with a spring opening as the target." - Matt Rogers

This store was very disorganized. Our store back home in IL is not like this. It was almost overstocked. There is stuff everywhere. There is not a large selection of plus size. There are a lot of shoes, but it is mainly sneakers that are out of style. Not much high heels or flats, at least in size 10 for women. The cashiers up at front were so engrossed in conversation they didn’t care much for my transaction. I would definitely not go here again.

Parking is a nightmare. Basically gotta follow someone leaving to get their space. Then hope there's not someone to beat you 2 it. Once in- vandy does good service without a long wait usually. About 5 min this time!

Google
No longer a Mall, for like 20+ years. Vandy is good though, and you can get furniture and second hand retail or a colonoscopy on the 1st floor!

Google
It’s not horrible, but could certainly be better. Not much room to maneuver the sidewalks. Not really the type of stores I’m interested in, aside from Guitar Center. Decent food options nearby, though.

So, this was the first time I've made it over to 100 oaks mall since... 02 (that's when I went to buy a 1 GB hard drive as they just came out). Anyway, waaaay different. I was there grabbing paperwork to enroll my kid in school and I had no idea where I was going. Luckily, the people here are super nice and noticed I was lost, (my natural state of being) and got me where I needed to be. Thank you so much for the assistance!

I see my pcp at the vanderbilt clinic at 100 Oaks and everyone is so professional and amazing!

Google
I used to come here after school in the eighties when they had a game room and indoor theater with an old school mall inside .Not nothing like that now. If you like strip malls like they have practically everywhere now, you'll love it. Plus they have a few restaurants to eat at in the parking lot and a Regal Theater there.

Google
This store is closing, I got many things with 20% off of the purchase, if you're looking for a good deal you need to go there before they close the doors it won't be disappointed.

Yelp
There's several great stores here that I would recommend to anyone in my family so,, if I would tell my family to shop here that means I would recommend anyone to shop here... The only other place I LOVE is TJ MAX/ HomeGoods in Brentwood

Yelp
Not a bad little shopping center close to my house and work. I like it for convenience! This "mall" is more like a STRIP mall where the stores are side by side but have no way to get between them without walking outside. I am a walker and don't mind getting my happy ass up and down but these stores are just SO spread out it makes it rather difficult if you are carrying bags or its cold/rainy outside. They offer some really great discount stores that are near and dear to my heart like Michaels, TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. They also have a movie theater, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc within very short driving distance. Parking can be slightly crowded, but it's typically not horrible. This mall is a good stop in for a couple things (that are cheap) kind of place, but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy duty shopping.

Yelp
I go here quite a lot. They have some really great stores..Ulta, Michael's, Kirkland's, Ross, and TJ Maxx...there are some additional stores including my FAV...Petsmart.. The movie theater is located at the far end..there are a few restaurants and if your sick, Hospital upstairs...I shop here at least twice per week...

Yelp
Great place to shop the big box stores. Excellent variety. Ample parking. The parking spaces themselves are good sized too. They could use some more pedestrian cross walks. The area is always clean and nicely landscaped. Great place to shop with easy access to 65

Yelp
My family and I were at this theater today to see a movie. During the movie this group of teenagers one in Particular kept kicking the back of my seat she was asked to stop but didn't. I finally yell at her to stop at end of the movie some adult friends stated harassing and threatening us so went to management for some help but instead was told it was my fault for yelling at the disruptive teenagers . Maybe this is why home theaters are a billion dollar business a year because you can no longer take your family to safe enjoyable movie any more.

Yelp
Not a mall anymore. Visiting from Maryland. Tj Maxx always fun to go to in different states....great finds!

Yelp
Allow me to preface this review with the fact that 100 Oaks Mall is clearly undergoing major renovation. It's definitely only merits two stars now, but perhaps once the renovations are completed this mall will be a much better place to spend time. That being said, that mall part of 100 Oaks Mall is virtually non-existent. I wandered in one day, and it's eerily empty. All the open stores in 100 Oaks are open to the outside parking lot not the interior mall. I usually come when I need to go to Michael's or Petsmart and stop in for a quick perusal of TJ Max in hopes of finding treasure. I rarely do, of course, but the hunt is fun. Overall, it's dreary and there are few stores here. I hope the future of the mall is bright because the present is very dim.

Yelp
NOT A TRADITIONAL MALL! This is not a traditional mall, it is just a collection of discount stores and other retailers. The ones that are most likely to catch your attention are Burlington, Ross, K& G and TJ Maxx. Driving north from Brentwood to Nashville, I would see these shops all the time. At night they are totally lit up like a nightclub and seem to beckon visitors. It is one of the centers open late with Burlington and Ross closing at 11pm, for your shopping emergencies. Just know that the Burlington and Ross stores are not well maintained and were very messy and disorganized. The TJ Maxx store was a disappointment because of its limited stock and poor selection. However the K&G store was a huge surprise because it was well organized and had a great quality selection of suits, clothing and accessories for men. Their clothing selection for women needs work as it seems like more of an afterthought with less quality options available. On a crowded weekend, parking was still very easy.

Yelp
I can understand the bad reviews that this mall now gets,it has basically been forgotten about.Sure there have been many feeble attempts at taking this mall off life support and see if it could breath on its own but the money needed to do this or the leadership that is required for this to happen just doesn't seem to be there BUT this mall,at one time, was THE PLACE TO SHOP,believe it or not! When we moved to Nashville in 1968 this mall was nearing completion and when it finally opened it was truly a retail shopping wonderland which included two major dept stores Woolco and Harveys in addition to numerous small retail stores. There was even a Giant Foods in the same parking lot. It's ashame that this mall has fallen to the level that it's at because it's as big a part of Nashville as country music is.

Yelp
I know I'm from AZ, land of the mall, but can you really call this a mall? It barely qualifies as a strip mall. I have to say I did not even park my car and get out. This mall was the pinnacle of a fairly lackluster shopping trip to Nashville from Clarksville. They should condemn and burn this place. Then replace it with something better looking and more pleasant, like a parking garage. It's days like these that I am angry you cannot give zero stars on Yelp! I guess the basic point of this review is I did not like this mall.

Yelp
I just feel bad for this place. This had to be a place to go at some point, just like our dear Antioch, but up until about six months ago it looked like little was being done to help the failing mall. They are putting some of the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital inside it now, so they are renevating and hopefully this will help fuel more people into Berry Hill. I do come here to Petsmart for our catfood and Michaels for a bead run, but otherwise don't have a need to come here. It's set up more like a strip mall than you're typical mall. I've never seen a way to get "inside" other than just going in store to store. The place is crazy with construction right now, but I'm hoping once it's over the mall looks and acts 100% better.

Yelp
I like this place. When you're on a budget, you can always find something here. Burlington is such a large store and of course sometimes it gets too messy. But if you deal with that, you'll be pleased with prices. Once I got a Calvin Klein coat for $100 that was $220 in Green Hills mall, the same day! Check out Ross, occasionally you can find something good there.

Yelp
2013/030 Because I'm a consummate pedestrian in Nashville, I really need to have a reason to be in the area for me to step into this mall. It's convenient to a bus line (and free shuttles from the Vandy campus on weekdays). But unless I'm at a doctor's appointment, or at the knitting group that meets here, I go elsewhere for my "just looking" perusals. I thought it was odd that a med center would be found smack dab in the middle of a mall. But given the history, it makes sense. The Vandy section is really nice, and you can tell the mall portion they occupied had a lot of potential for many internal stores. Now the shopping part of the mall mainly consists of large department chain stores stuck together: Petsmart, Ross, Burlington, Michael's, etc. There is a movie theater nearby, and a few eateries within walking distance, even the ones found across the street in another strip mall. Within a few more visits, I will probably be able to review every store and eatery here -- it's that small.

Yelp
omg, kind of grungy...I felt like it was really filthy inside Burlington so I had to get out. Worse T J Maxx I have ever been in. As far as display and selection, Ross was the best out of the three. This strip-mall is lacking in cleanliness and is totally run down. It looks like it would be a good location but they should build it up and make it nicer. The prices are good maybe I'm in a low income area? I don't know Nashville that well but it's not any place I'd want to return to. Maybe they can afford better prices because they don't have a cleaning crew? Also did not feel safe there is security and cops driving up and down in the parking lot didnt make you feel safe., to some people they would say oh security and cops you should feel safer but I I kind of go to places that you don't really need to have security and cops so you can look at it both ways.

Yelp
I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but its ok. I occassionally look at the TJ Maxx and the Petsmart when I go to the movies, and thats about it. They also have a lot of parking... This strip mall could use a website and a lot more stores. ** update: 4/1/13: Still no website!! They seriously need one... Since my last review, they added a Walmart, which was huge. And, it's a great location, but I just think it hasn't picked up momentum because there aren't enough cool stores. Anyone want to start a cool business or franchise something popular, this would be a great place to do it! It's about 5 miles from vanderbilt university and Belmont and even closer to downtown. Any questions? The mall's main number is 615-383-6002. There, you can get info about stores and numbers to other people such as management and development. Also, Mark Roach is in charge of leasing spaces... Ikea anyone? Or a planet fitness? Anyway, his number is 615-248-5932 or 615-248-3500. Other popular franchises might include subway, super cuts, curves, Gold's gym, Gymboree, plato's closet, 7 eleven, Verizon, kumon math and reading centers, anytime fitness, etc,, etc.

Yelp
This place is just sad. Thankfully I think they are renovating it, but if you are thinking of heading there as it currently is don't bother. Like Kyla A., I ended up there on a TJ Max gem hunt, and walked around for a bit (though there isn't much to walk around in). Aside from TJ Max, the only other places that caught my attention were Burlington Coat Factory (I need something to keep me warm this winter) and The Reebok store where I didn't find any running shoes. The only real reason to go anywhere near this place is for the Las Vegas blinding movie theatre (with its ridiculous lights it definitely looks like it belongs on the strip, or in a strip club).

V.A. C.

Yelp
This place is not a mall. Whoever is in charge of marketing did not think it through. I would recommend the building owners to change the name name to Thousand Oaks Shopping Center.

Daniel B.

Yelp
In terms of retail, this place has a few stores that I like to visit and few that I don't want to visit again. In terms of food, they have an Einstein Bagel inside and upstairs in the Medical Center and they have a few freestanding places out front: Logans, Panda Express, Panera, and Cheeseburger Charlie's. Just be careful when walking between the parking lot and the stores, it seems that many of the people driving through are headed to the Medical Center and are drugged up and don't pay much attention. Ha!
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
EH....it's not a mall really anymore. It's a selection of shops and medical building. I sometimes come by here to poke my head in at TJ Maxx, but honestly I don't like this TJ Maxx as much as the one I frequent in Rivergate. Is there really anything else to say about this place? Oh yeah avoid on Saturdays...just like any other mall.

Yelp
Love coming down here. The stores are busy but very well stocked. The Ross is usually a disaster zone BUT it's the biggest Ross in TN and has WAY MORE than the other Ross stores.

Cliff L.

Yelp
ha, Ha, HA!! Ever wonder what it looks like when a reviewer doesn't know the whole story, Christopher E? The mall certainly was going belly-up, but the reason the inside has been closed is because Vanderbilt is moving several clinics in. Retail will remain on the outside. The exterior is getting a much needed face lift, etc. Much potential.

Yelp
This was AWFUL! I went at 5:30 on a week night -- the staff was disorganized -- many of the food trays were empty or almost out of food -- what I did get was worse than what I could get from a freezer at a grocery and was greasy. I was very disappointed as I was hoping for an Asian express near home. Don't waste your time.

Ian I.

Yelp
Worst Ulta ive ever been to and Ive been to many across the US and aim a regular customer. Layout the same, product availability the same. What makes this the worse is management amd staff. Never met individuals with such an attitude, unfriendly, unable to smile, say "thanks for coming"...nothing. And clueless. Manager rung me up, mumbled & continued frowning thru entire transaction. Bought $250 worth of gifts for my staff, she overcharged me first time, so I had to come back in, wait in line again, only for her to be confused and angry I returned. When I questioned which ones she needed to rering at the correct price & restated how many items (since i had 16) she advised understanding & that, yes, all was correct. A long line behind me and I had already now waited 20 minutes 2 seperate times for this purchase, so I decided to trust her & not reread all receipts with people behind me. As soon as I returned home (this store was a 30 minute drive for me) I looked at the receipt and instead of crediting my account and taking the items back, she rerang all as purchased and charged me an additional $50. Unbelievable. I know this store is in an urban area, not the best area, but really Ulta? This is the best you could do when it came to hiring. We all make mistakes and I know its not easy for staff with the holiday rush, but when you couple the incompetence with a poor attitude & a manager who doesn't welcome you, doesnt look at you, doesnt smile, etc. that makes the overall experience a very poor one. I know I will never go to that store again.
